Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar

I recently had a bad experience here.  One of the servers had an attitude problem, and she was very unprofessional and unattentive.  Which is a shame, because I had been a customer there for years, and I loved going there to be served by the likes of Ian (great server).  I'll lay low for a while.

This is a nice location, much better than say University Circle location.  I think this is a notch above the Lyndhurst location, on par with the Westlake location.  But then, it is Applebee's so don't expect mom's cooking or anything extraordinary other than swollen salt fingers the next day ;)

I have always been an Applebee's fan for quick homestyle food. I have enjoyed meals at many locations in several different states. So when my husband and I were headed home after the Moondog Coronation Ball, we stopped at our favorite restaurant and it was closed for the night, and I suggested the Applebee's across the street. We knew they had the new late night hours and were VERY hungry as we had not had time to eat before the concert. BAD IDEA!!!
They had the usual bar specials, but we were looking for a late dinner. We asked the waiter if there were any menu restrictions, due to the late hour(just before 11pm) and he enthusiastically replied that we could order anything from the standard menu, and listed the specials.  We both ordered the Crispy Orange Chicken(Which is one of my standard favs at Applebee's, and I have had it many times). We were sorely disappointed. It seemed to us that they had run out of the regular ingredients and had tried to improvise. What we got was some deepfried chicken nuggets with very few veggies(my plate had ONE piece of broccoli) and a ton of dry chow mein noodles and almonds. I want to emphasize the word DRY. The rice was awful , like rice a roni awful, and there was almost no sauce on the chicken which made the whole entree have a consistency that can only be compared to munching on a plate of hay. Our waiter spent most of his time in the kitchen, while the cook(I assume that's who  he was by his attire and the fact that he came in and out of the kitchen) spent most of his time at the bar. I realize that we DID go in late, and that there are different standards to be expected that close to closing time(I believe they close at 1am now), but this was by far the worst experience I have ever had at this franchise and we will not be returning.
