Went for brunch this morning. Â Was excited to try it based on friend's recommendations and the menu posted on their website for brunch. Â It is not a buffet so when we got there we looked at the menu and realized it had been way simplified from what was on the website menu and more expensive. Â Beware if you want duck confit hash or an exciting seafood medley eggs Benedict, they do not offer that. Â Based on the fact that we were the ONLY TABLE in this huge beautiful restaurant it seems like their brunches are not successful anymore and therefore they are offering less and less. Â I had my heart set on the seafood Benedict but I settled for the regular one with bacon. Â They gave us a choice of prosciutto, regular bacon, or Canadian bacon. Â My boyfriend loves Canadian bacon so he ordered that. Â I ordered regular bacon but neither of us got what we wanted. Â They gave me prosciutto and said they were out of Canadian bacon. Â Again, seems like they don't prepare for brunch anymore. Â When our food came out our eggs were very underdone. Now, I love my eggs runny but these were almost raw and for my boyfriend who likes them over medium, he was a bit grossed out. The potatoes were only luke warm and the bacon was greasy. I was a server in a nice restaurant for the last ten years so I generally give the benefit of the doubt. Â It seemed like they through our dishes together and that they sat under the heat lamp for a while before they made it out to our table. Â Honestly, for $16 a plate for breakfast I expected a little more. Â Especially being the only table there. While we were eating we saw the cooks outside of the kitchen chatting with the wait staff. Â Very unprofessional considering the effort that was put into the food. Â Also, a lot of the dishware that we received at our table was chipped which was surprising for such a fancy looking place. The bottomless mimosas were very good since they have fresh squeezed juice but $15 seems a little high compared to most places. This place has pretty good reviews so maybe we will have better luck if we try them for dinner sometime. Â We just moved in across the street and were really hoping this would be one of our local places. Â Oh well.

I tried to email this to the two addresses on your website, but they both failed.
This review is negative due to the wine experience and the service, not the food.
--------------------------------------------------Â--------------------------------
My wife and I have dined at you restaurant several times, for both dinner and brunch. Â We have always enjoyed the food and the restaurant.
I have continually had issue with the wine machine.  I do not like the self service wine machine.  I enjoy the wine, but the machine does not meet my expectations.  Last night I was trying to get a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon to enjoy before my dinner.  I got a wine card and tried to get one of the three  Cabs that looked good to me.  I ended up only getting a tasting (1.5 ounce?) from the first one, and the other one was out.  I finished my taste and liked it, so went back for full glass.  2 of the cabs were empty and there was no sign of it getting refilled, even though I asked.  I settled for the third Cab, and to my frustration, there was only a 1.5 ounce taste left in that one.  At the time, there were at least 4 empty bottles of red wine.  It took at least 15 minutes, and we were already past the first course before I had my wine.  This was very frustrating to me and took away a lot from my enjoyment of the meal.
I would also like to say the waiter was very inattentive, and was always missing. Â The two busboys were far more attentive, and asked us if we needed anything. Â The serving and ordering was poorly timed. Â He also took the wine list almost as fast as he left it say he would bring it back in a few minutes. Â I guess this left out the option of me ordering a bottle, instead of waiting for the empty bottles to be refilled in the machine.
I enjoy your restaurant, and would like to continue giving you my business, but not if the experience is like last night. Â Dining there is not an inexpensive outing, and I expect more.
I would appreciate you thoughts concerning my experience.
My wife and I first went to Two 40 South with another couple in June and had a good time. Â Part of the experience was due to the unique wine bar. Â The only complaint I had was that they made my Negroni (I know, this is a WINE bar) with Aperol, which didn't work. Â The second time we had dinner at Two 40 the service was not as good as the first time, but the dinner was fine. Â We had dinner again two weeks ago, but the service was terrible and the dinner was barely adequate. Â There were only about 10 or 12 patrons in the restaurant, so I didn't know why the service was so poor. I like to have a cocktail before dinner and when I asked if the bartender used Grand Marnier in their Cadillac margaritas, I was told yes. Â When I got the bill Two 40 South had charged me a separate $10 for the Grand Marnier. Â Two 40 South started off with a bang, but we won't be going back.
