Ill give it 3stars because it was ok.  Liked the decor and the beer.  Food was ok, I had thd fish and chips just because i was told that it was served wiyh the fullsize potatoes fries.  Wrong...regular fries, I felt like the pirtion was very small and with no taste.  I have been to england anf ireland several times and I must say a they should be ashame fir serving such plate.  My girl friend had a mash and sauces meal...fir the price I felt that I got mugged for $14.95.

If I came back it would be fir the good selection of beer not the food.

really enjoyed this place and can't wait to go back! they call themselves the only authentic irish pub in lancaster and while this may be a jab to the others, it really is true. the bar is a magnificent structure that looks like it was imported straight from ireland. ornate, carved dark wood with what seems like millions of bottles. plenty of beers on tap, speciality local and imports. the food was great too. i had a salad - i think it was southwestern chicken salad and it was honestly one of the best salads i've ever had. perfectly grilled chicken. DH had the shepherds pie and it was actually made with lamb unlike other local places. he loved their beer selection. the outdoor patio was hot midday but i can imagine it would oh-so-awesome in the evening.

can't wait for grandma to babysit again so we can come back here!

We were recently on a vacation back East.  Philly, then onto Lancaster County, PA, where we met up with my two of my siblings, one from Western New York State and one from Pittsburgh.  We are definitely a motley crew, and I am the "baby".  The first night we had dinner (all senior citizens, all of us, and as I said, I'm the "baby") we chose the easy way out and ate at Olive Garden.  You can't go wrong there.  The second night, I really wanted local flavor, and my brother was pushing for Red Lobster, again, the easy way out.  Well, I was just not having it, so out came Yelp.  (I'm sure sometimes they just hate how I get on the 'net and navigate some of these sites).

The very first restaurant listed was Annie Bailey's.  I then went to the menu, and it looked like a perfectly diverse menu, and the restaurant was easy to find.  So in we marched, all 6 of us.  Not a flinch at our advanced age, we were promptly seated and attended to by Anne.  And I actually got acknowledgements from both brother and sister as to the good choice!  We started off with fried pickles - can you imagine?!  They brought 6, so we could each have one.  The salads were good.  I had the tomato vinaigrette dressing, some had the white balsamic vinaigrette dressing.  Both dressings were excellent with just a slight bite to them.  Three of us at the table ordered Fish and Chips (normal for an Irish Pub and a family with an Irish background).  Can I say DELICIOUS in how many ways?  Scrumptious.  Finger-licking (except eaten with a fork), Amazing.  And the list goes on.  The others all had "small plates" and shared, and that made this a really great experience.  Something for little appetites, something for everyone.

Thank you, Yelp, for having this recommendation at the top of your listings, and thank you, Annie Bailey's, for keeping me on the good side of my siblings.  I can guarantee if it had been a failure, I would never again have been allowed to choose a restaurant, and would forevermore be destined to eat at Olive Gardens and Red Lobsters.  Not that there's anything wrong with that - but when you're in a new city, choose new things!

I'm still trying to figure out what makes this place Irish... The shepherd's pie is awful and tastes like it was thawed out to order and the drinks are overpriced.  You're better off at any number of other local spots.

My cousin (a local) took me here on a recent visit to Lancaster and I was impressed by the sheer size of the place. The food was pretty good too...considering that it is a pub and not a fine restaurant.

The pub's small street front opens to a large, well-appointed interior with a large bar and plenty of seats. A large outdoor deck, with another bar, provides more seating and an area to enjoy summer nights.

I had the boneless wings, which were better than average, and the fish and chips, which were fried to perfection and very tasty (but not heavy). I am told the Irish favorites, like shepherd's pie, are good too. The beer selection is respectable too.

We found the service to be above average as well. As with anything downtown, parking can be a challenge.

First, I'm totally surprised that I've never reviewed Annie Bailey's before this. I've been going there since they opened and have been there for food or just drinks more times than I can recall. So what a shame that this experience was my review one...

About a week before this review my wife called and spoke with the manager about booking a table for my kid's birthday (she's an adult btw). She explained that the first choice for the grouping was at a place, Tobias S. Frogg, which wouldn't take the reservation and would only seat out party when everyone had arrived, which killed the surprise aspect of it, hence, the call the Annie Bailey's.

