Gathered up my kids and went down for a weeknight dinner. The booths have TV's which the kids thought was cool, except you can't change the channel, Â and Phineas & Ferp wasn't on. I ordered the wings because I don't have a deep fryer at home, so it's my go to bar food. The menu claimed "giant wings, over a pound" I didn't have a scale but they looked average size (see photo) and there were only 8 of them. I ordered em hot, but they were pretty mild. The kids got chicken fingers and nachos and they were standard bar fare. My only other beef other than wing quantity, is the gross Jack in the box style fries with the fake crispy coating, so they stay crunchy when they're luke warm.
Review Source:This bar & grill doesn't look like much from the outside but is updated and clean on the inside. Â I have wanted to stop into this joint for a while now, but rarely make it down to that part of the Mccarran loop. We stopped in for dinner and a beer during a NFL playoff game and it was a great experience. Â HD TV's line the bar, so wherever you sit you can see the game. Â There are also tv's in each booth, which is a pretty cool idea. Â They had a good beer offering, and full bar.
The best part though was the food. Â It is nicer than normal bar food, and has more variety. Â My wife had a taco salad and I had the California burger with a side salad. Â Both came out quickly, were full of flavor and really fresh tasting. Â I couldn't get over how green and un-wilted the lettuce in the salads were. Â
Overall, this place was a welcome surprise and definitely a place to check out.
Always looking for new and intersting places to try. Was craving an Ahi sandwhich, this is one of the few places in Reno that advertises them. Had the nachos and the pollenta cake for appetizers. Nachos were really yummy and a huge serving, they dont charge extra for guac which was nice. The pollenta wasnt bad but I wouldnt order again. The Ahi sandwhich was very good. Great flavor and cooked just right. Boyfriend got the western cheese burger and loved it as well. I see lots of complaints about service, we sat at a booth around dinner time and our waitress was great! Only complaint is my vodka cranberry was weak... I will be back but I wont spend money on drinks!
Review Source:Super delicious bar food and a a great atmosphere await at Woody's! Â We decided to try something new tonight, and while Woody's is off our beaten path, it was well worth the trip. Â The ambiance is great, it's clean and bright, there are TV's at every booth, and the place just has a cool vibe, if you need that for your dining experience (it just so happens that I usually do). Â
Our server was friendly and composed, even though she was extremely busy. Â She made sure to acknowledge us and let us know she'd be right with us. Â When she did get to us, she apologized for the wait and thanked us for our patience. Â That's all I'm asking for. Â I'm happy to sit and chat with my dining partners while we wait. Â She didn't have the crazed look either, she took it all in stride (by the way, I worked as a server for 4 hours once in college, and I'd have the crazed look every shift if I had to do that for a living, so I commend the composure). Â
The food was outstanding, clearly the chef is concerned about serving more than average bar food grub. Â I had the tri-tip French dip with sauteed onions. Â I don't know why I love French dip sandwiches so much, they almost always disappoint with stale bread and grisly, tough meat, but Woody's now sets the bar for my French dips. Â Perfectly cooked tri-tip, succulent and tender, flavorful, not a whisper of gristle. Â The bread was also fresh, and the au jus just the right amount of beefy, salty goodness. Â My husband had the chicken taco salad and relished every bite. Â Oh, I almost forgot to mention - order the homemade chips - crisp and salty. Â Mmmmm. Â
I'm glad we found a chill bar that serves great food to watch games.
I'm surprised to give this place 4 stars. From the outside (and name of the place) I thought this place was another Bully's. Poor food, poor service. I was wrong.
I've been here a couple times for lunch and the place is always packed. Although they do have TV's, it's more upscale than I thought.
Food - I had the Seared Ahi Salad. The taste was very good, not fishy. The menu selection was actually quite nice and had some vegetarian options.
Ambiance - decent ambiance. Think of this place as an upscale sports bar.
Service - quick food service and happy servers.
Overall I'd recommend and come back!
Visited on Sunday 10/28/12. Usually visit weekdays for lunch and thought I would go for a Sunday lunch. Food was very good. Service lacking today. Could not get a 2nd beer and no refills for the table at all. Had to get up to get extra napkins and had to ask for the check. The polenta cake is great and something to try when you go.
Review Source:My husband and I came in for here for lunch today, as my husband has been wanting to eat here for a while. We were in a hurry, and when we pulled into the parking lot it was packed. We almost left, but decided to go in anyway and see how crowded it was. It was very busy, but we decided to stay and give it a shot. We were pleasently surprised with the atmosphere. I figured it was some dumpy bar, but it was quite the contrary. The busser and waitress were lightening fast and very polite. We had our drinks right away, our order was taken right away, and our food came out just the way we ordered it. My husband and I split a sandwich, and they even brought it out on two seperate plates with a generous serving of DELICIOUS fries for both of us. I was very impressed overall. It seems you can't find a decent place to eat anymore with good food and good service, but Woody's has both! I assumed when we received the bill that they would have charged us for the split plate and the ranch we ordered with our fries, but to my surprise they didn't. That meant a bigger tip for our waitress, and the promise that we will be back again. Hopefully sooner than later. Thanks Woody's!!
