Thai Orchid

Yelp led my group of co-workers and I to Thai Orchid after deciding to pass on the  nearby Noodles & Co.  We made the right choice.  We were there for lunch so we were able to enjoy the $6.99 lunch menu.   The lunch menu included soup, salad and a spring roll.

The coconut soup that came with the lunch was very delicious, but the portion was small.  I just really started enjoying it, then it was gone.  I would like to have seen more than 6 or 7 spoonfuls...seriously, it was that small.

I am not very knowledgeable regarding Thai food so I chose the old standby Pad Thai.  It was served with a small salad and a piping hot spring roll.  The Pad Thai was delicious.  The rice noodles seemed to be homemade and were expertly cooked, not mushy at all.  I had tofu in my order and it was perfect, slightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a great texture.  The egg in the dish was plentiful.  

I will certainly return on my next visit to Plainfield and be a little more adventurous.

Great for lunch.  I had the Thai fried rice which was delicious and the perfect portion.  Generally I'm used to have far too much at other Thai food restaurants.  The atmosphere is great with a clean and comfortable dinning area.  The service was good too albeit a bit slow, but I believe that was the result of so many people in there for lunch.  Overall a great place to eat :D

I think this place is great for lunch!  It hasn't been open long.  They have about 15 different dishes to choose from for 7.99 for lunch.  My co-workers and I stop in here once every couple of weeks.  You can request different levels of spice to suit your taste which I like.....Mild, hot, extra hot, and Thai Hot!  I would recommend this place for a good change of pace!
