I live in Chicago. Â I've lived in Indy and Louisville. Â I've traveled to 48 states and several countries. Â For my money, this is the best pizza! Â When a menu includes such standouts as ground pepperoni on a crisp, thin crust, the Stromboli & Texas BBQ sandwiches, and the Junior salad, it is hard to justify eating anywhere else in Lafayette (espec. if you are an ex-pat, like me).
Review Source:Being from Lafayette, IN this is my husband's favorite pizza. Â He talks about it like it some mythical substance. Â When we come back to visit his family I swear we plan the Arni's dinners as much as anything else! Â
According to the hubby and the father in law this one used to be the "best" Arni's because of the ovens. Â I guess they renovated awhile back and it isn't the same. Â
We always get a large pepperoni. Â It is square cut so the outer edges are a bit easier to eat than the middle pieces which tend to be gooey. Â It is very thin and crispy pizza and the pepperoni are diced (not sliced) - which I like. It is also extremely greasy pizza -- which I don't like. Â
To me it is just pizza. It is unique because of the diced pepperoni and the way they cut it, but it doesn't haunt my dreams and call me back for more! It is just OK! Â
Service was great here and there is plenty of parking. Oh and if you take out they put your pizza in a bag, not a box. Â You'll see....I think it's weird, but I guess it works!
I don't why they say "Best pizza in Lafayette" for anyways. Because they are certainly not! I have been here on a number of occasions and notice several things. The service is always slow, the pizza is way too greasy, never been a fan of thin crust pizza's (especially ones with too much salt on the crust), also the waitress's seriously need to brush up on their people skills! Â The salads were also a bitter disgrace, I mean come on that thing was mostly meat and cheese. I won't set foot in this place if I could ever help it. In my honest opinion grocery store pizza's are better than what these guys have to offer!
Review Source:Arni's is a Lafayette institution and I've been coming here since I was a little girl. Â This is the go-to place for out of towners. Â My older sisters drive straight to Arni's when they visit from Texas. Â They've even asked us to bring pizza and salads with us on the plane when we visit them!
The food here is pretty good, but not outstanding. Â They have a pretty good variety of pizza, sandwhiches, burgers and pasta dishes. Â I love to order their Arni's Junior salad and have a piece of pizza when I go.Their pizza is crispy thin crust, which isn't my favorite but people go crazy for it. Â
My favorite place to sit is the Toy Room, the right most room in Arni's. Â It's decorated with toys and even has a miniature train set that runs around one of the room. Â This place is great for kids (and maybe not so great for people like me who don't like dining around kids). Â
All in all: a great place to try if you're in Lafayette!
I enjoy their pizza's. Mostly the thin crust pepperoni. The pepperoni is not traditionally sliced. Instead it looks like it has been shredded in to small bits. Very tasty! Their salads are also very tasty....and normally large. I tend to make it a Jr. sized portion.
They also serve a variety of starters, sandwiches, soups, pastas, hamburgers, and etc. Worth a try
My all-time favorite eatery. I've lived all over the country, but whenever I visit my hometown of Lafayette I MUST stop at Arni's. (My family jokes I visit to go to Arni's, not to see them.) I love their Arni's Junior Salad and pizzas. Nobody has a crust like Arni's, or that incredible salty greasy ground pepperoni. It's a great sit-down family restaurant, with waitresses I still remember from my childhood! (I'm in my 40's now).
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!
I don't know what it is about this place. It's like all the negatives combine into a positive. You walk into the place and the first thing you see is the takeout pizza counter with a bunch of guys making pizza and sliding them into ovens in a mesmerizing display nothing short of ballet. The pizza is made on pre-fab dough circles slathered with tomato sauce, seasoned cheese, and toppings right to the edge. The pepperoni is ground and as greasy as it gets. The subs have thin slices of ham, bologna and salami piled high with mozzarella cheese. (Arni's used to be affiliated with the Pizza King chain, but broke away and have their own regional chain of restaurants, yet retained the same style of pizza and subs.) But this place sells more salads than pizzas! The Arni's Jr. Salad is a a local legend. Chopped iceberg lettuce piled with cubed ham and turkey, sliced radishes, green onion, and more of the same mozzarella cheese they pile on the pizzas. Your choice of dressing served on the side as it should be. What sets Arni's apart from many similar pizza joints is the expanded menu that includes a selection of open face sandwiches, one of its well-kept secret offerings. The place also has legendary service and waitresses work there for years because of the good pay, good tips, and good benefits offered by the management. There are three dining areas. The family dining room has been recently remodeled. A second dining area is decorated with old toys and is a fun place to take kids. The third dining area is a bar. The place is always busy and always crowded. You can find a lot not to like about this place, but it's also a great experience and in the end, you won't be disappointed.
Review Source:Was in town for work and this place was recommended by some friends. A little skeptical about going for pizza when it seems like there are so many good middle eastern places I decided to trust their advice and am SO glad!
