The Good
Malcolm, our server, was attentive and seemed to really understand the food. Â The foods I tasted at our table were really quite well prepared. Â I had goat, which was really tender. Â Maybe a bit of fat excess but not bad at all. Â I tasted some of the chicken, also quite good. Â My kids didn't leave me any gyro or falafel to taste. Â Spiced really nicely. Â The naan/pita was warm and tasty. Â The variant of tzatziki sauce was not bad, but different.
Decor was simple, maybe even homely. Â As I understand it, they've been open for a few months so I guess this is a good start. Â Hopefully things improve with time.
The Bad
Ordered water to drink and it tasted awful, like an old hose, or maybe the old building it resides in. Â I'm a strong believer in filtering your water at restaurants, I do it at home.
The Ugly
Some tearing of seat covers, worn look to table coverings and dirty centerpiece place mats used for the sugar, salt, pepper, etc. Â The worn covering might be livable, but the dirty cloth centerpieces are a deterrent.
Other Thoughts
The hookah bar is attached but I did not notice any bleeding over into the restaurant space.
The quality of the food is enough to draw me back again, but I hope to see improvements in the little things.
Visiting family we ended up here after 1st choice was too late for lunch.
Place only had one other table in use since it was after 2pm. Waiter, Malcolm, knew the menu and was always checking on us. Hard to find that at many places.
I had the goat (#40 ish) with rice and pita bread. Not sure if it was supposed to naan, but it was not and yet it was fine either way. Meat was tender and flavorful. Bones were like they sharpened them into spears. I don't mind bones, but cut it like a smart person. Falafel was as expected. Tzatziki was too think and spreadable like butter. Never had it like that. It would not pour at all.
The water. Holy moley! Â Get a water filter system or something people! It tasked like it was poured out of a hot rubber garden hose. Worst tasting water ever. Wow. We ask for some lemon or lime for it. We for super thin slices (1/8-1/4 inch) of brown yellow old
The cloth center pieces where the salt, pepper and sugar sat was very dirty, stained and crusty. Wash them things each day people. Ugh. It's unsightly and unappetizing.
I hate to rate a 2 for the water and nasty center piece, however the waiter was good and the food was fine. It's a place I'd go back to at least once, but they gotta fix the water and table center piece grunge first. To-go would have been much more pleasant. If I go back and it's better, I'll re-score.
