    Ahhhh, the Alpine Inn.

Lovingly known as the Alpo, or the FoulPine, for a long time I only knew this place as a spot to get hammered on the cheap... but surprise surprise, they have great food!

I think steaks are the standout on the menu; every time we've gotten one it's been tasty, massive, priced right, and MOST importantly it's been properly cooked. Now, I know that some people view a well-done steak as an abomination on par with kicking babies and pushing over old people, but if you prefer your meat that way you know how hard it can be to find a place that knows how to cook a hunk of meat well done!

Desserts are another great part of the menu; one of the waitresses bakes all their cakes and pies... they are fantastic! Big enough to share, and since you've probably just choked down half a cow, you will definitely want to get 2 forks.

They have quite a bit of seafood on the menu as well. My experiences have been a bit more uneven that with steak, but everything I've had was at least 'OK'.

Service is good, if a bit erratic. All the waitstaff are really friendly, which goes a long way towards making a good dining experience in my mind.

Two things to keep in mind: It's still a roadside bar/restaurant.. if you are looking for ambiance or a a mood setting meal, keep moving. The bar options are also pretty basic.. if you want a Yeungling draft you are good to go, if you'd like Kettle One or decent gin for a G&T you are out of luck.

To sum up: get a steak, and save room for dessert! This is a great, low key place with some real standout items on the menu.
