Ye Olde Ale House

Divey, dark, delicious. Hot, freshly carved kaiser sandwiches rock. Get 2, and a pitcher of coke. This is comfort food, and for some reason it tastes even better on a cold Sunday afternoon watching a Birds game.

Since moving out of the area, I can honestly say that this is one of the places I missed the most. This was always my sunday afternoon go-to place.
I happened to be out there today and went 10 miles out of my way just to stop in and grab two with American cheese, gravy on the side, and the outside (make sure you ask for this). The roast beef is still the best! All of my friends that I used to go here with are also out of the area, and all of them get jealous when I tell them I picked up a RB sandwich. I don't care what they say about Philly steaks or roast pork. I'd put these sandwiches up against either, and I lived in that area half my life to know. Oh, also...the bar is great to sit at and have some beers too...always friendly bartenders.

I went to lunch at this place two days in a row and I wouldn't mind going back for day three.  I'll probably get a salad today to try to regain the ability to button my pants but I would be remiss if I didn't upgrade this place to 5 stars.  It deserves every one of them.  As I've mentioned before, Aside from Nick's Roast Beef at 20th and Jackson in South Philly, this is the best RB sandwich I've had.  They are consistently good.  The place is no frills, with decor from the 70's and I hope they never change.
