Good food, a little pricey. I've gone here for dinner & drinks many times over the years, but it seems they have cut the portions of food & upped there prices.  Had a bad experience tonight.  I am handicapped & have trouble walking & talking. I had dessert & a drink, but when I ordered a second drink I was cut off by the bartender.  No explanation, no questions, just cut off. " Left me with a bad taste in my mouth".  I will not go back to this establishment.

What a cute restaurant/bar! I loved the interior of worn wood and antique signs. Made it feel rustic. The tables are a bit tippy but fine...and the bar is very cute. We ordered a few really good wines, their house wine is good and very cheap!  We also shared calamari appetizer that was very good then I had tacos that were very tasty! The servers were very nice, but a few times it was hard to get our servers attention because she was chatting for long periods of time with another employee not looking over... and we were the only people in the bar.  That was a tad frustrating, but when we did have her attention she was very nice and on the ball. Pretty good experience overall.

I can't say enough good things about this place. I went there last night for my birthday dinner. It just happened to be half price wine night which is probably one of my favorite things about Mondays now. The onion rings, while a little underdone, were still amazing. The spicy chipotle aoili was deserving of ordered seconds of. The asada was moist and delicous. The sausage was a nice added touch.

Also, the free chocolate truffle cake slice for my birthday? Holy wow!

I love you, Tin Room. You complete me.

The Truth about the Tin Room

I will preface this review by stating I REALLY wanted to like this place.  Cool signage, atmosphere, outdoor patio, slate bar top and the promise of a hand crafted cocktail await you - as fresh fruits and a juice press are prominently displayed.  However, the service, quality, delivery, and price do not match the overall experience.  A West Seattle native, I have friends who live in Burien, and we have tried many times over the last few years hoping it had improved.  Aside from the addition of a very cool indie neighborhood theater, where they randomly show older movies (hence the additional star), there have been no improvements.   This place truly deserves 1 star,  Here's why:

Consistently, we have experienced untimely and less than courteous service.  The food is expensive for what you get and lack luster when it FINALLY arrives.  Examples; more than once, the waitress walked away from the table WHILE one of our friends was trying to ask Questions to ultimately add to our order, and more notably, on several occasions, the male bartender (who always seems to be there) was flat out rude, with a piss-poor attitude and ZE-RO personality, except for that which he would 'turn on' for his female co-workers, and a *few* regulars, and it would turn off just as fast. On several occasions, the portions were shy and inconsistent. We tried the, "Hand made potato chips", - and they were, unmistakably, absolutely identifiably; Tim's Cascade chips you can get at any grocer.  We laughed it off,  but I HATE being lied to.

Ultimately, we learned this place was very expensive for the neighborhood, the service and the quality, so we tried to, "show it the Love" during Happy Hour.  We first found that they do not offer Happy Hour. (really?) At a later date, we discovered that they started to offer happy hour - but only on food.  Tried it - and it was (basically) a joke. a handful of selected items discounted over a 2 hour window and it wasn't a true discount as we came to discover the portions were reduced.  Not an unusual practice for happy hour - but most businesses then also reduce the price of selected beverages (at least the well drinks).  Not at this time, is what we were told. THE FINAL STRAW; was when we heard from a friend that they finally improved their happy hour so we decided to give The Tin Room yet ANOTHER chance.  We walked in on a Tuesday Afternoon at 5:20pm.  This was during their, "Happy Hour."  We were excited to learn that they finally, "improved' The happy hour.  We were advised they were now (finally) offering Happy Hour specials on "most" of the cocktails.  My friend ordered a double Belvedere & Tonic, and I ordered a Baccardi & Soda.  We didn't even ask for any fancy juice pressed additives - just a lemon wedge.  The rude / inattentive bartender (mentioned above) didn't even bother to ask if we wanted to order food and assumed we were done, - and handed us a bill.  The total came to $28.80... FOR 2 COCKTAILS ON A TUESDAY AFTERNOON DURING HAPPY HOUR!  Are you kidding!?  We were blown away.  Doubles or not, this price point is grossly egregious.  These Were Downtown Seattle prices - in fact Higher. I haven't spent that much on 2 cocktails on a Friday night - not even at the likes of El Goucho or Canlis. Ridiculous, only begins to describe it.  Most places in the Downtown / Cap Hill area - for example - during Happy Hour are offering an extended happy hour, charging about $9 double Belvedere, and Baccardi is in most Wells for around $5 or $6.  Another thing worth mentioning, is that Not only is the Tin Room not Shy about their BIG prices, -their pour sure isn't...but it doesn't stop there either.  Most bars build the tax into the cost of the beverage.  Ergo, on a $6 Cocktail, the responsibility of the tax is assumed by the establishment.  However, The Tin Room's Bill was also not shy about passing the tax on to their customers - who are ALREADY being grossly overcharged.  Especially for the neighborhood.  When you ponder the real estate cost (rent - etc.) VS Downtown Seattle / Cap Hill, -you really start getting a clear picture of how this place is taking advantage of its patrons.  I will call a spade a spade: They're greedy.  We walked away after this experience having made the firm and final decision to never set foot in there again.  Its too bad, because we really wanted to check out a flick there in the tiny movie house... but when you burn a hole in my wallet (so many times over) - you burn a hole in my stomach, and I can't stomach the though of knowing I'm being flat out raped.

