service was ok for lunch hour. We sat at bar and the waitresses were friendly but I wish they came around more often to check to see if we wanted refills. Food was decent bar food (buffalo chicken strips and onion rings) but the chicken was a little overcooked. Overall, good place to catch a game.

Stick with the basics: a charcoaled chicken sandwich, a burger, pizza, or the giant antipasto to share, and you'll be happy. My experience has been hit-or-miss with soups and "fancier" menu items.

Plenty of draft beer options, lots of TV's, and generally friendly service make this a busy neighborhood gathering spot. We also head to Wildflowers for something to eat after most other area restaurants are closed for the night.

Another plus? It's not a chain establishment.

Come on now... Wildflowers has been a staple in this area for decades!!! What amazes me about this place is the "cohabitation" of locals and the infusion of corporate America which has infiltrated the area over the past decade.
Here's the Deal...Don't come here looking for cloth napkins. It is what it is...the place works as a good "watering hole" Both the restaurant and bar side are consistently busy...The food will surprise you. Their pizza & burgers are very good and they usually have a list of specials which offer some interesting options.

I really don't know what all the fuss is about this place. Perhaps it's just locals that grew up when there where not many restaurants in the area, but this place is always full. We'd drive by and notice the parking lot full to capacity just about every single time. One day my wife, my two daughters and I decided to check it out. It has a very rustic feel to it, and was pretty dark, even though it was lunch time on a Sunday. We were seated quickly and the waiter was a friendly young woman, perhaps a family member. The food came quickly enough but I must say, it was not the best even for a greasy spoon, which this place is not supposed to be.

So, not being a native Penningtonite, I have a very different experience and take on Wildflowers. Sorry, wish I could have rated it higher but for me, two stars.

Hosted a party here for Christmas for our dept. the staff was great to work with in planning. Party was just fabulous. One star missing due to parking being terrible. Other than that it was perfect!

The onion soup is absolutely perfect! The mussels are delicious and tender. Our service was prompt & efficient during a busy lunch hour. I'm going back very soon!

Let me start by saying I read several Yelp reviews before going to Wildflowers. I knew the wait time would be longer than average, and it was. I knew just what to order: gorgonzola fries, a burger, margarita pizza, kens mussels, etc... So, you would think with all that prep work, we would be set for a good meal. Well, think again. The fries were ok. Certainly not worth the $9.50 we paid. The rest of what we ordered was inedible. So much so that we didn't eat any of it. Even though we were starving. The mussels were in a tasteless (supposed to be spicy) sauce. They were tiny and chewy. It was accompanied by Ken's Bread, apparently a specialty, which was so greasy I couldn't eat it. The burger was not cooked medium as requested and was tasteless. But, the pizza was the worst. It looked good. This place is famous for their pizza. The crust was nice and crispy thin the way we like. However, it tasted like NOTHING. No flavor whatsoever. We couldn't eat anything we ordered. That has just never happened to my easygoing family before. I told the manager and she graciously took the items off the bill. That is one thing I will say, they are nice at Wildflowers. Just don't go there expecting a good meal.

I tried Wildflowers for the first time last night mostly based upon the picture of a pizza on yelp that looked "right". And boy was it. I live in over in PA and this is my favorite pizza in the area. Even better than the better known name tomato pie places within ten or so miles. This was takeout for a family gathering so a big order and everyone tasted everything. Everything was excellent but the pizza and burgers stood out, which was the majority of the order along with sides.

Even though the pizza is easily my new favorite, with its perfect balance of quality cheese and tasty sauce, it was the burgers that blew me away. I don't think I have ever had a better burger outside of port of call in New Orleans. It was perfectly cooked and it was the first time I have had a burger in a restaurant anywhere near where I live that had no crunchies or chewies or bone shards or gross spots in the meat. Absolute burger perfection.

The sides were good, the Gorgonzola fries may be pricey at a glance on the menu, but they are absolutely smothered in cheese and great, crisp, perfectly cooked bacon. The fried zucchini was not greasy and very tasty. The regular fries are extremely tasty steak fries, and they give you a big portion with your burger or meal.

I can't speak to in restaurant service, but the person who took my takeout order was very nice and helpful. The food was ready for me when I got there and I arrived in the time frame given. Boxed up nicely in a blue moon case box. It's nice inside, and reminded me of my favorite bar in northern New York.

