Horrible..... Crapy slow staff with crapy attitude. It seems they just went on the street and hired the world oldest guy to run the front desk that had no clue how to handle his job. Food staff were even worst . Took them an hour to deliver our food. There was no ice in the soda machine. My friend couldn't play pool because he was under 21!!! Really thats bull. We could bowl but not pool? Doesn't even make sense. And worst of all the game froze twice during our game. first time old man winner fix it after 20 min second time  after 2 hours it froze right before the last player game. Waited 30 min and no one was there to assist us so we left! Horrific experience . It may seem cheaper than other placed but its not worth the experience. Never going there again!!!!
Review Source:Well this place pretty much sucks.
First of all, its unlimited bowling from 8-12, so at 10 don't turn off our lane and say we are done.
2nd, if you want to play with bowling balls that have huge divets in them, than this is the right place for you.
4th, play some music or something, every other bowling alley i go to plays music.
5th, this place reeks with little kids, i can not say how many times we have other family members just stand in our lane watching their family bowl, and how many times their balls went down our lane. Unbelievable.
6th, who is the super big girl who is serving food? You need to fire her right away. She has the biggest attitude i have ever seen, she needs to be fired. Don't come over and throw our fries down and mug us, not our fault it took 45 minutes for you guys' to deep fry some fries and add melted cheese.
I think this place needs to hire ALL new staff, who actually want a job.
I will never be returning to this place.
Front desk is slowwwwwww..... Â Think 20 minutes for checking in right when they open. Â They had only 1 person answering phones, shoes, and checking people in . Â They need at least 2 Npeople and 2 cash registers open. Â They reboot the system
And we all
Stand there for 10 minutes waiting.
Today, I went here with my bf and we had an awesome time. Â Since today was a Saturday, they had this bundle price of unlimited games/per person including bowling shoes which totaled to $18 plus tax. Â That bundle is good if you plan to play many games, if not, there are separate pricing for shoes and games.
Review Source:Horrible experience, especially since I had my kids with me. Â Way overpriced. Â The staff was apathetic and was very slow to respond to issues. Â Virtually all of the video games were out of order (including both the basketball and air hockey). Â The boys bathroom was absolutely disgusting - water all over the floor and the sink, no toilet paper in the stall, the soap dispenser was off the wall and on the floor, one paper towel dispenser was empty and the other one was broken, and the toilet seat had graffiti carved into it. Â I'll never go back here.
Review Source:LOVE this place!
I come here with clients (adults with limited abilities) during the day. They're always treated well, which is a big issue at some other bowling places in the area.
Pricing is unbeatable, with the disability discount my guys can play a round plus get shoes for $2.75... amazing.
We always have fun. AND, the girl who works there every time we go is awesome, super friendly and helpful!
Only downer is that sometimes the equipment can be a little off, but we just end up pushing the reset button thing on the ball holder. Not enough of an issue to take a star off though.
Definitely go here! It's nothing fancy, but it's wonderful and affordable!
Great place with some fantastic people! You name an employee, and I probably wont be able to say enough about their customer service skills. Ona, Justin, Darren, Bartholemew, Lyndsay, Tin, Viet, Bree, Kyle, Kayla, Donna, and Stephanie. If you are patient, you may even like Linda at the bar. Those are a few of my personal favorites! Keep up the pro styles!! Ya'll got a Kentucky girl to love ya'll!!
Review Source:uhm, not really a fan. Â it's not terrible, but there are way better lanes around.
service: slow and meh. Â it took forever to get checked in, even longer to get shoes. the employees move pretty slow and seem to hate their jobs. Â i get not everyone loves their job, but wow, if you hate it that much, get a new one.
lanes: they're ok. old school. Â don't expect any fancy stuff. Â it's pins, balls, pull up bumpers.
food: Â ok, i'll give it up here - pizza is surprisingly good. it's not the best thing i've ever eaten, but for bowling alley food? not bad at all. they also have easily accessible water and cups. Â not a big deal to some, but i hate always going places and having to ask for water. Â i like the set up.
it's not as crowded as other places, so that's a plus. shoes are either nearly new, or needing to be thrown out. Â a few video games to amuse the non-bowlers.
Just got back from my last night bowling at AMF. Â We've been here maybe 5 times now and never had a bad experience until tonight. Â We started at 8:10pm and couldn't bowl past 9:00pm on our unlimited bowllng plus shoes for $18 per player. Â Pretty lame. Â The real kicker was when I went back for a second drink. Â They pour a Jack and Coke with no more than a shot in a drink. Â They used a shot glass to measure it. Â Well, needless to say, it was a tiny, weak drink. Â So when I went back up to get another, the bartender tells me I'm only allowed 1 drink every half hour. Â Pathetic. Â They messed up the chicken wrap and put ranch inside instead of honey mustard which was listed on the menu. Â The every drink a half hour max is the part that will get me to never come back. Â Sorry AMF, you guys are a fail job.
