This place was a terrible venue for my friends birthday party. We had a large group going and I contacted the bar trying to arrange VIP and/or bottle service, however no one ever got back to me. When we arrived at the bar, I found the manager and told him that we were interested in moving into the very clearly empty VIP room and getting bottle service, however he seemed very uninterested and told me that they already had the room booked, however if that group didn't show up he would let me know. Throughout the night, I kept checking with him and he never seemed interested in letting us into the room for bottle service (You think they would be interested in accomadating a large group with credit card in hand?). The DJ was horrible as well, he seemed only interested talking to the girls hanging out in his booth instead of listening to the requests of the patrons.
Needless to say, I don't think we'll be back.
I can really only judge this bar based upon two consecutive Saturday visits (one of my friends was upset that she missed the first one so I had to go back with her), but...*cringe*. The DJ, whom they apparently have there every Saturday night, played a mix of music that hurt my soul. Techno...rap...techno...oh yay, they're playing a good song...that promptly gets mixed with more techno and then stopped after one verse. Apparently I am not the only one who felt that way; there were really not that many people dancing, proportionally. Â Also, the drinks were weak and it took forever to get them, despite tipping well.
The main reason that I'm giving two stars instead of one is that first, you're allowed to dance on the bar, which is always a plus. Second, the front door guy is adorable and friendly, seemingly to everyone, and one of the bouncers was awesome with one of my brother's friends, who insisted on doing splits on the bar, jumping off of it, etc. He didn't make her stop; he just pleasantly made sure she didn't kill herself. The other bouncers seem cool too. They might have bumped my rating up to a 3rd star, except that the guy running the bull threw me off almost immediately both times I rode, while leaving other girls up there for quite a while by being very gentle with said bull. And no, it wasn't an attractiveness issue, I promise.
Tucked into a strip mall, the Whiskey Ranch is a country/rock mix bar. Â The big draw is a mechanical bull which dominates one side of the bar. Â The other half of the bar has a dance floor and seating. Â Drinks are moderately priced, but pretty limited to domestic beers and liquors. Â The DJ the night we were there had a good mix of music. Â Seating was available at one of two bars, a lounge area, or tables located throughout the building.
If you like a loud, cheap place, then Whiskey Ranch fits the bill. Â If you want a more "sophisticated" crowd, then consider looking elsewhere.
