I didn't try their food so my review is of the bar only. First off, I drive by this place all the time and didn't know it existed. 818 Lounge feels like you're in someones converted garage or den, which is a good thing in my opinion. It's a good, local hangout spot to meet up and have some drinks with a few friends. The drinks were very cheap and not watered down thankfully.
Best of all, I went on a Thursday night and they had a great female DJ spinning. Overall it made for a nice and chill night.
Writing a review for two reasons...
first, yelp filtered my first review because i didn't have any other reviews, but second and more importantly, i really miss this place and am craving the orange chicken quesadillas and kung pao tacos (even though i'm not much into fusion foods). Â
SUMMARY: great food, great happy hour deals, comfy couches, and great service (especially from the owners who care about their patrons and really go out of their way to prove it)

Be sure to hit join! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there!
The food is a unique fusion - part asian part latino - reminds me of Kogi only healthier and so damn delicious - the owner Eric was nice and told us the whole scoop about Tri-Athlon thursdays! Enough said because if I don't keep you in suspense, you will not be as compelled to check it out and man, if you don't, you're really missing out on a rare gem in the valley.
The place is slighly hard to find. When your Navigation tells you to turn left and then right, it realy means turn right on to an Alley next to New Moon bar and keep going about 100ft and park on the lot on the right hand side. Like that wasn't confusing enough but hey, keep searching, it's worth it haha! If not for any of the above, I can think of at least a couple of other reasons to check the place out ;)

Amazing food... Amazing drinks... I'm a vegetarian.. And the owner Eric.. Went out of his way to accommodate me. He made their famous kung pao tacos with tofu. Amazing!!!
They have their own parking lot... so parking is easy. Clean bathrooms... pool table and darts upstairs... televisions upstairs and downstairs... great food and drinks... fun lounge area downstairs.
The place is not too crowded during the week for the most part but is usually pretty packed on weekends.... And their bartenders are great as well... I recommend you go in on Tuesday's and Thursdays for Jake... This place is a hidden treasure in Montrose.
OMG
I don't even use OMG in my vocabulary either.
Fusion tacos,Orange chicken quasidillas.....
Watch out food network, you got jacked on some of the best recipes and food creations I have had in a long time.
So unique.
I think they have one of those gourmet food trucks now parked in there kitchen. Amazing.
late night kitchen on weekend.
The 2 story bar and lounge has been NICELY Remodeled. Very  comfortable.  Downstairs is perfect for large parties with kereokee and beautiful bar & Lounge with nice sofas.
Upstairs has a nice bar and pool table with sofas and chairs. Â I used to come here years ago and it was just OK, now I have a favorite upscale spot in Montrose.
The Owner and bartenders are very nice and were amazing to us the other night. Very fair prices, OK really cheap drinks and $5 gourmet appetizers. That gets me back even quicker. I really don't know why u would go to Pasadena or Hollywood when u have this amazing spot in our neighborhood. Â STop in and check it out. Tell them u read Scott's review. It might get u a free drink. Lol.
I don't use Lol either. I think I need a beer.....
This place is hard to find.. they need to put the sign up a little higher on top of the building or much bigger sign. We have to drive around 2 times to find this place.
Service is excellent, friendly, fast and helpful..
Decor is a little unique inside ~ kinda dark makes it a little hard to see the food.. they have color combination of black, silvery and grey.
fun ~ energetic people work there
The Manager is very sweet young lady, nice and pleasant also very helpful.
Food ~ are good! and also serve in a big portion.
Came for a friend's birthday party. This place was INSANE that night... really chill bartenders. Happy hour is a good time to come, with select appetizers half off. With everyone raving about their kung pao chicken tacos, I decided that I HAD to try some... and when it came, oh sweet heavens. Little juicy nuggets of chicken slathered in kung pao sauce, with their special sauce... oh, their special sauce... that sauce was so damn good!!!! The tenderness of the chicken kind of tripped me out, I wondered how they did it/how much MSG or coke they slathered on the chicken.... I felt that even with the 1/2 price off, it was a tad expensive compared to the $1 tacos I usually get at taco making establishments... however, I did remind myself that I was at a lounge, at 11 PM at night, and that we were here for the alcohol, and to get the birthday boy piss drunk... not nitpick about the food.
