Very surprised by the negative reviews. Granted, it won't remind anyone of Little Italy in Baltimore or New York, but for a dinky town like Amherst, it's very very good. We ate there three times in four days (one lunch and two dinners), plus one carryout, since there isn't much else other than fast food in town (the other real restaurant was closed for vacation).

The service was consistently prompt, friendly, courteous, and efficient. The atmosphere is a little too sports bar-ish for my taste, but nothing off putting.

Pizza is a medium crust, with a good tomato sauce and excellent cheese. The crust is tasty, although I would like it a bit crisper. Toppings are all very good quality.

Pastas are also very good. The sauce on the spaghetti and meatballs tasted fresh, with meatballs that were tasty and had good texture. The lasagna was not quite as successful, as it had too much cheese for my taste, but it was still more than acceptable.

All in all, for a small Italian place in a rural Virginia town, they do a great job. Amherst is a culinary desert, but Vito's makes trips here a bit more enjoyable.

Horrid. This restaurant looks promising based on the decor and packed parking lot but don't be fooled. The food at Vito's is extremely over priced, service is poor at best, and the quality of the food is horrendous. I've tried this restaurant on three separate occasions hoping that the times before we're just coincidently bad--nope. If you enjoy frozen, not fresh cuisine-- this is the place for you! If you enjoy waiting for 10+ minutes for your drink to be refilled--this is the place for you! If you enjoy wasting your hard earned money on lacklustere food--this is the place for you! Bon appetite!

I'd also like to add this is my first ever online review. I normally wouldn't take the time out of my busy schedule to bash a local business but this place is just awful. I wish I could nominate them for Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares. It would be perfect!

Not as good as the one in Lovingston, but it is the best pizza near the town of Amherst.

Service can be slow some days and quick on others.  Food is usually mediocre and doesn't stray much from that standard.

Is there less than one star? Wow. The place looks cool.  Stopped there after doing some driving through virginia. Servers didn't recognize us  when walked in. And of course, let's just get to the food. Ordered mushrooms and they were hard as a brick on the outside and frozen on the inside. For the entree, we ordered the  Marg pizza. This is absolutely the WORST pizza I have ever had.  Avoid.
