Good solid diner, above average for PA. I had family in town for a wedding and they only had time to grab a quick Sunday brunch before they headed out of town. I originally made plans elsewhere but they were stressed about the time. We found Andy's through Yelp and it was a great call. Server was super helpful and friendly, although she was REALLY pushing the breakfast buffet. Coffee was good and although she was busy she kept the glasses full. My wife got the buffet - pancakes, french toast, waffles, bacon, sausage, fruit, guy making omelettes, danish. She liked it - she got her omelette and was able to have something for her sweet tooth as well. My cousin and I each got the gyro omelette with provolone - original take on a classic. Good stuff. Price was good, we will be returning. Good stuff. Looking forward to going for lunch or dinner sometime, having a burger and a few brews.
Review Source:Came here late night after bowling a while ago. Â We were the only two people in the place. Â It took our waitress about 20 minutes to come to the table and over an hour for two milkshakes, an omelette, and a Greek dish. Â Our waitress was completely full of it an couldn't stop scratching her arms etc. The state our waitress was in was SO sad. Â My omelette was awful, containing all sorts of pig product...I just wanted plain big ol' bacon/ cheese omelette, and vanilla shake:(. Â My date liked his dish, but he has olfactory issues, and admits to not being able to taste most things. Â I think he had moussaka? Â The manager on duty seemed cool, but having worked in the biz....I tend to believe what the customer is saying( the customers state pretty nasty harassment). Â If that's the case get a grip, just stop giving people hours...don't harass them. Â I know plenty of girls who've been on the receiving end of that nonsense. Â It's just makes you and your business look worse.
Review Source:I have got to say a diner that is 24/7  with a full bar  to add is probably one of the greatest ideas out there . Andy's is one of those places that offers the customer these kind of  accommodations . Â
I came in after work in the morning for breakfast . A pretty big parking lot  that I have ever seen even for a diner, also Andy's is very handicap friendly which makes it easy.
When I walked through the double doors to  the seating area(s), I had noticed nice sized fully stocked bar on your left with seating all around. This being a little after 7:30 in the morning there wasn't anyone making drinks, but I did notice they have Victory and Sammy A (Samuel Adams) on tap, yes please !
I was seated promptly , Â my waitress greeted me with a smile and immediately read my mind , and it was yelling for coffee. I perused over their breakfast menu , everything looked good at a very reasonable price.
I had decided on going with a Supreme omelette along with a short stack. The Supreme definitely lived up to its name with ham, bacon , sausage  in the mix with some jalapeno peppers cut up for an added kick. This full plate also comes with a side of home fries (sliced potatoes) which was ok. The pancakes were ok pretty big , some what fluffy that did take up the whole circumference of the plate.
Pretty good breakfast they have, its not like another spot I know of that Miss. Danan had mentioned, which is a whole different level of good. Cheap, service is friendly , coffee was hot and fresh, never an empty cup.
**Side note** They also offer a breakfast buffett  on the weekends.
I do not understand why people don't like Andy's. Â The servers are a little wacky - but always polite... and I like wacky. Â It gives the place personality. Â The breakfast buffets are fresh and hot and delish. Â
I have never had a bad breakfast, lunch, or dinner there and I bring new people there whenever I can.
Food is well cooked, diner food. Â And if I'm going to a diner, I want a diner... darn it!
However - we went last night for dinner and dessert and my friend's cake had green fuzzy mold between the cake and icing. Â When she pointed it out to the waiter, he said that it was, "the green stuff you put on cake sometimes." Â
My cake was good, but it was a little unnerving.
Go for all you can eat brunch. Â It comes out hot and fresh, fast and furious.
I went specifically to try the breakfast buffet and was pretty disappointed. They kept running out of all the favorites so I spent half the time standing in line waiting for the refills. They didn't have scrambled eggs in the buffet (HUH?), but you could order them through your waiter. No idea why a breakfast buffet wouldn't have scrambled eggs as a feature... Anyway, the food was pretty good when I did manage to get some onto my plate.
Review Source:I had such a horrible experience my last visit to this location. Â We have gone here plenty of times and I have never been so embarrassed by an establishment.
