Al's No 1 Italian Beef

I honestly do not understand how this place gets award after award for their beef sandwiches. The venue is a dive, but who doesn't like dives? The dirty factor is what gets me the most. The beef is a sloppy mess with tasteless flavor. The fries are usually burnt and the prices are too high! The price for a beef, fries and a coke are almost $20. You are better off at Portillo's or Mr. Beef on Orleans if you want a tasty Italian Beef.

a Chicago must-have!  Whenever I think of growing-up in Chicago, U-Town Polishes, Ricobene's, Italian Ice & Al's always came to mind.  Nothing like the big greasy!

One of my favorite beefs, neck and neck with mr beef on Harlem ave. Dipped w hot , side of cheese fries. BEST