During the week that followed my wife had two more occasions to call Annie Bailey's, each time she explained that this was a birthday grouping and, as she recalls, one time she spoke with one of the owners.

So, as it turns out, it's a rainy day. I dropped my wife out in front with the six cupcakes she had purchased elsewhere and I sped off to park the car in the city garage.

When i finally got the front door of Annie Bailey's my wife was there, distraught, as they would not let her in. They have a strict policy of no outside food and the six cupcakes violated that. At this point we're minutes away from the kid's arrival planned arrival so we have no way to change the venue. I go inside, talk to the manager, who had been a server there forever.  A normally decent sort but she was to have none of it. I asked to speak to the GM, she said the owner, Siobhan Keane would speak with me. Which she did. In all fairness, I don't disagree with their policy which, I am sure, especially in cheap ass, "I'm bringing a crappy Sara Lee birthday cake for our party of ten" Lancaster County, was probably crafted from long experience. But here's the thing, this isn't a terrorism policy. They're not saving lives, they're serving booze. A little flexibility would have been nice.

In the end, the only flexibility was that they would hold onto the cupcakes and keep them in the kitchen fridge, while we ate, and then we could take them out.

As you might imagine, this turned out what would have been several hours or more of drinking and fun into a kind of stunted, dinner and let's get out of here. The server, Jeanette, did a great job trying. Not awesome, but good. The place, when we arrived, was a tomb. When we left it was busier but still pretty mellow for a Friday night.

All in all, here's the thing, based on my previous experiences, Annie Bailey's should have gotten a solid four stars. Based on this latest, with one of the owners of the business, they're lucky to have received two stars.

If you want to have a decent meal and a cocktail, pay well but not through the nose for it, in a good surroundings, Annie Bailey's is a good choice in Lancaster. For any kind of event, steer clear of them and work professionals who can deal with half a dozen cupcakes without having a policy meltdown.

I'm kind of sad but in the end, there are lots of other choices where I can enjoy a thirteen dollar burger and not have to think how they humiliated us when instead, they could have been heroes.

Meh. I want to like this place so damn bad. The interior is great, and the service is usually really good. I have come in twice only to leave and decide I don't have much desire in coming back here.

In terms of the Irish look and feel, they have that down. But in terms of the food and drink, I'm let down. There are chain Irish pubs that do better. They have a limited amount of Irish food, and it's more like some weird American we think we're Irish pub. I'd much rather them make Irish beef stew than have a rotating risotto.

I will say their fish and chips is the best dish we tried. Still, I've had better (Garryowen in Gettsburg, for instance). Their fries are nothing special, fairly typical and possibly made from frozen. The onion bisque is interesting, like a creamy french onion. It's well spiced and the other thing I enjoyed here. Each time we tried a meat like pork or turkey, it just wasn't good. We actually downright avoided the pork and didn't eat a bite of it.

Their beer selection disappoints me a bit.  I had trouble finding a good beer last time - most were the typical offerings at every bar. Nothing special, nothing like the rave reviews of it being

For all the hype, this isn't all it's chocked up to be.

This is a great Irish bar!  Its large, well appointed, and the service is top notch.  I really enjoyed the outside patio area with its own bar.  Will warn you though, the stairs to the bathroom and even to get out of the joint is worthy of many a drunk stumble.

What a let down! This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and after reading all the great reviews on Yelp we gave it a try. We arrived for a very early dinner.  It was so early there weren't very many people inside. Despite how slow they were, they still sat us at  tiny table in the back of the restaurant??? Since we don't like to complain, we kept quiet and sat down.  We received our drinks right away and thought we were off to a good start. After placing our order, it took literally 50 minutes to get our food! The server apologized and we bit our lip and kept quiet. The food was good. I ordered the portabella mushroom sandwich and my husband ordered the bbq brisket sandwich. My fries were cold, his were pipping hot...go figure? The bbq sauce the server recommended for the sandwich was not on the plate...so there was more waiting. After being there for over an hour, the restaurant became more busy and we watched the server wait on other tables as we were neglected. No one ever came by to fill our water glasses.  We waited to receive the bill but finally were fed up and my husband had to hunt down our server to pay. We finally spoke and shared our disappointment to our server. She then admitted that there was a mix up in the kitchen and apologized half heartedly.  I understand things happen, but it was the way the server handled it.  We weren't looking for a comp meal but just good service. Not only did we have to wait due to the kitchen mix up but received poor service on top of that. What a disappointment...

