What can I say that you probably don't already know bout Village Inn? The food is usually pretty decent and the service is pretty good. Typical American food with good flavors and lots of choices. This is a great choice when we don't feel like driving all the way to central Denver, or waiting for an hour.
Review Source:I really don't think that the previous negative review of this Village Inn was well deserved based on my personal experience.
My husband and I rolled in here for a late night dinner (~10:30 pm). Â We had been studying and working all day and our eating schedule was completely out of whack. Â We were also starving, and wanted something quick and close to home. Â At this time of night, there weren't many patrons, so our service was super quick. Â Our waitress was remarkably perky for that time of night. Â Impressive. Â By comparison, we must have looked tired and sullen.
Fortunately, our food arrived rapidly (two omelets with included two small stacks of pancakes). Â The omelets were fluffy, not overcooked, and filled with fresh veggies. Â The pancakes were also fluffy. Â Not the fluffiest I've had, but pretty fluffy. Â (Why was I obsessed with fluffiness? Â I must have been thinking of the fluffy pillow I was going to pass out on after dinner). Â ;)
The fruit cup was a bit lackluster (some not-so-sweet watermelon, grapes, and pineapple), but it's a Village Inn. Â I won't hold it against them too much.
I liked the quirky, colorful, 1950s-influenced decor. Â Colorful, pastel stripes and some antique-y touches from the era added a touch of fun.
After living in Aurora for over a year and a half, I'm surprised we haven't stopped here before. Â Now that we know what the quality of food is, we'll likely be back for other late-night, oh-god-I-forgot-to-eat-and-look-at-the-time outings.
In an attempt to make it a special first day of school - the kids and I decided to go for Funny Face breakfasts at Village Inn this morning. MISTAKE - we left with Frowny Faces for sure! The restaurant was not busy in the least - I think there were 5 tables there. It took nearly an hour for us to get our food!!! And when our food did finally arrive my 3 small berry pancakes were as thin as paper, definitely not worth the money. The kids' Funny Faces did not even resemble faces at all, and didn't have whipped cream on them (which we all know is the best part of the Funny Face Breakfast) I am sorry, AN HOUR??!!! For pancakes and eggs!! It was horrible! Don't you people specialize in BREAKFAST!?!? Even my 9, 7 and 5 year old were able to depict how horribly SLOW it was! Our server was a sweetheart and apologized for how long it took for the food to come out! She stated there was a new cook this morning, and that he had made a mistake, and she attempted to sooth my frustrations with free hashbrowns or fruit.. But we were in such a rush to get out of there to get to school on time, that the kids scarfed down their breakfasts in about 4 minutes, were not even able to finish, and we had to run out the door. So much for a FUN, relaxing, nice breakfast before the first day of school - We will not go back anytime soon, IF EVER!
