Great location and it easily offers one of the best atmosphere's in all of Tulsa. Â Has a very classic but hip feel to it and I love the prohibition era looking old wood bar back.
While not a huge selection of choices on the food menu, very little on there disappoints. Â Don't feel compelled to eat the burger as that's what they are known for but it's a pretty darn good burger. Â Some of the other options are a little more pricey though.
While the beer selection is good, I've had a couple bad experiences with their classic cocktails being a little over powering with seemingly a 90% alcohol mixture.
Had dinner there on Sunday night with the family for the first time. Â Great chicken, potatoes and gravy and asparagus and biscuits so big you have to split one 3 ways! Â Tried the Angry Mac and Cheese and it was truly the best mac n cheese I've ever tasted! Â Will go back definitely.
Review Source:Great restaurant. Don't know about all the menu items but we had the gourmet hamburger and it was excellent. The two girls split one hamburger and it was more than enough for them. Of course, I ate a whole hamburger and the mountain of French fries that came with the meal. I shouldn't have done it...but I did. It was that good. I had told the hostess at the front door that I wanted to get the cobbler but we were on our way to the theater and I couldn't wait twenty minutes for the preparation. She said she would take care of it and when our waiter arrived he said he had given instructions to the kitchen to have the cobbler ready. And it was ready when we finished our hamburgers. He brought it to our table hot and with ice crèam on top. It was enough for three people to share. And it was just as good as I had read in previous reviews. It's a desert you would remember. Not knowing that, the girls had also ordered the parfait in addition to the cobbler...which was also excellent. By the way, we had an excellent waiter. He was attentive without being pushy. Also liked the atmosphere and the interior décor. Wine list was good and there was a good assortment of local beers.
Review Source:Only an idiot would give a 4 star review purely for the cobbler. Â But I'll tell ya one thing: Â This idiot enjoyed the best cobbler of his life at The Tavern!
Tulsa is a quiet and pretty city that's really upstarting its downtown scene. And I like the things they're doing with it. Â The Tavern fits in perfectly; it's an upscale interpretation of a neighborhood pub, complete with a gourmet burger and smoked salmon deviled eggs. Â
But oh, the cobbler! Â You have to give them about 20 minutes notice if you want to order it, so don't forget! Â This isn't something the server told me, and I don't want to eat dessert 20 minutes after finishing my meal, so I'm glad I pre-Yelped and came prepared. Blueberry cream cobbler with a sugary, decadent crust, topped with lavender ice cream. Â I never would have described myself as a cobbler man, but after last night's treat I may have to introduce myself that way on dates and job interviews.
Oh and a side note, I'll be getting the double-bone pork chop the next time I visit. Â I saw a man carving up this Flintstone steak and almost challenged him to a duel for it. My burger was solid and tasty,l though. Â I ordered it medium rare and they came close (medium). Â Anybody who loves their burgers like I do knows that getting them cooked correctly is a "rare" occurance!
I used my pun for the day so this review is now over.
I visited with my team during a recent business trip after finding The Tavern on yelp and seeing very good reviews. Â Most of the team of 8 were locals but had never been there but once again - my fellow yelpers were spot on about this place.
The ambiance and decor are welcoming and stylish. Â I loved the art work on the back wall in the dining room - many of the pictures were conversation starters during our visit. Â The bar area is large and comfortable and the bartender was friendly and attentive. Â While waiting for our entire group to arrive and out of sheer curiosity, we tried the Bacon Popcorn - an interesting item on a list of specially priced appetizers during happy hour. Â It was surprisingly delicious - popcorn covered in crispy bacon with a drizzle of maple syrup over it - sweet and salty goodness!!
The menu is not extensive but there are lots of creative options for any taste preference. Â The range of starters and entrees we ordered went from the Tomato Bisque and Tavern Burger (one of the best I've ever had) to Filet of Beef and Lamb Sirloin over lentils....all were delicious and everyone cleaned their plates!! Â We also ordered two sides of the Angry Mac 'n Cheese - it was also quite good but a tad bit spicy for my taste. Â
To top off the great food items, the craft beer and wine lists were extensive. Â Our server was also friendly, knowledgeable and gave us just the right amount of attention. Â We could not have been more pleased with our dinner and I can't wait to return to Tulsa so I can visit The Tavern on Brady again.
