A great place just outside Geneseo that we visited with friends on Friday night!
The restaurant is broken up into several rooms and could accommodate large or small groups. Â It is very clean and the wait staff is very attentive. The atmosphere allowed for casual conversation without having to talk over anyone.
The prices were extremely reasonable for the outstanding quality and service you received. Â The menu had enough choices to satisfy everyone. Â Within our group the Salmon, pan-seared scallops, and veal parmesan were ordered. Â Everyone was very satisfied with their choice. Â I had ordered the veal, it was fresh, and very tender. Â It had just the right amount of sauce and pasta to accompany it.
It's a 45 minute drive from Rochester, but very close to Geneseo but well worth the trip.
If you're looking for a good steak in Geneseo, come to the Yard of Ale. Their fish and pasta dishes are also delicious. I haven't tried their chicken yet, but I'm sure it's great, too.
The waiters are friendly and the atmosphere is nice and cozy. It's even better when you actually see someone order a "yard of ale."
A nice FUN dining experience. Â We seem to go here at least once or twice a year, and there's always a race to see who can finish their "Yard of Ale" Â (a glass of beer 36" high, with a bulb at the bottom and a bell shape at the top) first. Â The food is always superb, though not anything out of this world, and not worth a long drive, and it's not a must try. Â But for the price, it is first rate and the type of place where you can take a largish group and everyone will be happy. Â I've never even heard of anyone being disappointed with anything about this place.
Review Source:A great place right outside Geneseo that I used to bring my family to every time they visited. Â Even though I haven't been in 4 years, the place still stands out in my head as being the go-to for a great meal. Â
The prices were extremely reasonable for the outstanding quality and service you received. Â Each time I went, I would get the prime rib. Â They cooked it to perfection. Â I also remember the sides being top-notch, especially once having bleu-cheese mashed potatoes. Â This place is a short drive, and worth the trip.
If you are in the Geneseo area, this place is DEFINITELY worth the drive. Â Us 3 girls sat at the bar on Saturday night, and loved the warm, friendly service. Â The wine? Â Is super-cheap. Â Yay! Â
I had the shrimp and artichoke pasta, since I love anything with lemon and garlic. Â It was delish.
My friend ordered shrimp cocktail. Â Those little shrimpies were HUGE.
We started with the duck rolls, they were flavorful and tasty. Â Then we had the French Onion soup. Â The sweetness of the caramelized onion was balanced by the right amount of salt. Â
My wife had the Statler Chicken. Â She loved the light, crisp skin that thw pan-fried chicken had. Â My veal was a bit less tender than I'd like, but had a good sauce. Â
The wine list was great. Â The best part about it was that there was almost no markup! Â We got a 2005 Stag's Leap Cab for $42. Â Our only rational conclusion is that the owner is providing a public service. Â Cheers to him!
The service was great and the atmosphere nice.
