Tom Wahl's is our family's favorite burger joint by far! Everyone in our family enjoys the burgers the most. Well, besides the homemade root beer! Most of us are omnivores and eat meat, and they all enjoy a burger with whatever various toppings they decide on. And then a couple others of us go for the veggie burger which comes on a wheat bun. This is BY FAR the best veggie burger I have ever had. It even stands alone without any extra toppings, which is a feat for most veggie burgers, but I like mine with the works (minus the meat sauce, of course).

Having said all that, it can get a little pricey ("pricey" for a cheaper burger joint where you eat off disposable stuff) if you take a big family there and DON'T use the coupons. But  just go to their website before you head out and print off B1-G1 Free coupons for the burgers, and that really helps. The things like the fries and drinks can get you price-wise, too. I don't care all that much for the fries for the price (they're just standard crinkle cut fries) but the rest of my family loves them. The drinks do have free refills. And yes, if you are at all a fan of root beer, you HAVE to try their homemade root beer. It reminds me sort of like a melted root beer float, for lack of a better explanation. YUM!

The diner motif is kind of novel, at least the first time you're there, and the staff has always been very friendly and efficient. The kids love the beeper/buzzer thing that goes off when your food's ready to be picked up at the counter. Oh and lastly, they have ABBOTT'S CUSTARD. Year round. This is another reason I skip the fries, so I can have room for the most delicious creamy custard ice cream (not ice milk like fast food places) around! Highly recommend Tom Wahl's!

    Great Classic American Burger!

I worked here for four years in high school and ate wayyyy too much of their food, thank goodness for a teenage metabolism and sports, otherwise I'd probably weigh an extra hundred pounds.  So good and now I stop by whenever I'm back in town.  I've made almost every food they serve and know what everything is made out of.  I've also tried everything there and it's a safe and good place to eat.

Their cheeseburgers are classics, they use a glass pie pan to flatten them to cook faster and keep them tasty.  Use the buy one, get one free coupons that are on their website or usually in the weekly area papers.  I was surprised to see they have a barcode scanner and looked up a coupon online, and they scanned it for half off.

Their Friday fish fries are the best in town also.  Highly recommend and they give you huge portions.

A little secret, they also have gravy for the fries if you're into that and I'd recommend it with cheese fries if you can afford the extra calories.

Lastly, great staff, big shout out to those I used to work with years ago and they're still friendly as ever and will help you have a great time and a great meal.

    Burger and rings.

In my recent sojourn to the Prophet's house in Palmyra, I happened upon this Gem of a "chain."  Next to the legendary Tim Horton's is the kitschy 50's-diner styled casual dining restaurant serving burgers and fries with an ice cream soda counter.  I'm sold.  It's time for expansion, folks. Go west, old man. (Tom Wahl retired long ago, so, corporate dudes, Go west.)

I had a bacon cheeseburger, my daughter had the vegetarian(TexturizedVegetableProtein) burger.  I walked mine through he toppings she chose to have hers plain.  I got a Tom Wahl's signature titty bun, she got a wheat bun.  We shared some onion rings.  For my tastes it was a truly enjoyable burger and rings.  Hot and unwieldy, just perfect for a light snow shower in the beautiful Newark.

    I will be back.