Came here for dinner Thurs . Â Service was a bit slow. I ordered the burger, and it was very, very bland. The bun was stale and the sauce on the burger missed. The fries were cold and again were bland. I had a bite of the mac and cheese it had a decent kick to it. The filet looked more like a pork tenderloin. The chairs are uncomfortable as well. Not worth the price you pay as their are better choices available. The two stars is for the beer selection or I would have given this one star
Review Source:Decided to check out the new Sunday market at Guthrie Green this past weekend. Â Not seeing anything there to eat and not wanting to clog my arteries as Caz's, decided to try the Tavern for brunch.
Every time I go (which is now only going to be after going into a rant after someone suggests it and there appearing to be no alternative options), I want to be impressed. Â I'm eager for my experience to be as good as it should, but time after time I'm disappointed.
I order the chipped beef on toast (a fancy name for shit on a shingle). Â The portion was plentiful and the price reasonable ($10). Â A plate full of homemade potatoes, topped with buttered toast, topped with beef in a bechamel sauce, topped with two fried eggs. Â By all reasoning this should have been an excellent meal, but it wasn't. Â The beef (you know the main component of the dish) was bland and sitting in a bland sauce. Â Really, really disappointing. Â The eggs were a bit over cooked, but that's okay. Â Would have been nice if the waitress asked how I wanted my eggs done. Â The toast was toast. Â The potatoes were the best part of the dish.
The other thing I don't get is why in the world does this place not have a soda fountain? Â I ordered a diet coke and was served one of those mini cans, which they charge $1.25 for, which is just out right ridiculous. Â It just seems to reiterate my last review, is that the price point for this restaurant seems obscure and a bit off.
In the end I just can't really justify returning to this place, only to have my increasingly lower expectations destroyed like a trailer home in a twister.
The Tavern is becoming one of my favorite Tulsa restaurants. Â
We were finally able to make the brunch on Sunday and it was the best I've ever had. Â A friend and I couldn't decide between the french toast or the country benedict, so we split both! Â It was more delicious than I could have imagined, I still couldn't tell you which to choose between!
The wait staff was incredibly friendly, probably some of the best in Tulsa.
The dinner here is delicious as well, make sure to try the bacon popcorn!
I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone!
This is probably the best restaurant I have been to in months.
We went there on a busy Friday night and were immediately seated at the requested table.
The service was great and the wait staff was very attentive.
I absolutely love the atmosphere. The decor is just right and unpretentious. You will find just the right mount of vintage decorations on the wall without looking like a flea market gone crazy. The lighting was perfect - not too bright, not too dark and perfect for a romantic night.
The food was great too. The burgers are absolutely to die for. I loved the complimentary bread and butter spread you get with the meal. The one thing I was not a fan of were the hash/very skinny fries. They were just too weird and bland.
An absolute gem in Tulsa and I can't wait to go back!
Great place to grab dinner at the end of a long day or maybe after a long night. Located right around the corner from the world famous Cain's Ballroom and not far from the BOK Center.
TAVERN BURGER! The best burger I've ever had in my life. I know you might think, it's just a burger, and I say nay it's the best burger you'll ever eat. $13 is a lot to pay for a burger but it really is worth trying at least once then I think you'll be a believer just like me.
My wife is a big fan of the bacon popcorn. Popcorn with crunchy bacon and some type of sweet syrup kind of stuff it's buttery, salty an sweet.
The deviled egg trifecta is awesome. The dish is deviled eggs three ways, house, wasabi, and bacon really good appetizers all the way around.
The staff was very busy but still very good, friendly and accommodating.
All kinds of different and original cocktails to try as well.
Overall a good bar and a great restaurant. Don't forget: try the burger!!
This use to be one of my favorite places in town, but upon a recent trip home I was very disappointed. Â The prices are at the high end for what anyone should pay in Tulsa. Â Some of the dishes I'm sure are worth it, but from what I could tell by what we had the quality has gone significantly down. Â I had craved their bacon popcorn for weeks and their mac and cheese and found both to be repulsive. Â The mac and cheese was gritty and soggy. Â It lacked the stringy and complex cheese flavor that I remember, and the popcorn was stale.
