Wow reading the bad reviews scared the crap out of me for trying this place. I have been watching it for some time because like Janet I too have been looking for a place with a good thin crust. Know don't get me wrong I love a good deep dish and I have my times when just about anything called Pizza will do but with my wife it is another thing.

Came here on a hot Sunday and sat next to the window watching everyone bake outside and see the kids run in and out of the water feature and we decide to try Tiffany's Favorite. Tomato sauce, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, pineapple, cheddar and mozzarella cheese. We had them hold the tomato sauce and put garlic sauce in its place and add tomatoes to it.

It was not bad ! no burnt crust so they must be watching all of the reviews on it and the fresh mozzarella was great. We also had a Caesar that we split between the two of us and the server did it right by placing it on two plates with some fresh shaved cheese on both. He also came by and brought us out extra tomatoes as he thought they could have put more on than one per slice.

Overall I think it was a good experience and I would try them again.

This is one of those cases of a business getting in the way of a potentially superior product. At the bones of it, the pizza is actually quite good.  Nice crispy chewy crust that you can only get from a wood burning oven.  Good list of creative toppings, and the price isn't that terrible, but it's not great either.  They run coupons a lot in the local mailer.

Why such a low review?  One major offense that I wasn't willing over look was that the pizza was dirty.  There was a layer of soot on the bottom of the pizza which left our hands black.  It left a slightly bitter taste on the crust, but the appearance was the worst of it.

I've been to this place three times and only have eaten there once.  The first time was the opening month.  And the wait was so long that we just didn't want to wait any more.  The third time we were seated, then were never acknowledged by the staff.  Must not have been that important that they get our business then, so we walked out.  It wasn't even that crowded either.

Unfortunately it will be a while till we give them a chance again.  Sorry guys.  Get it together.

Nice people, awful food. My boyfriend and I went to the West Linn location on Willamette drive. We both ordered salads and shared a pizza. The side salad was $5  and cafeteria quality- wilted iceberg lettuce that tasted like it was sitting in a fridge for a week. The pizza was awful as well. The crust tasted like a saltine cracker and the ingredients didn't taste fresh. I have to say it was the worst food I've had in a long time. Don't waste your money.

I had a pretty good experience here, which is why the other reviews I'm seeing on this place are a little surprising.  I came here before a movie with my girlfriend to get some pizza and a few beers.  We waited about 30 minutes to get seated, which is usually a good sign.
After being seated we were taken care of fairly quickly, and had our drinks and menus in hand promptly.  We ordered a pizza, can't remember which one, but the pizza was pretty good.  It seemed like an old Italy, artisan style pizza for a fairly decent price.  Our service was great from our hostess, server, and food-runner.  The manager even stopped by our table and introduced himself and gave us a card for a free appetizer next time we come in.
I feel like I walked out without paying an arm and a leg for some decent food, good atmosphere, and good service.  The location of this place is also really great.  They are located right next to a water reservoir in the Progress Ridge shopping center, and right below Cinetopia.  I love the warm atmosphere of this place.  It makes me want to stop back in for a few cocktails at the bar during a happy hour, and I probably will:) They have plenty of TV's to watch the game from just about any table.  It looks like they also have outside seating overlooking the reservoir during the warmer months.
    It's worth checking out!

We phoned for a pizza to pick up on Sunday night. A woman took my order and my name, but didn't ask for a credit card or confirm the order and said the pizza would be ready in 15-20 minutes. When I arrived, another parties was waiting to be seated. A couple of employees came by and didn't say anything. Finally a woman seated the party. A guy in an apron came by and asked me if I had been helped. I said "no" and he walked away. Very nice. The woman came back and I said I was here to pick up my pizza. She looked at the screen and said she didn't have any record of my order. Then she said "Wait a minute" and took off. I waited for more than a minute then left.
I've had similar bad experiences at other Progress Ridge restauants where there is no one at the front area. Just another reason to avoid chain restaurants.

