I live in the neighborhood, and I went to the Aussie Pub last night for a couple of drinks. Â It is what it is: a dive. Â And, it's the kind of dive that I like: a real dive, not one of those hipster-filled trendy dives. Â This is what I call "an old man bar." Â It's the kind of place where you go for cheap booze and maybe someone interesting to chat with. Â They had $2 wells and $2 domestic drafts. Â There were a couple of regulars there at the bar while I was there. Â I have no idea how long one of the fellows was there, but it must have been a while. Â He was drunk, but not obnoxious. Â It was an OK experience, and was exactly what I'm looking for when I just want to knock back a couple.
My one complaint: it's called The Aussie Pub, but I didn't see any Australian beers on tap. Â I think they should get Foster's on tap at least. Â But, they have Anheuser-Busch products on tap, so I just drank Bud. Â Because that's what you do in a dive: you drink cheap booze until you've had your fill and then you go home.