As remembered though, the specialty cocktail menu was excellent, and the bartender was a true mixologist, able to do more than a liquor with mixer frat-drinks. Â I am a fan of their Manahattans and Gimlets.
Nothing is special enough about the experience or atmosphere to warrant the price tag without food that delivers.
The Tavern on Brady makes classic dishes creatively and deliciously. It is a gem in downtown Tulsa.
Transplanted Californians newly relocated to Tulsa, we scoped this place out in advance and expected great food -- and we were not disappointed. The food reminds us of one of our favorite restaurants in the Bay Area, so we will certainly be back for more.
We started with the French onion soup, which is rich and deeply flavored--and enough for two as an appetizer. Since we were there on a Sunday, we tried the family-style comfort food, which that night was fried chicken with all the fixins. It included mac n' cheese, a root vegetable hash, and biscuits; we also added Brussels sprouts (we are addicts....). The portions were large, so the extra side made us positively gluttonous -- but we wanted to try as many things on the menu as possible! We completed our meal with the apple cobbler and the flourless chocolate cake; these were also quite yummy but a bit large for desserts. (Of course, we are now in middle America--"a bit large" is probably par for the course here!)
When we ate here, the relief I felt at experiencing such high-quality, tasty food in Tulsa made me want to give it five stars... But the service did not match the quality. Perhaps it was just our server, or the fact that it was Sunday night, but the service seemed listless and unfriendly... Our server simply took our order -- did not advise us on specials, did not comment on or help us with our choices, and seemed generally absent. She did fill our water quite assiduously, which was quite a feat considering my rate of consumption (I am always dehydrated in the Midwest!), but she never warmed to us at all... My sense in observing the other servers was that that was the m.o. here, but again, it could have just been the night we were there. The food was so fantastic that we will certainly be back, so we will also see whether the service issue persists.
The other curious thing about the Tavern is that the ambiance is classy and quiet and somewhat upscale, but the food is this creative, almost boisterous, re-imagination of comfort food and classics... I feel the atmosphere should reflect a more casual aesthetic--its dark wood walls and candlelit tables remind one of something more precious and fussy that does not align well with the food. In short, the tone is off.
But again, the food is so incredibly tasty that we will be back for (much) more!
This was my first time to eat at the Brady Tavern, but my friend PF loves this place. Â I would say that the Brady Tavern is an upscale Tavern, but it definitely has that Tavern feel with a very open floor plan, close seating, and the lack of booths. Â My friends and I went on a Friday night and luckily we made reservations because the place was packed.
We all started out, like usual, with drinks. Â I got a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. Â Although they don't usually serve blue cheese stuffed olives our server had no problem asking the bar tender to make me some. Â For appetizers we got the trifecta deviled eggs, which is tradition deviled eggs, horseradish and bacon deviled eggs, and wasabi deviled eggs. Â I had half a tradition and one full horseradish and bacon deviled egg. Â They were both good not great, but like all deviled eggs I have had, nothing comes close to matching my moms. Â We also got the bacon popcorn which was very good. Â I believe it was candy bacon with something sweet lightly drizzled on top of the bacon and popcorn. Â I enjoy sweet and salty sometimes so i really enjoyed this combination. Â Plus, like everything else, bacon makes everything better.
For the main course we all four got the steak and frites. Â The steak was a 14oz New York cut with horseradish cream sauce. Â Now usually I am completely against putting any sauce on my steak, but this was an excellent sauce that went well with this delicious tender steak. Â Also I love horseradish sauces so maybe that's why I was not opposed to the sauce. Â The kitchen also did a good job of cooking the steak to order. Â The frites, small thinly cut french fries, where good also. Â I don't really like small, thinly cut french fries because its just annoying. Â No other way to explain why I don't like it, sorry. Â These fries, although not liking the style or cut, were delicious, and I got over the fact that I was eating small, thinly cut french fries. Â They had a really good seasoning on them. Â
The staff and manager were awesome. Â They had an issue with their credit card machine and gave us complimentary drinks while we waited for them to fix the problem. I would give this place 4.5 stars. Â It was close to getting 5, but just not quite there.
