Inside this place is nice, brick, high ceilings, reminds me (just slightly) of the old cheers bar. But I love patio seating, given a choice, I'll always sit outside and enjoy our Southern California weather while enjoying my burger and beer. The sidewalk patio could use a little sprucing up. It has a little grungy feeling to it. I recommend the burger. It's a good basic burger. The best way to eat it though, is directly across the street at the Stone Brewery where the atmosphere is amazing and the beer selection is great. You can go to Stone, call Tremont and they will deliver across the street to you. Stone does not serve food but they are more than happy for you to bring in your own or have it delivered. I love that!!

I started coming here when I found out that the patio was pet friendly. That is an A+. I also have voted the chicken wings the best I have ever had (from a bar).

I even get the chicken wings to go when I'm in the area, because they are so good.

Always had a good time! I only take away the 5th star just because its little on the pricey side. Then again its blocks from the beach that is to be expected I suppose.

Servers have always been great. If you have an issue, just tell them and they will get on it.

Any place that has a draft beer selection of Sculpin, Stone IPA and Torpedo is ok in my book. 3 of 6 draft beers are IPA's, I'm in heaven.

It was late on a Friday night when I ate here... as a last resort because other places were shutting down. I have to agree with the comment that you should "eat burger only when drunk." The karaoke was very loud and very awful, which is what it's supposed to be, right? Sorry Tremont Street Bar & Grill. On the plus side, the server was friendly and the karaoke DJ, or whatever, saved my ears occasionally with her nice voice.

I actually live on Tremont St. and really want to support this business, but I simply cannot for the following reasons:
* The beer selection is pathetic. I mean this is San Diego after all, and the natives have more evolved tastes than what this place provides.
* I've had better burgers at a Denny's, and better salads at a Carl's Jr. for less than half the cost.
* My friends and I cannot go here without being sexually harassed by drunken marines.
* The karaoke singers are straight up scary...and not funny scary, the like "love me or I'll slit your throat" scary.
However, the service was great and I have to give it up for the super cute patio area that allows dogs. I really hope they can find a way to improve the food and libations. After all, they are my neighbors.

Memo: eat burger only when drunk.
Tasteless frozen patty, warm to cold fries, core in the tomatoes. Undercooked bacon. Bun cracking n falling apart.
The waitress,Stacy, a doll. Apologetic. That's cool but I'm leaving very unsatisfied.
They DID take the meal off my bill but that was not the point, if I go to a place is because I can afford it.

I found Tremont café about 6 months ago and I make sure to stop in at least once a week ! On top of the wonderful food, Tremont has a wonderful staff ! The ladies are lovely and provide top notch service. Most of the time I find myself ordering one of their wonderful salads, other times you can find me eating one of there amazing burgers or sandwiches ! I often refer my friends to stop by for a drink or dinner ! 5 stars for Tremont café ! Great all around !!

This place has a nice environment, but if you are a person who wants service right away; better go some place else. I've been here twice probably won't come again they are always understaffed and slow.

This place is terrible. I was gonna give it one star but the fact that it has an outdoor patio that you can take your dogs on bumps it up and the food is decent. The service is horrible every time i go. Ive had to wait for someone to even greet us let alone get us drinks when there is maybe ten customers. The bartenders are too busy talking to their regulars or doing some menial task like changing the channel to another game. Not that theyre not friiendly but could def work on their multi tasking skills. They have messed up on our food orders and drink orders. Ive had to even take my empty drink and shot glasses to the bar to get another round. I want to like this place because its in an awesome location thats dog friendly but am more than disappointed with the service time after time.

I really wanted to like this place. I got a http://restaurant.com coupon awhile ago and wanted to check it out. I have seen this place quite a few times while going to sunset market on thursdays. We went in for lunch today and sat down. There was one other group in the place. The only one serving food in the place was the owner, so it took like 20 minutes to get a menu. We ordered the nachos for an appetizer and then waited another 15 minutes before she came back to take our food order. I got the lunch special tri tip sandwich and clam chowder, my husband ordered the blue cheese burger and garlic fries. The nachos were awesome! Huge portion with freshly fried chips and tri tip cut up on top. But, my husband couldn't get a refill on his drink to save his life. When our lunch came out, it was very good and fresh. The garlic fries were very garlicky and wonderful. The problem I have with the place is the owner herself. Service was slow, she wasn't very friendly, but the real problem was when the check came. I gave her my http://restaurant.com coupon and she acted like it was such a burden. She got all huffy and said that she had to rework the whole check and that she hated these coupons and couldn't wait until the promotion was over. I don't appreciate her acting like that over the coupon. She should be happy she got my business at all, not huffy because she only got $25 from me instead of $45. It is disappointing because we really enjoyed the food, everything was good, freshly cooked, and well seasoned. But we will not be going back.