I entered midafternoon to the the normal response of how many and to be seated. Â On our journey to the table, the host turns to us and looks at me and tells me I walked out on a check last week sitting at the bar. Â I have never sat at the bar. Â I explained it wasn't me since I haven't been there for 3 weeks. Â He continued to insist that I/ we did not pay a prior bill. Â This continued for another 5 minutes. Â He accused in such a manner that 15 people seated around us began to stare as he persisted and began to alter his story that is was maybe 3 weeks ago. Â Yet I have never sat at the bar. Â I have never been so offended by an establishment.
I've tried out this place several times as I live in Conshohocken and I'm kind of on the fence here. Â The food is decent, whether you are getting a breakfast plate or lunch sandwich, and the price is better than almost any other Conshy breakfast place. Â But, you pay for what you get and this doesn't have the 'made for you' feel. Â I'll still go here, but more often than not I'll support one of the other non-chain diners/eateries in the area.
Review Source:I don't know... I realize my tastes have changed since the time when I would find plastic "glasses" and mismatched prison-ware cutlery acceptable, so it's difficult to write an objective review. But I will try.
Andy's Diner, to me, is like something from Las Vegas in Conshohocken. Open 24 x 7 with a decor that is somewhere between tacky and New Jersey posh. For a moment, I felt like I was somewhere far from home. Even the other people dining there on the morning my wife & I went for breakfast, seemed like celebrity wannabes who were at the craps tables all last night.
I'd say, expect the basics in large amounts. You'll want to spike up the home fries as they lack seasoning and onions. The french toast will make you wish you ordered something else - and not just because it was accompanied by plastic tubs of "breakfast syrup". The florentine omelet was short of florentine. The "crispy" bacon... don't order the "crispy" bacon because crispy came out 2 levels past the crispy stage. Picture it suffering for long hours on the grill under the weight of a bacon press until it blackened. It was pained, dead & sad.
Ending on a good note though, the waitressing was wonderful.
Think of your local diner with everything imaginable on the menu. Now add to that a full bar. Really this place isn't that special. But the food is generous in portion size and decent meal.
I'm on a matzo ball soup kick and Andy's is pretty decent. The salads will feed a small army for days. And on the weekends there is a breakfast buffet for about 10 bucks that is a pretty sweet deal. All you can eat bacon? Yes please.
If you are looking for a solid place to have brunch on the weekend this is it. But be prepared for the post church crowd on Sunday mornings!
I give this two starts only because the yellow layer cake with chocolate icing was moist and really good. Â But, we ordered it to go because we wanted to quickly escape the memory of our dinner. Â Chicken soup tasted like MSG laden dishwater. Â Spaghetti was so institutional bad, even my husband didn't like it and he has a particular affection for what we he calls "good crappy pasta". Â Salad bar dismal. Â French fries not edible. Â When we stumbled upon this place were were stoked to find a new diner with wi-ci open till midnight. Â Now, we would like to erase the memory of our meal.
Review Source:I've eaten there twice.
The first time I got a veggie omelette with toast and home fries. It was alright. Nothing seemed to have much flavor (it wasn't even seasoned with salt and pepper) but it wasn't actually bad. The homefries were just slices of plain white potato with no salt; not even crispy.
The second time I went and got an omelette with mushrooms and spinach and it was just inedible. It was so undercooked that there was raw egg running all over the plate. I basically just ate the toast and some of the potatoes because I'm reluctant to send food back when I can't see the kitchen.
So I won't be back, because seriously, how do you screw up an omelette?
We had another great visit here last night. The service continues to be great, which is why they earned 4 stars from me.
Ordered the soup and salad bar and they restocked it while we were there so everything was fresh and good. The employees that work there constantly always come over to say hi and chit-chat with us which is also great.
We frequent this location probably every couple months or so, and always get good food and consistently great customer service. Two thumbs up for this diner!
(I'd say 3 stars for food, but 4 stars for great service!)
The front door layout is terrible. Bumping into people at the front of the restaurant, in order to pay is a pain, and the cold air let in by their poor design is very annoying.
I had a California Turkey Wrap and it was terrible. The turkey had some sort of crust on it or gristle, I don't even know, so I gave up. Fortunately it was cheap, so I didn't waste a lot of money on their bad food and poor layout.