Really, this place is in the dabsmack middle of the block, it can be easily missed... it has a little (like, super freakin tiny) parking area inside, but I found street parking easily, since they were the only thing open around. Really clean interior, I loved the extra big bottles of alcohol behind the counter, and the lighting was pretty sweet, with purple hues grazing a textured wall and creating a really sweet effect. I also really liked how there were plenty of couches, chairs, tables, and bar area, so you could really pick a place to settle down, and use that place for the rest of the night.
Overall, a pretty sweet place to kick back, down a couple drinks, and call it a night with some friends out.
cool decor for chinese restaurant.
food in the menu is ok.
I find most of the food is over salted.
don't order the paper wrap chicken off the regular menu. it's very dry and salty.
I probably should have come for the happy hour, the appetizers on the happy hour menu looks good.
but comes with if you'd like to hang out, have some drink.
don't come for the food.
This place is the ssssHiet.
I have been here a few times, and each times feels like a new experience.
The food is awesome. The kung pow tacos, quesadillas and fried rice are the best in Glendale area. They should win an award or something for that. The chef is an artist, not to mention easy on the eyes... :D
The bartenders are so efficient. They have some really talented ones here, if you know what I mean ;)
The lounge manager here is the coolest, handsomest, most charming man I Â have ever met. One day I will build up the courage to ask him out... but I believe he has a gf *sigh*. Â So I can only admire from afar... :(
GREAT PLACE! good bar food: kung pao beef tacos, orange chicken quesadias and delicious CREME BRULEE!! omg high end places doesnt make creme brulee as good as this place. music is awesome. They had a MC night with special guest judges LOW KEY. Well stock bar and the place looks very fitting for a lounge.
Review Source:Lounges always have perks with them. No cover, no wait time, lots of free parking and this place has especially cheap drinks. What more can you ask for?
I like how the seating area is quite a lot with many couches, tables and chairs at the bar. It seems to be a great place to sit, chat, dance and celebrate!!
The 818 lounge is located in Glendale and the inside of the place is pretty small but you can always find the people you are with! :) The music was pretty loud and it sounded like any other typical place where you go out on a Friday night expect to listen to.
My friends had ordered a few things to eat since they were hungry. Some beef tacos and pot stickers. I would suggest getting the tacos they have a little bit of a great kick in it and love how they have onions on top of the meat. Delicious !! :)
If you are ever in the area of Glendale this is one of the spots for going out with your friends and just having a good time. The night is young and the weekend is full of life. See you at the 818 lounge.
I went here this past weekend to celebrate my friend Nichol's birthday. We decided to have a private party there a day before the actual event and the staff here was more than willing to accommodate us despite the short notice. Our contact was one of the owners named Sean, who I felt went above and beyond our expectations. He offered to decorate, set a private section for us, and even throw in a bottle of champagne if we met our quota of  40 people.
My friend Nichol had been here once before and I've only seen pictures of this place through yelp and wasn't sure what to expect. When I arrived to 818 Lounge I was surprised! Â It looked totally different than the photos I'd seen on here. It was completely renovated and newly decorated.
It went from an average sportsbar to a classy with a dash of spunk kind of sportsbar. It had nice dim lights, suede colored lounge chairs, djs on both floors, and the bar had this really nice multicolored wall made of... I think marble or gems.. not sure, but it was pretty. I got a chance to speak with Elsa, who also works here and she told me how her and another girl Emily had put their ideas together to fix up the place. (Nice job!)
Anyways, I was anxious for the birthday girl to arrive because I knew she was gonna love the lounge... its new decor and the nice set-up they had in place for her. Of course, and as I expected... she was super surprised and thrilled :)
The bartenders here are great too, they're nothing like those douche bag hollywood hipster bartenders that seem to infest all the bars. Instead, these guys n' gals are chill, down to earth, and able to serve up a nice one despite the bar being bombarded with other anxious customers waiting to get saucey.
As the night progressed, I could see herds of people lounging out, dancing, getting their drink on, and whats this..... food!!! Yes, they serve food too! I found out it was cooked by the other owner Eric. I wish I snapped a photo of the food because it wasn't just you're average hamburger n fries or anything.. it actually had some artsy-ness to the plating. Something people like me can appreciate, maybe not you, but Im talking about me right now =P haha...
Anyways.... I see food so I devour.