*IF you must - absolutely MUST go there, avoid the main bar / restaurant all together and go there just for a movie.  The theater side is to the right.  But know that each and every dollar you spend there is supporting owners who don't care about anything other than lining their own pockets.

The drinks are pretty good and the staff has always been hospitable.  The only reason I give it 3 stars instead of 4 is that I feel the food is priced a little too high for what you get.  It's decent bar food but it could either be priced down a little or the level of it needs to be ramped up some to match the pricing.

But otherwise, I think this is a nice place.

I'll still go here for the occasional splurge though and need to come back to check out the theatre they have.

I just moved to Burien 2 months ago and heard about Tin Room from some friends who live in West Seattle.  It was the first restaurant we tried after settling down.  We've been back 5 times since then.  Why?

First, my compliments to their bartender!  This place actually knows how to make a drink!  I'm very selective about ordering drinks at restaurants and especially margaritas, which are always very weak and full of mix.  The margaritas here are the best I've had - EVER (at a restaurant) - and that's after several visits.  (Caution: On the menu, the house margarita says it has 2 sugar cubes in it.  That sounds a bit weird to me, so I've just asked for no sugar cubes each time and they've been perfect.)  The other drinks on their drink menu are pretty creative and a good variety for what is a fairly short drink menu.

Good drinks will get me in there, but good food will keep me.  I haven't been too adventurous with the food myself usually just ordering the Greek salad, which is great though it's hard to mess up a salad.  However, each visit I ate off of other people's plates and enjoyed everything.  I've probably sampled half of their menu at this point, so I think I have a pretty good overview.  I'm not a calamari person, but my friend ordered it on my most recent visit and said it was really good - and she is a calamari person.

The service has been great each time.  It's very casual, which I enjoy and you know the waitstaff are real people.  You basically just walk right into the place, so it's a very comfortable atmosphere when combined with the casual service.

I'm timid about awarding 5 stars, but I can't think of any reason to give Tin Room less than that, so congratulations!

Yes, Burien DOES have a great local bar.  A friend and I went there recently on a gorgeous sunny day to have cocktails.  I travel to Mexico twice a year and I know my Margaritas.  Well, Tin Room has some KILLER 'ritas!  They were very strong and in fact, knocked me on my keister.  Drinks are not cheap, but you definitely get more than what you paid for!
There were kitchen type tables out in back and it was a great place to enjoy the sunshine AND some drinks.
We only ordered a couple appetizers so can't comment too much on the food.  What we did have (nachos and Tin Room fries) were good.
    Service was A-OK.
I would definitely return when I want to get alcohol bombed again.  :)

I love the Tin Room in Burien.  Friendly service, great food, awesome martinis.
Sat with the head chef at the bar awhile back.  Good people there, plus they have the Tin Theater right next door.
    Perfect date spot.