Review Source:PROs: This place is cheap. They have good deal all year round and it doesn't get that busy. The food is decent and the people are nice. The music is okay. I would say it is better than some bowling alleys.
CONs: Their alcohol are weak. The score tracker can be off at times. The bowling balls aren't cleaned daily and can be clipped, which affect your bowling. The pins sometimes come out, missing one or two.
If you aren't all hardcore or super serious about getting a high score, and just wanna have fun, then this is the place for you. It's cheap, good location, and average everything else.
The lighting, the drinks, the venue - all great! If you are not looking to start your own bowling club and are actually just looking for something fun to do, this is a great place to do it. It's bowling meets fun dance club.
*** The drinks also are not too pricey but I would recommend just going "the pitcher of beer" route as the bartenders here are not the most uhhhh time efficient.
its pretty good on price i think it was $18 for unlimited which included shoes. That price starts after 9pm. Food service was HORRIBLE!! i was the only one in line waiting to order. waited for 15 mins just to order. i dont know if they were short staffed or just ignoring customers.
There were many issues during the game. lots of glitched. it got really annoying.
I went here when i was a kid. boy did it really go down hill. Â over all the price was the only good thing about this place.
Saturday night Cosmic Bowling!!! Â Unlimited bowling all night for $18 is pretty good I think.
They need to switch up the bowling balls because they are starting to have no traction on the bowling lanes...or maybe the lanes are just oiled up too much...or maybe i just suck at bowling!
I would've given a higher rating if it wasn't for our lane being closed off because the front desk kept forgetting we had unlimited bowling and wasn't programming are lane correctly.
It was a fun night in all though!
I'm a league bowler here at AMF moonlite lanes; and I have my league night every Monday night, but I do go here an additional 1-2x/week in order to practice. The late night unlimited bowling from 9p.m.-1a.m. for $12 is as cheap as it gets, also from time to time you will also receive $5 off coupons on your receipt! So, I can do my 2-3 hour bowling practice for only $7!
Monday night is league here, but going at 9p.m. isn't a problem, but from 6-8:30 it's pretty crowded so you'd have to bowl either before or after that time.
Tuesday is pretty mellow, there are only a few leagues that take the right end of the alley.
Wednesday is pretty slow at night as well, and makes for a good time to practice. Thursday, this place is crowded as ever with leagues filling every single lane, but you could get a lane after about 9:45p.m. But don't expect to be able to get a lane between 8-9:45p.m, as the entire house has league.
Friday & Saturday nights are my least favorite times to go bowling, as it is disco night at the center. They turn the lights off and the lanes are simply illuminated by disco balls - which makes it very difficult to see the path finders (The arrows 15 feet into the lane that you use to mark your shot). There's also a giant projector screen that displays music videos, it's a cool night if you're here to bowl casually and with friends. But these nights definitely don't make good practice nights if you're trying to increase your average. It is also slightly more expensive to bowl during this time $18, as opposed to $12 unlimited from 9p.m.-close Monday-Thursday & Sunday. Although, I'm not sure when that $18 deal starts, as I have bowled with that special as early as 6p.m. on a Friday night before.
As a league bowler, lane conditions are constantly changing - from the weather, the oiling machine, and the formula that the alley chooses to use. Every single bowling center uses a different formula for coating the lanes; it is up to the bowler to figure out if there is any thin areas on the lane - and how to adjust their throw based on the conditions at hand. Unless, the bowling alley that I am bowling at for league, messes up the oil two leagues in a row then I'll be quite upset - and I will bring it to the attention of the mechanic.
Other than that, every once in a while the lanes don't reset properly, so you'll have to reset it. And also, the ball return make take a lot longer - but it's pretty rare. You'd have to throw a ball into an adjacent lane off to your right, since two lanes both use the same ball return, in order to get your ball out. Or, you could just ask someone to retrieve it.
In any case, if you want to improve your game or have questions, you can always ask someone that looks like they know what they're doing. And, those people are pretty easy to point out and the staff is generally very friendly. For the pricing though, this center definitely has great value.