Review Source:New Owners .....New changes ....more staff and management then customers even with 50% off Wine night ...Food just OK
Wine cards from prior owner  with a balance reflect "expired" when attempting to use...
Have been a big supporter of Two 40 South from the day it opened ....Sorry to say based on this visit no plans to return
Many other choices in Downtown Brea ..Cha Cha's ..Bruno's etc...
Excellent service, classy wines/ tastings. Pricey so it's better to dress up than go in your scrubs for dinner. You can eat alone here and not feel awkward. Muted lighting, so you can gaze at your partner's details and admire the deep reds & legs of the wines. Parking in back is crowded and there's a patio with a fireplace/ couches that always seems lively with older business casual/ resort wear type clothes. If I was an older wart hog, I'd be here more often.
Review Source:This is one of the places that I WANT to like so very badly. Â It is BY FAR the most beautiful restaurant in all of Brea. Â If this was a design rating it would be an outstanding 5, from the copper accented pots overhanging the kitchen to the curtained-off booths and private barrel room the place is just brimming with personality...
But...it just goes downhill from there. Â
I've been here three times now and every time my intense wish is that the food will have improved or that the service will have been better or that, I don't know, that the Yelp gods will have gotten through to these owners, but that just doesn't seem to be the case. Â
The food is OK. Â That's it. Â OK. Â Nothing jumps up and grabs you with flavor, but it also doesn't completely disappoint. Â
What was absolutely scary was a recent visit where their temporary "Wines by the Glass" list at the bar looked like a textbook example of how you should be using your spell check...especially when you purport to be a winecentric restaurant. Â Here is a short list of only SOME of the glaring mistakes on the list: Â
The Brocard Grand Cru Chablis was listed as a Chambis...I don't know what a Chambis is but that one should have been pretty obvious. Â
The Barbeito Madeira Baul. Â It's Bual, or Boal, but never Baul. Â Is that sort of like Paul? Â Come on guys, try a little. Â
They spelled Willamette...Williamette...okay now we're entering normal Google search territory. Â
The Donati Claret Pacinas CA...should've read Paicines CA. Â
And finally there was the Hearst Three Sisters Curvee. Â Are the sisters Curvee or did you mean to say Cuvee? Â
Do you want to be a wine bar? Â Then have respect for your craft. Â This was pitiful. Â
3 stars ENTIRELY for the decor.
Very nice place! Â I came here on a Friday afternoon probably around 4pm. Â Happy hour prices were very nice. Â The place was empty there were only about 3 other couples there. Â
The A/C happen to be out that afternoon and the temperature outside was well over 90 degrees so it was way to hot to enjoy the place either inside or out! Â The waiters/bar staff were very friendly, house wine was tasty but the best part was the serve yourself wine bar. Â Nice way to taste different wines without having to buy the whole bottle or even the whole glass! Â There are cabanas around the bar the sit up to about 6 people comfortably. Â
We got to tour the barrel room and let me tell you it was quite impressive for a small wine bar. Â
Didn't try anything to eat, although the menu was very inviting the heat inside the place was too much to handle.
I will go back for sure to try the food and more wine! Â
Atmosphere was nice..quiet place but great for dates and relaxed happy hour!
Been here before but this was my first time in the bar area.  We had the sliders (you get 2), the charcuterie combo (3 meats and 3 cheeses) and meatballs. Truthfully, I was a little let down by the sliders. I expected 4 to arrive but decided not  to let it ruin my dinner. The sliders were by far the tastiest plate of the night. The charcuterie was plated nicely but our waiter didn't tell us what cheeses we were getting. I know we had brie and procuitto, salame, and jamon.  Overall, if you want to replicate this, you can just go to trader joe's and get their deli meat combo and pick up a few gourmet cheeses - easy peasy.
