America's Dog

This place served different dogs named after some of the major cities in America. Despite the wide variety, I only went for the Chicago dog...since I'm in Chicago.

Anyhow, the Chicago dog I had was okay. The bun was soft, and it had every component a Chicago dog should have. I wish the hot dog would have more flavor though, and I also didn't how the relish was really sour. But other than that, it was good.

The dogs here were totally not great. I thought they had been left boiling for way too long and they were served cold to me. Gag. The buns and the fries are the reasons for me to go back. The relish was very cold, like someone had just taken it out of the fridge. Also the woman at the counter is super surly and unfriendly. However she is amenable to changes in the toppings- like someone had told her the customer was always right, but she really didn't believe the hype. I liked that there was no extra charge for toppings, you can put whatever you want on your dog for free

I can't say enough about the Tucson dog(jumbo jalapeno cheddar dog with chorizo, jalapenos & melted cheese topped with crispy tortilla strips).  It was absolutely amazing, so much so that I ordered a second one after two bites into my first.  My friend got the Chicago dog, which was a bit underwhelming, so she switched over to my Tucson.  Definitely prefer Gold Coast Dog's Chicago dog.  However, Tucson dog ALL DAY!!  I tell all my friends that visit Chicago to try it!
