DH and I have been fans since this place opened. Â Skip, Tamara and the staff provide excellent food at reasonable prices.
What impresses us the most is that none of their stuff is Sysco stuff out of a can or frozen food bag. Â Their fare is fresh and home made, including the real Caesar salad dressing made from scratch.
While there menu is not particularly large, they do tend to offer specials, mostly on the weekends (Prime Rib on Fridays, etc). Â I especially like their Ashlawn Grilled Chicken Salad and their salmon.
Be sure to try their creme brulee, which is made with a hint of lavender and absolutely delicious.
Now if only LMOA (the landlord) would renovate the dining room area for them.
Our wedding reception was hosted by Skip Alston and his staff years ago, so it was natural to return for our anniversary. Skip and Takers went all out for us, from organizing a special floral arrangement through a delicious main course to a chocolate dessert. Â Truly a special effort on a special occasion.
Review Source:I gave this 3 stars, which reads "A-Ok" which is exactly how I feel about this place.
I LOVE the outdoor seating. Â The wait staff is very helpful and nice.
The problem is the consistency of food preparation. Â First, their menu is small and never changes. Â Ive eaten here for 2-3 years and its always the same menu.
Second, the food is very hit or miss. Â Sometimes you'll go and the food is beyond excellent. Â Sometimes you'll go and the food is disappointing. Â The salmon is almost always quite good. Â The steak last time was very overcooked. Â I ordered it medium rare and got a steak that was medium well or well done.
I think if you go earlier in the evening you get better service and better food, as it typically services an older crowd.
The restaurant oversees Lake Monticello and is located inside a gated community... Â pretty cool place to visit and the drive there is very scenic...
the food is simple but great! Â salmon is best seller and they ran out of it.... sad.... but i got the prime rib and it was pretty decent for a place that is in the middle of nowhere...
rice is affordable and the view is awesome. Â Came here after visiting Ashlawn highlands... well its like 15 mins but definitely worth a visit!
