If you enjoy exploring the diverse flavor possibilities of beer, World of Beer is a brilliantly executed local chain. They have over 50 mostly craft beers on tap, all of decent to fantastic quality. The draft selection changes weekly, and they have hundreds of different selections available by the bottle.
Prices are not inexpensive. They have a mobile app to help you track which beers you've tried and discover what you'd like to try next if you are a member of their loyalty club.
The Altamonte location is a simple and somewhat boring layout, but they have the best service. Servers here are not just bartenders or wait staff, they are sommeliers of hops and malt. Jesse and Alyssa at Altamonte are particularly awesome at recommending new beers based on what you have enjoyed in the past.
Pee-yew!!! Â My visit here last night was ruined by the constant flow of cigarette smoke into the establishment from their outdoor seating area. Â Their outdoor area is connected to the indoor area by a large window that can be open during nice weather, which is most of the time in FL, which means I will not be back until smoking is banned from public areas. Â
Beer, prices for beer, and service were A-okay.
Similar to other World of Beer locations that I have visited, although maybe a little smaller. Prices are about the same and obviously they have a pretty good selection. I would like to see them get in more local beers and seasonal beers as they seem to always just have a few at each WOB. When a new beer comes out, don't expect to find it at WOB until a few weeks later, if they get it at all. That being said they have plenty of varieties and it's easy to find something good. Service is good to above average and prices are decent (about $5 or $6 per beer for most choices). All in all, it's your standard World of Beer, but it's good that they have a craft beer bar in Altamonte now, as there are not many bars like this around here.
Review Source:We came here for the Pumpkinfest, so we could try the new seasonal beers and watch some football. We ordered flights and the waitress seemed confused as to which beer was which. We asked her several times and got different answers. We ordered pints after the flight and got the wrong beer, so who knows what we liked and didn't like. Why bother with the flights.
We ordered pizza from Tuscan pizza next door and it was good, but the owner of the pizza place was chilling at the bar and scoping out people who ordered his pizza. He followed my friend into the can to ask him how he enjoyed the pizza. Dude, that customer service was way to personal.
World of Beer Altamonte is located off 436 in Altamonte Springs, in the Cranes Roost complex. Hubby and I popped in here with friends to enjoy the FB advertised Pumpkinfest with 10+Pumpkin beers on tap and watch some college football.
We were lucky enough to grab a table, as it was super crowded with college football viewers. The staff was nice and let us order flights of pumpkin beers, for a slight upcharge from their normal flight price. Sadly, the order of the beers was never clearly/accurately communicated for any of us, so when we went to order a followup pint, the incorrect beers were received. Beers went back and we tried again. Really, if you are serving flights of anything, there should be some type of identifier so the customer can accurately identify what they like and don't like.
Service was OK, there should have been atleast one more person working to handle the steady business. Had to wait to order refills and get our check. We were not impressed with the bartenders ability on Guinness pours. My friends hubby was shorted about 2 oz of his 1/2 and 1/2 (Or 1/2 of the Guinness) since the Guinness had not settled at the bar. We ordered pizza from Tuscan pizza next door and it was tasty. TV's were plentiful and easy to watch from anywhere inside or outside.
They have a wide variety of beers which was perfect for my husband.
He tried 3 different beers while I was still on my 1 beer that was really light and kind of tasted like water.
They had a good amount of t.v.s but weren't playing any of the games we wanted to watch (The Giants game and the Braves game).
We asked the waitress to put it on the Braves game and I think she forgot because it never did go on the t.v. or they didn't have it and she didn't mention to tell us that they didn't get that channel.
Although they don't serve food here, they said that you bring some in or order and have it delivered and eat it there.
Unfortunately they don't have any where we live.
My first time here was this past Sunday after my friends and I saw The Dark Knight Rises at the AMC theatre in Altamonte Springs. I received pretty much the same impression from it as I did the locations in Lake Mary/Heathrow and in Dr. Phillips. I like all of the WoB locations to which I'd been in the past and this one definitely is on the same wavelength as the others.
The selection of beer here is (I'm assuming) very similar, if not identical, to that at the other locations. My friend and I each had two Applehead beers, which were very reasonably priced at (I think) $3 apiece. Our server was very cool and friendly. She told us a story about a WoB Loyalty Club member who recently had either his 500th or 600th beer at this location not too long ago. That's some dedication! (Especially seeing as how this location opened, per our server, in March 2012.) Perhaps it was his 500th or 600th beer with WoB, regardless of location. I don't know! Still, that's pretty cool. (I think?) I'd sign up for the Loyalty Club, myself, but I'm not sure that I'd be coming to any WoB locations often enough to make it totally worth my time. I'm not saying that I wouldn't like to be at them ... I just don't go often enough since I like other places, as well. We'll see. As long as the Loyalty Club is free to sign up for, I might as well!
I hope to be back to this location or to any of the other ones soon. I wonder how things will be here once football season begins. Beer and football definitely do mix ...
