A wonderful find in Waimea!!
After seeing the sunset at Polihale Beach, we wanted a nice dinner.
We found Wranglers Steakhouse and we were pleasantly surprised!
The western atmosphere was great! We sat out on the front porch and had one of
the best dinners we've had so far - The rib-eye steaks were a hardy portion and cooked to perfection, they came with soup (corn chowder) & salad (Papaya Seed Dressing), and mashed potato or rice and a vegetable. Yummy! Our daughter had the Japanese Tempura plate and she loved it! And sometimes she can be quite picky!!
So, if your on the westside of the island and looking for a nice place to eat, try Wranglers. I don't think you'll be disappointed!!
How have I been here like 7x over the years and never reviewed them? Â Wranglers can be hit or miss sometimes but we've had more hits than misses. Â The Wrangler burger is always our meal of choice and there's a trick to it. Â If you typically order well done, you'll get a briquette. Â If you order medium well, you'll get dry. Â If you order medium, you'll get a juicy well done. Â I haven't dared ordered under that but go for it if you need some pink in there. Â Homemade soups are always good. Â The salad patch is pretty good (calling it a "bar" would be a little generous.) Â The staff is always nice and keeps the refills coming. Â There are some great items in the shop too so don't forget to stop in there before paying.
Review Source:I really like this place! Â Came here for lunch on a trip to Kauai six years ago, and came back for dinner now that we live in the islands.
Last time, I had the Kau Kau Tin for lunch and LOVED it. Â A vintage stacked lunch tin with teri beef (like meat CANDY), rice, and tempura shrimp: charming. They don't offer it at dinner, but they did have a Japanese Tempura platter which is essentially identical, if horizontal. Â Teri beef, rice, tempura shrimp, eggplant, and shrimp, and ahi sashimi. Â Plus the salad bar and soup (clam chowder). Â Salad bar had edamame, cold pasta, lettuce, celery, and the most flavorful tomatoes I've tasted in a long time. Â Husband had the special garlic steak (so much garlic, we'll be vampire-free for weeks) that was HUGE.
Outdoor dining on the front porch and in the garden out back. Â Super-friendly service. Â Paniolo vibe that's not over-the-top. Â Great prices, and an awesome choice if you're out on the west side at Waimea Canyon or Polihale for the day.
