Avenue D Jazz & Blues Lounge

These are the types of places you live to find in Miami.  When you enter the nondescript entrance you almost feel like you're forgetting to use your secret knock and password to gain admittance.  The long, luxurious leather banquettes and scrolling wooden bistro sets are the perfect atmosphere for a jazz lounge.  Every detail from the brass fixtures to the polished dance floor speaks to the old world glamour of tango lounges and speakeasies from days gone by.  Avenue D pairs authentic, sophisticated entertainment with your favorite libations for a true taste of Miami's heat.

Knowing this place exists fills a hole in my heart because for some unknown reason jazz venues are nonexistent in Miami. This truism sucks.Hard. But Avenue D is giving me and other jazz/blues/live music enthusiasts hope!

We came on a Saturday night to scope it out, not knowing who was performing (we later found out it was La Lovo who seem to be one of their staple performers). Truth be told, I'm a sucker for almost any type of live music. But the performer when we were there was wonderful - along the lines of Norah Jones. We sat at the bar enjoying her renditions of jazz standards and ordered drinks. To round off the experience we ordered an appetizer.  Our first choice was not available (can't recall the option) so we opted for the brie plate -- nothing out of the ordinary here. Simple and good.

Honestly it made me a little sad to not see as many people at the venue simply because I think the atmosphere is great. If you're looking to try something new, enjoy a drink and some great live music Avenue D is the place to be.

This is a great little hideaway in Miami for some music, drinks and nice atmosphere.  The key will be what acts they can consistently book and the right marketing.  They have a little hidden gem now that needs to be known about.
