This is, hands down, my favorite bar in Hayward! Â I make a point of introducing friends to this place at every opportunity. Â It's small, it's friendly, and the security team makes sure that anyone wanting to start trouble doesn't have the opportunity to finish it. Â Lauren is quite probably the best bartender I've ever met, and Merelan (their newest) is sweet and super on top of things. Â
This is not the place to go if you're looking to dress up and act aloof. Â This is the place to go if you want to sing your face off with people who will clap no matter how you sound and get served by bartenders who remember you and your drinks. Â Friday and Saturday nights they have karaoke and it is always a blast.
Even though I no longer live above the B Street bar, it still always feels like home. It is a step above a dive bar (in a good way). It's warm and friendly and unpretentious. You can feel the good will in their kareoke nights, which I don't participate in but don't bother me in the slightest. The bartenders are all good people, and the owner of the place, George, is a great guy as well who cares about his patrons. He also has a fairly new place next door that serves basic breakfast food. I like that they have tables to sit at when you're in a group, and their women's bathroom has always been clean. It is also downtown Hayward's nearest bar to bart, so it's a great place to stop in when you're on your way in or out.