Annie's was recommended to us by a bartender at our hotel and they were on the money in it's description. If you're a hophead like me (craft beer lover), this is the place for you. Not only was the craft beer selection huge and diverse, but the wait staff actually knew about all of the products! After ordering a Hopsecutioner, we ordered dinner and were NOT disappointed when they arrived. I had the pulled brisket sandwich which was delicious. Friends had the Shepard's pie, the polenta, the Classic burger and an order of calamari. The ONLY issue we had with any of theses meals was the odor of the calamari. While my friend said it tasted fine, we smelled the waitress coming our way with it while she was still 5 feet away.  The inside is huge and very nicely decorated. The outdoor patio is absolutely gorgeous and is where we would have LOVED to sit but every table was full. In all, great meal, great beer and a great time! Highly recommend!

My first visit was the other night and I must say I am impressed.
The interior is MASSIVE when compared to the front of the business.  The bar looked to be a mile long masterpiece of wood and brass.  Decor was a good match for an Irish pub.  My group was upstairs  and it was just as pleasant.

The food was excellent as well and I must add that I was with a large group that was served banquet style.  In my mind that automatically lower expectations somewhat because trying to serve 40 or so folks at the same time generally means that something is going to be sacrificed in the quality department -- not so here.  My food was hot, freshly prepared, and delicious.  The green beans had slivers of garlic and bits of red peppers mixed throughout adding more to the flavor profile, the mashed potatoes were piped onto the plate and at first bite were clearly homemade with a little more than a splash of cream adding richness, and the salmon was well prepared (fully cooked but not dried out) with a judicious amount of citrus glaze -- not too much, not too little.

The bar tenders were very friendly and had a good sense of humor.  It's great to receive service from professionals who actually like dealing with people.

I literally couldn't find a thing to complain about on this visit.  This place is a shining emerald in Lancaster city.  Try it, you will not regret it.

Went here on St. Patrick's Day.  We were seated in a timely fashion and the staff was very friendly even though they were obviously very busy.  My wife and I ordered the Fish and Chip and the Bangers and Mash and both were very good.  I would recommend Annie Bailey's for anyone who wants a great Irish experience.

Stayed at the Marriott close by and stopped in for dinner.  I love fish and chips and figured this should be a great place to try them.  I was right!  The fish was fresh, lightly battered and fried perfectly.  One of the best F&C plates ever.

This bar was a lot bigger than I has expected from the outside. Inside it was a was a happening place. A decent crowd of pretty drunken and loud people. Getting a drink wasn't too challenging and the prices seemed fine. My group and I took to the upper floor to escape the mayhem. Upstairs was some more space to hangout and relax. That's probably the best part of the bar. A good deal of room to relax and drink with friends.

I went to this charming Irish pub because it is a block away from the Marriott where I was staying, but I was very glad that I did. First of all, let me be clear about the best thing about Annie Bailey's other than the fireplace: $4 Jameson drinks at happy hour.

Now, moving on, I wasn't too hungry, so I chose the sauteed Maryland crab cake on top of a sweet potato hash. The portion size was perfect, it was healthy, and the taste was incredible. Huge kudos for the presentation.

Most items on the menu were under $15, and the beer selection was impressive.

    Finally, very friendly service!

Do not go here if you want to enjoy yourself. It is a very popular restaurant. I have no idea why Please avoid tripping, becoming light headed, or otherwise being human if you re-enter from stepping outside. The Tiny Men with a Little Power at the door will throw you out with no money, phone keys, coat - anything - just because they feel like picking a fight. The owner is worse than her trolls - and that's an insult to trolls.

Great atmosphere, awesome deck, awesome staff, great food.  Shepherds pie... mmmm..  A must have if you visit this establishment.  The parking is a little scarce.  You really do NOT want to park on the side streets.  The pub is well designed and has plenty of space and a huge back deck with bar and plenty of seating.  The inside bar is very large and there is seating all around it.  I would recommend bringing clients for food and drinks.