I can never figure out why this bar always feels empty. When Haunted Head is 4 rows thick to the bar, this place has seating available. The bartender seems friendly enough. The crowd is pretty much what you would expect from Oceanside.

It's a very clean place, the service could be better. The two times I've been in it has been slow but the waitresses always seem overwhelmed. Beer is cold. food is pretty good. The calamari they have there is fantastic!!! I will go back and eat there anytime, but I know not to expect great service.

This place had great service, but the food was nothing special. It was not bad, but I have had better. Their appetizer sampler was nothing special, just a few onion rings, 1/2 of a cheese quesadilla, some chicken wings, and potato skins (my fave of the 4). If you have to try anything here, it would have to be their garlic fries, they are pretty awesome! But other than that the french dip was pretty mediocre... And when we were in here there was a really drunk guy trying to steal drinks, he even walked out and didn't pay... I was surprised they even let him in with how drunk he was!

The great part is that their enclosed patio is dog friendly, and they even have dog bowls waiting just in case =]

Great service, great attmosphere, okay food.

Womans Perspective: I actually give this place 4 stars for their food but the service & fly problem knocked it down 1 notch. Its in a nice convenient location in the middle of downtown Oceanside but a few blocks away from all the tourist spots so it wasn't over crowded. It's very clean & the atmosphere was refreshing for such a nice hot day. I was extremely exhausted from a long week so even though it was hot out, I wanted a coffee before my food came. The coffee was very old & luke warm, the server said she would make me a fresh pot of coffee so while I was waiting for that we ordered our food. I had the Caesar Chicken Salad wrap with Garlic fries! This meal was VERY good! The garlic fries were the best fries I've ever had & I was very satisfied with the food. Finally my new cup of fresh coffee arrives and I go to pour the cream into the coffee and I can see that the cup that the creamer was in was dirty as if the waitress poured cream into a dirty cup. It had black marks in the cup as if someone had been using it for a pen holder. I took the cup to our server and showed her and she told me that the cup was not dirty. I showed her that the black marks were moving when I touched them with my nail and there were a lot of them and whether it was clean or not, this black stuff was not something I wanted to ingest along with my coffee. She asked me if I wanted a new one but my food had already came & I had wanted to enjoy this cup of coffee while I was waiting for my food so I just said forget it. Our server seemed irritated that I no longer wanted the coffee but if she would have been a little more observant, I wouldn't have had a problem, I think she could have been a little nicer. They also had a major fly problem. I kept having flies land on my food, hands and head and when I looked over at the window there were about 20 flies chillen on the window seal. Maybe a simple fly strip would help clean that up. I might visit this place again for their amazing garlic fries but I wouldn't make this place one of my favorites.

Mans Perspective: 4.5 Stars, nice location and some good food. Definitely worth going again.

Love Tremont! Oceanside bars SUCK. I like Tremont because the staff is amazing and remember you every time. It's not a typical Oceanside bar filled with hammered marines and drunk chicks (Cabo..?)
I'm all about hanging out and drinking beer in a casual environment.

I do have to say ONE negative.. The owner is a real B word! But the staff are awesome.

Found this place on accident while we were looking for a sports bar to watch the game. From the outside it looks like a small bar but the food was amazing!! The happy hour special at the bar was 2-for-1 and the drinks were great. We had fried zucchini and the tacos for Taco Tuesday. The service was great and the ambiance was spectacular. Would definitely go back.

3 stars for now, but I reserve the right to update my review!

I came here last Saturday with some family and friends for my birthday to have a few drinks. They do have a yelp check-in offer for $2 off your first drink SCORE and my skinny margarita was very tasty. We had a couple rounds of drinks, enjoyed the karaoke singers (some more than others lol) and had a slice of cheesecake. The bill came for $61, and we threw in $50 cash and asked for the rest to be put on my card. I wrote this down on the bill as well to try and make it easier for our server. Unfortunately, it wasn't clear because after coming back to the table 3x to clarify what we wanted, she brought us the bill and she had taken the cash, charged my card for $51 then credited it back, then charged my card for $16.

Now, she did apologize for her mistake and obviously felt bad about it, but these mistakes take days or even weeks to clear up as the "hold" on the funds is kept there usually 3-5 business days until the vendor clears it with the bank to release. So my birthday week I am out $51 which is frustrating...