Have been wanting to come here for some time, it just hadn't happened until last night when I decided that we should go on our way home from dinner. Â WOW, WOW and WOW!! Â
Killer beer selection and an amazing amount of great beers on tap!! Â And the prices were very reasonable also. Â The place was busy with basically standing room only. Â The staff was great! Â The people were friendly and we just had a blast. Â Love the fact that you can bring your dog. Â Even though they don't serve food, they don't allow smoking inside. Â I kind of liked that fact. Â Even with all the people, the place was clean, even the bathrooms. Â
Several tables ordered food from Red Brick Pizza next door. Â Obviously WOB is helping their business. Â But I like this fact and said that we'll have to do that sometime ourselves. Â
Great place and atmosphere!!! Â They also had a duo playing which added a nice air to the place. Â
Will be back very soon!!
I really didn't want to like this place. Â I'm a Redlight Redlight kinda girl. Â I don't like anything commercial when it comes to beer. Â Turns out that WoB doesn't either. Â They offer a very good selection of great beer with outstanding service. Â They don't offer food, but they welcome any outside food you want to bring in. Â There are a lot of restaurants you can order food from nearby, so it's easy to just sit down with a meal and have a great beer.
Their prices are reasonable, and they have happy hour ($1 off drafts) from open-7 pm. Â Outside seating is awesome, with TV's positioned in all corners so you don't have to suffer without sports just because you want to enjoy the great weather.
I like the rotating drafts and the very extensive beer lists, and they offer wine for "non-beer-drinkers" but I guarantee that anyone who swears they don't like beer can find something they like here!
Who would have thought a place with no food and only beers would be a total Cougar Town?! Â I guess I should have known....it's Altamonte for peets sake. The University Blvd World of Beer makes me feel old, this one makes me feel sexy. That, or it's the seven 9% abv beers I've been downing. Â Even some of the more "seasoned" cougars are starting to look pretty damn good! Â Oh, check out that one! Â Not bad from behind, a real comforting motherly quality. Oh shit! It IS my mom! Â Mom, what the hell you doing at WOB?! Oh thats right. Its Altamonte. Â At least she'll be willing to buy you the next round, because you always will be her special little champ. Â Thanks Mom! Â Cheers!
Review Source:Went to this one specifically to get crawfish on Sat. and I must give props where props are due, the crawfish were realllllyyy good!! They gave you plenty on the plate and you were allowed to keep coming back, A+ in my book!
I had Abita beer so of course I knew what I was getting, the beer was great! Nice and cold! The waitress couldn't have been nicer. I had my son and his friend with me and they each got a bottled Root Beer, so they thought that was pretty cool!
Compared to Lake Mary WOB on Sunday, Altamonte hit it out of the park and made this CAJUN GIRL happy as happy can be!!
Rely like this new location! Not as big or busy as lake Mary which allows a patron to actually get a seat which makes it even better! Only thing I noticed was the live entertainment was nowhere near as good as the dr philips or Heathrow locations. Â Also the open air concept allows smokers from outside to impact patrons sitting inside thus 4 of 5...
Review Source:This particular world of beer has a nice outside patio. The staff at any world of beer is generally social, knowledgeable and entertaining. This location is not as big as the Lake Mary location, but definitely not as small as the UCF location. The crowd is rather low key and a little bit older.
Review Source:I like World of Beer. Â its a decent chain that can expose to a new experience with brews.
We joined some friends this past Saturday and being this was a new location, it was very busy.  Wall to wall people.  They had live music, which some didn't like.  I didn't care for them either. Seemed like more people were happy to hear "ok, we're turning the juke box back on".  but, whatever, the place was still enjoyable.
We sat outside at a couple tables.  They seemed very flimsy, so hopefully someone can spot this nightmare thats about to happen.  With so many beers, served in various type glasses, you can see the pending disaster.
Service was great with all the chaos going on.
I understand that WoB doesn't serve food and that allows for smokers, but I wish they would reconsider that.  I just prefer to enjoy my beer and conversations without smoke in my face, even out on the patio area.
My fiance and I went here about a week ago and had a fabulous night out. Â They have 500 beers to choose from. Also you can order cigars and smoke them on the outside patio. Â We sat at the bar though and listened to the live music. Â We went on a Friday night and there were just the perfect amount of ppl. Â We will definitely be back!
Review Source:I watched and waited and then hit the new WOB in Altamonte during their Leap Year Grand Opening ... let me just say that I was NOT the only one. It was standing room only!!
The staff was on the ball, racing around and taking care of business. Although I was originally served by a particular bartender, there was always someone walking by to see if we needed anything. They were more than happy to share their recommendations and offer samples of the various drafts too.
As I sat at the bar, in front of the glass-front refrigerator with the bottled drinks display I was overwhelmed at the number of options ... I don't even drink beer, but I counted 23 ciders to choose from ... AMAZING!!! I was thrilled.
The place was insanely loud and it was hard to walk around because there were so many people present at the Grand Opening, but it was fun to chat with peeps and try the various flavors.
Positive: Â Lots of choices, Lots of Parking, Friendly Staff, Open til 2am, a new bar in Uptown Altamonte, Denny's is next door if you want the "after clubbing meal", Outdoor patio, Live music
Downer: Â No food, but they allow you to have it delivered and even provide you a list of the nearby restaurants.
Bonus: Â One Sunday month there are Customer Appreciation Cookouts