Maybe I'm just overly picky but I find it hard to say I actually have a favorite diner. I have found that the food and service tend to be inconsistent.
Andy's is good-- good enough that we frequent the establishment on the weekends. The food as well the service tend to be consistent. Although crowded, they are organized and seat you fairly quickly. The all you can eat breakfast buffet tends to be the crowd favorite. If you are a fan of eggs you will find the fresh omelet station included with the breakfast buffet to be quite satisfying.
Overall, We find the drive from the city out to the burbs worth the trip. Plenty of parking, great food, and great service.
Faithful Dining Companion, Dearest Child and I went there for dinner on a Friday night. Â The decor is along the lines of 50's Hollywood, brightly lit with lots of granite to boot. Â We were seated promptly in a comfortably sized booth. Â Bonus for parents: they have things like MagnaDoodle boards for kids to play with. Â Nice touch.
Service was a little uneven, though our waitress herself was a pro every time she came by. She just didn't have her timing down, meaning we waited longer than expected for her to greet us, bring drinks, and bring check. Â Not sure if they were short staffed.
As others have posted, the menu is broad, making it possible for us to order Nachos, Chicken Parmesan and Slouvaki all at the same table. Â The Chicken Parm came with a salad bar and the Slouvaki came with a Greek Salad.
First, the Nachos. Came out wayyyyy overdone with the chips burnt and the cheese like tar. Â Another server brought it to us, and didn't seem to know how to react when I asked her if the chips were supposed to be that particular shade of brown. Â "I don't know". Â Uh, look at it. She just kinda left. Â Then our regular waitress shows up, immediately says "that's completely overdone, i am getting you another one now" and voila! in like 5 minutes a generous, decently done Nacho platter shows up. Â
Greek Salad was very good with huge chunks of fresh feta cheese. Â Salad Bar salad was, uh, wet. Â They need to find a salad spinner or a prep chef who knows how to dry lettuce. Â
Chicken parm and kid's spaghetti (with ONE average-to-small meatball, come on y'all, one? ) were also served with pasta not drained well so both our dishes had watery bottoms. Â The parm itself was huge and not bad. Â They, along with a salad spinner, need to find a good strainer or at least someone who plates with a teeny bit more care to what they're serving. Â It was NOT slammin' busy.
Prices are reasonable and portions generous. Â
I'm not sure we'll go out of our way to eat here again though as I felt the attention to detail wasn't there from the kitchen.
When in the Conshy area, Andy's Diner is my breakfast place. Â It is a rather large place and my first time I was confused that it was the place next door. Â I enjoy that this place is also a pub so the drinking can continue long into the night. Â And, sometimes, you just need to follow those nights up with some pancakes.
Review Source:Okay, so there's nothing glamorous about Andy's, but somehow it's still one of my favorite places ever, and not just because they're open 24/7.
I'm probably being a little generous with my rating because I only ever go for their soup and salad bar (the matzo ball soup is perfection), except on weekends when I indulge in their very affordable brunch buffet replete with omelet bar. I can't really comment on their regular menu, but for what it's worth, the boyfriend usually orders one of their huge breakfasts and he won't share.
The service has always been great, love the kitschy diner decor, and it's by far the best 24/7 diner for miles.
Just getting right down to it... not overly impressed. Â It's not a terrible place to eat, AKA I wouldn't kick and scream in the parking lot because Outback (across the street) was closed... like it seems they usually are. BUT, I wouldn't drive more than 5 minutes to get there either.
They have a very extensive menu, serve drinks and have clean dishes... but its always cold in there, the service is just okay, and honestly... I miss the Lonestar that it took over.
Normal diner food, and unless you're in Jersey, who can be picky?
A 24/7 diner with a full liquor license. Â It doesn't get much better than that! Â Diners with adult libations are rare in this part of PA. Â The lovely wife and I stopped in for lunch today. Â The parking lot is beyond huge. Â It's ginormous and that's convenient. Â The outside is quite good looking with lots of granite and stone.
We were seated immediately by a pleasant host. Â Our waitress stopped by after two or three minutes. Â First impressions were not good as she couldn't answer two basic questions about the menu. Â Luckily in this case first impressions were wrong. Â She was great throughout the remainder of our meal.