So whenever I'm in Oklahoma visiting family, I eat here. I've never been disappointed. It is really damn good. A little pricey, yes. But very much worth it. Lovely, chill atmosphere. Good service. And great food. Roasted chicken is perfection. My brother had the fish and chips and said it was the best he has tasted (he's picky). I tried a bite, totally agree. Even a burger is delicious. Oh, the deviled eggs... the best. Love this place. I wish I could bring it to Albuquerque.
Review Source:Great place!! The food was fantastic! We had the deviled egg trifecta - Amazing!! It comes with traditional deviled eggs, wasabi deviled eggs, and horseradish and bacon deviled eggs. Although I enjoyed the traditional deviled eggs the best, I found the others very good!
In addition to the deviled eggs we had the broiled provolone -also very good!
Now for the entree I had the tavern burger for $13. This was incredible. However, don't expect it to taste like a normal burger, because it is quite different, but still very good! The burgers are half-priced after 9 (we didn't go after 9 though) and this would be an amazing deal!!
For dessert we had the bread pudding and one of the specials - blackberry cobbler. These were great. The sauce on the bread pudding has a strong liquor taste, but I loved it. But what I really liked was the blackberry cobbler! The only bad thing about it is that it took 20 minutes to get to the table, but that is because they make it fresh when you order it. Let me tell you, it is worth a 20 minute wait. I may be biased because Im a sucker for blackberry cobbler but I loved it. No doubt about it.
Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the drinks because I did not have any, but from what I hear they are good!
Not only is the food good, but it has a nice atmosphere too! So, overall I would definitely recommend this place. I will be back.
I've been here several times, and for the most part the food and service has been pretty good. Â However, last night we received some pretty lame service. Â My wife and I sat down at the bar for some after-dinner drinks, and a guy came over to ask what we wanted. Â My wife asked if they had a Hot Toddy, or if they could make one. Â The server just looked at us, she again asked about a hot toddy - or any other hot drinks for that matter. Â The server paused again, and replied "we have hot water". Â We were kinda waiting for a chuckle or something. Â After some awkward silence, we were able to get a drink order in. Â The server was obviously pissed we ordered two overpriced cocktails. Â Then as I watched him walk down the bar, he made a joke about us/my wife ordering a hot toddy to the bartender. Â He never returned behind the bar while we were there, and it was strange. Â It was as if he went out of his way to be rude to us, and he wasn't even bar tending. Â We stayed to finish our drinks, but were ready to leave within 30 seconds after arriving. Â
Kinda a weird, bummer of a deal - especially since we live across the street and would go more often. Â Not in a hurry for more pretentious service.
I really love food, but there are rare times when my mouth actually has an orgasm. I know this sounds strange, and I'm not trying to be a pervert. But you know, when you bite into that special something and your brain stops working and all you can focus on is that incredible taste and you don't even realize you're going "oooooh god, mmmmmm". Yes, well, ladies and gentlemen, this happened to me at Brady Tavern.
You can't even rate this burger among other burgers, because quite frankly it tastes unlike any burger. It's just so good and juicy and ooooooooooo boy ya gotta try it. However! I did order the special, so it was full of extra goodness (specifically caramelized red onions, aged cheddar, and a special sauce of some sort). And I ate that whole darn thing, because it was so orgasmically good. Thank god I had it for my graduation lunch... my last meal in Tulsa... *tear*
This place has a great atmosphere, fantastic food, and excellent service. They have a variety of good cocktails that are fun to try, as well as a good beer and wine menu. I had the bone in porkchop, and it was easily the best porkchop I have ever eaten. I am not usually a pork fan, but after hearing people rave aobut it, I decided to give it a try, and I was not disappointed. Overall, it's a fun restaurant in a neat old building with great food and service. One of my new favorite places to eat in Tulsa.
Review Source:This is my late night stand-by. Â I'm thrilled that I can find a decent restaurant that is serving dinner passed 10pm. Â The burgers are really delicious, but some of the items on the menu seem a bit weak. Â I ordered the mussels and beet salad a while back and they were both poorly prepared. Â The mussels were extremely overcooked and there was so much dressing on the salad that I could barely taste the beets. Â The cocktails are pretty good, but not outstanding. Â The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the staff is very friendly. Â I'll definitely bring my out of town visitors to Brady Tavern.
