Not bad, not good. Totally middle of the road Chinese. It looks nicer inside than most of the Bloomington restaurants, but it tasted just like any of the delivery places. Was hoping for more...

Food remains great. Best Chinese food in town. Service better, but still with some hitches --- things always manage to be late or mixed up.

Ordered delivery from here recently. They do tell you up front that the wait will be about 45-60 minutes, and we waited the full 60. The food WAS excellent -- good quality meat and produce, flavorful and hot -- really good American-Chinese, which Bloomington desperately needs. Personally, I thought the prices were rather high for the amount of food we received, and we even took advantage of a BOGO entree deal! I will probably eat at the restaurant sometime soon and see what portion size is like on-site. In short -- food is excellent, but on a student budget, it's definitely a place to eat when you're flush, not scraping the bottom of the barrel.

With all of the vegetarian options on the menu, I really wanted to like this place.  However, the food was very standard Chinese restaurant fare at best.  The service was painfully slow.  Only one server at 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon.  She didn't know the menu, even after referring to a cheat sheet.  Never revisited the table after delivering our meal (probably 25 minutes after ordering).  She only came back after I tracked her down and asked for take home boxes.

With all of the excellent choices in Bloomington, I really can't recommend this one, folks.

Great food. Great service. Super clean.  Sat at a table with a window with a great view of all the craziness that happens on a Saturday night in Btown.  Could not have been more pleased with our experience.

Great Chinese but I have no idea how it stays in business because it's soooo inexpensive!  Portions are huge and they even recommend sharing - that brings the price down to almost free!  I suggest just ordering a variety of dishes and sharing...leftovers are a good thing and so it eating too much!

Never a crowd, even on weekends, which is nice for our family as we my kids aren't great at waiting for a table.  Full bar with a huge bar menu too.  Must also do a brisk delivery/carry out business.  Nice atmosphere.

Our server was earnest and tried hard, but was uninformed about the menu. We were one of only two tables but the service was extremely slow. Possibly, they weren't expecting anyone to eat there during Taste of Bloomington?

The sizzling rice soup was not, in fact, sizzling. Isn't the drama of the hot rice hitting soup the whole point of the dish? It wasn't bad tasting, but the rice on top might as well have been rice crispies.

The other dishes were fine, certainly better than fast-food Chinese, but was nothing out of the ordinary for sit-down Chinese. I searched in vain for anything "fusion" on the menu, other than the price, which was just a wee bit high for what we got.

As a final indignity, as I was sitting at the table, a large folding screen that was dividing the dining room from the kitchen tipped over. It would have beaned me from behind, but I was saved by the quick reflexes of my seatmate. Another waiter saw this, but did nothing. Just let us struggle to push the screen upright.

This is definitely different from your average "Chinese restaurant." The vegetables are very fresh and it does not taste like they just pour salt into the sauces like they do at a lot of places. This is legit American-Chinese food.

Delivery took literally 15 minutes, and the delivery guy was nice. (Though I ordered during a less busy time.) I ordered the Moo Shu Pork, and it came with thin tortilla shells (wrapped in foil to keep warm) and rice. It was enough food to satisfy my hunger after a 10 hour shift with no lunch, AND I still have leftovers for tomorrow. It's a little expensive, but I feel like I got my money's worth.

    Tummy... so full...

Excellent and quick service.  Fresh ingredients and clean restaurant.  The mandarin chicken was amazing.  Have had delivery and takeout orders.  Delivery was super fast within 30 minutes.  Takeout was fast too, not more than 10 minutes.  Almond chicken was also excellent.  Recommended if you are looking for a fresh American-Chinese meal.

My wife and I order from here all the time. The food is flavorful and very clean. A lot of Chinese food can be very dense, but Alchemy is careful to stay true to the style of the cuisine while utilizing more healthy methods of preparation. It's a win-win-win - Thank you, Pam.

Just finished lunch here. They are currently running a soft open for the restaurant. The service was fast and the food was delicious. Some of the best hot and sour soup I have ever had. If you are looking for traditional Chinese food look somewhere else because Alchemy clearly identifies itself as an American-Chinese restaurant. Solid lunch specials. However their definition of spicy is a bit more mild than I would have liked. Make sure to ask for extra spicy if thats what you like. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience with a nice atmosphere. I will definitely be back.