Overall fantastic food and I look forward to eating in restaurant and taking out again. Best burgers and pizza in the area, and I've been on a quest looking for good ones.

EXTREMELY SLOW. We ordered at noon and had our appetizer 45 minutes later. They were just chicken fingers. Burgers took an hour. Plus one star for the good food but if time matters at all to you, you're better off going anywhere else. Defnitely not a place to go to for lunch if you work.

We went to the Wildflowers for lunch with a group of 12 people. The service was slow, the food arrived after 35 minutes of waiting. The silverware that was place on the table was kind of dirty and so were the glass. The interior is typical pub style (old and not very well thought through). The food that they serve is a bit on the plain side, everything tasted like it was missing basic ingredients (salt and pepper)

I would personally not return to this place anytime soon

We go to Wildflowers whenever the mood hits for a good charbroiled burger and cold beer. This necessitates a short drive over from PA and is worth the trip.
Today we went for dinner for the first time and were not disappointed. My friend had steak and I had stuffed shells and both meals were reasonably priced and prepared well. We opted for French Onion soup which was very good. My small glass of Shiraz ($6) was a good compliment to the pasta.
Server was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive.

Solid 3 stars. Been here lots over the years. I would call the place comfortable in its own skin. Place like this shouldn't change a lot. This time house salad (simple but fresh and chilled) pasta and huge tasty meatball plus gin and tonic and then a beer. While scanning the televisions around the bar to keep up with various games. My buddy had wings. They didn't look appealing to me. Not like what I see when I go to buffalo wild wings. Can't go wrong here with the pizza and pasta. Good friendly efficient service. 6 pack to go and a reasonable check at the end. Conveniently on the Pennington circle. Has it's place in the rotation of local places to go for a solid meal at a table or at the bar.

The #1 thing to get here is their buffalo chicken pizza. It is the absolute best I've ever had! However the rest of their food is just average and sometimes the service is sooooo slow.

I will have to agree with some that the service can be very slow at times and I find that the bigger your party, the slower the service.

That aside, their food is AH-MAY-ZINNNG. I've had their wings, their pizza, and their lobster bisque. (Interesting array of choices I must say.) There are no free refills which is kind of upsetting since they have a full bar. Whatever.

They changed the menu a bit. I used to love this pizza called "Kevin's Pie" it had pretty much everything on it and was pretty spicy. I don't think they have anything like it anymore but I still enjoy their other choices. I now go for the "garbage" one (garbage truck?)...can't think of the exact name but it has pretty much all the toppings you can get. (I am seeing a trend with my choices...)

Suprisingly I like their pizza a lot even though it's not the crispy, cracker thin, crust that I am used to. It's not too thick and not to thin, and it doesn't fall apart under the weight of the asinine amount of toppings I order. So, in a sense, it's perfect.

The wings are also delish. Nice and spicy. And I was kind of addicted to their lobster bisque. Very hearty, perfect for a cold winter day.

Price wise it is not "cheap"...but not overly expensive. I have nothing to say regarding the bar because I have only ever came to sit at a table. I will return and I would (and I did) recommend it to friends.

The location is good and they participate in http://restaurant.com. This is why my friend and I tried here last night. The bar area was packed, as was the parking lot- they definitely do not have enough parking. The restaurant is a little loud since the bar is so close, and the service is pretty lacking. We didn't have too much of an issue, but the tables around us were flagging her down all night asking for silverware and new drinks, stuff that was missing from their order, etc.

The food was not spectacular, but based on the other reviews, I'm pretty sure it's because of what we ordered. We both went with large salads. I got the "that salad" without chicken (since I'm vegetarian, and there weren't that many options!) and everything was from a can. So pretty disappointing for a salad as your meal.

We did order an appetizer though, the spinach dip, and it was fabulous. Should have come with more to dip in it though. It arrived in a bread bowl, with only 4 small chunks of bread and the lid, so we got a little messy taking the thing apart and then quickly ran out of bread all together.

Overall, the experience was just OK. But not really OK enough to try again.

Yum! Wildflowers is the place to go. Their buffalo wings are delicious and the pizza isn't bad itself. Great to takeout or to sit down and relax at the restaurant. It's often crowded, and I can see why. If you go the wings and pepperoni pizza are a must have.

While the food is good the service is not that great. Really the only bar to go to in the Pennington area though.