Nice atmosphere, great outdoor area, cute little fireplace inside and beautiful decor.  This place has pretty decent food, a great beer selection, and the service is usually pretty good....

It can get PACKED here on the weekends, and its a very college-aged, Abercrombie and Fitch/F&M crowd, with a lot of 'sausage'.  I'd suggest going for dinner and an early drink, if that's not what you're looking for...then head over to Dipco for a more diverse crowd, or out of downtown if you want something more quiet.

Well Annie B's, this is a place where you can eat and drink.  Some weekends, they offer bad live music, almost exclusively.  It can get crowded (with bros), and the corridor-like bar doesn't help.  If you're from the area, you will undoubtedly see someone you know, though whether that's good or bad can vary.  The prices are probably just a bit higher than they should be.

But the food is killer, the beer and drink selection is above average, and there's a big outdoor patio which can provide a nice place to enjoy such things.

I can't provide too much detail on the menu (I've been telling my servers to order for me lately, I simply can't be bothered), but I will say that everything I've had here has been far above average.

I most recently got the meatloaf, which could have fed half of Ireland during one of its famines.  I felt bad at how big and delicious it was.  What had I done to deserve such a thing?  The loaf was topped with stewed carrots and fried onions, perfectly mushy and crispy, respectively, and was ringed with a mountain of mashed potatoes, which were light, fluffy, and very tasty.  The loaf itself was exactly what a meatloaf should be, nothing fancy but so comforting.  The sauce was familiar but unique, sweet, and tangy but not overpowering.  The real kicker is that this whole concoction was on top of a thick piece of bread.  I mean, there's already bread in the meat!  ATKINS ALERT don't order this.

I also got some sort of shrimp appetizer (glutton) which featured 5 or 6 large shrimp on little fried potato medallions.  It was totally Irish-Fusion, and perfectly fine to eat.

All in all, I prefer AB's as a place to come enjoy a big Irish meal with some friends rather than cutting loose, though I've certainly done that too.

I SUGGEST: coming here to sit down and eat a meal; ordering an authentic Irish plate; avoiding Friday and Saturday nights.

I DETEST:  OAR covers; crowds; acquaintances.

Such a toss up on whether to give it 2 or 3 stars, but honestly, the food was very good, the service was just very bad. The place itself is huge, comfortable and charming with a fire-place inside and a large, inviting patio. We sat on the patio and it was the perfect evening for it. There's even a bar outside on the deck which is very nice.

The beer selection is great. All your typical Irish beers with selections like Dog Fish, Flying Dog and Stone mixed in makes me very happy. Wine selection is short but sweet and I didn't even look at the cocktails as I was craving beer, but that seems lengthy and full of options.

The menu is full of traditional Irish cuisine, pub fare and appetizers, all with modern culinary twists. We enjoyed the Flatbread of the Day - which was tender, pulled pork, caramelized apples, onion, Bourbon-Peach BBQ and cheese. It was very good and the flavors mingled together well.

Our entrees were mostly under the Irish Favorites category. Hubby had the Bangers and Mash, the bangers were cooked well with good crispness without being overcooked. His potatoes were smooth and buttery. The Guinness gravy and caramelized onion took the dish to another level. The Meatloaf was recommended to the table and was enjoyed - I tried a piece of it and it was tender and full of flavor, probably in debt to its' trio of meats being Kobe, veal and pork. I had the Shepard's Pot Pie in the "Petite" version (the petite being $13 and the hearty being $16). It was really delicious, and MORE than big enough for being "Petite" (I actually couldn't finish it!) The potatoes were perfect, it was full of flavor and better than your average Shepard's'.

The service, however, was incredibly slow, inattentive and even rude. Our waitress seemed to completely forget about us after our orders were placed, and it took about 40 minutes to wait for our check and actually pay. When I very politely asked our waitress for a lid to my mother-in-laws To-Go container because she didn't think she received one, she rudely snapped back at me that she did. Not a great way to treat your customers.