Great place to go for bowling Sun-Thurs nights! from 8-close it's only 12 dollars! They have raised the prices from summer when it was only 10 dollars but it is still a great deal! When you only have 2 people in the lane, you can play as many as 25 games! Â Only down side is that sometimes it gets busy and you have to wait for a lane but the wait is never longer than 30 minutes! Also occasionally, the pins do not reset properly and you have to call them over to reset the lane. Â This place has much better lanes than Homestead Lanes. Â Much more modern than them. Â
Overall, one of the best places to go bowling around the Santa Clara/Cupertino area.
Went here with the homies because one of my dudes' suggested this place is crackin' and its cheaper than other places. It's $12 bucks unlimited bowling starting 9pm with shoes but they close at 1am. There's a bar and plenty of lanes but the seats are small and kinda too close to other parties and i've experienced better places.
I personally didn't like their lanes, it was too oily & slippery, it was hard to curve the ball. Or that can just me I suck at bowling oh well. I would come back here if someone else drove or if there was a super special discount on bowling.
Love going to the Unlimited Bowling special from 9PM to 12:45 AM! Â Pretty much a serious bowler (again) and I get a chance to really practice and fine tune my game. Â Usually after I'm done and I look up at the scorekeeping screen, I usually end up with 20+ games for the entire 3 hour, 45 minute session. Â The only night I see slight crowds is on Thursday, which is the last day of the special until it starts up again on Sunday. Â The price of $12 cannot be beat for the amount of time allowed, considering other bowling centers charge $24 per hour per person, and shoes not included either.
The staff is very helpful and cool, the snack bar and bar has good specials and though some of the inexperienced bowlers that don't give lane courtesy and race you to the approach thinking they should always bowl first, don't bother me at the least. Â Just a minor annoyance.....
Since I'm a "regular" so to speak, some of the staff wonder why I drive all the way down from San Leandro though there are two bowling centers on the way to Moonlite Lanes, but the special can't be beat, especially with some centers charging 2-3 times more than the $12 for unlimited bowling, AMF has a lot of great online coupons for discounted bowling when you sign up for their e-mail notifications, the other centers are just overrun and crowded, there is virtually no waiting list even on busy nights and I love the staff, who are very helpful, and I enjoy chatting it up with them cause they're great people.
Tried their unlimited bowling deal...loved it.. will come back for more!
Thumbs Up for:
1. Great Deal, great price: Sun-Thu, unlimited bowling after 8pm at $10 per person (shoe rental included).
2. Cheerful ambiance
3. Plenty of lanes, you will never have to wait.
4. Friendly staff.
Tip: This place is a cornered location can be hard to find, so look for the big shopping complex just next to it and enter from there for easy access.
My friends and I came here for my first time bowling and I honestly thought this place was so much fun. It might be because it was my first time, but as long as you have good company, this place is great. The decor is retro which gives the bowling experience a really nice feel. They also have around 5 screens at the end of each lane with music videos projecting onto it. The music only bettered my experience in bowling. I would definitely come here.
TIP: Check online for summer specials!
My friend and I bought a Groupon for this bowling alley for 2 hours of bowling and it included shoes. For our other friends, they paid a family pack for 4 people, which included popcorn, games and drink. We came on a Sunday and it wasn't packed for a late afternoon.
The alley is pretty up to date and pretty big. The food menu looked more appetizing but since we were going to have dinner later, we didn't try it out. The location is behind the shopping center so if you're coming from El Camino, you would see a sign. You don't realize that it's behind the shopping center until you go and find it. One of the lanes was acting up because the bar would freeze for a minute or so before re racking the pins. It did this a couple of times before the attendant had us move to another two lanes.
On the new lanes, we had to reset the pins a couple of times because it wasn't doing it automatically or we would bowl and it didn't register on the scoreboard. Our whole bowling experience was alright and seemed there were more glitches compared to other bowling alleys we've been to. I like to bowl and AMF does offer bowling parties for adults so I would take advantage of that. I may just go to another AMF bowling alley closer to home.
$10 unlimited bowling w/ shoe rental, free bowling for kids during the summer, or the AMF Summer Pass for $29.95 (bowl 2 games a day all summer before 8pm) All super sweet deals! I'd better be a pro by the end of summer! :P
Yea, the lanes may not be nicest- ex: you may have to press the reset button a couple of times if you get a strike (atleast you got a strike!)
Take advantage of their happy hour! Nothing beats drinking 'cheap' beer and being tipsy while bowling! :D
PRICE
A little expensive. Bowlers without shoes are expected to pay about $12-13 for a game/hour of bowling and shoes.
SPECIAL PRICES
Sunday-Thursday after 8pm has a $10 per person offer with shoe included and unlimited 2 hours of bowling.
