Should be a 2.5 star rating for average. Â Food was ok, nothing worth going back for. Â Small menu but that's fine. Â Pro: Sirloin steak was good sized, juicy, cooked properly and had no fat or inedible parts. Ribs were very tender also with no fat. Â Fries were crispy steak fries (more or less) and served in a metal cup to keep them hot (nice touch). Cons: The flavor of the steak and ribs was lacking. Â No seasoning on the steak from what I could tell and the sauce on the ribs was fairly bland. Half rack was a bit small. Â
Overall, it was ok for the price and the place was clean with an assortment of sports on tv's.
I stopped in here for lunch while I was in the area on business. Â I sat at the bar. Â Looking around, it seems like they do a pretty good bit of business during lunch. Â There were some open tables but not too many. Â I wasn't the only person at the bar, either (though I was the only one not drinking, interestingly enough).
Being back in the Carolinas for the first time in a while, I ordered a pulled pork BBQ sandwich. Â It was good, slightly above average, but not amazing. Â There was plenty, and the coleslaw served with it was quite good (and went right on top of the sandwich, of course). Â The fries were only ok - a bit overdone.
I will probably seek out other places to try when in the area again.
This is one of those places that you have to order your sides separately. I'm usually not a big fan of that, since I never realize it until my food comes out. I guess that's the waiter/waitresses fault for not bringing it to my attention.
Anyway, service was nice though, overall. It wasn't too packed when I went, which caught me off guard since it was Friday evening.
The menu is interesting. I like the fact that they are a regular american restaurant but put a twist on every meal. Good call.
Overall I wasn't too impressed, but I'm sure I'll be back here at some point.
Several comments: First Happy Hour is "all domestic beers for $3..." except that on their printed beer list, all but one are considered specialty beers and didn't count. The server had to return to the bar TWO times to figure that out.
Secondly, the Fried PIckle appetizer we ordered wasn't great. Actually, there was no pickle flavor at all. It tasted like fried cucumbers. The spicy sauce was great though! Also, there were about 8 little quarter-sized slices in the whole deal.
The French onion soup was very nice.
Thirdly, our burgers: They're SO TINY! There was about 1/2 inch of bun all the way around the burger. It was like a meatball. I ordered mine medium-well (only because I am pregnant) and it was the rarest of all of our burgers- very, very red all over. After about 5 minutes of trying to flag him down, we literally had to go get the server  from the bar, where he was sitting. He took the burger, which I had cut in half, they cooked the whole thing again until it was safely hot - but very well-done, no pink at all. I had the stuffed beer burger. No discernible cheese at all.
My husband and his father both ordered the Greek burger. It was tasty, but equally tiny with no cheese to speak of. Â
We won't return. Â The cup of soup is the best thing we ate, and it's never worth losing a fun evening out for just that.
Will not be returning to Tevern 24. Â Overpriced drinks - weak happy hour. Â The food was not very good at all. Â We went there on a Saturday afternoon - the place was half empty and it still took 30 minutes to get our food after we ordered. Â Go somewhere else and save your time and money.
Review Source:We had a party of seven celebrating our son's 40+ birthday and from the start our server was great to work with. We asked him about putting the funny had on our son, and since the restaurant didn't have one our server fabricated one from materials on hand.
Everyone enjoyed their food, which was reasonably priced. The menu has a wide variety of selections and we enjoyed the beer infused burger, the Cuban sandwich, a couple of pizzas plus what they had at the other end of the table.
While the restaurant has a sports bar appearance it also does well as a neighborhood type restaurant.
We will be back!
Great addition to Woodruff Road! The menu features local and made from scratch items. I'm a health nut and can appreciate their lighter fare options, but I do love a good cheeseburger every now and than. If people don't like the burgers it's because they are used to a greasy frozen patty loaded with junk, this place uses angus beef and the lamb burger is delicious. Good beer selection and now buy one get one apps and pizza! If you haven't been check it out and ask for Courtney for great service!
Review Source:Service was good. Â Burger was OK but not what I was expecting based on the great description in the menu that enticed me to choose it. Â The fries are great. Â I was not impressed with the decor. Â It was not a very warm traditional sports bar. Â It was very modern and institutional looking. Â The food just didn't match the atmosphere. Â I would try it again but I'm in no hurry.
Review Source:Cannot get service if only one. Â This was my 2nd time here. Â I started at the bar and was was greeted and served promptly. Â The restaurant was freezing, and I was waiting on others, so I ask about seating outside. Â The bartender told me to tab out with him then go back to hostess station, which I did. Â I was seated outside and since it was still early, I was the only only patron outside. Â Other parties soon came . Â I drank my beer and waited for a server. Â No one came to my table, but passed by looking annoyed, I heard comments about staffing from the 2 servers that passed my table numerous times. Â I waited 20 min to get service, then I texted my husband and told him To meet me at Carolina ale house instead. Â the 2 stars come from my experience at the bar.
Review Source:If you are looking for okay food for an okay price this may be the place for you. The prices were pretty low but if you order a burger or sandwich they don't come with a side item. You have to pay extra for fries or whatever sides they offer.
I ordered the chili and it was so bad I couldn't eat it. It was very greasy and tasted like it was half hot sauce. I enjoy spicy chili, but it should have flavor as well as heat. The chicken sandwich I ordered was okay.
The waitress was very nice and did a good job.
I would not eat here again.
We are new to the area and decided to give the place a try despite a few bad reviews and boy are we glad we did. Â
First up we started with the wings. Â Fantastic. Â A very unique wing sauce (we got the buffalo hot) that is not too spicy at all. Â Mixed with the char from their grilling and these were absolutely fantastic. Â
My wife got the SW burger and she said the guac that came on it was fresh tasting, and very good. Â The bun was very good as well. Â In all, the burger got mixed reviews only because it was a little overcooked and dry. Â Nothing bad mind you, but just not great.
I got the pizza. Â Pepperoni, sausage and roasted mushroom. Â It comes on a homemade thin crust that is not too crispy. Â We both said that we thought it was fantastic. Â Also more than enough food. Â
Lastly the service. Â Great recommendations by the server who was with us anytime we needed anything and we had 2 managers stop by the table to find out how things were going. Â The service was exceptional.
We will definitely be going back and looking forward to trying out new things. Â Also want to comment on the layout. Â TVs at every angle the head turns and something for sports fans without a doubt.
I dont know what happened to the other Reviewers, but my experience has been great! Â Ive been there 4 times since theyve opened and let me tell you, this isnt Fuddruckers or Ruby Tuesday's or TGIF! Â These burgers are the real deal. Â If you dont like these burgers, its probably because you're used to the other restaurants. Â I order mine Medium and it always comes out juicy and flavorful..btw, that flavor is what REAL 100% beef tastes like. Â I would bet it is never frozen either. Â The service has always been exceptional (except for the last visit, it was near closing). Â The Management has always visited our table. Â My partner is vegetarian and he orders the Black Bean Burger which btw is made in-house. Â He LOVES it! Â
Keep up the great work and I will keep coming back...and telling my friends too!
No, just no. Â I'm sorry, but if a tavern can't get a burger right, then whats the point? I got a burger and fries when I went there and it was terrible. Fries tasted stale as if they've been out for 8 hours. Did I mention I went at 11:30am. WTH? I'm sorry, but if a tavern can't get a burger and fries right, then whats the point of going? The service was just OK and the only reason why I'm not giving it 1 star is because I had a quesadilla appetizer that was quite satisfying. I had high expectation towards my main dish after trying the appetizer, but little did I know, I was in for something terrible. I don't recommend this place at all.