Review Source:amazing. absolutely amazing. Went in with a few friends on a saturday night and my mind was completely blown.
It isn't cheap, there are some things on the menu that are around 12-18 dollars (the burger is about 13 i believe, but after nine pm it is half price. Let me tell you son, that burger is WORTH 13 dollars)
I had the surf and turf (special) and a cup of the french onion soup. I could have eaten a VAT of that soup, Oh my....i wish they were open for breakfast.
We split a cheese plate, and I ordered an ice tea. my bill plus tip was 52 dollars.
I do not mind splurging every once in awhile for awesome food, and the service was top notch to boot.
There were people dressed up, and our little group was very causually dressed so it doesnt seem to matter.
go. now. and eat.
A great experience, excellent wait staff who checked in enough without getting in the way. He had excellent suggestions from cocktails to entree when asked. I hope this place does well because it has a lot of potential. The porterhouse for two was perfectly cooked medium rare as requested. Many places seem to overcook this when asked. I also love their cocktail menu, we tried several including the bacon-infused old fashioned, which isn't as 'bacony' as you might be led to believe, but that's probably a good thing. Great time, not cheap but was worth it.
Review Source:I have eaten at the Brady Tavern several times. I think it is a wonderful find in a very neat part of the city that flaunts history, some great architecture and this fine establishment for food. Down the street from some good musical venues including Cains Ballroom. The wine selection is great but not over-priced. I start with that and the wonderful artisan cheese plate where the chef has coupled some fruit and/or preserves with a nice variety of tasty cheese that you can eat with some wonderful bread made right on premises (these are done on location by e pastry chef who also puts together some great desserts!). One of my favorite dinners is a stuffed pork chop served with succotash which is great but only one of many great selections. The environment is wonderful and the servers fantastic!
Review Source:Loud. Â Not music. Â Not kitchen noises. Â Just all of the customer chatter. Â There is nothing that is remotely sound absorbing in the two rooms that make up the restaurant. Â And it seems like they've crammed in a couple too many tables.
Food and drink is expensive.
The wait staff was good. Â
Although they lost our reservation we got seated immediately.
Would I go back? Â When I win the lottery.
I'm a frequent visitor to Tulsa from Orange County, California. And, like any good traveler, I'm looking for 1) different and 2) something close by.
Brady Tavern seemed to fit the bill: within a walkable distance (since the weather was beautiful that week). And every one of their newspaper ads mentions a burger made from brisket & short rib (my two favorite things to BBQ) along with Stilton, mushrooms and a pretzel bun. And since it is part of the McNellies Group of restaurants, I figured it would be pretty good.
I wasn't disappointed! The burger is awesome. Had it cooked medium and they did it perfectly. That combo of meats might even be moist at medium well. Stilton - my favorite cheese in the whole world (basically - English blue cheese) - made it pop and the pretzel bun is what every good burger deserves.
The space is inviting and very cozy. The bartender that took my order was friendly.
I'd also recommend the lemon tart for dessert. Next time - I'm taking the time to sit down, enjoy a beer and eat the food right when it leaves the kitchen!
OMG! Â The bacon popcorn was the best $3 we have ever spent - in our whole lives. I am not using the slightest hyperbole right now. I really, really mean it. The tomato bisque envelops the tongue like liquid velvet - so soft and smooth (thanks, I'm sure, to a ridiculous amount of cream). Serious eats. Â We're just passing through town or this would be a favorite haunt. My husband's burger with creamy cognac sauce and Stilton was a perfect, juicy, tender medium rare. Â The atmosphere is inviting and intimate; the service attentive without being obsequious. Tulsa has a gem.
Review Source:Tulsans, I'm new to your city but really, ya'll need to speak up about what's in your town. I'm coming from that cultural Mecca in the heart of Texas, and Yelpers there push out reviews in assembly line speed.
So that's why I'm surprised at how few reviews there are for this place (and others) in Tulsa. The Brady Tavern is a must for many reasons. The menu is truly epicurian. The wait staff are knowledgeable and the scene is nice. I would rethink some of the music selections though.
