Friendly service, great sushi and nice atmosphere. This is a must visit if you're looking for great sushi in the Lancaster area. Hidden in a Kmart shopping mall, this gem offers a very nice menu for the Asian food lover. Bring the whole family and ask for the traditional wooden sunken table for added fun!

if you want good service, this is not the place for you.  the servers have no personality.  a drive thru would be better service.
if you want good sushi, this is the place for you.  Good combos, fresh.   Good food in an unlikely strip mall.

Although I spend most of my time in Lancaster city, getting out to Wasabi is worth it.  They have a great menu and the sushi, in my opinion, is the best in the county.  For non-sushi Asian food lovers, their menu offers many non-sushi choices.  My 5 star review of this sushi house is relative to the location in Lancaster County.  If you are interested in sushi, you must give this place a try.

We've been few times in this restaurant while staying in Double Tree Hotel with grandchildren.
First POSITIVE: Great tasting food, nice ambiance and mostly attentive service (unless you have a teenager for your waitress who does not have a clue how dangerous allergy can be).
Now NEGATIVE: That was the case when we had lunch in this place. Our grandson is allergic to eggs, kiwi, lime and nuts. We wanted to order the ice cream for the kids but they said they don't have any at the moment and recommended mochi cake convincing us that there is no way it has eggs in it not even reading the ingredients on the package. Well it turns out there were egg whites in the rice paper covering the ice cream and we landed in Emergency room right after their lunch.
To be fair I believe it's partly our fault not insisting on checking the ingredients on the package, but still think that servers should be better trained in this matter.
In our case our grandchild recovered pretty quickly, but in some cases you can end up dead and if the restaurant doesn't want to have a court case on their hands they HAVE TO BE more careful when it concerns people with allergies.

Looking for one of those "hole in the wall" restaurants?  Wasabi is located at Kendig Square in Willow Street.  It is a great place for Sushi and Asian cuisine!  Very popular place around here.  Look for their coupons in the Clipper!

Gotta try their "Eel" and "You give it your own name" Sushi roll with their spicy mayonaisse!!

Suggestion for you. Must try combo desert. Fried cheesecake and ask to add a scoop of red bean ice cream on the side. It may cost extra but it's worth it and great for 2 people.

Excellent asian food and a diverse menu. Somewhat of a strange location - tucked into a strip mall on the outskirts of Lancaster but the food more than makes up for the (somewhat relative) lack of convenience. A real gem.

Try the Sweet Potato Tempura Roll - truly excellent!

Not what I expect to find in the outskirts of Lancaster. Better than what I find in many places in the NYC suburbs.

Great variety, great combinaioni of dishes from different parts of Asia - making the name a bit misleading.

Flavors and textures were well thought out.  And if you think you'll never find what you want at a bait shop (because you think all sushi and sashimi  is really just glorified bait)1 you are naming. Big mistake.

The only reason this place doesn't get my fifth star is,thanks to Yogi Berra, a cliche -  nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded.   The wait time on weekends can be deadly.  They need a better solution.

What a wonderful experience! For any sushi fan or soon-to-be fan, I definitely reccomend visiting Wasabi. It's a BYOB and they pour your drinks for you. Amazing selection of sushi that is very fresh. The service is fast and friendly too.

Don't be deceived by the outside appearance, this place is a gem in Lancaster!

I live Wasabi! When you live in southern Lancaster county there are not too many great places to eat if you don't want to drive 30min. To have an excellent place to eat and it also be a sushi place is like a dream come true! On top of that, I also think it has some of the best sushi in Lancaster, and I've eaten at many of them. No matter how busy them seem, and they do get packed, they've never once gotten anything wrong with our order. It is consistently good.

They have the BEST sushi in the Lancaster area! Some of the best I've ever had. They have some wonderful flavor combinations. It's BYOB which is awesome. They are super accommodating if you bring wine or beer. Call for a reservation and reserve one of their sunken tables in the back!

It's been quite a while since I had sushi so good I kept it in my mouth, relishing the taste, chewing really really slowly.  The sushi pieces were fresh and thick, and varied.  (The yellowtail was tastier than I've had in years!)