Both the waiter and the owner HIGHLY recommended the meatballs. Here's what I mean: When the owner found out we hadn't ordered them yet, he said "you're missing out." The waiter said they're known for the meatballs. Â We gave them a try. Pretty disappointing. The hubs and I both decided they were too salty. Â I tried a meatball with very little sauce and the meat was already over salted. Â I tried the sauce by itself and that was salty too. Their satly powers, combined, were too much for me to handle. I ended up eating 1.5 and my poor husband ate the rest. Â He got heartburn the next day. The meatballs come with a few slices of basically cheese pizza and guess what? freaking salty. Sorry guys but this will be my last time eating here.
The Ahi Tuna Salad was as beautiful as it was tasty. Â I loved the different textures with the fresh salad leaves, crunchy light tortilla chips and soft avocados and sweet, smooth-textured ahi tuna sashimi.
Best Bass dish that my husband and I ever tasted! Â Perfectly cooked, crunchy bass skin on one side and moist flesh on the other side swimming in a thick broth of tomato, manila clams, and chorizo. Â I cleaned up the delicious broth with my dinner bread. Â The bread itself could have been better (didn't seem super fresh).
High quality, non-fatty rib-eye steak with trois vin demi glaze cream sauce also tasted wonderful.
My husband LOVED the self-serve wine sampler bar where you can use a card to buy different sized tastings by the glass of 15 different wines, including one that is a $95 for a 1.5ounce glass ($5000 bottle) red wine from Abraham Lincoln's era.
My only complaints were that the portion sizes were on the small side for the price and that the bread could have been fresher.
I heard from the waiter that the shrimp has an AMAZING Beurre Blanc sauce that I will have to try on my next visit.
Came here and left satisfied! Three course meal and great wine selections! The food is absolutely amazing and very tasty. Can't go wrong with any of the meals they have there. And the staff have all tried the food so they are very knowledgeable about all the meals. Great ambiance, especially if you are out on a date and want a nice quiet evening.
Review Source:Came for the first time for dinner on Mother's Day with a party of nine. We sat on the patio, which was a bit hot but that was the weather's fault, not the restaurant's! The waitress was really nice, but I get the impression that they were short staffed because no one ever came by to check on waters or drinks. We went quite a while with no water, and when we ordered bottled water it had to sit and chill in an ice bucket before we could drink it.
The food was DELICIOUS. We had the meatballs, ahi poke, and shrimp appetizers. I split the beat salad and black cod for dinner. I tried someone's pizza - SO good!
The problem arose with the black cod. I love spicy food, and the cod had a ton of heat, in addition to slices of jalapenos. Â No complaints here. However, I split the dish with my mom, who is extremely sensitive to heat and was immediately sick from the meal. She was upset that the waitress didn't inform her when she talked about the special, and I agree that she really should have. However, the waitress was apologetic, and brought out the manager who also apologized. I just feel bad that my mom's mother's day meal out was ruined :(
This is a 5 star place for wine lovers as the owners are extremely passionate about fine wines. Â They use argon to prevent oxidation for the wines offered in their serve yourself wine bar. Â They offer some once in a lifetime tastes with some high end wines and a port that I would love to try someday. Â Think liquid gold for one of their maderas at $95 for a 1.5 ounce tasting. I offered one of the owners a taste of a 2003 Heidi Barrett wine I brought down for dinner and he just loved having some. Â It was like a drug high for him, not that I would know what a drug high looks like.
The food was very good too. Â The lamb was excellent and the sides were okay. Â I loved the offering of sherry you can add to the French onion soup and that was great. Â Can't give this place 5 stars yet as the food was not 5 star worth but the wine experience is 5 stars.
GREAT service!!