I called the location today and spoke with Kim who is the owner, and she was DELIGHTFUL. She heard me out, apologized for the inconvenience, and offered a reasonable compensation for the mistake that I'm happy with. I'll be heading back to give them another try soon! :)

I came here with some co-workers for "power hour" which then rolled into happy hour. The atmosphere is nice enough... it's pretty clean and well kept. The staff is all very friendly. We got the appetizer sampler... it was very average. It all tasted re-heated. Drinks were decent enough... they have a decent selection. My biggest complaint is with the price... it just isn't worth it in my opinion. I've been to 333 for happy hour (just down the road a bit) which is much nicer (truly a different league) with more options and better drinks, and spent less money. I suspect this may have had something to do with why this place was so empty on a Friday afternoon (4-5:30pm). It concerns me a bit... I'd hate to see this place go away just because they priced themselves too high compared to the competition.

Places like this give dive bars hope for the future. Terrible food - avoid the chips & salsa, onion rings, and burgers. The fish BLT was passable as food. The IPA beer on draft was great. Of course, how hard is it to mess up a keg of beer? The servers were very nice and I wish I could rate them separately. Keep on walking; there are much better places in Oceanside.

The atmosphere fools you into thinking it may have decent food. I ordered a hamburger and fries. The hamburger was extremely greasy and flavorless! My bun was soaked with grease. Something about the hamburger did not taste right. The garlic fries were OK. As an appetizer I ordered the deep fried pickles, which i enjoyed. My friend ordered the fish and chips. He took one bite and said it tasted like frozen breaded fish, with an extra dip of batter on top. Neither one of us could go any further with our meal. When we left, our table was still full of food. We did get buy one get one drinks. I had a margarita which was so-so. I couldn't even finish the second one.

The staff was extremely friendly but not worth the experience. I will not go back.

Just changed the chain out on my motorcycle and needed a place to ride to... I stuck around to watch the Jets vs. Cowboys play this past Sunday, so I felt like I got a decent feel for the place.

The service was a bit slow (it wasn't busy, but despite the fact I'd been sitting there for a good 5-10 minutes, it felt like forever to get a menu... I had to eye a waitress about two or three times walking past me before she actually said "Would you like a menu?"). Automatic minus 1 star. Unless I'm at the bar, it's kinda expected I'm going to need a menu, and ASAP. They weren't packed and had two waitresses, so I feel justified in dropping from 5 to 4.

The food was good; I grabbed a grilled chicken sandwich and garlic fries... it was decent, and fit the place. The one large lettuce leaf was a nice touch and added a good crunch. This place needs BBQ sauce... they handed me a tray with Mustard, A1, and vinegar. I need ketchup or something similar for my fries. I tried A1, but meh. A1 is best for steak. I don't know if it was worth $10 altogether, but with the 25% yelp coupon, $7.50 was definitely appropriate for the sandwich.

The decor was Del Mar-ish (like everyone's mentioned, pictures of horses everywhere, as well as a bronze wall-mounted head on display). The bar looked full with alcohol and the guys, with the jarhead buzz cuts, were well mannered while watching the game.

Though the place says "bring your family," and does allow kids (I saw one guy bring his little boy, and another family bring their baby complete with stroller), I don't sense the family oriented atmosphere. Trentmont is a bar before anything else. But bring the kids if you must... the ones I encountered were cute and didn't raise a stink, so that's cool.

Awesome, noteworthy items:

- You will not have to look very far for a TV. They've got 10 (ten) of those suckers in view, and the volume is up loud so you can truly enjoy the game.
- Trentmont does have Wi-Fi... though I'd feel a bit nerdy to bring in a computer.
- The patio is pup friendly! I saw a pooch sprawl out on the cool curb and enjoy himself alongside his master. As long as your four legged friend is mild mannered, bring him/her in!
- Throughout the football season (yes, they have DirecTV), they're offering raffle tickets to those who stay and watch a full game... they hand them out towards the end of the 4th quarter. Prize: Flatscreen (I think it's 37", but who cares, it's a shot a freebie for enjoying the game and getting your grub on -- good marketing on their end).

Long story short, I may become a regular as long as they give me ketchup. Sounds like nothing, but it's important, lol. I NEED TO DIP PEOPLE!

I'm glad I gave this place a second chance before I reviewed.