We had a few rolls, too.  The spicy tuna roll was thick, and had a nice kick which took a moment to arrive.  The spider roll was big, with a good crunch and a spectacular sauce.  Even the California roll, which is so often a throwaway, was made with care.

We're not in Lancaster too often, but this place is very likely to become our new good-food-to-drive-to restaurant.

Another sushi spot but this accually has  real floor seating, but never  in 10 years of eating sushi have I ever ordered miso soup that left a after taste, yak. The sushi was average, pricing as well. Good lunch specials. Like to come back n try bento boxs.

In such a tiny town you wouldn't expect such a great sushi place.

I am a great fan of Wasabi. I really enjoy going here to get my regular sushi fix. I have gone here for many occasions from lunch to formal dinners and it has always suited the intent. I love to get the TNT roll when I am here. It is the first real raw roll I ever had and it sparked my love affair with sushi.

The TNT roll is really a great roll for somebody who has never had sushi and wants to venture into it.

The atmosphere is very nice. It's not the most upscale place, but for Willow Street and for the price it is very nice. The tables are nice, there are booths, tables, and some other type of raised wooden tables that I have never eaten at.

I don't drink but I know that Wasabi is BYOB so you don't have to fret if you want to bring along your favorite wine for you sushi.

I recommend this restaurant all the time to people. It truly has some great sushi for a price that is more than reasonable.

This place has the best sushi. However, because of events that transpired on 4/10/11 I vow to NEVER go back to this establishment.

Bill was $70. Ordered all sushi plus 2 green salads and water. Tipped $10 which is 15% of the bill. $5 of the tip went to the waitress and the other $5 of the tip went to the sushi making guy. When the waitress returned the change and I told her that the remainder was her tip ($5) she asked if that was it, and I said yes, I tipped $5 to the sushi maker and $5 to her and and I felt that was fair. To add insult to injury, she came back to the table a second time and asked "well how was my service" -- when I said fine, and reexplained the logic for that amount she huffed away. At this point I was ticked. I asked to speak with a manager. The manager listened to my explanation and details of the story, while the waitress stood there and interjected her own opinions and the manager merely said to me "don't worry about it, I'll talk to her."

I was not looking for free stuff or asking for a discount because of the altercation. Really, just an apology - either from the waitress or the manager -- would have been sufficient. Since this did not happen and I do not feel the situation was properly addressed I will never go back to this place.

Another point that really bothers me is that the last two times we went here, the waiter or waitress tried to "upsell". Imagine ordering one roll and being told that another roll is much more delicious (albeit more expensive). I find the entire concept of upselling rude and obnoxious and I certainly don't expect it from a restaurant.

No matter how many nights I have to lay awake and dream of their sushi - I will be steadfast and find a new best sushi place.

Best sushi in Lancaster County.  Wonderful staff that make you feel very welcome, rest of the menu excellent as well.  Yes, tucked in a strip mall but don't let that turn you off.  One of us is shellfish intolerant and has never had a cross-contamination problem there /cough/ notalwaysthecaseinotherlocalthaiplaces /cough/.

Favorites are the miso soup and any bento box.  Heaven help you if you order more than five peppers on the heat scale, they show no mercy.

Who would have thought that a tiny Thai/Japanese restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in rural Lancaster, PA could have some of the best Thai food I've ever had???

I had an addiction to this place when I was living in Lancaster. I was a loyal customer at least 1-2 times per week. I used to annoy the hell out of my boyfriend while begging him to go with me to Wasabi every Saturday for lunch. They have the best green curry, the best miso soup, the best fried rice, the best long bean stir-fry, excellent sushi and yummy desserts. I love the flavored aloe drinks, too. Years later, I just happened to be in town last weekend and had to take advantage of an opportunity to return here. The green curry is still the best green curry I've found yet. The staff is still super friendly. The food is still awesome. The prices are still very reasonable.

