We usually get it to go, but the in store service is good to.
    I love the Buddah shrine.
The coconut soup is my favorite

We came looking for food with heat, and tried Thai This because of the good reviews.  We ordered several things listed as spicy, and although tasty, there was NO HEAT to be found. The dining room was surprisingly upscale but I agree with the other review that some background music or something is necessary, I could hear (against my will) everything going on at all the other tables. The wait staff was friendly and on the ball.  We may give it one more try.

Seriously scary.  Basil chicken had no basil.  I sent it back and five minutes later they came out and said they ran out of basil (but served it anyway).  Tried minty pork - out of mint.  Grocery store three blocks away.  Empty restaurant for very good reason.

Very slow service, good luck getting a glass refilled with water or whatever you are drinking.  Goofy menu with cutesy names that make no sense including to experienced Thai food fans.  However the food is good but expensive.  Prefer Thai Dara which is also in Dana Point.

Meh, I've definitely had better Thai food. Confusing menu and of course everything is made to share. The Pad Thai was super dry and I would have preferred a bit more sauce on it. Rice was good, nothing out of this world, but good.

The chicken "spicy" lunch plate was excellent, but wasn't as spicy as I had anticipated. Nevertheless it is a very good restaurant.

I'm so addicted to their #56, Drunken Noodle.  The choice of blended vegetables is just delightful.  I opt for tofu instead of the shrimp & chicken that normally comes with the dish.  This has to be the BEST tofu I've ever had in my life.  Recently I've started requesting more noodles to be added in because of how delicious they are!  What a wonderful $3 decision :)

Another favorite dish is the Sweet Sticky Rice dessert .  Normally I would enjoy mangoes along side the rice, but being that they're currently not in season our server suggested coconut ice cream.  She was right on!  The mix of the warm rice and milky ice cream was just delightful!

And that brings me to my FAVORITE thing about Thai This...the service.  I've never had a bad experience there, ever.  The staff is so friendly and more than willing to help my extremely picky boyfriend through their menu.

Recently, we found ourselves in Laguna Beach and had a craving for Thai.  Looking for something close we visited Thai by the Sea (which had amazing Yelp reviews).  Let's just say all we ordered was one soda and agreed to take a drive down PCH to Thai This.  We made a promise to one another that we were no longer going to 'try' any other Thai places.

    It's just that good!

Service is sufficient ...the food ....MEH BLEH SNORE.... If I order a 7-heat dish at Thai Brothers or Georges I will have flames coming out of my ears! The Chicken Coconunt Soup was way too creamy...tasted like it had roux in it (which it should not) The Pad Thai was really bland...They gave me "hot Sauce" which should have been called tart sauce becauce it was more sour than anything.....Americanized Homogenized blandblandbland. I had seen this place about a 1000 times but never went in...was looking for a place to treat myself to lunch and Thai zesty yummy complex goodness sounded perfect but I was denied. Next time I will deal with Laguna traffic and go to Thai Bros....so much better than this place could ever try to be.....and then this wiered regulations list on the menu ....something about if you hurt yourself you are just clumsy and if you break anything while dining it will b added to your bill...LOL NEVER in over 20 years as a food and beverage professional have I EVER seen such a thing LOLOLOLOL

Relaxing atmosphere, attentive servers, and delicious food. The cream cheese and avocado wontons are to die for. The Crying Tiger and the Fire Bird are great entrees. Also, there's a beautiful harbor view right down the street for after your meal. I will definitely be returning soon.

LOVE THIS PLACE. Beware of Thursday nights though, as its half price apps and the place gets crowded. Love everything on the menu! Absolutely everything!

Good food, friendly service, unique dining concept.  We enjoyed ourselves.

Highlights:  interesting menu - quirky food categories, yummy fruity cocktails, substantial wine list, variety of choices.  Enjoyed the #56, Drunken Noodle and #44, Spicy Fire Chicken.  The Doug's Favorite Soup was good, but we thought it would be more spicy than it was.  Our server was passionate and full of life, she offered suggestions and favorite with ease.

Cons:  Not much privacy in the dining room.  The dining room is quiet (no music) and at times it felt like the nearby patrons were listening to other people's conversations.  A man in the table next to us passed gas (fairly loud) and excused himself, which I've never experienced before.