The choices of wine was amazing! Â I don't drink wine that often though so I'm not sure how a wine connoisseur would rate this place. Â For a normal girl though, it was definitely a fun experience! Â
The food was AMAZING. Â My sister had told me about this place and raved about how good the shrimp appetizer was so I came in with pretty high expectations (I usually try not to because restaurants rarely meet them..) but I was definitely happy still. Â
Shrimp isn't my biggest thing but I was able to finish my own plate instead of sharing one so if you like shrimp, get it! :)
My friend got the lamb entree and that was DELICIOUS. Â everything on the plate was delicious. Â Many restaurants will plate well but with things that don't really go well with the dish. Â This was definitely not the case. Â Everything, even down to the tiny bit of green glaze went amazingly well with the lamb. Â I'm pretty afraid of eating lamb because of how gamy it can get, but this was soooo good!
Lastly, the salad I got was AMAZING. Â It was a little on the oilier side (bacon grease) but it was well worth the calories! Â Even the CROUTONS tasted home-made! Â :)
The ambiance of the place is definitely dressy and would be a great place to impress someone for a date without shelling out hundreds! :)
This is my second reviews for the place - this time for the brunch, as it was our first brunch experience there. Â Since my first review of this place, we have frequent the place for dinners as we love the food; and we have started to love the idea of the wine machine - as I don't drink much, the machine has different serving sizes that suits me well.
For the brunch, I had:
- Texas French Toast. Â It was perfectly cooked, the edge had nice crunch, and soft inside. Â It had nice balance of cinnamon and sweetness to it. Â It came with caramelized Bourbon bananas, pecans, raspberry butter, whipped Mascarpone and maple syrup. Â It served with garlic dill potatoes, and choice of sausages, bacon, or candied bacon. Â I picked the sausages.
Between the toast, bananas, mascarpone, raspberry butter, and pecan in one bite, I didn't need the maple syrup at all. Â The marriage of those items in a bite, was really awesome. Â The portion was big too - 3 whole slices of toast, cut in half, with big mount of potatoes, and 2 sausages - I was full, very happily full.
- Hubby had Two 40 Burger: 1/2 lb short rib & brisket blend, Cambozola cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, Bourbon smoked onions, port wine glaze, and micro arugula. Â It served with garlic dill potatoes, and hubby picked the candied bacon. Â He ordered his burger medium well - and it was delicious! Â It's juicy, nice flavors and that candied bacon - oh my. Â 3 thick cut bacon, very meaty, not too sweet, and they had some nice spice on them. Â
Along with the food, I had half-a-glass of Burgans Albarino. Â Very very nice white from Spain: fruity, but yet it's complex, a little dry and very smooth at the end.
Hubby had couple glasses of red, but didn't get the names for them - he liked both of them too.
Overall, we loved their brunch - and definitely will come back soon to try different items on the menu. Â Also, the waiter advised us that they changed their brunch menus frequently too - so looking forward to taste them.
I want to give a "huge" thank you to the Owner Grant for giving me a tour. I enjoyed learning so many tricks to the art of wine tasting. I do look forward to many more visit to this classy spot.
I must include: I adore the hostess named: Lauren. She is a doll!
Last but not least: the food is fabulous! Love, love and love this place!
Ambience: awesome! Especially for celebrations and happy hour. The cabana-style booths inside are way cool, as is the lit marble countertop at the bar.
Food: better than expected...I was expecting good, and all of our entrees were great! They especially do well with their duck and lamb chop.
Drinks: wonderful selection, including their barrel wines.
Service: excellent, although it took a little while for our food to arrive. But the yummy bread plate helped.
My wife and I went to Two40South last night for the first time and I'm so glad we did. Â We had an absolutely incredible evening. Â We were a little early for our reservation and they were a bit busy. Â The hostess said that it would be about 15-20 minutes before we could get seated. Â A few minutes later, Grant, the owner, greeted my wife and I with a two glasses and a bottle of Pinot for us to sample. Â This was the kind of service we received all evening. Â
We had the Tuna Tartar appetizer which melted in our mouths. Â For our entrees, my wife had the bacon wrapped duck and I had the diver's scallops. Â Each were delicious!!
