I drive by this location on a regular basis and never stopped as the revolving businesses just moved in, served bad food in a dirty location, and moved out a few months later. The only reason Yu Hong caught my eye is because my mind was in the gutter and I thought Yu Hong next to the Denver Swim Club was pretty funny. And a pretty funny review is a good thing. However, Â my joke turned out to be on me as Yu Hong has been redecorated and cleaned up. I was greeted by a friendly young woman who immediately took my order and chatted a bit while it was being prepared. I did not venture too far as I have a new standard for judging Chinese restaurants; I order Hot and Sour soup and if it is good, I go back. This hot and sour soup was good, flavorful broth and lots of stuff in it. It passed my test and now I am going back for more. And hopefully, Yu Hong will get another star from me. As a note to the adventuresome, they had a crock pot filled with marbled tea eggs which tells me some dishes are authentic Chinese.
Review Source:Was in mood for chinese since my co-worker brought in fried rice last night to work. Who did I go with? Well, I had a wonderful experience last time and I said I'd give this an update if I ordered here again. This time my boyfriend had chicken with vegetables, we both shared a combo fried rice, and me the schezuan beef (yep, got my beef this go around).
Pros:
The chicken was very good and the sauce was so good my boyfriend would order extra sauce next the just to put on the both the steam and fried rice. Vegetables were also a thumbs up. My beef was really good, but could have been spicier. Not a huge complaint because the beef wasn't soggy or overly cooked. And with the sauce I was expecting the veggies to be soggy. Again I was very surprised that all the veggies were crispy and the flavor stood out. The broccoli for example were medium sized florets and crunchy but not raw. The combo fried rice was oh so good. And since all the fried rices are $7.95, why not go for the combo with shrimp, chicken, and beef? One thing I was very impressed with, and very surprised, is the person taking my order remembered to use the call box to get into the building. That's a rarity for delivery places. Unfortunately somehow our name wasn't on the callbox, but you know what? The person who took my order was also the delivery person. Food was right on time, food was hot, and of course I gave him a good tip.
Cons:
Um, no fortune cookies? Don't have anything to put, and the cookies aren't a big deal for us. We have our own cookies lol.
Gave it another 4 stars because if the beef was spicier like the black peppered chicken it'd be perfect.
