"Meh, I've experienced better" is right. Â Down the highway a bit, at the bowling alley in Albany. Â I've tried AMF Pinole twice, and if I have any say in it, there won't be a third time.
The management (or corporation) has structured the pricing to be ridiculous. Â You can pay a whole lot for unlimited bowling (might be handy if you need to dump kids/relatives/visiting friends somewhere for oh, say 9-10 hours) or you can just pay a lot for one game/lane/shoes.
And the staff attitudes need improvement. Â Seriously. Â Don't cut your eyes at me little lady like I don't have a right to be alive, and I haven't even said a peep to you. Â And the young guy behind the counter, you aren't fabulous so stop trying.
Two stars because one and a half isn't an option.
came here mostly on a tuesday/thrusday or weekends.
For the weekdays: the services are slightly better ...still I experience better
For the weekends: bad services and extremely longggggg waiting time
The last time I crashed with my friends. We waited for about 2 rounds of billards. Since our group are quite crowded we stole two tables. Me and my other friends were hoppers from video to dancing then went to buy chips from the vending machine.
The food are alright ! I am always hungry and craving junkie at night so it somewhat satisfy me and my friends needs :))
They have a variety of weights yet not many that fits my strength. I had to yield to others :*( which sucks since it seems like forever for the ball to get back to me.
Overall
decent food
decent drinks
same old same old video games
has 2 pool tables
it is $10 after 9pm so it is quite reasonable pricing :)
shoe rental included I think
Idr since I barely rent their shoes
Just another bowling alley. There's a special on Mon-Thurs nights (like 7 or 8 till closing) that's 10 bucks including shoes AYCBowl. However, since they hold league bowling, it doesn't really start until 9, 9:30 unless you're early enough to get ahold of the lanes at the end that may be open.
They have a lot of bowling balls for the average even-number weights used, but little of the in-between weights. Not sure how many balls they have for kids either, so if you're coming here for a party, you should definitely check it out yourself.
Have never tried the food (although if you're Ron Swanson, the food should be scared of you ;D) but the people there do try to keep the areas clean-ish.
The place is really kind of in the middle of nowhere just off the freeway...lol
There isn't really a nightlife in the area unless you drive to San Francisco so they have a bar with one pool table. You pretty much get some drinks and go drunk bowling to have some fun. Decent drinks.
The lanes are ok and the prices are pretty much the same at all other places. They need to have a $1 a game deal or something and I think it would be more popular.
It's alrite. Ain't nothing nothing special. The inside look raggedy as hell. They always repairing or cleaning something. It takes the ppl in the back to fix whatever problem you have forever to fix. The manger Robert doesn't do anything. The servers are nice tho. The food is skyhighigh and it ain't that good. The bowling prices are high too. The shoes are dirty & disgusting. If you want cheap entertainment with loud ghetto people then come here. If you want real fun go some where else , not here. Like I said before ain't nothing special about this place.
Review Source:Once you get bowling it's fine. Service everywhere here is slow and not great. Whether it be the front desk when you want another game, the snack bar who can't remember which lane you are on even after you tell them 4 times or the bar that took me 10 minutes to get a drink, all underwhelming. Prices for the first game are steep but subsequent games aren't bad. Food and drink prices also are pretty good. Just be prepared to wait.
Review Source:been coming here since high school and many many years later it has not changed one bit. I came back because my family decided to be competitive and round up a family bowling league which consists of 6 teams of 5 members. Â ITS SERIOUS PEOPLE! my family is full force when it comes to competition with SPORTS! So these grounds held our practice sessions for the upcoming tournament. Â Again, its fun when you are with the right people.. family. mixed crowd, food is alright, drinks can be stronger, customer service can be better.
Review Source:+1 star for the updated screens for scoring and the lanes and approaches which were well kept.
+1 star for the ample parking but the alley is right next to the freeway.
-1 star for the ragged seating with few seats available for bowlers. The layout of the alley isn't the greatest use of space. Â They have the arcade and billiards right in the main entrance which is motion activated and opens like you're going to Safeway. Â Not really great if you have to sit by the door which is right at lane 30 and 31. Â
-1 star for the ladies restroom. Â The door for both ladies and mens were clear see through heavy doors but had a handicap button for it to auto-open. Â Kinda awkward though still. Â The stalls in the ladies restroom were in bad shape. Â One of the doors was busted so many times, there were track marks up and down the door where they kept re-positioning the lock. Â One stall had the toilet torn from the wall...somehow. Â
-1 Star for the food and service compared to other AMF's.
This was a good place to have my son's 8th birthday party. Tons of parking. They give you one staff person to attend to your needs. We were given the lanes near the end so you feel a little secluded even if the place is packed. They set up a party table right at the end of your lane- not in some far away room. I think this is better as it keeps parents and kids together near the action. They send you off with an actual bowling pin for all your guests to sign. It now sits on my son's desk in his room. Overall a good, fun party with no mess to clean up!
Review Source:ehh i only go to this one cause it's close to home and it isn't packed as albany hmm i wonder why? lmao it's cause there lanes are always messing up with technical difficulties i get sick of it every time me and my friends bowl there it's always messing up but they will hook you up with another game if they take way too long and ohh the food there is expensive not worth buying and the drinks are ok if you like your drinks real strong but they do have great deals on bowling if you go sign up for the e-club they always be sending me free games or 99 cent coupons thats just another reason i go here!
Review Source:1star for Great lanes, negative 4 stars because of very unprofessional poor customer service. we were having trouble with our lanes and the technician said,"im just going to restart your lanes and you all can figure it out". I looked at him and said, "HOW? WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO".