This place was great!  My new favorite happy hour in Beaverton.  The patio is really nice on a warm sunny day and is right next to a very pretty fountain (but expect for it to be filled with frolicking children.  We didn't mind).  I ordered a pizetta and a cosmo and both were quite good  My friend ordered the mac and cheese and seemed pleased with it.  She also ordered a margarita from the happy hour, with came in a full sized glass and was perfect.  The highlight was the spinach artichoke dip which we ordered to share.  It was rich and gooey with melt in your mouth chunks of artichoke heart.  This is a great happy hour to stop in at before catching a movie at nearby cinetopia, but is also worth the journey on it's own merits alone.  The service was very friendly and accomodating, even fetching umbrellas for the tables that asked for it on a hot sunny day.   We'll definitely be back!

Do not order the fish and chips here!  Chips were okay but the fish was beyond horrible....not only was the outside not crispy, it was strangely elastic/rubbery in texture.  The fish didn't taste good either.  My husband thought they cooked it then microwaved it.  My salad was good and the sliders were decent but nothing spectacular.  I took the lettuce garnish from my husband's plate to dress up the sliders which were just meat and bun.  My daughter ate her pizza but commented on the slightly burned crust.  I don't think we'll be back for a meal - too pricey for what you get.  It looks like the happy hour food prices are more reasonable for what you get. No wine specials for happy hour though.
The booth walls are tall for privacy but I felt like I was sitting in a wood tub.  I never got a feel for the layout of the restaurant.

We came here for a bite before a movie. We got seated right away but the service was slow. The guy making drinks couldn't make a proper Black and Tan for my husband ( on St. Patrick's Day Weekend). I watched as he tried making them and then dumping them out. The food was okay but took too long to get. Onion rings and spinach dip shouldn't take long in an empty place

As for the food, the dip was good but its hard to mess up. Some of the onion rings were a bit undercooked.

It was convenient at the time, but I don't think I would make a return trip here.

To be fair, a friend and I chose this place solely for the name.

There were no BJs nor were there willys, and the drinks were weak.  On the plus side, David was very attentive to our needs and did not seem to mind that we occupied a booth for several hours without ordering food.

To the poor fella who spilled garbage juice all over him-  I'm sorry.  I'm sure you do not get paid enough to endure that kind of humiliation.

To Molly-  Give back the hat!

I wish it was possible to give 0 stars. This place is horrible. The pizza was burnt on the bottom and outside, raw on the inside and middle. It took 20 minutes for the waitress to get 2 beers. Our appetizer showed up well after the pizza and they were stunned that we didn't want it anymore and tried to not take it off the bill even though we sent it back. How can a pizza place not make a decent pizza?  Seriously, this place just sucks. Nothing else to say.

Was excited to try their wood fired pizza.  The pizza was quite pricey for what  you get.  It was good but not $20 good.  We ordered the swiss cheese fondue with soft pretzels and I could not believe that the pretzels were the ones you buy at the grocery store and then microwave.  They didn't even have salt on them?!?!?

The kids pasta was cold and yucky.  My $8 salad was the size of a $3 salad.  The server was decent but could not overcome the terrible and over priced food.  I won't be spending my money here again and think they will be out of business before the year is over.

Hubby and I had two 10" pizza's.   He had the Fire Pie and I had the Blind Onion.  I added some rotisserie chicken to mine and he added some more veggies to his.   The dough however lacked any flavor and reminded me of a saltine cracker.  I expected  garlic flavor from the blind onion since it had a creamy garlic sauce and roasted garlic.  I walked out with no garlic flavor in my mouth and I like garlic so I wanted that pizza to be very garlicky!!!  Very expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!! We spent $49.00 total on two pizzas, a happy hour drink and two beers!    Very loud and noisy atmosphere, it was echoing like a warehouse.  I heard music in the background sometimes.  Kids being loud and obnoxious.  Waitstaff was meh in attitude.   Definitely won't be back!!!!!  Can get a nicer meal for that amount of money elsewhere.

Food is pretty good. Loved the wings. Way better than say BWW. Service is stupid slow. People are nice here. Probably would give another chance since we liked the food. But Pizzacato still better than this place. Good kid menu. Prices reasonable. Solid 2.5 stars.

