These are the types of places you live to find in Miami. Â When you enter the nondescript entrance you almost feel like you're forgetting to use your secret knock and password to gain admittance. Â The long, luxurious leather banquettes and scrolling wooden bistro sets are the perfect atmosphere for a jazz lounge. Â Every detail from the brass fixtures to the polished dance floor speaks to the old world glamour of tango lounges and speakeasies from days gone by. Â Avenue D pairs authentic, sophisticated entertainment with your favorite libations for a true taste of Miami's heat.
Review Source:Knowing this place exists fills a hole in my heart because for some unknown reason jazz venues are nonexistent in Miami. This truism sucks.Hard. But Avenue D is giving me and other jazz/blues/live music enthusiasts hope!
We came on a Saturday night to scope it out, not knowing who was performing (we later found out it was La Lovo who seem to be one of their staple performers). Truth be told, I'm a sucker for almost any type of live music. But the performer when we were there was wonderful - along the lines of Norah Jones. We sat at the bar enjoying her renditions of jazz standards and ordered drinks. To round off the experience we ordered an appetizer. Â Our first choice was not available (can't recall the option) so we opted for the brie plate -- nothing out of the ordinary here. Simple and good.
Honestly it made me a little sad to not see as many people at the venue simply because I think the atmosphere is great. If you're looking to try something new, enjoy a drink and some great live music Avenue D is the place to be.
Well this took a while but I found it. It is By Macy's, a block further South than "Kork Wine and Cheese' Â In plain daylight once you know where it is, and you WANT to know where it is.
Why: Finally a Jazz/Blue Venue, cozy tables, amazing Sushi, Smoking Hot Waitresses in these killer sparkley black skirts, but I digress.
A great Date Place, not so much a Single Mingle. Cozy tables, great drinks, and oddly Amazing Sushi. Try the 'Jazzy D Roll' it just was a party of taste, smoothe Avacado and peach, I know but it works. We started with the California roll and once that was eaten and so tastty, we had to try more! Â Sushi and Blues/Jazz Live Music, how cool is that.
This is a new Venue, barely open and you can be in the 'In' Crowd.
Ladies dress Warmly, it is a bit chilly.
And dare I mention 'Carmella' our Waitress, Â you Rock my Dear.
I love this place. The Band is 5' in front of you, not to loud, just right and it feels like  a "New Orleans' Jazz Bar.
So: Great Music, Great Sushi, Great Drinks in a New Orleans Blues Feeling Venue. Definatly check it out!
who doesn't like live music with wine, beer, liquor... forget it about crazy tourist place at south beach, most they were not welcome with local people... yeahhh SoBe you can ripe off all tourist visitor and don't need to worry about the services.
this local place, just open recently at downtown, very unique and artistic place for whoever can adore music.
need place to hang out and relax in neighborhoods just walk in. cheese, humus, sushi, valet parking, friendly staff are available here...
Wonderful new jazz and blues lounge that will hopefully bring some life into downtown Miami. Went to see a friend play jazz, got there a little early and caught the end of the previous group's set, and loved it. The atmosphere is great -- it reminds me of a speakeasy from the prohibition period. Drinks are a little pricey, and they are still stocking their bar, so they may not yet have what you want. But, the live jazz is amazing!
Review Source:Latest addition to Downtown Miami's historic Central Business District. Â Amazing transformation of old Burdine's west building. Â Live jazz - special events! Â
BTW: Â Avenue D is the original name for Miami Avenue, just north of the river. Â The club is bringing great new energy to where it all began.
Recently attended a private party here for artists and they definitely showed us a good time.
The building is a little difficult to find considering it is buried on a side street in a part of town that really doesn't scream to walk around alone at night.
However when your inside you see beautiful art and architecture that really invites you in. A large stage to watch the live performances and acoustics that really let you experience the show. I don't know if the food we had was or is available regularly but I do know it was delicious. The ceviche had a small problem and that there wasn't enough for me to keep eating all night.
The only thing that went wrong that night was they lost the key or the person who had it for the cigar case didn't show up until the party had ended and almost everyone was leaving. I would have loved to be able to enjoy a cigar with my wine but alas it didn't happen.