Also, the "EXTREME" bowling didn't start until 20minutes after it was supposed to, and I even called them on my cell to ask. They said "5 minutes" about 3 times until it actually started.
Then, when we were almost done bowling, we asked Joshua how much more time we have. He said he'd let us know in 2minutes... That 2minutes turned out to be NEVER.
This was our first time here, thanks Joshua for ruining our night. And no, we don't want to hear about you GETTING MARRIED.. hope you treat your wife better than you treat your customers.
2 stars because I think it's a decent bowling alley and they all look the same to me. But this place sucks for the fact that they took so long to turn off the lights and play music (took until 10:40 pm, thought it was supposed to start at 10:15)! Little kids all up in the way in your lane like they want to get hit in the head by your bowling ball....and some of the workers here are lame and need to learn how to speak to customers in a non-rude manner. But then again, it IS close to Richmond, what do you expect.
Review Source:Look, I dig hanging out in a bowling alley wearing my bathrobe and drinking White Russians as much as the next guy, but if Walter doesn't shut up about Vietnam and keeps pulling his gun on every bowler that steps over the line, then I'm folding on this whole bowling league idea. But then that would be very un Dude like.
I remember this place as an awesome hangout when I was a 12 year old with a pocket full of quarters for the arcade, but now that I am a 27 year old who can't find a ball that 1) fits my fingers and 2) is light enough for me to bowl with, I am seriously reconsidering my 12 year old opinion. (And I'm reminded that I need to get back over to the gym!) Â But if you like a "sport" where you can eat food while doing it and (have the patience to make it though 10 frames) and be my guess!
I'd just rather wear my own shoes and avoided drinking with townies in the back bar!
I haven't been bowling (umm, other then my mii on wii) in about 15-20 years. Â The little ones love wii bowling so we thought we'd show them how it all began... We called to make sure they had lighter balls and tiny shoes for kids - gruff answer, but yeah, we're set. Â A quick drive down 4 and we're there. Â One guy was especially helpful in locating the special light kids' balls (bright green ones.) Â Mine was purple. Â Jack had a red one and a black one.
So we're all shoe'd and ball'd up and ready to go. Â The scorekeeping machine is genre-friendly, offering up a kids' background to add to Cinzia and Reno's excitement.
We bowled a few sadly-gutter-ball-filled frames, and out of nowhere one of the staffers (the same one who got us the kids' balls, which we named "monkey balls," don't ask) Â came over and introduced us to the "gutter-gates." Â Little fences that pull up to eliminate your 5-year old's continuous gutter balls and sheer disappointment that makes them run for the video acrade down the hall. Â I had no idea these little fences existed. Â Magic. Â They're both interested again.
Coached on by my "legs apart, roll it hard" and cheered on by Jack's "Yeah, you got 4!!" and we're in business. Â Still, they only lasted one game and we paid for two. Â The manager didn't hesitate to refund us the $7 for the game we didn't play.
INet juke, which Jack filled with my favorites almost as soon as we got there.
Big arcade area with pinball, pool tables, punching bag game, air hockey, pool... you name it. Â You can also order pizza, etc., and/or enjoy a few drinks at the bar.
I totally sucked at bowling today (loved the bowling shoes paired with my red/black plaid pants though), but had a great time with the little ones and Jack. Â We'll be back.
This is what I hate about modern day bowling alleys. There were too many problems to mention in this quick post but to sum it up, I have been here 3-4 times and will never go back. I now go to Albany Bowl instead.
Here were my biggest issues:
1. Horrible service - took for ever get service
2. No kids balls - the kids were using balls that were way to big. They need more 6 LB balls as I didn't see ONE??
3. Video games were in horrible and mostly broken shape
4. Ordered some food - typical bowling alley fare
The worst part:
Me and an 8 and 11 year old = shoes and games: $52 for two game. Come on - thats more than the movies for less time.
I will not go back!!!
We always enjoy going to this bowling alley as a family. Â The staff were so friendly & accomodating our kids' needs. Â A staff member even came over to show our son how roll the ball gently because he was throwing it down the aisle too rough. Â They came over & signed our son up for their little league, as they thought he would benefit as a little pro bowler. Â On weeknights, there's a rate saver of $5 cover, which makes the shoes $1, hot dogs $1, beer $1, games $1. Â It was an awesome deal...couldn't beat it! Â So, my son played so many games that he eventually got bored & went for the arcades.
Review Source:A low-key, no stress bowling alley with coupons available on-line for 10 games @ .99 Â Shoe rentals are $4.25 per pair.
They are cool if you want to bring in your own snacks and are helpful setting up lane bumpers and resetting the video scoring system if you mess up.
Daytime clientèle is small groups of kids with their parents; grandparents with their cool bowling gear showing off how real bowlers do it; and community groups on outings. Â
Juke box music is up to date and the updated snack bar is quick and easy to get to between frames.
The perfect place for a day out with the kids.
I used to take a bowling class for school here. Â I also used to be in the kids bowling league. Â I wasn't very good but I had a lot of fun there. Â I also went to some fun birthday parties there as a kid. Â
But as I got older I saw this bowling alley as ghetto and possibly even dangerous. Â Also the price of a game is way too high considering what kind of customers go there. Â they have a bar inside of the place full of mostly losers. Â
Everyone is stuffing their faces with hot dogs. Â People are showing off their custom bowling balls. Â This bowling alley turned me off of bowling.
They used to have a great video game section, last time I went it wasn't that hot.
One time I went with my brother and my cousin and we got home and realized my brother still had on his bowling shoes. Â We laughed so hard. Â My brother forgot he had bowling shoes on. Â So we had to drive all the way back to get his shoes. Â We laughed all the way. Â That was my best memory there.