I like the Tin Room because of the strong feeling of community you get the second you walk in. Eating? Get the burger! The food is good, but pricey. Save your money for the cocktails! INCREDIBLE! Mike is my favorite bartender.
Don't miss the free wine tasting the first Thursday of every month.

Popped into the Tin Room after reading a lot of the rave reviews and finding the history of the place intriguing. My friends and I have been looking for an "our bar" for a couple of months now ever since we came home from finishing school. We decided to try out the Tin Room on a Tuesday night to celebrate the birth of my new baby niece across the country.

The place seemed like a comfortable, well-designed bar. We ordered some standard mixed drinks--my friend got a vodka tonic instead of the vodka cran that she ordered. Simple mistake, not really condemning. The drinks were a little weak considering the pricing. Still, we found a nice, small, metal table and enjoyed ourselves the whole time we were there. The small theater also looks interesting and might draw me in again. However, we all kind of agreed that this bar would be awesome if we were about ten years older. Everyone else there all looked to be at least thirty (or forty), and somewhat hipster artsy types.

Cool location, attractive gimmick, and unique decor all contribute to a positive experience at the Tin Room. Will definitely check out again on a busier night just to avoid giving a review based on only one visit, but it may be a while before I do.

One of the coolest and interesting bars/eateries in the 152nd Ave part of Burien.

Surrounded by interesting small business owned shops, bars, eateries, this little spot definitely has a great location.

Great spot in the summertime because there are small tables in front of the bar for eating and drinking!

Inside is quaint and small. Feels like a pub with a open friendly atmosphere.

Service is good. It can get quite busy on a weekday evening as well as a weekend evening.

My friends said their meatloaf dish is the best, and our waitress said this is the best menu item.  This dish was presented beautifully with a modern take on meatloaf - good size portion with wonderfully colored steamed veggies.

For my dish, I chose the appetizer cheese and chicken quesdilla.  It was nicely seasoned and of good quality.  The price was a bit high $8.95 for a appetizer.

A few selections of chicken and fish dishes as well as salad options for those who do not eat beef or pork.

I'm really amazed this place only has 3 1/2 stars total.

I've been several times, living a mere block away, and I've never been disappointed.  I've been when it's dead and when it's standing-room-only, and have never had any major complaints (yes, service can be a bit lacking under some circumstances, but not offensively so).

The scene isn't for everyone, as it is typically populated by white collar folk.  But the decor and wait staff are casual enough that anyone is accommodated.  The drinks are the dramatic highlight - best mojito I've had in the greater Seattle area.

The food is pretty rockin' too.  I haven't tried everything on the menu, but I was conflicted between three things last time I went.  The chicken sandwich I ultimately chose was sooooooo good, I've cooked large batches of caramelized onions to have on hand in an attempt to recreate it at home (to no avail, might I add).  But the cajun shrimp po' boy and the true cod sandwich were incredibly tempting.

To make my predicament worse, I watched the cajun shrimp po' boy walk by as I ate my lunch.  I didn't want it *more*, but I wanted it *as well*.  Problem is, even though the Tin Room is a mere block away, I'm currently home with my new baby and can't bring her in!  It's torture!  I'm painfully tempted to pull a babysitting card just to bring my husband in for lunch.  Yeah, that's how good the Tin Room is... I'll trade a Saturday night of babysitting for an hour during lunchtime.

I'd implore those who've had a bad time to give it another try.  And it's not trying too hard.  The Tin Room takes after ACTUAL Burien history (I walked by the Hi-line Tin Shop on my way to various places every day during my young life), not Fremont's often skin-deep hipsterism.  Yeah, I said it.

My first experience was watching Zombieland at the theater. Now, if you haven't seen Zombieland, Woody Harrelson's character is obsessed with finding Twinkies. So, to my wonderful surprise at the end of the movie, a staff member came around and passed out Twinkies! It was a simple gesture, but I was sold on this place!!