I tried a Cajun chicken wrap platter for $8.99. Â It was just fine with hot crispy steak fries and coleslaw. Â I ordered a Sam Adams draft. Â A 16 oz. frosty mug was $4.00. Â Not bad. Â The wife tried the weekend buffet for $10.99. Â The drink is included for that price and they will make your eggs any way you like. Â She created a large veggie omelet and pronounced it excellent. Â There were plenty of other mostly breakfast items to accompany it.
When we are in the area we would happily stop by again.
I love diners, in all their 24-hour glory. Places you can count on to provide sustenance when you most need it. But Andy's Diner & Pub didn't do it for me. The food was nothing special, and on the greasy side even for a diner. I'm guessing a meal there would vastly improve with copious amounts of booze.
Speaking of adult beverages, when I ordered a bourbon and soda, the waiter brought back a bourbon and coke. Being from the south, I forget that other places call cokes sodas. Oops. But they were happy to fix my drink order gratis.
Keep it simple, and you'll probably have a decent meal. I recommend keeping expectations in check.
I give Andy's a solid 3 stars. Â I like Andy's. Â I don't know why people always cry about it. Â For ten dollars you can eat enough to feed a small family. Â I've only ever eaten a gyro sandwich there but it's a good gyro sandwich and it comes with a greek salad for less than ten bucks?! Â Last night my uncle got penne with vodka sauce and the pasta was a bit over cooked but the sauce was good and the salad bar made him happy. Â The salad bar also includes soup (matza ball and others) and pudding. Â Our waitress would have jumped through a fire ringed hoop to make us happy. Â I say go there if you are just trying to have a normal meal. Â It is a diner for God's sake what can you possibly be expecting.
Review Source:I don't understand how this place gets such good reviews. Â I went here twice while staying in town out of pure desperation.
The first time I ordered a Rueben. Â Fairly straightforward stuff, but the sandwich was so tough that it was inedible. Â To top it off, our waitress was remarkably slow. Â If the place were busy I'd understand, but she was one of two, with only about four booths full.
Went back again because I knew of nothing else open. Â Had a turkey melt. Â At least this was passable food...hard to screw up a turkey melt (which is why I ordered it). Â It was completely lacking in any flavor but at least I could eat it. Â The down side...same useless waitress. Â The same horrible service.
The only plus side is I like the look of the place. Â It screams diner. Â Now, I know better than to expect much from a place like this. Â I'm perfectly happy to get a 60 year old hag in curlers who sounds like she's been smoking for 120 years and calls me "hun" to wait on me (in fact that's part of the charm), so long as the food is edible and I don't have to wait 10 minutes for a bill. Â Sadly I got the exact opposite here.
Stay away.
Great place to grab some food late night in the area! Â Food isn't bad at all. Â They give you a lot with the appetizers. Â Mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers really hit the spot after a long night. Â Service is quick, but maybe not the friendliest, but then again I wouldn't be the happiest fellow serving a bunch of intoxicated people at 3 am either. Â When all the food spots shut down around 11 in Chestnut Hill, I think I'll definitely be making my way out here for some grub again! Â I'll update after a few more stops in here.
Review Source:We went here at 10pm for dessert and a coffee. Not much else open.
First time at the diner. Very clean and modern atmosphere. I didn't check out the menu, just wanted dessert. Cannoli was good but was not filled as much as id like. Coffee was above average for a diner. My wife asked for a slice of pecan pie that wasn't previously cut. Lots of fresh choices here. Â And although she pronounced pecan wrong, she got the biggest slice ever. Waiter/Bartender was perfect. I'm big on good service, so that is a major compliment. He came back with an extra cool whip serving after noticing we were running low. Impressive.
I will def have to go back and see if their food is decent.
I haven't been writing reviews lately, but I really had to take the few minutes to write this one.
Andy's Diner is amazing, it goes above and beyond your expectations for a diner that I consider it a top notch restaurant.
What sold me was the selection of Greek food, the all day breakfast, the soup/salad bar and....the amazing dessert cakes and pies baked fresh daily.
I did not expect the steak and seafood to even be on the menu, but it was and it was so delicious for such a low price.
I will keep coming back here over and over again!!!
T and I stopped here for breakfast on Saturday in an effort to branch out and try new and exciting places for our favorite meal of the day.
