This place is a really wonderful addition to the square! Formerly known as Tequila Si, and recently relocated from Broadway to the square, this little gem has an awesome atmosphere and great selection of Mexican food.
Hubby and I arrived on a busy Friday night, but managed to snag a window seat in the bar section. The music selection was nice --not too loud, but audible. We easily carried a conversation without shouting. The chips and salsa were good, but not anything I'd call stellar. However, when you're sorting through their huge margarita drink menu...it's great to have something to snack on!
Their drink list is HUGE! Seriously, so many margs to choose from...it took me a while to narrow it down to one. When it arrived at the table, it was HUGE and strong. Definitely no complaints on the amount of booze in the drink. My husband ordered the traditional on the rocks, and I ordered the blended blue traditional (shot of curacao added in)...both of which arrived in a drink container the size of a fishbowl. Be prepared. Eat more chips.
Their food menu is TOP NOTCH. I tried the 'you pick platter' option, and mixed a variety of tamales and carnitas tacos. Tamales are hard to perfect on a large scale, but Tequila did them right! So wonderful. The red rice and beans were great --the carnitas had a great seasoning on them. Everything came up quickly, hot and fresh, and our server was attentive and speedy.
My only gripe was that the wait staff kept opening the front door to let out the smoke from people's fajita platters. We were located right by the doors, which made part of the evening very chilly...and it's hard to enjoy a meal in a coat. With an adjustment to the ventilation, this could be an easy fix.
Overall, I was very impressed with Tequila. I'll be back soon to try something else!
