While staying in CO for the X-Mas holiday we noticed this place right across from our hotel. We were tired of driving so we just walked on over. It was a Sunday night so it wasn't overly populated.

The place has a comfortable interior with all types of animal heads on the walls and nice dark wooden fixtures. The staff were more than friendly and we had an attentive waitress. Prices were equivalent to other similar restaurants.

But the kicker here is that bison is extremely prevalent on the menu which is a serious plus. Ain't no bison down south so this place satisfied my goozle, as my Grandma would say!

The majority of the food we ate was just ok (didn't care for the pickles) but my bison burger was the star hands down. It was hot! It was juicy! It was lean! It tasted like bison! Combined with the fresh onion roll it was devoured in about 5 bites!

3 1/2 starts would be more accurate for this place and I'd go back for another bison burger any day!

We stopped in here for lunch after our morning flight from Detroit en route to Breckenridge.  Nice decor, slightly upscale from  National chains.  The food was very good but a little pricey.  I had one of the best burger I have had in a long time.  It was cooked a perfect med rare and had blue cheese and bacon...  other items we had were a buffalo chicken sandwich, shrimp which were both tasty...  THe kids loved it, and we would go back again in a heartbeat.

Bison steak was so damn good... First time I tried it. I was in aurora on business from California and loved the setup. True western feel, and much nicer than outback or other steak houses.

What to order? Bison steak, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus

$ range: meal and a beer will have you spending 45 bucks. Pricey, but worth it

This is a must stop if you are staying near the airport or too hungry to wait to eat upon arrival in Denver.

The food is excellent, just like any other Ted's I've visited and the service was impeccable.

Our server even made cocktail sauce from scratch because my mom didn't want tartar sauce!

Don't be afraid of the bison meat...it's so tasty and much lower in saturated fat than beef.  Yum!

On 12/21/2012, my husband and I took 4 out of town guests to what we were hoping would be a fantastic dinner.  Once seated, it took quite a long time for our waitress to come by for our drink order....which then took a much longer time to arrive.   After going around the table to take our entrée orders, I thought things were looking up until my father mentioned he hoped she was coming back quickly to get his order.  I was unable to flag down another server, so I walked to the hostess stand to get assistance.  When I pointed to our table and explained what happened, the hostess told me "I don't know who your server is, can you point her out?"   How does the hostess not know who is serving which tables?

When my mother ordered her salmon, she specified that she wanted it the rare side.   It was served to her overcooked and slightly charred on one edge - how did our server not notice this?   The plate was swiftly removed; however the wait for the new plate to come back resulted in everyone else's meal being cool.   My husband ordered a glass of wine for dinner which never arrived.  The after dinner coffee drinks were ice cold.   By this point in the meal, the general consensus was that we were lucky we even GOT our drinks.

I know it's common for a different member of the staff to serve the meal than who took the order, but in a restaurant of this caliber (and entrée price); I expect the correct meal to be placed in front of the correct guest.   Not for wait staff to play Russian roulette with the plates trying to figure out who got which order, with guests passing plates around the table to each other.

The only good part of dinner was that one of our guests was my uncle who I had not spent time with in over 10 years.  I just wish I had taken him out for a better dinner for his first trip to Colorado.

Everything we had was great. Get the bison instead of beef you won't regret it.

Good atmosphere, cozy feeling.  Here on a Friday night, around 7pm.  Place is hardly packed, eating at the bar.  Took 20 minutes to receive my burger order.  Would hate to see this place function if its busy.
Ordered the canyon burger.... Over easy egg was hard boiled, maybe that's why it took so long?
Flavor was great, fries were awesome but cold.  Lots of potential here.
Kitchen has issues, maybe undermanned?  Otherwise, service with a smile.  As always, temper expectations and you'll be a happy camper.  Cheers.

Just got back from Ted's and it was so-so.  We started with the crab cake and bison nachos.  The crab cake was not great, served with guacamole and a weird cole slaw.  The nachos were better but had watery cheese and I expected more on the waiter's recommendation.

Main courses were good - I had the bison meatloaf and it was a little dry but overall pretty tasty.  My mom had the rib eye, which was excellent.

Pros: Super friendly waiter who was very attentive.