Classic diner. Decorated in an old Hollywood theme of black, white and red. The hostess along with half the waitstaff still have their fresh-off-the-boat Greek accents. I need to ask my grandmother for some phrases so we can have an "in" with the diner owners! I ordered the classic, eggs with toast, hash browns and an English muffin. T got an omelet with broccoli (vile weed!), cheddar and jalapenos.
He really enjoyed his omelet. It was STUFFED with broccoli and yummy cheese and peppers. Luckily he likes things hot and spicy. My eggs were good, still a bit gooey which I kind of hate but not too bad. The potatoes ... they weren't bad but they had an odd taste to them. They might have been put on the flat top right after something. They weren't BAD but they definitely didn't taste like hash browns usually do.
Either way it was a great new place for breakfast. They had TVs set up so I got to watch some of the beginning of the Penn State game (I don't want to talk about the rest of it ...). When we were done we took a little tour of the bakery (mile high cakes) and the salad bar which included kalamata olives and dolmades (stuffed grape leaves). I know T wants to come back and put a hurting on those offerings ... I'd love to come back and try some of the classic Greek stuff. I bet it's delish.
This place has the most extensive menu of any diner that I've been to. Â The food is always consistently good and tastes very fresh. Â With that said, the food takes awfully long to come out but if that's the sacrifice for good diner food then it's alright by me.
The interior is pretty spiffy for a diner and every time I've been there, the place has been spotless. Â They have some outdoor seating if you are inclined to eat al fresco. They also have a bar and some pretty good happy hour specials during the week.
Without a doubt the best diner in the area.
Definitely going to be in Conshy for a long time. Not only is it just a plain good diner, it is open 24/7. Have made the stop at 3am and then at 9am on the same day. It has almost never disappointed. The selection is all diner food faves but they also have the bar leftover from the crappy H.I. Ribs and Crap. Hopefully this place will make 401 Diner close its "24/7" doors forever. Also it has a buffet on weekend mornings for 9.99.
They also have a similarly priced Lumberjack breakfast that cannot be tamed.
I was eager to try this place, as there is a lack of diner options in the area. Â I had never been to this restaurant in its former incarnation, so I had no mental conception of what it would be. Â
The decor was a little heavy on the marble. Â As in, there is marble everywhere. Â The place-mats are even ads for a marble business.
It was pretty busy when I was there, so my DC and I sat in the bar area. Â We didnt realize the bartender would be our waiter as well. Â While he did a decent job, he was obviously occupied with bar-tending, as well as physically separated from us by the bar.
The food was ok. Â Portions were generous. Â Prices were reasonable. Â The selection is almost overwhelming, so you are likely to find whatever you might be looking for.
I came back for a second visit about two months later. Â We were strongly encouraged to sit in the bar area, and we said no. Â We were instead given a very forgetful waitress. Â She seemed scattered and inefficient.
I had a greek salad and a gyro platter. Â Given the marble decor, I thought Greek food would be a good bet. Â I was right. Â The meat was tender and seasoned. Â The tzatziki sauce was creamy and cool. Â My only qualm was with the pita slices placed under the meat and fries, soaking up some grease.
DC had chicken marsala. Â This came with soup, salad bar, bread, and a vegetable. Â On top of that, the entree was large enough that he saved half for lunch the next day.
Overall, this is a pretty nice place. Â It's big. Â The menu is massive. Â The food is good. Â The prices are fair. Â The help could use a little refinement, but it IS a diner.
We have needed a 24/7 diner here for quite some time and it seems that we finally have one. Â I stopped in here with a friend and I got an order of pancakes and she got the chicken fingers with fries. Â My pancakes were okay but not spectacularly fluffy. Â My friend's fries were nice and crispy, but the chicken fingers were just okay. Â They could have used a bit more spice in the breading. Â Overall, the place serves its purpose, but I will be sticking to Minellas. Â The menu is extensive and there is free WiFi, but the food itself is not amazing.
Review Source:This is a GREAT diner, especially for a basic business breakfast. Â The food is awesome. Â I have been there a bunch of times already, always consistently good - the wait staff are really nice, the managers are even nicer. Â They are HAPPY to have you eat there - no greasy spoons here - this place is great - highly recommend it for breakfast.