I guess in short, I'll be back! I have a feeling the next time I come back here it'll look even better than the last time since I've been told its still a project in progress. Not bad for what I've seen... thumbs up ;)
just had these things like tacos at this place. they were giving them out for free as samples i guess i dont know. but they were BOMB!!!! they beat out any of those asian fusion tacos i ever had. far better than kogi. The tacos were like a kung pao style sauce with beef in it with out peanuts. they had hot sauce and onions and cilantro on the side to add to your desires and man ohh man it was BOMB. Heard them saying if all goes well they will make it into a weekly taco tuesday thing will be looking forward to it.
PS BEST MAI TAI ever
I mainly go to 818 to shoot pool for pool league. Recently, it became a hang out spot for a few us. Watch the game, grab a beer, shoot pool, cool bartenders, side bets on darts and bowling.
It's totally awesome because I live right up the street.
I try to avoid it on the weekends though. Usually a birthday or an event is held at the 818 and gets packed.
This is a really funny bar. On top of a Chinese restaurant near the busy Verdugo-Honolulu intersection in Montrose.Or Glendale technically because it is one block down from that intersection.
You go upstairs if you can park in the 8 space parking lot below, and it is a low key establishment. Very bright, very flashy but not an obnoxious club like atmosphere. The drink are pretty cheap even by Montrose standards and there never is a ton of people there. This would be the ideal place to go if you wanted to get a drink and talk with six of your friends. No trouble finding a seat. Bar service ain't that great but with how busy this place gets, you're surprised they even have one employee!
Good low key, non-hostile atmosphere. Cheap drinks. A classy dive, you know the kinda dive minus all the eye-sore features like prostitutes in the parking lot, musicians/junkies sipping down their whisky sour, and the furniture doesn't look like it has been a dog chew toy for the past 30 years.
Yeah so I have to agree this is definitely one of the most random finds ever. Â A couple of my friends and I went here when our friend suggested we drive out to Montrose for a Saturday night. Â We obliged and went. Â I have to admit that we were a little sketched out when we first got there. Â We didn't really expect it to be literally on top of a Chinese Restaurant but that didn't matter too much once we got there. Â
The bartenders were very helpful and I wasn't used to the dirt cheap drink prices. Â 5 bucks for a vodka-cranberry is pretty damn awesome...the fact that the don't skimp on the alcohol just cuz it's cheap...even better! The place didn't really ever get crowded and you never felt claustrophobic or gross considering that the place isn't gigantic. Â I don't know if I would make this one of my regular haunts or somewhere I would drive out of my way to go to but I certainly wouldn't oppose going here if I happened to be in the neighborhood.
Ok, this is one of the most random finds I have found in the neighborhood.
It's above the Sun Palace Restaurant in north Glendale.
I stumbled upon this place while trying to get the "lay of the land" in my new neighborhood.
I am a sucker for a good Mai Tai and  OH YES, they know how to make an excellent Mai Thai...specials on them on Thursdays from what I've been told. Â
The owner, Eric, and his business partner are super nice gents who are super interested in making their guests feel welcome.
Eric overheard me talking to someone at the bar about potstickers and a few minutes later he came out with an order for me to try.
Sh!t, super cool since they were SO GOOD that I wound up ording another Mai Tai and wound up flaking on my friends that I was supposed to meet at SLW that night...uh oh.
It is rare to find a random bar that has good food that I want to eat ( I hate sports bar food, give me something freshly cooked).
The potstickers were delicate, yet held up to my 2-Mai Thai-chopstick-sloppiness, they had a perfectly minced filling with just enough subtle crunchiness from the scallions and ginger...perfect ginger/garlic/scallion balance, and the silkyness of the oil was excellent.
I've also tried their sizzling rice soup and was pleased. Â
I will definitely be there for a drink, Â some soup, and potstickers when the weather gets colder.
I've only gone early in the evening (I'm an early-to-bed-early-to-rise gal) and noticed a friendly bunch of locals who stop by for an quick drink before heading home after work. Â I've driven by on the weekends and it looks like a bustling place since they have a pool table and big screen TVs and Comedy Nights.
It's nice to find a non-riff-raff bar in the neighborhood.
Thanks y'all for being so friendly, for knowing how to mix a drink, and for having the option to order goodies from the prestaurant below!
: )