We continued to have lovely conversations with the owner as well as Kevin, the General Manager. Â Along with our server, David, each of them really took their time to make sure we were being taken care of. Â I haven't had such personal service like that in a very long time, and it meant the world to us.
The vibe here is really fun too - classy but not stuffy. Â It's got a great atmosphere. Â It was the perfect mix of fine dining with a casual flare which is exactly what we were in the mood for. Â
Thanks to Grant, Kevin and the entire staff for taking care of us. Â We shall definitely come back. Â Oh...and the wines are fantastic too!!
Couldnt be more impressed with the knowledge and expertise Grant the owner showed us as he explained how they choose their wines by visiting the vinyards in pasa robles and made mention of the fact that most wines come straight from the barrel. he was also very helpful and gave us a great run through of some of his top picks of cabs, Merlots and pinots along with some really interesting vintages like the 1864 (?) bottle that's in his wine tasting station that goes for 1000 a glass! A glass not a bottle. And about 100 for .5 an ounce. Maybe someday...
The food was very delicious and full of flavor. I had the ribeye which was perfectly cooked with just the right seasoning. She had the bass that came with clams and she mentioned the broth was delicious. Ended it with the chocolate hazelnut torte that came with really good sorbet ice cream.
Looking forward to come again soon and try some different dishes and give a go at the wine tasting station which has 16 whites and 16 reds. Overall a wonderful experience. Thanks Grant and our waitress Lauren for a great night.
This was the first time we went to this restaurant. It is very deceiving from the outside. The place is huge inside. They have over 4 thousand different wines. So if you are a wine fanatic, this is the place you have to check out.
The Food was pretty good too, and our server Jennifer was very friendly. I had the rib eye and it was cooked just the way I like it. The food presentation was better than expected (almost upscale dining).
1 less star because the food did take a while to come out. Normally that is not a big deal, but we had to mention to our server that we have a movie to catch, and then she expedited the food immediately.
Overall a great experience.
Located near the edge of Downtown Brea, in between the Halloween Club and Buffalo Wild Wings, you might walk right by and not notice it. It's a small, cozy location, great place for a date. There's couch seating and tables, full bar to the right as you enter, back left is the kitchen, and back right is the bathroom. Coming on a Friday night, there was live music, a singer and two people playing instruments.
The food is good. Started with the Pork Belly Brek which was great with the bread, cheese, and wine. I really enjoyed their Sausage pizza. What did it for me was the thin crust. I don't normally eat the crust but since the bread was so good, it was easy to devour. The Angus Ribeye Cap seemed salty but their Chicken was great, paired with a White Polenta Cake that I liked. I want to try their Duck or Lamb next time.
They give you a plastic card so you can take it to the wine dispensing machine. Take a glass from the top, choose red or white wine, insert card, select the amount of wine desired. The service is slow cause it took a while for the food to come out and getting more bread took time. If I wasn't with good company, the wait would have been more noticeable.
I like the restaurant, I would definitely come back again. My only gripe is the amount we paid for the meal compared to the food and service. I would expect quicker delivery of my food and the portions to be bigger. I don't eat a lot at one sitting but the serving seemed small. When I had to walk to the machine and serve myself, the amount of each pour seemed little compared to the prices. I'm going with my instincts on this one cause something just doesn't feel right.
I do like the concept of this restaurant, very cool and hip. I really liked the decor and also the open kitchen in the back of the restaurant.
The self serve wine bar in my opinion was OK, you have an option of serving yourself a taste, half glass or full glass of wine. It got annoying when you wanted to serve yourself a glass of wine but have to wait until the "older" folks figured out how to use the card system and then figured out what button to press for the wine they wanted. I don't have any patients for that. Â
With that being said, if you are hungry and looking for a hearty meal, then this may not be the restaurant for you. Portions are SMALL, VERY SMALL! I ordered the $35 Scallop dinner which was said to be served with Mashed Cauliflower. When the dish came to the table, I was very disappointed. When they said mashed cauliflower, they really meant a pea size amount with the scallop on top, and they only served 3 scallops at that. Nothing else with the entree. As for the Cesar salad, I can't stand when restaurants serve you the entire stalk of romaine lettuce and you have to cut it up yourself.
