I've driven by this place countless times over the course of my 24+ years. For the first time over the weekend (Saturday...or v. early Sunday to get technical), I took boyfriend and a friend to check it out. We showed up at 1AM on Sunday and the bouncer asked us for $7.00 cover. The place was half empty and we *might* have been able to get two drinks in if we were lucky. There wasn't even a band playing at that point. I looked at the bouncer and said, "No, thanks," spun on my heels and ushered my companions out the door.
Highlight of the experience was two v. drunk girls laughing as they posed on what were clearly someone else's motorcycles as some thug-ish dudes snapped their pictures.
Lowlight of the evening: aside from trying to get jacked for $7 at the door -- the parking lot is seriously tiny and I had a heck of a time pulling into and our of a spot in the mini van I happened to be driving that evening. I wouldn't have been comfortable in my Grand Am, either, though.
We hopped across the street to Sweeney's Saloon and had a grand old time, despite the less than mediocre "hardcore" cover band that was playing in the next room.
My first impression of this place was that it was run down and kind of dirty...plus they charged an $8 cover because of a band that night...$8? Seriously? For THIS place?
I agree with the reviewer below...when I wasnt surrounded by the guys that came with our group that night, I was oogled. BUT THANK GOD for the band that came on. While today's pop and rap are great for a bar, I prefer a live band that plays rock and alternative stuff, and they played a collection of 90s and today's rock. My friends hated the band and wanted the DJ back on but hey, it beats "Milkshake" and "In Da Club" and all that other overplayed pop crap that he was playing.
I would suggest going on a night where the DJ ISN'T there.
im not gonna say no one would like this place, because there were hundreds of ppl there so there must be ppl who like it. but don't go unless u r into a straight up meat/meet market. there's no hiding this fact behind a nice atmosphere or good beer bc this place has neither. its strictly for dressing as sexy as possible and and flirting like hell. not for me.
