My husband and I visited this restaurant a couple months ago and thought the food was great. We are planning a return visit and trying to get some info on their menu and drink specials but their website has no information and they do not have a Facebook page. Tried calling this morning and no answer.

My husband and I went on Saturday night for an early dinner. We weren't sure we were going to get drinks, but glad we did. The margaritas are so worth it. Â He loved the salsa with the chips, you could smell the fresh cilantro. It was thin, but I like that so I can dodge any chunks of onion. We had the queso, and the poblano drizzle on top is a nice touch. I ordered a typical dinner of enchiladas, and he ordered one of the specials of the night; a duck breast seared and served with a mole and dirty rice. Wow! He was so glad he stepped out the box. He had never heard of mole, and I have had it before and not been thrilled - this was really delicious.
It's nice that a chef has a chance to do things not expected. We are happy to have someplace near home that has friendly servers and satisfying food.
It's nice to have some Mexican close to Brockport, but I wish it were a little tastier. Â I will say that the house margarita is amazing - no need to get fancypants tequila in it. The chips were quite good (and gluten free!) but the house salsa is very, very bland. Â
We all ordered enchiladas with rice and beans. It's nice that they have a veggie (mostly zucchini) option, but both the red and green sauces were mediocre and way too sweet. Â The rice and beans were fine, but nothing to get excited about.
The inside decor is very well done - nice, bright colors and furniture that could be in a fine dining establishment in the city. Â there's even a seating area in the bar with comfy leather couches.
I'll try again and hope that there are some better tasting entrees on the menu.
My girlfriend and I were eager to try this place out, as it had been a while since we went out for Mexican. Â We liked the atmosphere, and the staff was friendly right off the bat. Â The salsa was very good (could have had a little more heat), but the waitress (who btw is very good at her job of upselling) gave us some terrible queso that tasted like it came out of the jar. Â She failed to mention that it was $6 (we had yet to open our menu), and that was kind of a bummer (more or less because it was horrible queso). Â The meal more than made up for that though. Â My girlfriend had a chicken burrito, which I had a few bites of and it was delicious. Â I had the pork verde, and it was OFF THE CHAIN. Â The rice and beans were decent, but portion-wise the plate could have been bigger for the price. Â All-in-all, $12 a plate at a decent restaurant like this isn't bad at all - but $3 pops? Â C'mon, man!! Â I really loved the meal and I am sure that I will be back soon, but it would be a good idea to train your (great) staff on giving prices for specials and lower the price of your freakin' soda and (terrible) queso.
Review Source:I went here for breakfast with my boyfriend, and we had an awesome breakfast. Â We raved about it for months and finally went back for dinner with his parents. Â
I got the carne asada tacos, my boyfriend and his father got the chimichangas and his mom got the quesadilla. Â Everything was beyond great! I am used to the same old Mexican places we have around town, but this is nothing like it. Â I have also been to La Casa, which is supposed to be the best authentic mexican restaurant around and Wylie Chayote's blows it out of the water. Â
The queso was by far the best queso I have had in a while. Â I hate when you order Queso and this tick film forms on top form the cheese crusting over...it's gross, but this did not do that at all. Â It had great seasoning and it was thick and creamy..very delicious!
My tacos were great...I do, however, like tacos that have some toppings on them (i'm sure that is not authentic mexican, but I like it). Â The carne asada came with caramelized onions and some herbs...it was great, but I wish there was a bit more to them. Â After seeing the chimichanga across the table from me, realllllly made me wish I would have gotten that. Â My boyfriend and his father said it was great. Â I will be getting that next time. Â It was huge and it just looked like it was perfectly cooked. Â
We also ordered the margaritas. Â I know I have been saying, "best ever," a lot in this review, but seriously, hands down, best ever margaritas I have had. Â They come with fresh squeeze lime juice, agave nectar and really great tequila. Â We had TWO PITCHERS, yes that is right, two pitchers between the 4 of us! We were feeling pretty good after two glasses, but we said "Keep Em Coming!" Â I am going to warn you, a pitcher of margaritas is $45, but there is about 5 or 6 good size glasses in the one pitcher and the tequila they use is really good! It was well worth every penny!
I judge a Mexican place by the rice and beans, hands down the best I've ever had, thank god the chef is smart enough not to put frozen vegetables in the perfect rice. I had the taco Carne asada which was fantastic, a perfect marinade chef! My girlfriend had the spicy shrimp over sweet potato grits, she's from the south, and loved every bite. The atmosphere was great. We both agreed the best margaritas we've ever had made fresh with hand squeezed limes. Can't wait to go back!
Review Source:Ok, now I understand the 5 - star review. Â He had breakfast!!!
There's a card on every table in the restaurant that tells you what a great restaurant 'Jerry' had that served breakfast. Â I came here for Mexican dinner.
First impression: Â The restaurant atmosphere was very nice. Â Separate bar area looked very nice.
Tables have vinyl table cloths - yuk.
The salsa was chopped up tomatoes and onions in water. Â Dipping the chips in it resulted in nothing but a 'wet' chip. Â And it had zero flavor. Â Very bland. Â I asked the waiter to look at the salsa that came with the chips. Â He made a joke and offered to replace it but he walked away. Â After asking twice more, he took it away, and brought a new bowl. Â Exactly the same. Â Nothing but water with 'more' tomatoes and onions.
I had the chicken tacos, wife had the beef tacos.
The rice was completely bland. Â No flavor at all. Â No chunks of anything... onions, peppers, tomatoes... just yellow-colored, bland, rice. Â Every fork full of rice left a nice liquid spot of grease on the plate.
The chicken had an 'orange/yellow colored' sauce - I've had tons of Mexican food but I've never tasted anything with that spice in it. Â I did not like it.
My wife's beef tacos were better - although they were dripping with water or grease too, just like the rice.
For drinks, I had a raspberry margarita that was the exact same color as 'Pepto bismal. Â It tasted ok, but the color was very strange.
Sorry, but this was not a good experience. Â Will not be back which is too bad. Â We visit Spencerport regularly.
Chef Jerry Manley (former owner of the Flour City Diner) applies his quality approach and skilled palate to Mexican ingredients.
I enjoyed the house cocktail, featuring Juarez Silver Tequila, with cane sugar simple syrup, a little orange juice, Triple Sec with real vanilla bean, and a slice of jalapeno! A delicious and beautifully balanced cocktail.
We tried the chorizo mac and cheese as a starter. Absolutely tasty, with a nice crunch from the green peppers, a creamy sauce, and pasta cooked just right.
The spicy shrimp on sweet potato grits was very nicely done. Perfectly grilled shellfish, with great flavor and texture on the grits.
At dessert, the tres leches we shared was plowed into by the family before I could make a picture. Once I tasted it, I understood their haste! Beautifully executed, cool and light, with a rich mouth feel -- and not too sweet!
Jerry said they're doing a Grand Opening on Saturday June 15, 2013. During dinner he's booked a fantastic mariachi band, three 70-year-old guys who can really play. He's also serving breakfast 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. featuring the favorites from Flour City Diner.
I like Chef Manley's food, and the drive out to Spencerport took less than 20 minutes. I'm holding back one star for now only because this was a single visit. I look forward to returning soon!
Had their fish tacos which were great. Found out they did Brunch Sat and Sun 8-2:00 and tried that out too.
They have the usual menu items. We tried the blueberry french toast and it was great. Omelets that came out look great.
We came for something mexican, and they do have a section. While didn't see juevos rancheros, the breakfast quesedilla made us forget about it. Loaded with eggs, peppers, onions, bacon, and a few jalepenos for kick served with sour cream and pico. Just what we were looking for.