    Cons: Lackluster food and decor.

Probably would not go back. but it's the best option close to the airport, so it is possible that I will have no choice and be there again before heading over for a flight.

Great place. Awesome that they serve so much bison. They were able to accommodate us, a 12 top on short notice and gave us great service.
Cool interior and atmosphere is sweet. Will be going back soon.

Probably one of the best choices if staying near the Denver airport. This "environmentally friendly" restaurant offers Bison dishes as its specialty. I've always had good food at this chain.

Over cooked bison burger and brutal service. Sat at the bar for a late lunch and the female bartender was horrible.

We had a reservation but were seated early.

Your purpose for visiting this restaurant should be the food, specifically the bison.  They've got a number of options as far as beef, bison, and chicken go.  However, my overall experience was really just A-OK.

Service:  The service was good.  It was a bit slow, but not slow to the point that we were upset about it.  We were there to celebrate a birthday, so we weren't in a rush.  So, service was just as it should have been for this type of restaurant.

Food:  Appetizer was bison nachos.  They tasted great, but were soggy quickly, since they were drenched in toppings.  For an entree I had the bison ribeye.  It was top notch.  I ordered it medium rare.  I got medium rare.  Its always scary to order bison at other restaurants because it isn't the easiest to cook.  However, since they kind of specialize in it, I figured we were safe, and we were.  Great piece of meat!!

Overall:  So if the service was good, and food was great, why a 3/5??  The atmosphere and ambience of the inside was really lack luster.  If they were shooting for "Montana" then I'm not sure what this was.  The place almost looked like an attempt to portray the Old West.  It failed in that.  It was almost a trendy, modern, old west-ish, awkward mix.  They really need to design and decorate with one theme in mind.  Also, we were seated at a table, not a booth.  Our chairs slid all over the floor.  Great wax job on the floor, but not good for wood on wood.  We felt like our chairs were sitting on ice.  Last but not least, the price.  The food was great.  But, it was not $40/person great.  You've gotta really be good for $40/per because that's bordering on the truly great restaurant prices.

I doubt we'll return.  We could spend the same money and get a better product elsewhere.

Despite looking like it may as well have been a small Barnes and Noble box-style store from the outside, once stepped inside the atmosphere and vibe was very warm and inviting. Dare I say it was almost like a very large fireplace-heated log cabin and had a distinctly cowboy-retro feel without feeling dated in the slightest.
Our server was energetic, personable and informative despite the late hour at which we'd dragged our jet-lagged derrieres out for the meal.
We were informed that everything was cooked from scratch and that there was no microwave on site. This was rather embarrassing for all involved when I got my bison ribs later and they were fully cooked but cold on the inside only (yikes). Other than that little incident which was very efficiently and appropriately dealt with by our server, the food was magnificent and hit the spot perfectly.
Don't overlook the squash casserole as a side dish - simply delicious.
The various burgers on the menu are all just different shades of window dressing for the Bison patties, which steal the show and are mouth watering without needing a single condiment (though there are a few of those burgers I'd love to try).
I hope a few more of these restaurants open around the country as I wouldn't hesitate for a second to go back...

Visited the grill while in town for business. Ordered the "skinny"; a bison bun-less burger and coleslaw and an iced tea. Very good service and the price was reasonable ($33 for two). The burger was fantastic, but the coleslaw was horrible - yuk. The atmosphere was good, easy to find, plenty of parking and we were seated immediately (6ish on a Wed).
I would visit again to try some of the interesting dishes.

My top 5 reasons to visit a Ted's:

    1. phenominal bison burgers and delicious fries
    2. quick and friendly service
    3. they make it a point to be a very eco-friendly company
    4. phenominal bison burgers
    5. nice, formal but laid back atmosphere

I'm already excited for my next visit when I'm back in Colorado.

The appeal here is the bison, so if you come you should try it. We had the bison pot roast and it was quite tasty. I has the salt-and-pepper trout and it was very fresh and flavorful. I recommend the squash casserole as a side.  Service was fine and the server was very friendly. I also liked that the burgers came in bison or beef so you have both options.

On the surface, Ted's looks like it might be formal but it is not - cozy setting but you can be casual dress.

