  Yeah, yeah, the name is a misnomer. But if you want creative cocktails or the usual fare of beer, then you can't go wrong. My favorite is Touch My Peaches (Peach Schnapps with Champagne), but I recently had an orange version of the drink that was almost as delicious. We love to sit on the patio out front and just relax.

  The Winery is a bit of a misnomer.  This place should change its name to the Bud Light-ery.   Sure, if I had just turned 21, I might be impressed by the stacked stone accents and racks of wine.  However, one would expect a place called The Winery to have a touch of class that doesn't exist in other downtown bars.  Not so.  Service is mediocre.  Drinks are nothing special.  Loud and crowded just like other Broad Street bars.

  The name is deceptive. If you want wine in downtown Athens, I suggest the bar at the National (something a little less stuffy - Farm 255, Trappeze, or even RPM). So not the best selection of wines in Athens, but for decent prices you can get an acceptable glass. The Winery does have nice drink specials as a whole, and they treat the regulars well.
  
  The staff are efficient and keep a great attitude. I also enjoy that the clientele aren't overwhelmingly greek or townie or pretentious indie. The Winery keeps a laid back and tasteful atmosphere. Its crowded without being claustrophobic.

  NOT a winery, by any means.
  
  It is, however, a great place to get a cocktail in a less party hard atmosphere than say....Classic City. The paradise martini is my personal favorite, and they often have a "martini of the night" for you to try. A few decent wine picks as well.
  
  The bartenders here are the real draw, they've got great personalities and will serve your drinks well. Be prepared for a crowd - lots of people have this on their "must go to" list for Downtown.