Although the first time I had Thai was at Lemongrass in Lancaster, Wasabi is where I truly fell into a passionate, enduring love with Thai food. I really do love this place.

My favorite place for sushi (fancy mango roll!) but everything there is great. A few of my favorites are the Indian curry fried rice, basil sauteed chicken and the best crispy beef I have ever had. The service is fast and friendly, too.

I went here twice while I was in Lancaster for business.  I went based on reviews here on Yelp and was at least as pleased as those who recommended it here.
I got the Sushi/Sashimi combo the first time and a couple spicy rolls the second time.  All the food was very good.  The miso was pleasant as well as the green tea.
I took off one star because the service was a little bit slow and they don't take your payment at the table, you have to bring it up front - at least there was someone there all the time!  I was not in a hurry so it did not sour my opinion of the place, but a large group or those pressed for time might think otherwise.

Wasabi's location and exterior are laughable, but the food is delicous. The sunshine roll is one of the relatively cheaper options, but it's always one of my favorites, even more so than some of the elaborate options.

Also, I've gotten the Singaporean noodle dish a couple of times and it was great, especially when you tell them to bump the heat up.

It's always a simple and delicious meal that is priced quite reasonably. BYOB is always a plus.

This is the best restaurant I know of in Willow Street and definitely one of the best Asian restaurants in all of Lancaster. I believe it is a bit of Japanese/Thai fusion. I almost always get the Pineapple Chicken which is very very good. While I tend to order for take out, the restaurant itself is quite nice, and I remember the service being quite friendly. If you're around Willow Street looking for a nice place to eat, this is definitely the place to go.

Place is incredibly deceptive from the outside.  Its in a parking lot with a dingy Kmart, a subway, and a pizza place only good for making you sick.
With that being said...Wasabi is delicious I live near by and its the ONLY place in town I'll eat it.  Its fresh, their thai curries are delish, tofu is always firm and flavorful never floppy or spongey.  The sushi is top is pretty top notch and the staff is nice and prompt.

The decor could use some updating and the walls could totally use a fresh coat of paint but its a cute place- if your in Willow Street there is NO EATING ANYWHERE ELSE.  I wish they would have more specials the menu pretty much never changes except the sushi.  Easy to get a table though even on the weekends and the soups are yummy. BYOB for right now but at least that option is there!

I totally recommend if your in the area you'll surely enjoy whatever you try!

Having eaten in Japan, we know that freshness is key to good sushi, and Wasabi has the freshest sushi-grade fish in town at a very reasonable price. Wasabi also serves up other authentic Japanese dishes that aren't served elsewhere in Lancaster.

The service is reliably excellent. We've always just been able to walk-in for dinner with no wait and sit at a four-top or two-top table, but if you'd like to sit at a one of the attractive private booths, make a reservation. You're welcome to sit at the sushi bar, too, although I rarely see anyone bold enough to do so. I pledge to try it soon! Maybe we can convince the chef to make the nigiri in the Japanese style--more bite-sized with a touch of wasabi under the fish--yum!

I'd rate Wasabi 5-stars, but there is room to improve the table arrangement and the lighting to further enhance the dining experience. We'll continue to sample other Japanese closer to Lancaster city, but I bet we'll always find ourselves back at Wasabi.

We were very surprised the first time we visited.
    Nice selection, and great food.
Very small and cozy, private, nice place to bring a date.
Every time I've visited I've been impressed by the quality of
the seafood, it's freshness and the preparation.
Very clean, good prices and portions.
    BYOB, highly recommend.

NO! I want to give it a bad review so nobody else will come here and make my wait for a table even longer than I have been recently experiencing..

ok that being said, the sushi is VERY VERY GOOD.  I am absolutely addicted to the Crystal Roll. We also always get the standard spicy tuna rolls and they are always so good. I am floored that i can find a decent quality sushi restaurant in WILLOW STREET PA!

The entrees are not exceptional, but we have a few favorites we get everytime.  The chicken masaman curry is very good, as is the yellow curry fried rice. We usually mix them both together. Add a few sushi rolls and we leave stuffed to the gills.

    Definitely worth a try.