I stayed in a nearby airport hotel last night and walked over to Ted's.  Being from NYC and currently living in DC, I was pretty impressed with Ted's (for Denver).  I wish I liked burgers because I've never seen such a selection.  I went with the housemade veggie burger and it was the best homemade veggie burger i've ever had!  I completely disagree with the reviewer Kurt from last month.  The veggie burger is delish!  I would go back if I missed my flight again.

Delicious! My husband and I were stranded here after we missed our flight. I got the bison cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese and my husband got the Cadillac beef burger. So juicy! Plus the fries are like thicker versions of In n Out fries. Service was quick and she always kept our drinks full. Also prices are average (12-15 a plate). Why would  anyone eat at the Apple Bees next door?

    they have consistency issues.

When they are slow, the food is phenomenal and so is the service.  But whenever I visit this place when they are busy they drop the ball:

I will recall my most recent experience after just being served a veggie burger that was mushed together like a sloppy joe.  Literally, the "patty" resembled a pile of dog food that was mold-able and wouldn't hold form.  Like some sort of primordial clay between two buns.  I think i described it as cream of mushroom clay - but I digress.

Anyway, I asked the server very politely:  "are you trying a new recipe on the veggie burger?"  She says:  "oh yea, that's how it looks - I don't recommend the veggie burger, this IS as steakhouse after all"

Just because you "Don't recommend it" doesn't excuse the fact that you served it! AND never explained to me that I actually just ordered the veggie dog food not a veggie burger.  This was nothing that resembles OR tastes like a veggie burger at all.

In other news the rest of the Burgers came out well.

My waitress also forgot to put the order in for the steak salad to go that I asked her to time with the meal so I wouldn't be late.  So much for that.

Anyway, i'm not sure about how I feel going back here again.

Food was good but be prepared for a lot of food.  I had the buffalo burger with onions and avacado.  Tasty!!!  Had to give it a try when you don't get to eat buffalo often.  Meat is tender and yummy!

My burger was okay. Definitely didn't taste like a $15 burger though. A plus was that the burger was not oily. HOWEVER, I did get the runs after going to this place so yeah. No go for me.

Bison burger and fries not a bad meal for the day.  Honestly I still am a fan of a real burger made with hamburger.  Ok meat.   I know bison is less fat but if I have one give me the real thing.  35.00 for 2 bison burgers, 1 fry, 1 just ok coleslaw and 2 drinks.  Non alcoholic at that.  A bit expensive.  With my dad so it was a nice lunch.

SLOW!  Even when you dine early they're SLOW!  Very irritating.  If you're alone, eat at the bar where the only service is located.

Stick to meatloaf.  Serious.  The steaks are always overcooked and dry.

As much as I WANT to like the place, after 4 tries, I give up.  I'd rather eat at Applebees next door.

A lot of little quirks made my visit to Ted's Montana Grill a pleasant experience.  The décor was fun.  The atmosphere was sort of loud, with screaming children (more than usual in public it seemed) and it was unusually dimly lit.  The staff was friendly and casual (server wore jeans and a nice white button-up shirt).

I heard the beef is ground right at the site.  And you can tell.  The meat is of exceptional quality and I enjoyed my bacon bison burger with Swiss cheese.  It was juicy! The grease dribbled down my chin onto my shirt.  That's the sign of a tasty burger.   They serve paper straws with beverages.  The salads were admirable and dessert was a delightful apple crisp served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I will visit again.  You should give Ted's a try.  You'll be glad you did.

Great beef burgers and the fries are to die for!  The onion rings are very good, also.  I don't care for bison but everyone I've gone with that ordered bison was very happy.  Love the decor; the bathrooms remind me of the bathrooms in the Jack Nicholson version of "The Shining."

Sometimes I crave Ted's and call in a pick-up order!

Yeah, didn't do it tonight. This place is usually pretty solid but they missed bad tonight.

Slow service from the get go.  It took at least 15 minutes for anyone to even recognize that we were present.  Drinks took forever, but the food was out rather fast.  Again, however, it took forever to flag the waiter down to get a check, and the place was empty.  He just never came out of the kitchen.  Dude just wasn't feeling it.