The "Don't Tread On Me" decor tells me that that an ex-marine owns the place. Walls are brick and decorated with Del Mar Racetrack & jockey stuff, and sports memorabilia. Large Christmas lights zig-zag above, creating a sports bar/pub ambiance. I would not call this a "dive bar" as someone mentioned (See Kent B's review for that definition!). Dog friendly and has heaters on the patio. HAPPY HOUR = 4-5

EXPERIENCE #1 - Friday Night = Karaoke Night here. Came here for dinner (check in for 25% off of one menu item) I ordered the California Chicken Sandwich, let our server know that I couldn't have any dairy or egg (allergy), the sandwich was served with no cheese, covered in mayo....someone needs to let her know that there is egg in mayonnaise, or train employees how to put in a ticket to the kitchen as to not make your patrons feel yucky.

EXPERIENCE #2: Came here for dinner another night, THIS TIME I [took Benadryl first] ordered the fish & chips - home run! Super yummy, great batter...here's a tip - ORDER THE GARLIC FRIES! Well, order the garlic fries if your really, really comfortable with whoever you're with because I couldn't get the taste of garlic out of my mouth forever. I love garlic though, so I'm cool with it. Had a great server, don't know her name, blonde curly hair - Thank you!

As I'm writing this review I see Brian A. dubbed this a "dive bar". Dude, I would totally have to disagree.

Dive Bar definition:
This place is going to be stinky (the smell of stale beer and cigarette smoke will smack you in the face and steal your wallet upon entering). You don't come here for the drinks, you come here to eliminate sobriety! All of the regulars there have a smoker's voice and a hard look to them. If you try to go there dressed nicely, you will get stared at, singled out and possibly harmed. Wear shoes that you wouldn't mind squashing some roaches. Just assume after a long day-evening at a dive bar the following day you would immediately light that entire outfit on fire. Yes, giving it a proper Viking funeral.

First off, It's clean!? Clean is a dive bar's mortal enemy!! I also felt the brick interior that was decorated with racetrack memorabilia looked a tad corporate. I'm CERTAIN they actually measured PRIOR to hanging the pictures. No dive bar worth it's salt would measure squat! Hell, most dive bar decorations are dripping or involve writing on a dollar bill and nailing it to a wall!

I guess the one dive bar qualification it meets is locals seek this place out. If I had to guess, the many fans of karaoke come here to sing to their adoring...fan? Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now.

GF ordered the chicken club and I got the bacon western burger. The burger was really good! Actually, this was a big, tasty burger!! The onion rings were crunchy and big. Yes, I was a happy freaking camper. My GF who has a dairy/egg allergy spoke with the waitress and clearly wanted anything dairy/egg OFF her order yet the bread was smothered in some mayo sauce. I felt bad. No big deal, she scraped it and reported the sandwich was good.

YELPER ALERT: When you check-in here they are offering 25% off any one food item (one coupon per table...yeah us cheap bastards had to ask). I was stoked on this place. Great value and great food. They also have those games where you get that computer thingamajig you can request. You know, that trivia game where the sooner you answer the more points you get. Other notes worth mentioning...free wifi for the fantasy football dorks, outside tables and it's walking distance to other bars.

Did anyone say bar crawl?

I give this sports bar 7.5 "Non-dive bar dive bar" out of 10

Nice and open atmosphere with the sky lights and windows with a decent selection of beer. The whole thing just felt a bit generic though and with the Thursday night street fair going on outside the prices for bar food were definitely out of the question.

This place is nicely decorated and has a nice amount of space. I came here with a couple of friends to drink and watch the baseball game on Saturday night. There was karaoke going on (apparently it happens on Wednesdays too) and a lot of the crowd was participating, so if that is your thing, consider this place. Also, there are interactive quiz games going on too.

We did not eat, but the food that was coming out to other tables looked and smelled good. Typically bar fare of burgers, potato skins and other fried fare.

The bartenders are cute girls, which gets every young Marine from middle America going.

If you are in the Tremont Street area, this place will do you right!

I didn't order food here but I saw huge burgers and smelled onion rings that made my mouth water. Saturday nights there is karaoke from 7-11 hosted by a karaoke dee jay with decent singing abilities. The atmosphere is pleasant with a mix of both civilians as well as groups of young, testosterone-fueled marines, both groups consisting of 8s or better on the hot guy scale. I had to dock a star, though, as beers are a little pricey here. We got one premium pitcher and one bottle of Bud Light and our tab came to $19. Bah!

I went here based on its location and great reviews from yelp and was bitterly disappointed. I ordered lunch here with a friend. I got the tri-tip sandwich with onion rings, she got the bacon burger with garlic fries, and we each got a pint.