Friday-Saturday has a $18.99 deal that includes shoes and an unlimited times bowling of 2 hours, I think.
Anyway, they always have a special. There are always coupons available through emails, too.
BOWLING LANES
There are usually glitches happening to the lanes where you'll have to bowl your same turn up to 5 times for your turn to end. Lanes are pretty clean and smooth. During Friday and Saturday nights after 8m, they turn turn some of the lights off and turn on black lights revealing glowing lights around the walls and in the seating area. The bowling lanes will have a bunch of LED lights what dances around but doesn't really bother you all all while bowling, and music videos will be played on a projector near the middle of the lanes.
SEATING
There is only three seats per lane so with you have a big group it can get tightly crowded.
FOOD
They provided a full menu with lots of drinks, pizzas, wings, sandwiches, desserts, and more. Prices are slightly expensive but affordable enough to split and share with  everyone.
SERVICE
Employees can be nice and sometimes annoying. Sometimes I'll be waiting for a couple of minutes to pay for a lane because they are chatting it up behind the counter. When you want food on a busy day, it's almost impossible to get the attention of the food attendant when you want to order food or get a refill in your pitcher. When you need help with a glitching lane, sometimes it can take 5-10 minutes to get help to fix your lane, sometimes it does get fixed right away.
It was crowded when we arrived. I assume because of their special promotion - Unlimited bowling? "That exists?", I wondered. Yes, it totally does.
We paid for 8 of us, bowled for a few times, but the system went down so it didn't record our scores accordingly. One of the staffs came over and tried to repair, but he failed, so they returned our money afterwards.
Bonus:
- They open late
- There are a bar and a kitchen/restaurant
- There are other fun arcade game machines. My friends enjoyed playing basketball and boxing while waiting for our available lanes.
I don't think this is a good place for bringing kids in at night because there are too many dudes smoking, drinking, and swearing. However, I believe birthday party with large number of kids can play safely and have fun during the day.
This place is SO much better compared to Homestead Lanes that I just had to give it at least 3 stars to begin with!!!!! (this tells you just how horrible my experience was at Homestead Lanes)
A group of us came here for a friend's birthday party celebration (extreme bowling on a Saturday night - yeah!), and they had a really good deal where we got to rent out a few lanes at a set price and we had unlimited bowling starting at 10pm until close (~1am). Everything went smoothly the whole night, the place was super packed for most of the night, and we had a great time!
I'm not sure how much it is normally, but we came here for the All-You-Can-Bowl, or better yet, AYCB, $10 special. Â It's Sunday-Thursday from 9pm-close and includes shoe rental. Â We stayed till around midnight and got a good 2.5 hours of bowling in. Â Pro: they open until 1am so you can technically get a full 4 hours of bowling if you're a super addict.
The bowling alley is large and has a bar/snack bar. Â The snacks smelled really good, though I did not get anything. Â I think last call for food is around 11pm and last call for alcohol is around 11:30pm. Â There's only one person working the bar so the service is very slow. Â Hint: just don't all go trying to get booze at the same time!
4 stars just because they have AWESOME HOT WINGS here!!
Everyone was surprised by how delicious these wings were. Now it is a tradition to play our first round of bowling for wings. Whichever team loses must buy some wings. Sometimes we even do this for the second round :P
Beers are fairly priced and they have as good of a selection as a bowling alley can have for beers on tap :)
I think it's time for a makeover Moonlite!
Several months ago, a group of friends and I came in for some "fun". Well, it became more of a headache. Majority of the machines were getting stuck; pins wouldn't reset, balls stuck in limbo, etc. An employee had to come over a few times to reset things.
And the bar! Over priced, watered down drinks. Blah!
If Moonlight was my only option, I would come in during their specials. I think Monday is their dollar night!?
This place is clearly going for a modernized, "bowling is cool and hip!" kind of feel... but it's clearly not getting something right. Â It seems like they either half-assed it, got stuck in the middle, or realized that their customers are not exactly the Lucky Strike crowd. Â But I like bowling, and not necessarily Lucky Strike, so I'm glad they didn't get it right all the way.
It's fairly cheap (go for their deals), and was not crowded even on a Friday night.  Their computer system  (though modern) seems to be a little inflexible (i.e. can't add people once we start), but the staff is nice and accommodating.
This place is my home away from home! Â Very laid back atmosphere with an absolutely phenomenal staff. Â
Linda and Donna are the two best bartenders you will find anywhere on this planet, and are so dang friendly and awesome that I look forward to seeing them almost as much as the bowling.
