Found this review on Yelp and had to check it out since it was in the new 'hood. I called beforehand to check they were still open and spoke to a younger male. I asked about the food and he said they had lots of different things on the menu; a good variety overall. He kind of sold me on the place. Â
Westwoods Bar & Grill is the clubhouse for Westwoods Golf Course (as Wendee W. mentioned.) They have a wall of windows that faces north, overlooking the golf course (the houses behind the golf course kind of ruin the view - IMO.) Despite, that there is a nice longish patio that would be great for drinks in the warmer months.
Well, luck has it that the 20ish male on the phone was our waiter. He just kind just took his time with no urgency to his service (the place had some customers but was not full; most had been served.) I would refer to his waitering skills as "lackadasical" -I'm pretty sure he was clueless about timing, in general.
The food was good. I had a French Dip and the hubby had Fish & Chips. Service, on the other hand, needed some polish.
I asked for some A-1 sauce and he brought back a bottle that was empty and told me "I think there is still some left" (and dude wants a tip too!) It had about a teaspoon of sauce left. I had to flag down a waitress and ask her for another bottle of A-1. I'm sorry; thats just kind of lazy.
Four stars for the food
Two stars for the service
equals.........Three stars for Westwoods Bar & Grill
Oh yeah, some couple brought in their kid w/th portable DVD play to keep his trap shut. The kid kept kicking my husband's chair; We had to move the table over; it was annoying. Who in the hell brings a DVD player to a restaurant to eat dinner (w/th multiple TV sets on around the room?) Bad parenting or maybe thats just how they do it in the 'burbs.
