The 99 is our "Go To" general food restaurant. Â The food has actually improved in the last year, and some of the more adventurous offerings are actually quite good. Â
I was disappointed the last time I went, as the Chicken Parm was much larger before, but it still tasted quite good. Â
I would never order steak at a 99. Â That is not what they are known for. Â But the Iceberg Wedge is actually quite good.
It is a good place to go when you are just wanting good food without spending too much money.
I went to 99 in 11E Central Street, Worcester, MA with two friends today, all senior citizens. We arrived at about 1.15PM, which is still lunchtime, right? We looked only at the lunch menu on the back page of the Menu and noted that the lunch menu was available until 4PM.
Based on this information, we all ordered from the lunch menu. When the bill came, we were surprised to see that the prices on the bill were much higher than those noted on the lunch menu. When we enquired, the waitress matter-of-factly informed us that their policy was to serve dinners (which cost more) rather than lunches, EVEN AT LUNCHTIME unless the customer EXPRESSLY requested a lunch serving. None of us were aware that we had been given dinner servings, not lunch servings. We assumed that since we ordered at lunch time from the lunch menu, we would get the lunch serving at the lunch menu price. NOT SO! Not a word was uttered about this policy until we saw the bill and asked; no apology was offered either. We felt like we'd been tricked. Very disappointed.