Annie Bailey's is my hands down favorite Authentic Irish Pub and Restaurant in PA. Their are so many elements and factors that make this place great it's really hard to cover all the bases in full detail with out writing a novel. They are in downtown Lancaster City which is packed full of stiff competition since there are so many great places in such a small area. Inside the Pub you will find the gigantic bar carved of rich dark woods that stretch down the whole length of the building. Beautiful furniture and hardwood floors with a huge fireplace complete the decor. The ceilings must be 20' tall and they also have an upstairs bar as well. There is an outside patio area with another huge bar outside that offers a great atmosphere.
The craft beer selection is here is massive. They are always getting in rare and the most premier craft beers from around the world. The bar staff and servers are awesome and aim to please. The food here is amazing hands down. Chef Tyler always has a star studded line up of remarkable cuisine that satisfies the most pickiest eaters to the passionate foodies that are always there. He also hosts themed Beer Dinners and Beer Pairings that are absolutely out of this world! Chef Tyler likes to come out into the pub and restaurant and interact with the patrons getting feedback and chatting about the latest additions to his menu. He is one of the most passionate Chef's I've ever met.
Annie Bailey's is a must for anyone that enjoys the comfort, coziness and casual atmosphere of an Irish Pub offering exquisite cuisine for extremely reasonable prices. The bartenders Frank and Ryan are great and ask for Claire if your going to have dinner. Also like them on Facebook to keep up with all of their upcoming events which are so worth it and truly unique! ~~CHEERS!

I really liked hanging out at Annie Bailey's, it's very welcoming and the bartenders are awesome.  I love old school, floor to ceiling, wooden bars like this one - it gives one the feeling that it's perfectly acceptable to drink here for hours - the bar stools are comfy too.

I tried an Irish ale called Smithwick's and it was very tasty, I'd highly recommend the beer.

The only downside is that the restrooms are down a long staircase.  Not conducive for those who are planning to tie one on.

Definitely the nicest overall bar in Lancaster city in this Yelper's honest opinion.

This can mean one of two things:
    1) It is a really nice bar...

    OR

    2) I need to get out more

For fear of putting my personal dignity and credibility at stake, I'll go with the former statement.  This bar is pretty damn legit in the fair city of Lancaster.  The place is freakin' huge.  I love the wood finish; additionally, the lighting during the evening hours is bloody brilliant, it definitely sets up a nice intimate mood if you're looking to impress a big city girl as a small town boy with some semblance of taste (despite the reality that this bar is far from esoteric... million $$$ word of the day).

All those kids you hated in high school all seem to show their ugly faces here during the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, blah blah); only thing you can do in such an instance is raise your glass and give the silent nod of approval; maybe they're not so bad after all, I mean they must have good taste coming to this place right???  The reality is that despite the lack of selection in Lancaster as far as nightlife goes, there are worse bars in the area one might frequent (even a Lanc Lanc bar noob like me knows that).

Annie Bailey's in is downtown Lancaster and what a real treat.   I went there with family for a quick dinner and left feeling quite content and pleasantly surprised.

The atmosphere is like a NY Irish pub with a big bar, lots of wood and live music.  Although they serve traditional pub fair it is more of a gastro-pub menu.  The short ribs were fantastic and the mashed potatoes had quite a kick with what I think was a chipotle seasoning.  The chicken pot pie was very good with a very flaky crust and finally the crab cakes were delicious with a bean side that just begged to be eaten.

If you are in Lancaster and want a great meal do not miss Annie Bailey's!!!

Even though we live about an hour away, we are finding reasons to visit Lancaster on a regular basis.  We can add Annies to that list of reasons.

We went on a late Sunday afternoon.  There were few people there since this was an "off" time.  It was around 4:30pm.  The bar and dining areas are warm and inviting, especially since this was the coldest day of the year and we had just walked about 2 blocks from our parking space.  We were immediately seated by a friendly server who said "we'll put you out front so you can have a quiet meal".  It was very nice.  We took the small table by the window, far from everyone.

My wife and I ordered the calamari.  It was some of the best that I've ever had.  The batter was light, yet crispy.  The calamari was tender and expertly prepared.  The light sauce on top made me forget about marinara.  I preferred the drizzled sauce, although the marinara was delicious.