Just this last weekend a couple girlfriends decided on a quick dinner and a movie for a Friday night. We arrived a little before 6pm and it was hoppin'.  We were approached by several different staff and were quickly seated. We explained we wanted to eat, but also wanted to catch the 7:30pm show. Everyone was super helpful from the server explaining what menu items were quick, to the cook making our food fast, to the owner saving our seats in the theater. The food was good, the theater is cozy, and the service is excellent!

This place is pretty good, pretty much the best Burien has.

I went to the Tin Room on a Saturday evening for a work related soiree and was quite pleasantly surprised.  The pumpkin martini was excellent.  Tasted just like an alcoholic pumpkin pie (not too sweet, creamy, and well spiced).  There was a decent selection of veggie food and appetizers.  They did justice to the boca burger and the fish tacos in my party's order.  The cottage fries that came with the meal were perfectly done.

The service was slow but friendly.

I will be coming back :)

We had a chance for datenight in Burien and so I started to poke around for restaurants that seemed new and fun around the area.

Seeing Tres and Alisa's reviews, this place sounded pretty darn good, so we dropped off the little one and headed over.

I will say that if we had just had a drink, I would have definitely bumped this up a star; my cocktail was as promised, fresh juice, divinely made and a perfect suggestion from our excellent server.

When we first arrived, two servers walked right by us and the bartender tended to the back bar as we clearly stood confused in the entry area- did we seat ourselves? Who worked here, there was a woman perched at a table who didn't turn to us, and eventually, a man that must have worked there as he offered to seat us pointed us at a table, but no menus were given.  There was a rumpled bag of popcorn kernels next to my seat and the seats were wedged together rather close to our neighbors who were loud and drunk people of my parent's age, clearly regulars as he championed his full gin drink as 'they know ME here'!

However, on to the rest...the food was just okay, and food to price ratio just didn't work for me. Overall, the menu was a bit disjointed with entrees being 1/3 Mexican inspired choices and 1/3 'comfort food' and 1/3 pasta w/ dishes. The cod tacos - his choice- were alright but short on the Pico which was short on the onion and cilantro-and the cost did not line up with the quality.  I had the Chicken Picatta and while the sauce and pasta were really good, the chicken itself was tough and - perhaps they don't know about brining- but the price was right on for the dish overall.

As I mentioned, though, the server was a dream. She was professional, checked in with us often enough, asked about our meal and was really GREAT.

Still, the biggest issue for me was that while the decor is clearly trying really hard, at the end of the day, regardless of the clear desire for a group hallucination, we're in Burien.  And while that's a fine place to be, don't try and pretend it's Fremont, because it's just not.

Been to Tin Room twice now, both visits spent in the company of the same lovely friend.  I want so badly to like this place.  It's cute, it's fun, it's got an odd population that is predominantly just-off-work office professional men, something I won't scoff at, and it's all comfort food.  I just...can't.

There's nothing wrong with the food.  The first time out my friend and I shared the calimari.  It was good, if not unremarkable.  She had the burger, a huge hunk of ground beef formed into a slab and served up with tons of condiments and thick-cut homemade chips.  It got the stamp of approval.  I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes.  The gravy poured over everything was far too salty for my liking, but it wasn't awful.  Plus they have cute little bottles of Diet Coke that tickle my fancy.  (See?  I'm not so hard to please!)

The service was nothing special, but that's fine by me.  I don't go out to be fawned over, just served efficiently and in a timely manner.  This place was perfectly serviceable in this regards the first time around.

We were back about a week ago after being unable to figure anywhere else worth going in Burien.  This time I had the barbeque burger which was cooked as I'd ordered and my friend had the fried prawns.  The burger was good (not worth getting again), and my friend really liked her prawns.

This time around though, the service was abysmal.  The waitress barely came around, and when she did, it was like we were an inconvenience for being there.  (Yeah, sorry for that 25% tip we're about to leave you - hmph!)  She took our drink orders without waiting to find out if we were ready to order food (we were), and when the food came, we didn't see her again until my friend flagged her down for more tartar sauce.  She asked for water at the same time, and somehow that appeared at the same time as the check.  Yeah, that's handy timing, thanks!