Still I cannot wait to go back and try more of what Brady has to offer. The in house freshly baked breads are great. The burger decadent but wonderful.
Tulsa seems to be an okay town now that I am coming down off of a twenty-plus ride in A-town Texas. I mean if the the Flaming Lips are playing around the corner next month, there's got to be some kind of pulse to this city. Brady's was a great way to get an introduction to that heartbeat.
I am visiting from Newport Beach, CA and at the recommendation of a friend we tried this place. Â The decor and ambiance is wonderful, very trendy and nicely lit so it would be perfect for a date. Â The "old cuban" cocktail is delicious and a nice spin on the traditional mojito. Â The menu is not big, with a handful of appetizers and entrees. Â We all tried the potato croquettes which were delicious and we did enjoy the deviled eggs although they weren't exceptional, just standard tasty eggs. Â I thought their onion soup was delightful and I would recommend the mashed potatoes as a side. Â I think they have one of the tastiest spinach salads around but they can go a little lighter on the bacon.
Being fairly new I gave them a little pass on being out of a couple of things on the menu but I would hope this isn't a regular occurrence. Â They were not only out of the catch of the day but also the bangers and mash which is what I would have ordered! Â The wait staff was very friendly and helpful but it wasn't terribly busy when we were there.
I would definitely say try it, it's worth it. Â I wish them all the best. Â Maybe a little music on the weekends as they do have room for it.
I love this space also as mentioned by a former reviewer. Its on the corner of a small street that is reminiscent of Beacon St in Boston, albeit shorter. The previous owner was a delightful woman and I hated to see her close. That said, I was excited about a bar professing to produce craft cocktails and farm to table food items and with a Chef's table to boot. I went there right when they first opened to check it out and had the house burger, having read it was good. I dont think I've had a better burger anywhere in Tulsa. I know burgers are not fancy food but hey, I like em. Then just this past week I saw an article with a photo about short ribs in Urban Tulsa Magazine. I called my wife (who loves well-prepared short ribs) and said lets drive downtown for dinner. We did so and guess what? No short ribs. They only serve them sometimes we were told. The server tried to sell us into what she called "housemade fish sticks breaded with cheez-its", giggling while she was saying it, clearly not comfortable with the dish. We elected to go for the terrine and some salmon pate instead. The terrine came and had about a half inch of schmaltz on the top. The pate beneath was disappointing. The salmon tasted of cream cheese with a refrigerator aftertaste  Not a good second act. They are going to have to work on the food if they want people to drive downtown to eat there.
Review Source:Let me say, as a former Lola's regular, I love this space at Main & Brady. One of my favorites as far as atmosphere for relaxing and enjoying a drink or meal. I like sitting at the bar for dinner.
The food has been excellent on my two visits. I tried the burger which is topped with thick cheese and mushroom sauce. Fries are thin and crispy. It is a fairly small burger. On my second visit, we tried Bacon Popcorn from the bar food menu. It's popped in bacon fat, drizzled with maple syrup, and served with large pieces of bacon. Very unhealthy, I'm sure, but a yummy indulgence.
My friend ordered the Bangers & Mash with mashed potatoes, wilted spinach and onion gravy. This is a homemade sausage from neighboring Fassler Hall. Flavors were excellent. I tried the Risotto Cakes. I think these were basically piles of thick cheesy risotto smashed into cakes and seared, served with mushrooms and arugula. Nice flavor but nothing special. Both of these were $14. We ordered a side of mac and cheese which was excellent and a very large portion. Good wine and beer selection. They have Coop F5 IPA on tap which is my favorite beer and isn't offered many places.
I want to love this place, but they've got to get their service in order. This is especially true when they are busy. Service is pretty slow. Also on my second visit, we wanted the burger and were told they were out, and with only five things on the menu, that doesn't leave many options. Which brings me to a point about the menu...if you look online, they offer eight entrees but that night our menu only had five choices, or four if you minus the burger.
They do need to get another bartender on weekends and busy nights. I'm hoping the service will get ironed out because food and atmosphere are great. Also wish they had a little music on weekends. Entrees are $13-$24. Sides are $6-$8. Check online for their menu.