The 4 of us each had an appetizer, salad, entree and desert and we ALL walked out of there STILL HUNGRY.
Service was great, I mean I had to serve myself wine so how could I not be great?
Do I get to tip myself since I did the majority of the work?
I may try this restaurant again, just for drinks though and have dinner at TAPS down the street where I know I am getting what I pay for as far as entrees are concerned.
Friends and I came here for some after dinner libations. Â Cool concept and vibe, and they have a massive wine list in addition to those machines you can use as well. Â A great way to try some different wines without it hitting you in the wallet too badly. Â
We got some Confit Fries to go along with our wine, and I wasn't a big fan. Â I like crispy fries, but there was just something weird about these, not burnt at all, but overdone for sure. Â I did enjoy the wine and our service was good even though we were sitting a weird location of the restaurant. Â Don't forget to use the check in offer for a free Barrel Tasting!
Went for my birthday and everything was fantastic! Â Love the self-serve concept and the wine selection was great. Â We also got the opportunity to have a few glass directly from the barrel which was a nice experience. Â We ordered duck, lamb and ribeye. All three entrees were perfect.
I have to say the best thing I liked about the overall experience were the staff members and their excellent customer service. Â The manager made it a point to come by and follow up to make sure everything was okay. Â I also talked to the owner who is the kindest man. Â Overall the entire night was awesome!
Wine tasting without going to a winery! I really liked the self-serve wine bar, they have tasting, half and full glass choices, I sampled a few white ones, it was so much fun!
We sat at the bar, started off our low key night with a dry vodka martini, followed by wine tasting, there was a man playing guitar in the front, very casual relaxing atmosphere. We ordered Tuna tartare to snack on while sampling wines, very delicious, loved the bread came with it. Our bartenders were very friendly and attentive, provided very good service for our wine tasting evening.
I liked the semi private cabanas so much, have to reserve one for a date night next time!
I really like this place. They have all these little cushy cabanas along the side, which adds a nice ambiance to hanging out/eating. They also have regular booths and dining tables.
One cool feature is they have this automatic wine dispensing machine in the center so you can fill your own wine glass (they have a generous supply of clean glasses hanging over the machine so you can always get a fresh glass). They have 20+ wines ready to be machine poured for you at the push of a button. The machine can perform a 6 oz, 3 oz or 1.5 oz pour. The prices are exactly proportional (i.e., no surcharge for a smaller pour.. a 1.5 oz pour is half the cost of a 3 oz, and a 3 oz is half the cost of a 6 oz), so feel free to sample! I elected the sommelier's choice which, that evening, was the Nelms Road Merlot (yes, it was good). Prices for wine are normal (most of them are $10-$22 per 6 oz pour).
They have various food choices but my friend and I got the sausage pizza and the smoked salmon pizza (thin crust, $15 each, very tasty), and a gelato for dessert (also very good, $8).
I went with my friends for a birthday party and I was so excited to go... I'd passed the restaurant on the way to Farrell's to-go window many a time and have been intrigued with the place for a while.
The experience was definitely novel. We sat in a cabana-style alcove complete with curtains (we kept them open, though, for easier access to the fancy wine machine). Fancy wine machine? Yes, it's an Enomatic. You get a card and swipe for each glass of wine you choose, and you can choose anywhere from a sip to a glassful. I was in awe of the machine. As the night went on, I was more and more fascinated with it.
But what I really was impressed by were the wines straight from the barrel. That's something to write home about. They had a white and a red, and I really wish I could tell you the particulars about barrel type, winery, how long the wine was in the barrel. I really do wish that.