My wife ordered a salmon salad for $15 and it was like an appetizer salad from Chilis or something.  The profit margin on that thing must be 95%.

My bison burger was okay, but I realized after a couple of bites that it was overdone; the waiter had never asked me how I wanted it cooked.  For $15, I shouldn't have to remember these details.  We had a 2 year old and an infant with us; I need the waiter to do his job without any prompting.

The manager noticed the bad service our table and a couple of other tables were getting, but did nothing about it.  Seriously, it was just like no one cared that night.  It's almost as if they one day realized they were a chain restaurant and said "screw it."

I usually give a restaurant 3 strikes before I refuse to go back, but this place just costs too much money for the food and service they offer.  I'm not saying I won't ever go there again, but it will be some time before I do.

Bleh.  I'm actually kind of a fan of this chain.   I love the half-sour (salty) pickles they give you and their burgers are usually very good.  So this review is really about this particular location.

A friend and his family got stuck at the Denver airport during Hurricane Irene so I drove out to meet them for dinner.  I took them to Ted's because it was close, it was quick food, and I thought they'd get a kick from eating some bison.

In a nutshell, this was probably the worst meal I've had at a Ted's.   It was edible, but just not that great.  Burgers were tasteless, filet was just OK, just disappointing overall.

I won't hesitate to stop in at one of the other locations around town but probably not here again.

I came here on a Sunday night, and it was surprisingly busy.

I ordered the prime rib with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes.  The prime rib was nice and fatty, but overcooked.  I asked for a medium rare, and what I got was medium-well.  But it tasted okay.  The garlic mashed potatoes had a nice flavor, and had more potato texture than most, which I enjoyed.  The veggies were decent.

It's better than your average chain.  But your average chain is below average.  So this place gets three stars.

I went a couple of months ago and did not have a good experience.  So there was a survey on the bottom of our receipt.  I took the survey and the days received an e-mail from the Manager saying that they were sorry that I had a bad experience and they wanted to make it right.

They definitely did and since that time I'm happy to report that all has been well and the food has been very enjoyable and tasty.

I do think that the prices are a little high and wish that they were lower and that is what keeps up from going back on a very regular basis.

I don't know why I let my husband talk me into eating at Ted's? He was in the mood for a steak and we were right down the road.

The food is not horrible just bland and BORING!! I ordered a filet and was hoping to get hollandaise sauce or sauteed mushrooms..something. Nope! The steak was a tad bit overcooked, but still tender.

The server was kind of strange and did not pay much attention to us.

We did have an awesome apple crisp! We should have just skipped the dinner and went for the dessert!

    Never again!!

Bland in the extreme. The husband and I have given this place two shots and were drastically underwhelmed both times.

The steaks were serviceable, but certainly not exciting and the sides were, again, bland.

Service is of the kind that thinks they're doing you a favor - my least favorite species of waitstaff.

    We won't be back.

It's all about the bison! A very lean and healthy protein. Normally, things that are good for you don't taste that great. Not so with bison. Ted's seems to serve it up perfectly every time...juicy and perfect. Ted's also offers poultry and beef, and I've tried each...but the bison is really the way to go.

Service is usually quick. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Since this Ted's is located right in the middle of a series of hotels that serves the airport, there is a high number of visitors that frequent Ted's. Highly recommended to locals and visitors alike!

It was Hubs Birthday on Wednesday April 21st.  We went here for lunch since it was nearest to our house and Hubs wants something different.  It was for a slightly late lunch at about 13:45hrs ish.  Hmm, something different like a Bison Burger, mind you.

When we arrived, there are many other patrons, enjoying their lunch meal.  We were greeted and seated promptly.  We were seated in one of the booth.  This place indeed reminds me of the "Old-old West" decor, from what I have seen in the movies.  The service was prompt, polite, fast and friendly.

Hubs order the Bison burger while I opt for the St. Phillip's Island Crab Cakes as my main entree.  This entree comes with asparagus and cole slaw.  We shared the Karen's "Flying D" Bison Chili and "Salt-n'-Pepper" Onion Rings.  We both like the Bison Chili and the Onion Rings.