Worse than the complete lack of attention from our server was the fact that they felt the need to stock the place at 6:30 on a busy Wednesday.  Seriously?  You want that scrawny girl walking through with buckets of bottled beer or armloads of bottled ketchup/mustard?  And then she gives the death glare to anyone who even twitches in what may be her direction?  Not cool, Tin Room.  Not cool.

Really, while I'm not really aware of what these places may be, there has to be better places to eat in Burien.  Save yourself the bother and go somewhere you can get service with a smile.  Or least competancy.

The Tin Room Bar is a great place to enjoy a meal with someone.  It has the cozy feel of a city restaurant without the city problems (parking, homeless panhandlers, etc.).
The food is tasty and well prepared.  The wait staff is friendly and real.  I'm not a drinker, but the bar looks like a good one.
    Enjoy!

I love the concept of this place. I'd read the reviews and we were so excited to try this lovely place in our backyard. The decor is fun and historic, the clientele friendly and bustling....Yet the service...oh my, not good. At first we were really perplexed, it defied all the reviews, were we there on an off night? Was it just super busy? Er, no. The woman who served us was supervising others so either she was an owner or hostess, not sure which.

The service was seriously delayed and when I say delayed I mean it took 20 minutes for her to even recognize us and it wasn't that busy. The food was on the cold side when we got it. The beer was good. And the food minus the temp was tasty, but sort of soured by the lack of attention and continual dismissive attitude we got. We were even dressed properly :(

I don't know that I'd try it again, it wasn't that great. I'd rather go across the street to the Mark Restaurant and Bar where it's consistent and friendly and prompt.

Holy sidecars and whiskey sours batman... this place is psychotically good! I hadn't been in over a year and was pretty surprised by the quality of the drinks. The whiskey sour was made after the traditional manner and therefore was trully sour without that nasty coma inducing sweetness catching on your tongue. The sidecar was trully awesome... the rim was completely over sugared but it hit the lips perfectly and was a lot of fun to indulge in.

The decor here is pretty cool, the building used to be an old tin shop (hence the name) and a lot of the original fixtures, pictures, tin pieces, and moldings are still in place. Some of the random ephemera have been skattered around the shop, nailed to tables and walls, old signs hung cattywompus on the walls, random papers burnt at the edges framed and hung over doorways.

Overall this place has turned into quite the hot spot and if you want to sit among some trully vintage decor and enjoy some potent drinks if your in the south end, this is the place to go.

Last night was our first visit to the Tin Room. It was hopping, and the atmosphere was friendly and very casual.

We had a cheeseburger and shrimp tacos, respectively. Both were excellent.

I thought their beer selection was a little light on draft, but their overall selection was good and they had a nice wine list too. Definitely someplace we'll be visiting again!

So I discovered this place almost a year ago when I was doing a tour of burien for a friends birthday.

My first time we just popped in because it was the burien street fair and we could get drinks and take them to the beer garden...so not much to comment other then the wine was good.

For my 2nd-4th times here it all has been in the last month...wow.

2nd time- I was not pleased to be going here since my boyfriend was suppose to be making me dinner. To top it all off he had already eaten.... So I had a glass of wine and the calamari. I was not impressed with it. It taste liked rubber. Then again I wasn't please to be here so I might be a little harsh. The only good thing that came out of this dinner was that the next morning I was single......

3rd time- Came here with a friend for drinks and dinner. We had a waitress that was in training and she was really overwhelmed. The food was alright. I had the bacon wrapped dates and a salad. Cant remember what my friend had but she liked it. Our service was slow and we had to ask for our bill. Oh and to top it all off she was cleaning up the table next to us and left used napkins on our table....ewww gross.

4th time- Came here last week for lunch. They have a small menu and the service was slow. I had the crab sandwich and it was yummy. My lunch mate had a salad which he really enjoyed. Coolness factor I order a coke and it came in a little glass bottle.

Other then the service this is a cool little place. I love the decor and how laid back it is. I am actually going back in a few weeks to celebrate a friend getting a new job position.