Feeling decadent, we started with the Gorgonzola Fries with Bacon. Thick-cut fries completely smothered in a mild blue cheese with sizeable pieces of bacon mixed in...ahhhh. It was like a decadent, deconstructed loaded baked potato. I then split a small pizza and small salad - the Eggplant Pie was less satisfying with less cheese and, therefore, a drier pie then I typically like. The Mediterranean Salad was also fairly uninspiring...I would go back to Wildflowers, but it might just be for the Gorgonzola Fries.

Service isn't the greatest. Everyone is bored and kind of asleep at the wheel. They also charge extra for every little thing. I think the owner should pay more attention to the staff and also include things like the cost of onions IN the prices, as opposed for separately. It's really silly to charge someone 25 cents if they want onions on their sandwich. Also the $1.50 upcharge for sweet potato fries is silly for the portion. Cake was good, though.

Duh. Bad service ( and that hits Wildflowers on the head) is management's problem. They hire kids and obviously do not do any training. I used to go to W's often because, as so many others have noted, the food is pretty good. But now I will go rarely. Beyond the fault of management lies the owner. That's where service expectations need to be set. But the place always seems full so Mr. Owner must have concluded 'the he'll with bothering.'

The food at Wildflowers is most definitely tasty. Especially the pizzas (I had Ken's special pie) and anything fried- like the crispy-crunchy broccoli bites. Mmm!

BUT- Our service today was HORRIBLE- and I am not that picky because I used to wait tables back in the day so I am pretty understanding.

Our server was a young guy who just came up to the table and made some type of groan/moan sound. I decided to tell him I wanted a diet coke to break the awkwardness. He never actually said much the whole time and never really came near our table. When I finally did call him over, he had to hide his phone because he was texting. LOL! Then as soon as he walked away, he started texting again and went to go sit down and watch whatever game was on.

You will be happy if you have low standards for service though!!!

I was going to save my 100th review for something...........monumental, but I decided that my experience at Wildflowers deserved it more.

I've been going to Wildflowers since I was a kid -- I remember drinking Shirley Temples with my dad and pizza after basketball games on Saturdays. My family meets here a lot since it's midway between everyone's houses, but this last experience was the best yet.

We only had 5 people, but had a nice semi-private area (only one other table nearby) so we could all catch up (I don't get down to see the fam too often anymore thanks to work). Our waiter, Colby, was very attentive and patient with us -- my uncle is, ahem, a big eater so he had a HUGE order with lots of special requests, but nothing seemed to frustrate or annoy Colby. He kept our drinks full and dirty plates off the table, without us ever having to ask. 5 stars for his service alone :)

The food...............wow, the food. I usually get pizza there, but this time decided to try something different. I opted for the Lobster Bisque soup and a ceasar salad with chicken (knowing I was going to wind up trying everyone else's dishes, as we all love to share!)

Lobster Bisque was PERFECT! I've had it at many places, and majority of the time it's either too salty, or tastes like cream and fake seafood (ick). Great consistency, flavorful and filling. Normally I wouldn't order it (because most places screw it up so bad), but i'm so glad I did.

Caesar salad was so good -- no wilty lettuce, no ingredients that didn't belong, dressing on the side (maybe it's just my preference, but I hate when places put dressing on for you, it's always too much or too little). Chicken was nicely seasoned and grilled, and they obviously put it on the salad right before serving it so that the lettuce didn't get warmed and wilted (that might be my biggest pet peeve with those types of salads, i hate getting a warm mushy salad EWWWWWWWWW). The dressing was great too -- obviously homemade and fresh, perfect balance of flavors.

I also tried some of my uncle's cheese dip (i forget the name thats on the menu) -- it's a VERY heavy gorgonzola cheese dip, served with garlic bread for dipping. Let me just tell you -- this is the definition of delicious. If i didn't think i'd gain about 100 lbs, i would have eaten the whole thing!

My aunts shared a margarita pie (which looked amazing but I was stuffed), and said it was fantastic. My uncle had an assortment of things -- all of which he said were great!

Wildflowers has a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The service is always great, and the food is awesome :)

The food here is amazing! I love the Gorgonzola bacon cheese fries, the penne vodka with prosciutto, the salads, and especially the french onion soup. They once had this amazing spicy corn chowder, but I haven't seen it since.

Not a great place to watch a game - I couldn't find any room at the bar, and there weren't many TVs (and definitely no volume) in the other dining areas. Service can be slow, but the food makes up for it. It's a warm, homey atmosphere, and a great place for a casual dinner out. It can be a bit busy, so if you go at dinner time on a weekend, be prepared for a wait.