The pizza was wonderful! I got a 10 inch with the gluten free crust and you would never have known the crust was gf. The pepperoni was crumbled with the perfect amount and the pizza was just plain old fantastic.
I live in Chicago and when I visit family in Lafayette I always make sure I stop off at Arni's for an Arni's Jr. salad and a pepperoni & sausage pizza. They are both so delicious, I really wish I could find a pizza place similar to this in Chicago. I seriously crave this stuff.
Most of the toppings are ground up fine and spread accross the entire pizza from edge to edge. There is little crust on the pizza and they're cut in magnificent squares of yummyness.
While the classic pepperoni & sausage is my favorite, the deluxe and bbq pizzas are equally fantastic. Don't pass up the Jr. salad either, piled high with little bits of ham & turkey, cheese and some of the best homemade dressings I've had. The Jr. salad is big enough for a meal on it's own.
I've tried a few of the other offerings here, and while they're pretty good as well, there's nothing quite as good as an Arni's pizza and salad.
After moving away from W. Lafayette, I now realize how much I really miss this place. Nowadays, I opt to split an Arni's Sr. Salad with a friend, then split a 10" pizza. Â I recently paid homage here right before Halloween, and it seems like they're doing a much needed renovation at this location.
Review Source:If you are from Lafayette, you don't need to read this review you already know about Arni's. Â If you don't know about Arni's, you should know I'm biased to like it because I live in Lafayette.
I honestly am giving four stars for the arnie's junior salad. Â I'm not sure why I like it soooo much..I think it is because there are little slices green onions. Â I personally prefer my salad sans meat, because I am scared of cubed ham and turkey. Â The pizza is a thin crust Pizza King style pizza, which is pretty good but not ground breaking.
I have to admit that every pizza place I've ever been to in my adult life has been held in comparison to Arni's. I grew up on Arni's and I know everyone always says whatever pizza they grew up on is the best, but in this case it's 100% true.
Arni's is thin-crust, cut into squares, and is very generous with the toppings. Greasy as all heck so definitely not good for you in any way, shape or form.
Every year or so when I travel back to visit the family Arni's is either my very first stop or it's a place I go to shortly after I get there. If I could figure out how to have my dad ship me out a fresh Arni's pizza I would probably have to do it every month or so. Best pizza in the WORLD, hand's down.
I'm new to the area, and new to old established places with great food at great prices. Â I was sent on a mission to KFC, but as we discovered the local chicken place closed, so we made the decision to try Arni's.
I was delighted by the friendly service at the take out counter! Â I wanted an Italian Beef (I love Chicago style), and I ordered the closest thing. Â The boss wanted a big cobb salad.
The food was delivered to my very comfortable waiting area promptly, and I was delighted by the customer service.
My sandwich was great! Â It wasn't chicago style, but that's okay we're in Indiana!
I loved the taste of the food and the customer service. Â I highly recommend this restaurant!
pizza is great, in decently small portions but it has a great taste!  the crust is crunchy, and the toppings are plentiful.  if you aren't much of one for this type of pizza, they also have sandwiches and other entrées to order from.  the salads are surprisingly good (because i seldom tend to enjoy salads).  the reason that i gave it a four is because of the small portions and sometimes the restaurant seems smoky on the inside.
Review Source:Maybe I'm spoiled having moved from Lafayette to NYC, but even when I lived here I thought the pizza was a joke. The pizza is basically just a round piece of cardboard that is then cut into squares. I don't know if people in Lafayette have never had 'real' pizza before, but when I've described Arni's to people elsewhere they literally start to laugh, and rightfully so.
If you want good pizza in town, head over to Bruno's. Although pizza shouldn't be cut into squares, I will give them a pass.
The pizza here is so good and addictive. Â I've made my parents ship it out to me in California, and I hear that Axl Rose does the same thing. Â The pasty tomato sauce, the perfectly flexible thin crust, and the copious, finely chopped toppings... Â It's a lot like Pizza King, but less crude. Â
The strombolis are not as good as the Pizza King in Delphi, which has the best stromboli on the planet (whatever that's worth). Â Only the Texas BBQ here has any zest.
My boyfriend is from Lafayette and he loves this joint. It is one of the places he and many of his friends "have to go to" when they visit the folks in Lafayette. We all have our special home town favorites. Our waitress told us that "So many people stop here on their way home from the airport before they even get to grandma's house!"
Their pizza is this crust and is cut up into little squares which is good for sharing. There aren't many exciting options on the menu (but I know I am spoiled since I live in SF) and there is not really anything "healthy" except for a plain salad.
Might as well forget about calorie counting and get a stromboli or pizza.
"Meet ya at Arni's" is their motto. Â Have fun! Oh, and beware... they have not banned smoking in Lafayette yet, so if you're a non-smoker definitely sit in the non-smoking section!