A pumpkin sushi roll? I'm so there!

On Saturday, we met up with friends in Lancaster and they wanted sushi. They had already done their Yelp research so off to Wasabi we went.

It was probably around 5:30 on a Saturday night and they were almost full. Luckily, we got one of the last open tables.

The menu is pretty diverse. They even had vegetarian sushi rolls which I've never heard of before. I couldn't resist getting their pumpkin tempura sushi roll. And you  know what? It was good! It added a nice sweetness to the meal.

The rest of the rolls we got were all really good. The service was excellent.  If you're nearby, I would definitely pay this place a visit.

This place is why I love Yelp. I was in town for a conference, and I wanted to get something for dinner that was relatively healthy and close. The last thing I was expecting here, honestly, was good sushi, but the reviews convinced me and I gave it a try.

Wasabi was so good, better than my standby spot in the DC suburbs has been lately. I loved the combo salmon/avocado/cucumber roll without all the mayo/cream cheese that my local places seem obsessed with (and yes I can ask them to leave it off but it's nice to just have simple options.) The tuna and scallion roll was lovely as well, and the sashimi was very fresh. I just had room for two pieces of yellowtail but I may grab some for the road on Thursday.

Best? Very friendly woman helped me both times, and the second night we had a nice chat. It makes a difference, especially as accustomed as I am to dismissive customer service and garden variety rudeness. I felt good about patronizing their restaurant and sent a bunch of colleagues here too. I wish them much success in this spot.

I was sooo surprised to find an excellent sushi place in Lancaster - and Willow Street for that matter!

Wasabi is about 5 minutes away from my parent's house and on a recent trip home to visit me and some old friends decided to check it out. I never thought to try it before because of it's location and the fact that I wasn't pleased with other sushi places in the area. Boy was I making some bad assumptions!

Wasabi does not leave much to be desired from the outside, it's located in a strip mall that is also home to a K Mart, and a Dollar Tree. But once you are inside it is a whole different world! As soon as we entered the staff was full of smiles and friendliness. She asked if we had a reservation (we didn't) but still got a seat right away, even though the place was packed.

The menu is HUGE, there were so many options it took us over 15 minutes to decide. They worked with my friend who has celiac disease and can't eat any wheat, which is sometimes a difficult matter at restaurants, especially those with foreign waiters...

Another bonus, Wasabi is BYOB! She gladly took our wine bottle and corked it for us (no corking fee yay!). We were all greatly pleased with our meals and left soooo full. I'm looking forward to returning and trying out other menu items. There was so much I wanted to try and the service was excellent! There is no other sushi place in the Lancaster area that can compare.

I've been to Wasabi, probably 6 times now.  There's no other sushi place around Lancaster that can compare to Wasabi.  My favorite appetizer is the crab rangoon, and our usual is the love boat (lotsa sushi on a boat, feeds two people).  I've enclosed pics...

TA DA!! Finally, I have found an above average, good quality sushi joint in the pa/md/de area. Ahhh, I am currently so full I could puke a little, which is always a good sign of a tasty sushi meal.

I'll start by saying the rolls are perfect. Just the right size, neatly rolled and presented very nicely. There's no pink ginger on these plates, and some of the garnishes were lovely and tasty, like the spearmint to cleanse your palate btw rolls. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the roll that was on special, but it was one of the the BEST rolls I've ever had...it involved seared tuna, shrimp tempura and some white fish...so good.

On another plus side, the prices are great. We had 7 special rolls and 2 orders of sashimi for $75. My only complaint, it's BYOB.

Wasabi is a Japanese restaurant with nice interior design and equally good food. It is a very comfortable and pleasant place to eat. There are a number of regular tables, as well as a few tatami tables and a sushi bar. The staff is very welcoming and friendly, adding to the already positive environment.

The food is also quite good. They have a number of sushi selections as well as other types of Japanese food. The price is reasonable for the food that they are serving. The menu is varied in its tastes, so every dish tastes somewhat different. Overall, I find all of the food very good. This is one of my favorite restaraunts in the area.