It was Christmas day and we were searching for a place to get some good food.. Saw that this place was open so we decided to give it a try! First of all, the menu was bizarre. We have been to lots of Thai restaurants and I've neer seen a thai joint with a more confusing menu. Hard to understand the way it's laid out. We ordered Massaman chicken and Panang chicken curry. I LOVED both of the dishes but found that they tasted almost identical, which was strange. The place was packed but they served us fairly quickly and the waitress was friendly and helpful. Prices were definitely reasonable too.

This restaurant is a great experience. Knowledgeable staff, a full bar, hilarious menu, and great atmosphere make for a great dinner experience. Among the best Thai restaurants in the OC. A great stop for anyone who is driving through Dana Point. Oh, and ask them about their Miso Honi drink

This is not authentic Thai. The soups are bland with no flavor. The entrees lacked and depth or flavor you get from good Thai places, The only thing I would recommend is the avocado and cream cheese fried won-tons. Everything else is terrible.

I asked the server for Thai peppers when we got our entrees and she tells me they don't have any peppers. Everyone that knows Thai food knows what I'm talking about - it's the 3 or 4 small bowls of dry pepper, Thai peppers in vinegar, red hot pepper sauce and sometimes sugar. Every single Thai restaurant I've been too has one but this place does not - that should have been a sign for me that this place is not going to do it for us and walked out.

I would not recommend this place to anybody and will not return.

Three of us went to this restaurant on 7/25/2012.  We were very hungry and got there about 11-25am. The restaurant was scheduled to open at 11-30am. but it was locked up and dark inside when 11-30am came around.
At 11-40am there was still no sign of it opening up so we decided to leave and go to the Chinese restaurant not far away.  As we were walking away a girl came up the pathway and said that she could open it up for us.  We thought about the length of time it would be before we would actually have food on the table since the cook wasn't even there. We decided to go to the Chinese place instead.
I guess we will never know what Thai This food tastes like as we won't go back.                                                                                                                                 Not even one staff member could make it on time.  Not good enough!

I was thrilled to try this place. Who wouldn't be when the restaurant's name is Thai This?!

Thai Tea - Very good, not too sweet

Vegetable soup - Refreshing and healthy

Side salad with fried wontons with a hint of avocado - Creamy and delicious

Golden Triangle with a light fish sauce infused with refreshing cucumber - YUM!

Chicken Satay was perfect and their peanut sauce is addicting.

Chicken Pad See-Ew -  Lots of chicken, but would have liked more sauce and noodles

Yellow Curry w/ Chicken - Heavier and bolder flavors than I've had at other Thai restaurants

Excellent service here. I asked for hot sauce and our waitress gave me Sambal(garlic chili sauce) and Sriracha (Thai hot sauce).

    I was a happy coconut.

Have eaten here 30+ times since they opened 20 years ago.  I've been to Thai restaurants all over the country including Washington DC and New York and this restaurant beats the dozens of other places I've been.  If you like your Thai food traditionally spicy like you would get in Thailand, just ask, and they will fix your dish that way.

This place is very popular, especially on the weekends.  Expect a wait if you come late.

    Grand Total w/tip - $30

When I walked up to the unassuming store front, I thought it would be a simple sit down, non-descript restaurant with your average decor. Nope, I was wrong.

This is a relatively posh, sit down Thai restaurant in Dana Point which helps explain the pricing. 'Not overly expensive but a bit pricier than my coupon-cutting, "take everything home in a doggy bad," self expected... ('About $12 - $16/entree)
    Good food?... 'Very.

Dimly lit interior, rich woods & linen, Sinatra being played in the background...
But I have to add, it was a bit stuffy. (i.e. - clientele) 'But not surprising.
There is also a small bar area, very small... 'Might seat 5 people at most! 'Looked like it might be fun to check out on another visit! 'Another yelp*er Sassan P. mentioned they make a "fantastic martini." 'Sounds promising!

The staff was helpful, friendly, & unpretentious. 'Other yelp*ers have commented on the service being slow but I have to add, the restaurant was not very crowded when I went. 'Might explain why my wait time wasn't too bad.

Everything I have had here is super yummy nom nom's. =)
My absolute FAVORITE appetizer is the fried wontons. There is even a lil bit of avo inside with the yummiest dipping sauce. It is unlike ANY other crispy wontons I have ever had. I will definantly drive the hour there for it. Now, I have been there many times, but I have only tried one dinner. It's so good I keep going back for the same dish. Its excellent !!!
I do think there is FAAAAAR too many tables and the ones in the back are so close together the back of your chair hits the back of the next chair. Closeness freaks me out anyhow, so it's just a bit much for me. Large parking lot, close to the harbor. The place is clean, quiet and cool for being inside of what looks like a huge victorian house.

