My husband and I tried Angelo's for the first time a couple of weeks ago and we loved it! My husband had the tortellini and I had the carbonara. Â Both were excellent! Â The garlic rolls were hot and fresh from the oven. Â We also had the fried ravioli as an appetizer and it was great including the marinara sauce. Â Agree w previous post in that the salad has too many red onions. Â Based on our great meal we decided to go back a second time and were greatly disappointed. Â For appetizers we ordered the fried calamari and fried provolone. Â We were greatly surprised when they were served quickly within 3-4 min after ordering, which led us to believe they were either old or store bought from the frozen section. In either case, they both tasted horrible. Â My husband ordered the lasagna and I had the tortellini. Â The lasagna tasted like it was made w pizza sauce, not marinara sauce. Â My husband took two bites and could not eat anymore. Â My tortellini also tasted store bought and wasn't nearly as good as when my husband had it on our first visit. Â The garlic rolls however were still good. Â Upon leaving we asked the hostess if the regular chef prepared the food the second night, to which she replied yes both Carlos and Henses are always here. Â We truly believed our appetizers and the tortellini dish were not made from scratch as we were told the first night we were there. Â And my husbands lasagna would not even meet the standards of fazoli or Olive Garden! Truly we were disappointed, especially since we were thinking of bringing guests to this restaurant in the future. Â Since our first time at the restaurant was very good, we will give this restaurant another try, but if it is not good, then we will not be returning.
Review Source:I had a very mixed experience while at Angelo's. Â The staff was phenomenal. Â They were so kind and accommodating to my son's food allergy, and just friendly and attentive overall. Â If I could rate them solely on service, they would get a 5, but it's hard to overlook the food and decor. Â Angelo's poses as a "fine dining" dining restaurant, but they simply are not. Â The food is extremely bland and almost every dish is swimming in cheese. Â The decor is lacking. The salad is overloaded with onions and they use Good Seasons salad dressing...not my idea of fine dining.
Honestly, I feel bad giving them a low rating because they are so nice, but the food is pretty awful.