The food here is great so it's a shame the chef can't cook the food and serve it too. Wait staff gaggles around the hostess stand which makes you crazy when trying to get a drink, place an order or get your check. We had the same experience about six months ago and we chalked it up to a bad night...now we know it's the norm.

It's a good thing there are plenty of restaurants in the area with both good food and excellent service. We will go elsewhere from now on.

Food and bar are great comfort food. This is a true corner tavern. The funniest things about this place is the men's bathroom in which the urinals too high and the owner must have been pursaded to buy 3 soap dispensers/hand sanitizers for 1 sink. It makes for a great picture of strange

Food is great but the service is more horrible than the food is good.

The reason that I thought to put a review is that at the restaurant they ask you to - there is is sign on the wall to rate them on Yelp.

Where can I put a sign asking them to improve their service?

The waiters are hard to track down for important things like placing your order, getting drink refills getting the check, and so on.

It's a shame because this place has potential.

I'm giving this place three starts based on the food. Their pizzas are always fabulous, and its a cheap night out for a couple beers and to split a pizza. I've been going here for forever, and back when I ate meat I used to really like the chicken croissant sandwich, the chicken was always really tender, and the wings are awesome. HOWEVER...the service leaves a whole lot to desire. A whole lot. Usually, the better service comes from the bartenders, but as far as the servers are concerned, in the 10 years I've been frequenting this place - sometimes very frequent because its so close - I don't think I've ever had a good server. They seem to just forget about you once they take your order. So, if you can get over that, its a good laid back option and one of the only options with a bar in Pennington.

Best boneless wings (prefer them to the over-rated Chuck's), great bar pie, fresh salads, tasty antipasto, huge bar.. with an owner that frequents the restaurant and has an attention to detail.

Music on Monday evenings (not football season).

What's not to like?

Service can be slow, I tend to be patient and not mind when I take into account the number of people a single waiter / watiress is serving, having worked in the business.

The bartenders take care of the locals first for a reason ~ they are the bread and butter and part of the reason the locals come back and become regulars.

Great place for families, servers make sure to take care of both the parents' and children's needs.

I love the place.

i really want to like wilfdlowers as i was a huge fan of the dive that preceded it- the wayside inn (aka the sideways) they had great pizza and pitchers.

i guess wildflowers is a good place to bring the kids. the seating is wooden tables, wooden chairs, wooden booths with wooden benches and pretty bullet proof. i can't seem to get comfortable there.

i don't think the food is very good, but what will the kids know?

as far as i'm concerned, wildflowers has gone to seed.

If you want to see true Pennington-ites, rather than the yuppie/soccer moms who appear to dominate the town, stop by Wildflowers. But don't say I didn't warn you.

Despite the locals who are glued to the stools, and the inattentive and slow bartenders, Wildflowers serves up some decent food. Their bar pies are tasty, as are a few of the salads such as Ken's and Kelly's, and the wings. It's pretty much the only place to get food in the area after 9, though they tend to lock their doors between 11 and 12. Even on the weekends.

Located on Rt. 31 off the Pennington circle, Wildflowers is your typical local bar. It's a bit too clean, a bit too bright, and the food is a bit too good to be considered a true dive, but it certainly gives off a casual, laid-back atmosphere.

Nice flat screen TV's around the bar to watch the game while you're drinking some beer and eating some food. The food is decent, but not great. I usually order Ken's Salad or I just pick at someone else's bar pie or fried appetizer.

Good place to hang out with friends during the week, especially if there's a good game to watch. Not a whole lot of parking, so park in the small strip mall next door if there's nothing left in the lot.

Always crowded -- and for good reason; Wildflowers is an above-average eatery. A wide variety of pizzas and excellent soups (especially the lobster bisque) are the highlights. Other appetizers, sandwiches, and main courses are so-so.

Sit at the bar if you want quick service; otherwise, you may be waiting...and waiting for a long time!

Oh...and if you can't find a parking spot (they're usually all taken), look next door for additional accomodations.

Wildflowers Inn is located on Route 31 off of the Pennington circle.

Wildflowers is popular among the Pennington locals, especially local government officials. It is often crowded, and the service in the dining areas is always extremely slow.

If you'd like to try some of their delicious food options (and there are a few), make sure you dine at the bar or around the bar area. If you're in a hurry, go someplace else.