It's all of the other have said but all of the other reviewers have left out the "meat loaf". This is the best meat loaf I have ever had! Juicy and chared just enough to have a little crust with Steve's famous Bourbon gravy. Comfort food does not get better than this, great on a cold winter night with a martini of course. Kelly makes the best martini's and can give you great advice on wines. This is my stop every Sat. night.
    See you Saturday night Kelly.

I enjoy the Tin Room so much that the only negative I could possibly give it is that it's not next to my house, and my only regret is that I didn't review it sooner, as the previous glowing reviews effectively capture everything that I wanted to say about it.

It's worth restating, though: the food is better than one has any right to expect from a bar that isn't a restaurant attachment.  We've had several different meals here and are continually astounded by the quality.  The burger & fries are good, of course: I'm not sure any reviewer can honestly claim a bar has good food if their burger is subpar.  It's the non-bar fare here that really shines, though.  The steak is great, and I mean great: it's better than many I've had in restaurants where steak is the claim to fame.  The crab cakes (so my dining partner told me, not my thing) are well balanced, with the right amount and size chunks of crab meat, a good blend of fillers and excellent breading.

You know me- you know my love of Burien. Add in some dirty martinis and good people and I am in the best place ever.

The roomie and I headed over to the Tin Room after checking out the newly redecorated Bison Creek. We sat at the bar where Kelly was quick to serve us and I had no problem chatting up the locals. (My dad is kind of a big deal in these parts so I know several familiar faces!)

We checked out the menu and ordered some nachos- not very adventuresome- but we just needed a quick bite. The overall menu looked delicious and I picked out several dishes to try next time.

There were specials which looked very tasty- steak and bacon- how can you go wrong! I just really wanted to see a happy hour menu and prices!

When the Tin Room opened it's door a few years back I can't tell you how relived I was that there was a fun little, and I mean that literally... the place is tiny, cocktail bar in my neighborhood. The Tin Room has a cute history to offer with the new owner capturing the essence of business past in the current decor.
The food, while a limited menu, is refreshingly seasonal and interesting. Their bartenders really know what they are doing and don't look at you strangely when you ask for a cocktail that has more than three ingredients.
The only draw back I see with the Tin Room is the size. I have walked up and more than once walked right on by due to the standing room only view I saw through the window. But I suppose this could be a testament to how popular this Olde Burien gem really is.

It is a bit pretentious to give a bar five stars... but it isn't always about the food.... sometimes it just has to be about the ambience, the total gestalt....

This is a neighborhood joint in an area where they've really never had a neighborhood joint.  You walk in and if you live within a few miles, you are almost sure to meet or see someone you know.  And... if you don't, the wait staff will soon make you feel like a part of the family anyway.  Dan "The Sausage Man" (and owner) is often behind the bar and using his athletic skills (once a very good soccer player) to shake all of the hand made drinks.  The have a juicer and they know how to use it.  He is always very busy but keeps an eye out for all of the new and old customers and has a smile and friendly greeting for all of them.  Get the idea it isn't all about food?

But, the food is very good and they change the menu rather frequently as they really pay attention to what the customers want.  There is always a slate at the north end of the bar with the daily specials listed and we've never gone wrong with those as well, but we are also happy to work from the regular menu.  The have a great cheeseburger and their potatos are sliced little rounds that are fried brown and crispy.

It is the best of the places in Olde Burien... and will probably stay that way because they truly do pay attention to their business...

Oh.... Monday nights are half-price wine nights.  A great opportunity to drink a bottle of wine that you might shy away from because of the normal price.  Such a treat.

I could only like this place more if it were open for lunch.

This cozy, friendly, neighborhood restaurant/bar is a find in the trying-to-be-revitalized "olde Burien".  You feel like you belong and you are welcomed home at this converted Tin-Shop.

Beer is aplenty - lots on tap.  However, don't feel like you can't try the cocktails - top notch and very creative!

I had the flank steak sandwich - juicy, tender, full of flavor!  The lemonaid is just about perfect!