+1 star for clearly marking which options are gluten-free or can be made gluten-free if you ask!

Wow! The girlfriend and I had a huge craving for Thai food. I'd never been to Thai This so we stopped by for dinner on a holiday evening. There was no wait... in fact, there were only two other patrons there.

The interior is very clean and they pack in quite a few tables for such a small location, without being too crowded.

As a starter, I ordered the Tiny Thai, which are small rice paper rolls stuffed with vegetables and spices, then wrapped in lettuce and a sweet and sour cucumber sauce for dipping. I wasn't terribly impressed with them, but the girlfriend liked them.

We then ordered a bowl of the Tom Kha Kai, which is coconut lemongrass chicken soup. This is slightly more than enough for two hungry people. The combination of coconut milk and chicken is perfect.

For dinner, she ordered the Green Jungle (green curry) but substituted chicken for shrimp. I'm not a huge shrimp fan either so I'd have done the same thing. The green curry and basil was the right balance of sweet and smooth, with a small hint of spice.

I had the Phat Kee Mao (Druken Noodles). It was sparse on the shrimp, but had plenty of chicken. I'd have preferred a bit more spice, so next time I'll ask for more.

The portion sizes might not be the gigantic size of some other Thai places (thinking Thai Bite), but it's plenty for a single meal. Prices are a bit on the high side. The total bill for us was about $50 including tip.

This is a great restaurant.  They actually know how to make a fantastic martini which is surprising for a Thai place, but this is south Orange County, so expect quality down here.  They staff is super friendly, the owner, Jib, is the nicest guy, he comes around and talks to the customers, and has a greate sense of humor.

The food is great, I love the coconut milk/lemon grass soup it's a staple in most Thai places.  The menu is literally huge, there are like 100 items, every variation of Thai shrimp, chicken, & beef, sour, spicy, noodled, rice, everything you can think of just about is on there.

There's only one problem with this place, the kitchen closes really early, I'm pretty sure they won't serve you after 10:00pm no matter what day of the week.  But I have gone here about 20 times, and whenever I'm craving Thai in the Laguna/Dana Point area, nothing around compares to here.

Doug's favorite soup is my favorite soup. And they will make it with chicken AND shrimp! OMG~
Otherwise, the food here is as good as any other Thai restaurant but serve way less. Waaaaaay less. The prices are the same, the food is the same, but the amount of food is less.
I am not a big girl but I eat a lot and coming out anywhere on someone else's dime means: less money and more food.
The ambience is absolutely love with the candles and the cloth napkins. The waitstaff are very diligent and very patient with my very demanding client but catered to every need and made sure me (the Asian girl) got chopsticks. Maybe it was cause my fork never seemed to keep ahold of the food and I looked so sad and dismal...
Anyways, Doug's favorite. Eat it. Drink it. Savor it. Unless you're allergic to coconut. In which case... why are you in a Thai restaurant?

Thai This is owned and run by wonderful Thai people who are very gracious and want you to have an excellent meal and experience. We've been coming here consistantly for 15 years and the food and ambiance is consistantty excellent.

The rib appetizers are yummy - I usually ask for the ribs to come out hotter because I like the really hot! Satay always good and may other appetizers. *** Thurs night is 1/2 price appetizers *** great night to go and get several appetizers! Someone asked what a crispy bong is - shrimp deep fried w/ mozzerella cheese and then you dip in sweet and sour sauce.

The shrimp are yummy - always large and plump - I get the #52 which is shrimp, scallops, veggies on rice noodles with a green curry sauce. Realistically, I like most of the dishes - just order what you like and you'll be happy.

The drinks are strong and they have an extensive wine list. Jib, the owner, knows wine and is always tasting new wines. If you sit at the 4 person bar, be sure to have a designated driver or a cab take you home.

    Great restaurant.

Also, there is a box on the bar - if you put money into this box, Jib takes this to an orphanage in Thailand every year. This money goes to real people - so give some money to the kids, if you feel inclined. :)

Went here for one of my friend's Birthday's. I'd never had Thai so I didn't know what to expect. I got here about 30 minutes before the rest of the group came (they were running late...as always) so I walked in to see what the inside was like. The second I walked in, I was greeted by two different hostesses right away, nice!

