Best Chinese food in Peoria, meaning it's the only Chinese food I can actually eat without getting sick. But for real, the food has a ton of flavor at a reasonable price and I like the Hong Kong noodles.

I've been going here since my brain could start processing memories. So, this is the Chinese food I base the quality of all other Chinese foods on.

Love the hot and sour soup, fried rice, General Tso's Chicken, Mongolian Beef...the food is good, not greasy. We usually order it sans MSG.

    The price is good also.

I see many people have complained about the service. Don't take it personally. She's very nice in her own way. She's been working there forever.

    All around thumbs up.

My husband and I order the wonton soup religously. However, I cannot have MSG and there are simply not enough items on their menu without it. Their prices are reasonable and portions large. There is also a very assertive waitress there that tends to intimidate us a little.

Came here on a Sunday night for take out. I just ordered shrimp fried rice. Unfortunately it was mostly rice. There was not more than 10 small shrimp in it. The flavor was not bad though. I probably would not go back.

Many reasons to enjoy only one to dislike.

Food: excellent. One of the better Chinese places by far. I love my food spicy, but I've found many restaurants will make my food mild tasting even when I ask for hot and spicy, however, this was by the case here.  I ordered the shrimp lo mein. Perfectly spicy, great tasting, plentiful large shrimp, and the portion was large enough for left overs. We also had the beef Yakatori skewers as an appetizer. Absolutely delicious and succulent. I love egg drop soup, but the soup tasted a little burnt, but it was near the end of the night.

Price: prices were more than fair. My boyfriend and I paid about 10 dollars for soup, appetizer, dinner.

Service: it seems that many reviewers love the service here. My boyfriend and I had a less enjoyable experience. Our waitress was quick but not always attentive to our needs. (my boyfriend's drink needed to be refilled for about 10 minutes) and out waitress seemed pretty pissed to be there it the first place. She asked pretty much point blank, "what do you want?". We felt a bit unwanted, but maybe she just had a bad day. It was 8:30 ish at night when we came in. (they close at 10).

Other than that... The food was better than most, prices were definitely right on, the only reason they didn't get five stars was because of the service. We plan to come again in the future. :)

I love chinese food and scared to eat at chinese restaurants and take out place. The food was decent but had MSG. I told the waiter "NO MSG, NO Agee no motto". for some reason she dint understand. Thats the usual problem with chinese restaurants. The service was quick and price was cheaper. We had dinner in under $15.00. Will not go back mainly because of MSG- unless i decide to kill my self.

heard a lot of great things about  this place, but not all that impressed. i had the sweet & sour pork & it was ok, but nothing special.  egg drop soup was fine. i'd go here again, but can't rave about it.

This restaurant has always been my favorite Chinese restaurant in Peoria.  Went there tonight for dinner and was totally disappointed.  The tea was barely warm when the pot was set down.  I ordered a chicken dish with BBQ sauce (I have had it before and loved it) -- but it tasted like it was cooked in a skillet that fish had been cooked in previously.  When I asked the waitress about the taste and the potential cooking confusion -- she blew me off.   I asked for the tea to be warmed up and it took over 15 minutes.

No longer a Yen Ching fan.  Maybe a victim of the economy and cutting corners, but I will not be back.

We have been here many times because the food is fantastic. We learned recently, however, that they do not understand what closing time means. When we called ahead to see if they were still serving lunch, we were told they closed at 2:30pm, so we went for lunch and arrived at 2pm. What closing at 2:30pm means to them is they turn the lights out at 2:30pm and rudely remind you throughout your meal that they close at 2:30pm. If they had said they stopped serving at 2pm, we would have gone somewhere else. i did not appreciate the bum's rush and normally would not return to a restaurant after being treated this way, but the food is THAT good. Just don't go for lunch after 2pm.

I absolutely love this place. One of the last bastions of the sit and dine Chinese restaurants of the past. In a world of take out only or buffet Chinese this place stands as it has for years. The food here is fantastic, with a wide array of choices.  Large family style portions and good service.
And as far as I am concerned the best Hong Kong noodle this side of the Great Wall. Do yourself a favor and go here to eat food.

My wife and I went here about a week ago for some afternoon Chinese.  Nice little place, but nothing different here.  I went here because of all the good reviews.  Hard to rate a restaraunt on only one visit, but we got the sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, General Chon's Chicken and Chicken Lo Mein (a little heavy on the chicken maybe?).  Nothing wrong with the food, but not real impressive either.  Everything had the same flavor so it really didn't stand out.  Personally, I hope that this isn't "The Best Chinese in Peoria" as another yelper quoted, but I haven't yet found a better place, so they might be right.  But that doesn't make it excellent either.

My family has been dining at Yen Ching for over 20 years. The faces have changed some over the years, but the food is still very good.
For years and years I always ordered the Mongolian beef and turned my husband onto it, but then discovered their chicken Lo Mein is very good, too. Recently a friend introduced me to their Szechuan string beans, which are great (they do include pork even though they are listed as a vegetable dish).
The lunch specials are very affordable and come with soup, egg roll or crab rangoon and rice.
I am also a big fan of their sizzling rice soup, and they serve "Exotic Polynesian cocktails". What's not to love about that??

    The BEST Chinese in Peoria!

My husband's family would go here often when he was growing up and now I love it too! They have amazingly cheap lunch specials ($5.50!!) that include soup, won ton or egg roll, tea, and the main dish. I love their chicken lo mein, mongolian beef, cashew chicken, chicken and broccoli...and the list goes on!!!

Their Sunday brunch is the best...their crab rangoon, green beans, and sliced potatoes are soo good. I love all their food really.

    Can't be beat!

The staff is SO friendly and make you feel right at home.

Great sit down restaurant.  The service is quick, but not too quick to think that the food is pre-made.  Everything I have had is always fresh and hot.

The food is very good.  It seems more traditional than a lot of the quick-serve Chinese restaurants in the area.

    Must tries include:

    hot tea
    egg drop soup
    moo-shu pork
    egg rolls

Very nice place for an affordable dinner.  I can also almost guarantee you will leave with leftovers!!!