I like the Crab Cakes but Hubs did not fancy his Bison order.  Hubs forgot to ask the waitstaff to have his Burger to be well done instead of medium.  Oh well.  We were stuffed by the end of the lunch meal.  We opt for a to go box for the left-overs and order a Key Lime Pie to go too.  When we mentioned it was Hub's Birthday, we were not offer any discount what so ever.  Bummer.

Got the free cookie as part of Hub's birthday treat.  Our waitstaff was indeed gracious, polite and welcoming.  All in all 3.5 stars for this restaurant.

Had one of my favorite business dinners of all time here -- so healthy!! I never would have believed I could achieve this level of healthy sustainability outside of my SOMA Whole Foods.  Got a salad followed by a bison burger (no bun) + avocado + heirloom tomatoes.  Ruined it all with a strawberry shortcake for dessert, but totally worth it.

Service was great: fast and polite.

Prices were up there but worth it for the product served.

We had a one night stay on tower road and was looking for dinner.  This place was on the list of nearby resturants but the hotel staff had no personal experiance.  A quick check of Yelp showed lots of good reviews.  We lucked out and got one of the cozy booths.  I tried the delmonico Bison and my wife had the filet Bison.
The salad came fast and were ice cold with three different types of lettuce.  The waitress, Jill was perfect !  She knew the menu, suggested items for us (first timers) and was very attentive.  Everything we ordered came quick.  The bison was great, very tender and tasty.  I will surely be back maybe for lunch as they have tons of funky burger combonations that look awesome.

As an itinerant business traveler, I live out of hotels and Ted's is right next to my current home-away-from-home, so I've eaten there several times over the last week or so.  Service is always good (I usually sit at the bar).

I've had the steak and the burgers, both bison and both were excellent.  Now I'm normally not a red-meat-n-potatoes guy, but you could do a LOT worse than Ted's.  The bison burgers are right up there with the best ever - juicy without being greasy, flavorful and properly cooked.  Love the fires too.  The steaks (ribeye, NY strip) ditto - the bison has a great flavor without being "gamy", IMO.  Both steaks were a bit underdone for my tastes, but I think I'm just used to things being a bit OVERcooked, so it's probably just me.

It's kinda expensive, tho.  For us business travelers that's OK, but dinner will set you back $20 (burger + bev.)-$30 (steak).  Ted's may be environmentally friendly, but vegetarian-friendly it definitely is not.  But if you have a taste for some red meat, check out Ted's.

Was traveling in Denver and stopped here night before flying out. Sat at the bar and had dinner here.

Bar staff was friendly and chatted freely. I ordered the bison rib eye, asparagus and sweet potato. Food was well prepared and reasonably priced compared to competing restaurants.

If you are staying in the adjacent hotels before a flight, Ted's Montana Grill is a good choice for steak, and is a step above the other chains located in the area.

If you are looking for something other than steaks or burgers, you might look elsewhere as the menu was primarily those items... but if you are looking for steak or burgers, this is the right choice.

Travel to the Denver area on business frequently.  Ted's is one of my regular dining places when I'm out there.

It's a chain restaurant with a formula that works well.  Large portions of mostly meat dishes.  Steaks are always done perfectly.  Buffalo on the menu makes for a nice change - it's a lean meat so you need to not get it over cooked, medium works well.  The Chili is hearty and filling.  The Tomato salad is one of my regular orders.  Sweet Potato is another favorite treat - loaded with butter and brown sugar - yummy.  Had the fish a few times, and it was always prepared perfectly (as in not over cooked).  Decent wine and beer selection.  Love the Big Sky Pinot Noir.  Service is well coordinated and prompt.

Bottom line - for a big meat based meal, Ted's is great!  Good value, large portions, tasty food, excellent service.  For a chain restaurant they do things right.

Edit - Back to Ted's twice this week.  Had the filet one night, and a burger another.  Both meals were excellent!  Filet was cooked perfectly  - I ordered medium, and it came done exactly at medium.  Had the beef burger this evening.  Tasty, juicy, also done perfectly.  Toppings were tasty, side of asparagus was great!   Overall this place has been consistently excellent -it's not a super high end place for dinner, but I'm bumping it up to 5 stars based on all the things it does so well.