My wife ordered the Soup of the day, a cream of vegetable.  It was very good.  She also ordered the Smoked Duck salad.  The duck was good and the blue cheese was delicious but something didn't gel for me with this salad.  My wife seemed to enjoy it though.

I had the Kobe burger.  The house-made boursin and caramelized onion was delicious.  The fries were excellent.  I'm sure this was US Kobe but it was prepared a perfect medium rare, like I asked for.

The menu is extensive.  They offer daily items such as a Risotto of the day and a Flatbread of the day.  Nice touch.

The beer selection is wonderful.  Lucky for me, they had just tapped a keg of Blue Point Hoptical Illusion, one of my favorite beers.  Not many places have this on tap and according to the server, they only get it about once per year.  They also have Magner's on tap, which has become my Irish pub staple (sorry, I love Guinness but I've had so much of that in my day that I steer clear).

Annie Bailey's is by far my favorite bar that I don't get to quite enough. The beer selection is wide, the drinks are fairly priced as well. There's always some sort of special going on to keep you there as well. The deck out back is a great spot to relax in the heart of downtown Lancaster.

Occasionally there is a live band that plays on the lower level of the bar. They tend to cover popular songs, as well as some cool original sounds as well. The upstairs part of the bar is less crowded than the main floor, and is probably a safe bet to get some drinks quickly.

The crowd there is generally friendly and pretty chill. I've never seen people get too out of hand there, compared to some of the other bars in the area. The bartenders are great and the bouncers out front are cool guys as well. It's located close to Yorgos and Marion Court, so it's no more than a few steps away from other spots as well.

Great place to go for a fun night out with friends, without having to deal with obnoxious people. Although it can get pretty crowded on the main floor, there are options to move to less populated areas of the bar.

    Annie Bailey's is typical.

...the decor is reminiscent of every other "Irish pub" you've been too. It's clean. The waitstaff is friendly. It gets a little noisy, but nothing too boisterous - even if you're on the other side of the bar, you can still hear the live guitar player AND your conversation.

...the dessert - some sort of chocolate cake/mousse concoction - was good in that sort of typical way.

...but what's ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSIVE is the tap list. Annie Bailey's has Lindemans Framboise Lambic ON TAP, which is pretty atypical, and a really nice addition to the typical Guinness and Smithwick's...and this is what gets Annie Bailey's four stars instead of three.

The pub has a nice atmosphere.  We were seated inside and were here for dinner.

Guinness was poured correctly.  We both had the fish and chips and they were very good.  3 pieces of cod and a heapful of nicely seasoned chips.  kudos for having malt vinegar already on the table so we didn't have to wait or ask for it.

3 stars b/c the service wasn't very good.  My menu didn't have the specials included and so I didn't know there were any.  Waitress didn't check on us after the food was brought out - finally came and brought the check.

Excellent selection of beers on tap. Mixed drinks/cocktails are a bit pricey and I'd expect better for the price but they're acceptable. Food is maybe a step above one of those suburban chain restaurants and about the same price, so, expensive, but at least you're supporting the city's economy.

Place is always packed (mystifying, to me-- it's good, but it's not great), often to the end that you get crappy service or it's just impossible to get a bartender's attention.

My mom, stepfather, grandparents, husband and I came here for dinner the Friday after Christmas.  It's a really nice place -- nice bar area, great menu, good music.  The restaurant area can be a bit loud, which was a cause of consternation for the older generation (the ceilings are high and the high spirited Friday night crowd was fairly loud), but this is a laid back place.

They had a nice selection of beers and a decent selection of wines by the glass.  After the nonstop gorging of the holidays, I was ready for lighter fare, so I had a glass of wine and a caesar salad with chili-lime shrimp.  My husband had the Irish burger.  My stepdad and grandmother had the fish and chips (my grandmother kept marveling that they "weren't greasy") and the fish and chips passed muster with my British stepdad, who kicked back several Harps.  My grandfather had pub fare, but I can't remember what (just that he enjoyed it) and I think my mom had a salad and an appetizer.  Everyone left very happy and very full.

Prices are reasonable.  The pub/Irish menu is lower priced than the restaurant menu, but for the portion sizes and the part of the country, everything seems very reasonable to me.  I'd definitely come here again.

There's a nice patio on the back that looks like they seat there when the weather is nice.