Review Source:HORRIBLE!!! I had a western omlet that was pretty retched. The pepers werent even cooked and crispy, there were TOO many of them and the eggs had NO taste. The home fries also had no taste and were very bland. Even syrup didnt help them. Toast was soggy and the butter came out clumped and not even melted. I would never go back. Took like 10 minutes to pay the bill. I can only inagine the money this place spent on a liquor license and all the granite table tops. Longhorn and the Rib house didnt work in that location and I dont see this place working out any better, not with that food. If you want "diner" food your better off going to the 401, although thats if your desperate for diner food.
Review Source:Boy, has Conshy been in need of something like this. Let me just start by saying that I was in love with this place as soon as they knocked down H.I. Rib N' Stuff. Â That place was god awful. Â And like the previous poster, I also like to wait until a place has been open for a week or so. Â But seriously, a 24 hour diner that doesn't start with the numbers 401 (crappy diner in Conshy that claims to be 24 hrs, but is not). Â My girlfriend and I had to check this out immediately.
Â
Anyway, it didn't really matter that it was the second night open. Â There is a ton of parking and the place is huge, so we were seated right away. Â The bar section looks pretty cool, but we didn't sit there. Â HELPFUL INFO! Â domestic drafts $3, Imports $4, wells $5. Not too shabby.
The decor is well done. Â It screams "diner" with it's massive amount of granite, but creates a lounge atmosphere with it's olive shaped wallpaper. Pictures of Elvis, James Dean, and several loose instruments coat the walls as well. Anyway, to the food!
I ordered the Brooklyn Burger. Â Burger with swiss, shrooms, and bacon. It was pretty darn tasty! Just what I would expect from a Diner. The fries are steak fries, which made me and the little lady very happy. Â Hard to find good steak fries these days. We split mozz sticks (why are they always so damn expensive?). They were delicious.
Ma' gal pal had the chicken fingers with fries. HELPFUL INFO!! Chicken fingers are sold separate from fries, so expect to pay extra if you order this. Â The chicken fingers were a little overdone and they forgot to bring honey mustard. They were not the frozen type of chicken fingers, so if you like the frozen type as opposed to the homemade breaded type, don't bother. I think you chicken finger maniacs know what I'm talking about.
I would have given it a five, had we not noticed an trashy smell while we were leaving. Â If anyone has worked in or near a kitchen, you might know what I mean. Something that has to do with the dirt and trash a kitchen collects throughout the day. Â If they are able to address this problem in the future, I could change my rating. Â Maybe I just need a seat further away from the kitchen next time.
Overall, It has everything I look for in a diner.
-24 hrs
-Sugar dispenser
-decent coffee
-Menu with a ridiculous amount of options
-reasonably priced breakfast (2 eggs, hash browns, toast, and a meat: Â just under $7)
-Overpriced entres that you hope are made from scratch
-scrapple option
-Salad Bar
*Bonus--Bar
I plan to go back frequently and try out the massive menu.
Hope this helps!
Andy's just opened on Monday in the location that formerly housed the short-lived H.I. Rib (and Longhorn Steakhouse before that). I was unbelievably excited when I heard that we were getting a diner - and a 24-hour diner, at that! - near our neighborhood. Even though I generally have a policy of not trying a restaurant during the first couple of weeks that it's open (I learned that less with H.I. Rib), I was too excited to wait.
My wife and I stopped in last night, and we had a good experience (especially scaled to the fact that it was pretty much their first night open). My first litmus test comes early on in the experience: the quality of the iced tea (this is a big deal for me). Good Iced tea: check. Huge menu with choices ranging from a scrambled egg through a treasure trove of seafood (not that I would order the latter): check.
After perusing the huge menu, contemplating our choices carefully, then reevaluating their opportunity costs, we had our choices: cheeseburger and a BLT. Both were very good, but the fries really stole the show. They were awesome.
The waitress was very nice, and I liked that fact that, when I paid the bill up at the counter (like you do at most diners), other members of the waitstaff stopped and made small talk with me. I thought that was nice.
Anyway, Andy's looks very promising, and I am thrilled that they are in the neighborhood. Oh, wait, one more thing...they have a bar. Sweet.