Review Source:This place is one of my few choices for a quick take out lunch near my work. Basic sports bar grub. I just finished a huge Western Bacon burger. Very tasty! Thick patty, juicy, good toppings, great bun. I especially liked that it stayed together, and didn't end up a pile of squished tomato and wet bread. They also do a pretty good club sandwich.
Plus, it's fun to say "Woody's." (Shut up Beavis, don't make me smack you.)
I love Woody's. My husband and I eat here for lunch a LOT. I almost always order the Devil's Chicken sandwich with fries - because it's delicious! When we walk in, they know our order, get our drinks right away and the food is to our table FAST. And it's good. Love, love, love it at Woody's.
Review Source:Dani ran this whole joint on her own.
She managed to get every order right, make sure to upsell properly, and keep everyones glass full, table (or bar area) clean, and gaming cards filled up to where they needed to be.
The burger was fucking amazing (I scarfed it down like I hadnt eaten in days) and trust me I'm picky with my burgers.
My "30 min. stop here" turned to three hours of making acquaintanceship with five diff patrons (all of whom came back over and over just cuz of the tall hottie Dani.)
Please count me in over and over while I'm in this area.
I have tried this place many times, and the service is horrible EVERY time. Â I was in the other night and the bartender walks around the bar like a Princess, (which shes not). Â Then she just started closing the bar down without a last call. Â That would be semi ok if there were one or two people, but there were about 10.
Another time I was waiting for a drink at the bar, and the bartender just decides to go outside and smoke for 10 minutes, leaving a semi full bar and patrons waiting. Â
The first time I ate there when they first opened, I ordered chicken wings and had so send them back because they tasted rotten and old. Â I tried them again about 9 months later and the food was ok, but service sucked as usual.
There are better places to eat and drink around this area, I would avoid this place.
I have tried to give this place a chance several times but won't be going back. The first time I went in was okay and I received a stamp card for a free beer and the bartender was friendly but he was cocky and arrogant. The second time I went in I wanted to play a little Keno and left shortly after finding out I had to spend an entire $20 in the machine per beer. I have played Keno in several sports bars around town and have not had to pay for a beer while playing a machine. The third time I went in to watch a UFC fight and while it's great that they don't charge a cover for the fights, they attract some pretty sketchy people in not doing so. My fourth and final experience is the worst by far. Thought this would be a great location to have a birthday party for my husband and so I went in to talk to the manager or owner, Joe. He gave me a ridiculous price to have the party there and didn't even want to give us soft drinks for the kids at no charge. When I called the next day to talk about our guest list shrinking he said he would now have to talk to his chef to see about still giving us the price he quoted per head and get back to me. Do I have to tell you that I didn't get a returned call?
This is no way to do business and I am sure this place won't be open much longer.
Our family rolled into woodys for a Motosource supercross party and the place was great. Bar food with an upscale twist of sorts. Real beer battered onion rings rather than from a bag. Good salads with a spin and burgers with real patties rather than mcdonalds style pseudo meat.
Lots of tvs everywhere and a nice staff who made sure we all were taken care of even if the place was stacked and busy.
I'm going back hungry so we can sample more stuff...
We tried this place at 8:30 on a weeknight and were happy to have the server assure us we could still get dinner. I usually avoid this type of place because I hate loud TVs, but here they have the small TV in each booth with not-too-loud classic rock playing overhead, which was quite bearable.
We ordered the tri tip sandwich special ($10) and fish and chips ($11-12). The service was great, and the food was good. However, we thought the food was a little overpriced.
My co-workers and I are always looking for a fun spot for Friday night happy hour. Â We came here last Friday to check out the new spot. Â The beer was cheap, the chips and salsa were fabulous and a few people ordered some food. Â We were able to play some shuffleboard and not break our bank accounts. Â The owner, Rick, came out and introduced himself to me while I was selecting songs on the jukebox. Â I was impressed he took the time to do so, ask about our experience and see what he could do better. Â A fun spot to hang out nad have some food and a few drinks
Review Source:I finally got the chance to enjoy the wonderful food that Woody's has to offer. I went in for lunch the other day and sat at the bar. I was immediately greeted by the female bartender, Yvette. She was very friendly and courteous.
I ordered the bacon cheddar burger with fries. The burger came out extremely quick and was grilled perfectly. The bun was lightly toasted, the burger juicy and delicious, the perfect amount of cheese, and three slices of bacon. The presentation was spot on and the fries were excellent! I will be back to Woody's for the great service I received and the great food.
This is a bar and grill that opened about a month ago. My experience with the bar was to look at the beers available. The usual suspects. Nothing I wanted to try. They do have Blue Moon on tap.
For food I got the breaded mushrooms appetizer and spaghetti and meatballs. The breaded mushrooms were disappointing. It's one of my favorite appetizers but the dough was too thick and the mushrooms lacked flavor. It comes with fries and they were actually better. Another minor complaint: The ranch dressing was too runny.
The spaghetti was good, the meatballs were excellent. It's worth the extra $3 for the meatballs. Nice spice and good beef flavor. It doesn't taste like it was stuffed with bread crumbs as filler. I'd definitely get the spaghetti again.
One nice feature is that they've got TV screens at each booth. This could be a fun place for something like the Super Bowl.