Noticed a friend of my friend's was already at the bar (drunk...obviously) so I went to sit in the stool next to him and was immediately served a glass of beer with my friend's friend saying "dude, Michelle...it's on me." Ok, sweet.

When the rest of the party finally showed up...we got seated right away...which is nice for a party of 12. Had no idea what to order...so everyone let me try some of what they got. I honestly don't remember anything I ate...I just remember walking out thinking I'd probably not eat Thai again (or at least at this place) unless I go with a party...it just did not have that big of impression on me. On the plus side, service was great...a server came by every 5 mins or so to see if everything was ok....rad!

+3 stars for service. -2 stars for lack of good tasting food....

The waitstaff was nice, but the food was a little heavy on the sauce.  I like to be able to taste my meat and have it enhanced by the sauce, not just eat sauce all night.  This place is a little on the pricey side for Thai food.  $15 on average per plate of sauce is not what I consider a good deal.

The service was OK, but it didn't help that the waitress asked my boyfriend if I was his daughter.

Next time, I'll just drive to L.A.

A rare find when everyone orders something that looks good!

The names of the menu items will make you laugh!  We had the "Holy Cow" (filet mignon in red curry) and the "Naked Shrimp" (prawns over a crisp salad with a perfectly balanced hot & sour dressing).  Both were fantastic.  A perfect menu--not too many items as to be overwhelming, or too few, and well organized.  I found the prices reasonable.  The filet mignon dish was around $15 with rice.

The waitstaff here were phenomenally warm and friendly, and gave great suggestions on the menu.  One of the waitresses even gave a complimentary snack to the kid that was with our group while we waited for our orders--so thoughtful!  I love when people go above and beyond!  Another bonus-- water was always re-filled quickly.  Even though we went with a large party, our waitress took the liberty of splitting the check for each of the groups in our party so there would be no confusion!  It was such a relief compared to getting the typical server eye-roll when you ask for separate checks.

This would be a great place for a first time Thai food experience or a date (quiet but not too quiet, reasonably priced, candlelit but nothing too fancy shmancy).  Next time I'm going to order based on how funny or weird the name of the menu item is!

    Ambience- ok.
I came here in a date and he reserved the bamboo hut, which was cool.
It's a literal hut inside the restaurant pushed off in the corner in the cut.
We felt pretty cool but the hut is directed out towards the rest of the restaurant so you have to watch everybody else eating.

    The food however, was BOMB
There were a lot of vegetarian options.
To make it easier for you they have every veg dish or any veg-adaptable dish circled.

We had the mee krong friend noodles first- BOMB
And then the drunken noodles with mushrooms spicy- BOMBx2

    Awesome.

    I vote this place vegetarian-friendly.

PS  they had a specialty dish we didn't try called the "crispy  bong" if anyone tries this PLEASE message me and tell me what/how it is!

This is actually my favorite restaurant hands down.  The prices are reasonable, the service is always good, the portions are just right and the food... the food is amazing.  I just love this place, it's very classy and affordable.  I especially recommend the following dishes:

#23- Doug's Favorite Soup (get the bowl, with chicken)
    #40- Road Runner (chicken)

It's really hard to go wrong with just about anything on their menu.  I'm looking forward to my next meal there.

Catchy name but a disappointment after the other reviews.

Quite bad really when compared to anything more authentic.   Some of the food was okay but curries are a must in any Thai restaurant and theirs are not very good.  Also, the Pad Thai was the worst I've ever had.

Perhaps it was an off day and I'll be back.....(Not)

Not super authentic Thai, but still really yummy food!!!! I especially love the drunken noodles & the sticky rice w/ mango.  The menu makes me laugh cuz it's so cheesy...but, kinda cute too...they tried.  They also have very good service...the waitresses are on it with refilling the water glasses...love that.

I always wonder when I sit down...why do they have "Happy New Year" plates on the tables - all year long?

    Eh...so-so Thai at this joint.

I used to live near Dana Point Beach and this was one of the few Thai food options around. Now I'm in Brooklyn and there's Thai places all over New York City that I've tried.

Thai This is okay, but I'm sure you can find better Thai joints around if you search. If you can't find good Thai in Cali, come to New York and you'll see them all over!

I've really enjoyed the three times I've been to this restaurant.  I've had something different each time (both for food and for drink) and I'll be going back for more.

Most recent visit (Jan. 07), tried the "Crying Tiger" steak.  Very pleasantly surprised by the tangy lime sauce that was served with it.

I was very surprised by the wine list.  Lots of cool finds on it.