We ate some good tapas-style food, too. My favorite were the pommes frites fried in duck fat. Yeah you're never going to hear me say that my favorite were the - insert the marginally healthier choices here-. They were crispy and had the right amount of oil to each bite. We had some other things, too, but, again, details escape me.
Big points: the Enomatic, wine by the barrel, and the (duck fat fatty) pommes frites. Also the bathrooms are fantastic, you just have to see and smell them for your pretty little selves. Hey, it's an important (if usually unmentionable) part of the dining experience! Especially when you're drinking a ton of wine. Am I right?
Small minuses: The restaurant itself was a bit too bright and exposed for me... I really wanted to close the curtains on the cabana at a certain point because the layout doesn't lend itself to an intimate atmosphere. Also I couldn't keep track of how much I was spending on the card... if it was prepaid ( maybe they do have that option, in which case I should have gone that route) theoretically I'd be able to be more thrifty.
I'm going back. The waiter we had was fantastic, too, he had a great sense of humor and knowledge of the wines and edibles and sourcing of both. And his name was MacGyver (!!). On that note, you must go!
This place is only okay. Â The concept, and the location gives this place so much potential, but their food was only sub-par. Â I ordered the Wagyu steak, and it didn't wow me. It's a good place to have a girls night out, but if you're expecting a classy night out with wine and good food, I'm not sure that I would recommend this place. Â
Upon arriving, we still had to wait even though I had a reservation. Â Once we were taken to our table, our server was extremely knowledgeable and accomdating, but after that he disappeared for most of the night. Â I can understand that their employees need to take breaks and such, but he probably should've had someone else take over for him while he was away rather than simply disappearing. Â We were given a card so that we could put into the wine machine, and it basically keeps a balance for you to pay in addition to your meal bill. Â That part was pretty cool, but the self-serve selection was disappointing. Â I mean, sure you can order a glass that's on the menu, but what's the fun in that?
Next, I'll have to move on to its patrons. Â I know it's impossible to control who comes into their restaurants if they seem sane at the door, but we were seated in a large room with a bunch of tables. Â There was a large table in particular, where they were the drunk, loud, and obnoxious type. Â They must've been celebrating a birthday or something because there were gift bags, but they were definitely old enough to know not to behave like animals in a restaurant. Â This basically ruined my experience overall. Â
I'm giving it 3 stars, because I've only been here once, and I must've ordered the wrong thing. Â Once I try it again, I'll add another review.
Just went here for a very round numbered birthday party and post-dinner drinks on the patio. Â I must say the libations -- in particular, the Fascinator (i.e., Manhattan) -- were stiff, cold and delicious. Â The food also seemed pretty good. Â Garlicky, herby fries and pizza, to be specific. Â The interior seemed pretty sexy, but I only got a glimpse of that on the way to the equally well decorated bathrooms. Â
The patio was large, with lots of seating, but the non-corner sections slid off like every five seconds. Â I ended up just tossing the cushion, which I'm sure thrilled the staff. Â Speaking of the staff, they were friendly but service was pretty slow. Â Maybe because (some of) our party was loud and obnoxious. Â Maybe because we were on the patio. Â Maybe because it was 100 degrees. Â Dunno. Â I have to imagine it's better inside.
Parking at the surrounding lots or streets (CHECK THE SIGNS) can be a beast, so you might want to valet at Taps.
"I went to a restaurant that serves "breakfast at any time" so I ordered French toast during the Renaissance."

Actually, for brunch with parental unit I ordered Ricotta Lemon Pancakes...very good as was the side of bacon. Â Bottomless Mimosas $15.00. Â This review update still does not earn them a 4th star though. Â Still slightly overpriced (That Mimosa price should be lowered as should food prices) and the wines in the enomatic machines are still pedestrian. Â However, service was excellent and sitting on the patio is lovely on a Sunday morning. Â I'd give them a 3.5 and would recommend this restaurant.
I'll come back for dinner and music one night.
