  I came all the way from Broadview IL, to get this bbq and I should have stayed on my side of town. I went to the Uncle John;s on 69th ST. This truck came flying down the street and almost kissed me. The area was bad and the food wasn't good at all. The ribs was heavenly seasoned and to top it off, they didn't have any french fries. people please don't go.

  I've been l o n g i n g for some good, no, GREAT barBque for a long while now.  I ended up at Uncle John's B.B.Q. after zooming north on Cottage Grove and noticing a Dat Donuts sign.  Someone I use to work w/told me about Dat Donuts years ago, and being the donut conneiseur that I is, I Uturned and headed back to check out Dat (see yelp review).  After purchasing a Dat, I moseyed on out the door and noticed a serious crowd of AA folk at Unc John's (in the same bldg. w/DAT)....JACKPOT, I thought, it must be good for that many folks to be jammed up in there for some que.
  
  Anywho, I'm going to keep this brief, I did not like the Unc's tip/link ($13+), and the sauce (mild on my food & I had the nerve to order a side of hot, just to check it out), UGH~it sucked and 3/4 of it, went in the gar-BAGE.
  
  My cousin tells a story of babysitting me as a lil' girl...and I would not stop cryin' because I wanted some ribtips and they had to go out and buy me some ribtips.  Fast forward to 2013, I"m still on that ribtips tip and I won't stop until I find 'em, as my all time favorite que place, has closed and my tips/links life hasn't been the same since :(

  I watched the Hungry Hound on ABC Channel 7 on Friday, February 15, 2013. The hubby and I decided to treck into the city to purchase food on Saturday, February 16, 2013.  I would say that the food was just okay.  I am not a rib person and I ordered the rib tips, hot links, and chicken for my daughter. My husband says that the chicken wings could of been better.
  
  I agree with Ahminah, the customer service is horrible. It is the same at Dat Donuts which is located next door. The woman that waited on me today was a Hispanic looking woman (didn't get her name).  She was rude.  When I asked for sauce on the side, she kept repeating that it is extra.  I politely told her that I have money.  I spent almost $50 there.  I don't know if the customer service that was rendered was because the place is located in the hood.  I had lived in the area about 22 years ago and it is definitely the hood.  
  
  Message to the owner:  You need to train your workers on good customer service.  I was offended when the woman kept repeating "the sauce is extra" three times like I can't read the signs that were posted ( I have to Masters degrees and work at a college).  She was very rude, ghetto, and uncouth.

  They will NEVER have to worry about me!
  Ok so I heard about how great the BBQ was from the 69th Street location. I truly just stumbled upon this location while visiting my favorite sweets shop Dat's Donuts. I went in and asked for a menu to take back to my family so that we could decide what we wanted and the cashier acted as though I was asking for platinum drinking goblets. I returned later to pick up my order from Dat's and decided to look up local area BBQ joints when I found out that this Uncle John's was the same one that was featured on ABC 7's Hungry Hound segment a few years back.
  So I called to place an order and the woman that answered was either going through "the change", just finished eating a bag of nails, or was just plain old mean. She had the biggest attitude as I was asking about certain menu items. I explained to her very nicely that I would be a first time customer and just wanted to know which combos they offered considering they did not have any menus. She adjusted her attitude VERY slightly to answer my simple question, so I placed my order. When I got out to pick up my order I just so happen to run into two young ladies that were talking about what a bad attitude the women working at Uncle John's had. When asked about their encounter they just stated that they are definitely not customer friendly and luckily the food is better than the service.
  Just like most of us here on Yelp I work very hard for every dollar I earn so I will not be patronizing any business that does not appreciate and respect the customer. Maybe they need to be reminded which side the rib tips are sauced on.

  Love the new location and yes they still have to work on customer service. I was satisfied with my rib tips and hot link. The ribs were not the best I have had from here.