The staff here is really great, especially Kalvin and Phillip!! Â Kal and Phil are not only really friendly and efficient cashiers, but are also badass individuals and expert bowlers. Â Both have given me countless helpful tips on my game both on and off the clock.....big cheers to those guys! Â
This is one of my favorite places in Santa Clara, even though the men's restroom lacks mirrors (a bonus for some people).
Things here could be better to say the least.
The major pit falls of this place:
1. Â Bad, bad, bad customer service:
When the coin machine ate a dollar, the employees of this place were non cooperative in refunding our buck! Â It's a dollar, and were spending money on a lane, three games, for three people, food and drinks! Â Seriously?
2. Â Awful Beer policies:
So... there is a bear deal, but for each bear (super small sized) you drink, you have to wait 30 minutes for another. Â This is ridiculous! Â The alcohol content in a mixed drink far surpasses this, but if your a beer drinker you have to wait, and wait, and wait!
3. Â Stupid Employees:
So... when I asked to purchase a pitcher of beer, I was told I needed two other people, and their ID's, but that those people could not be the guys I was with, because they still had a 1/2 hour to wait.  Then the bartender (she's already got a bad review below about her) overtly mocked me, with attitude, as I asked her about the beer policy!  The manager, later took care of everything and brought us two pitchers of beer, but  after such a headache those beers should have been comped like crazy!
4. Um... yuck.
We also saw the chef drop some food on the floor, pick it up and cook, and serve it to paying customers anyway. Â So... yuck!
Service was overtely rude and utterly disapointing. Â
There were two guys who really appeared to be making an effort to make up for the overall Sh)#y service of every other employee in the place. Â Daniel one of the managers was pretty cool, as was "what's his name" the CSR dude at the shoe counter. Â Sadly two people cant make up for a team of sh(ty employees!
We bowled 3 games (and I kicked some major but for my first of three, than... we wont talk about what happened next). Â If it weren't for our sheer interest in bowling, we would have left within our first few minutes in the place.
Saturday at around 9pm:
2 people for 2 games with 2 shoe rentals = $35.
1 pitcher of beer = $16.
Scoring a 90 and beating BOTH of the guys = priceless.
I do not bowl. I don't kick my foot back, I don't own any bowling balls, I am not in a league, I don't know what it means when you say "it's all in the wrist".
I just throw the bowl down the alley in hopes of hitting something and you know what, that's pretty fun :)
PS. Our alley kept messing up and didn't clear our pins right away and the crowd here on this particular Saturday night was very very... odd.
Interior totally renovated -- you would never know it by the outsides -- if you can even find it in the first place.
I miss the old grease pencils and overhead projectors and now even some of the earlier electronic scoring systems. Now you don't even get a chair and desk, only a squat podium with a keyboard and enter buttons. Â They system has its quirks, but it does the job. (It also comes with some silly graphics when you get a strike and spare. No one really gets to see it as it gets flashed on the screen just after and is done before you get back to your seat.)
Anyway, had a good company team building party there. Two hours of bonding is just enough.
Pizzas were pretty standard, sub-par variety you would expect from a bowling ally. Wash it down with Bud and the like in the brew department.
Video games look well maintained. Staff was courteous and helpful.
Thursday night FUNNN
Okay so i gave up clubbing on thursday night for this fun place.
Here are some reasons why.
Thursday Nights starting at 10PM.
$1 shoe rental
$1 games
$1 domestic draft beers
$1 hot dogs
$1 shooters
I can walk there from myhouse since its only a block away but i usually drive.
Competitive games with friends.
Funn night and creative names and work on my bowling skills.
DOnna the server rocks my socks off. Great place and i like how they cleaned up teh place and put new monitors.
Great Bar and nice TVs
Haven't been to other bowling alleys in the area, but this one is pretty cool.
clean facilities
wheelchair accessible
good music w/ 2 big screens showing music videos..
organized balls by size - YAY
shoes that looked clean/new
typical bowling alley food, but i didn't try it
typical mini arcade
ice cream vending machine - TOTALLY COOL.. i guess i never saw it in action. The fridge lid lifts, and a vacuum tube sucks up your ice cream bar/sandwich.. and drops it. WHOAS!
well stocked bar with billiards - wristband that says something like drinking age verified !! awesomes! i would totally keep that wristband if it wasn't all sweaty after my dancing at Molly Magee's after bowling.
Our lane was malfunctioning, but they were really accommodating. They immediately switched us to another lane nearby. (moved our scores too.. i didn't know they could do that!) A tad pricier, but if I'm in the area, and have the urge to knock down a few pins, I'll be back! :) In fact, our group could've stayed their to dance in the lanes.. not many people were around.. and we were digging the music.