The tri-tip sandwich was a joke, it was a fake Philly cheese-steak sandwich with mayo, lettuce, and tomato. Great if its REAL tri-tip, no so great when its the same meat used in a philly, but with no cheese. The meat was bland as was the au jus sauce that came with it. They couldn't make up their minds if it was a tri-tip, french dip, or Philly cheese-steak, either way it failed all three. The beer battered onion rings were first battered and then dipped in crumbs, so that all you could taste was the breading...another disappointment.

Her burger was extremely bland even with the cheese and bacon on it, and the french fries tasted like nothing but garlic. Now, I know that garlic fries are supposed to taste like garlic, but when they have so much garlic oil on them it burns and you can't taste the potato or the Parmesan cheese they are coated in there is an issue. Garlic fries are a combination of food where each flavor adds to the next, to make a perfect trifecta of potato, cheese, and garlic. It failed utterly here.

Overall I give this place one star since the food was so bland and disappointing on all aspects. As far a the bar goes, it was by far the cleanest sports bar or bar period I have ever seen in Oceanside. Good place to go for a beer and watch a game, but would definitely pass on the food.

We just got back from Tremont St! We were meeting a friend in Oceanside. We had been searching for a place that had a full bar (who would figure that a full bar would be so hard to find). We finally found this place by the grace of God. We had a great time. Basically two girls ran the whole place. Each girl was the bartender/hostess. Our superwomen, Heather, was extremely cool. We keep throwing drink orders at Heather that most people would not know how to make. She did not once get irritated, or offended. In fact, we would pull out the Iphone, and show her the breakdown. She would look at it, and bam a perfect drink would come out. Heather was extremely helpful, and made sure we always had a drink in our hand (I am sure the owner would appreciate this). I was extremely impressed when she became swamped and forget to put one of our orders in. Instead of lying about it, and saying she would check on it; she simply told us the truth, and put the next round on the house. Huge Browne points Heather. The overall bar had a nice feel about it. The bar seemed newer, but the people were a bit older. My buddy was happy with the beer selection they had here. The food was pretty darn good for a bar and grill.

Location- Right next to beach with plenty of parking. Inside of the grill was newer and clean.

Food- The food was really good for a bar and grill.

Overall I would recommend this place for a easy going night out.

To our bartender Heather you were great!

Nice place that's in the middle of the farmer's part of the Sunset Market on Thursdays. We sat outside in a fenced off sidewalk area that serves as a patio because it was fairly crowded on the tables and we weren't up for sitting on stools. But even from there, the TV viewing for sports was good as they had flat screen tvs inside that were in clear view of those on the outside.

We started off with their Fiesta Nachos with had the tri tip meat, cheese, jalepeno, guacaomole, sour cream, etc on multi colored chips and moved on to fish & chips for my wife (this is the reason we came), a tropical burger for me and sliders for our niece. The nachos were messy and good tasting. My burger was fairly plain to the taste, and was in need of seasoning, given that the pineapple & bacon seemed to be there for texture only. The fish were solid chunks of meat with just the right amount of batter (hate when you get a big strip and it's mainly batter) and worth the stop in.

Service was slow with 2 waitresses even though the place was about half full, but they were friendly enough.

I went to this bar once. It was great. My mom was in town, and we came here so that she could meet all of my friends. They were all hammered. They all hit on her. And one tried to kiss her.

But I digress. Bartenders are awesome and the drinks are good. It's not super packed, and there's a nice setup if you want to, say, drop in here with 20 friends and kick it and get drunk all night.

Also the lighting was good.

Apparently, Tremont Street Bar & Grill has been open for about five years!

This is a great place to stop for a drink and some decent bar food if you're in west Oceanside and you'd like to chill for a little while without having your purse or wallet jacked by one of the local homies. That's more more than I can say for most places in those parts.

Stopped in for lunch and everyone enjoyed their meals. We had wings, calamari, garlic fires which were outstanding a bacon cheeseburger, tuna wraps and home made soup.

It was all good. Better than average bar food.

What made the meal was our server. She was very good, nice and friendly and a wealth of information on the area. This proved helpful, for this was the first time we visited Oceanside.

A friendly staff and great patrons make Tremont a great place to grab some good grub while watching your favorite game. Plenty of TV's all over the place that broadcast nearly all of the sports packages ...

Tremont has a simple menu, but the food is great - I've tried nearly everything on it and have yet to be disappointed - The skewers are my favorite! Plenty of beer on tap to postpone your hangover from the night before or keep you there for hours while you socialize with the friendly staff and cool patrons ...