I went here for the first time tonight with my boyfriend, and we were very disappointed! We had high expectations, as this is a nice area but let me tell you....don't waste your time or money here!! Bad service, very unfriendly staff, nasty food, dirty utensils, the list goes on.

My wine glass had lip gloss on it. Gross! I ordered a veggie sandwich, and it came with literally nothing but bread, roasted onions, and two brussels sprouts. I had to ask for a side of pesto just so I could get it down. My boyfriend ordered a pizza and was not impressed at all. Considering the name of the place includes "woodfired pizza" you'd think they'd try a little harder to make the pizza appetizing.

    Our server was unfriendly......
Let's just say we definitely won't be coming back here! Don't waste your time unless you enjoy bland food, staff getting your order wrong, unfriendly servers and an unclean environment!

Oh where to start?  I wanted to go to Changs tonight, but my 15-year-old stepdaughter suggested this place instead.  We decided to give it a try because she raved about the food.   When we got there the hostess/waitress seemed less than excited for more visitors and kindly seated our party of five at a table for four, with an added chair on the end.  Never mind that there were numerous booths in the vicinity, she seated us next to a lady with a kid and stroller who were kindly crammed into the corner.  I could have asked for a booth, but two of my party wanted to watch the game on tv and the table allowed them to do so, so we stayed put.  I was irritated that she didn't ask for our seating preferences after arguing with the hostess in front of us as to where they would put our party.

After placing our order we waited a LONG time for our food, and the restaurant was not busy.  We were there on a Thursday night at 7 pm for heaven's sake, but still we waited probably 30 minutes for our food to arrive.  I ordered the steak salad and I honestly wish that they would have just forgotten my order.  My $14.99 "steak" salad arrived on a bed of romaine with chopped tomatoes and FOUR pieces of overcooked steak--probably less than 2 ounces of meat.  Everyone else in my party ordered sandwiches that were loaded with meat, but the steak salad did not see that much action.

The service was slow and "douchy" (a term I saw in another review that I thought nailed it on the head), and to be honest, it really hurt to give a 15% tip (that's 10 bucks I'll never get back; however, since the service wasn't HORRIBLE I didn't feel okay about undertipping.)

There was a positive in the experience.  I have three teenage kids and they all devoured their meals.  These are also kids who devour McDonald's, so take that for what it's worth.

Basically, as the grown up, my rules for dining out are that if I am going to PAY someone to cook me dinner it damn well better than something I can make at home.  Seriously, the steak salad at Sheri's is consistently WAY better than this sorry excuse for a salad.  I will not be returning to this establishment, I would suggest that you do not waste your money their either unless you are feeding teenagers who are refusing Carl's Jr., but don't expect to be happy about paying the bill.

Only yelp could capture this place so effectively:

    Meh. I've experienced better.

BJ Willy's is a very corporate, chain type restaurant. But it doesn't even do chains justice.

The pizza we had was plentiful..plentifully disappointing. No but really, you'll get full, but the quality is not what you want. Yes I am speaking for you. It's just not what you want.
It's not greasy. If that's all you look for ..then go for it.  And toppings a plenty.

Not really worth continuing. This place is edible for more money than you want to spend.

Conveniently located near a movie complex, we stopped in for dinner and our visit was well-timed; we were promptly seated at a booth. Service was attentive and pleasant. I ordered meatballs and a soft drink (driving). It is unlikely that I will order meatballs again, but that is a matter of preference. A customer at a nearby table was very pleased with their pizza. I was pleased with the service, seating and dining environment.

My friend face planted on their floor...

My friend face planted on their floor, so the first thing on my mind was get her out of the restaurant. I left my debit card there and they forged a 20 dollar tip on a 60 dollar tab - who tips that much for a 60 dollar tab - oh that would be the server to himself. The signature is a crooked line - NOT my hand writing! It's total FRAUD. I called and talked to the owner Josh and he said, he'd look into it and call me the next day - no call. I even called today - he still hasn't called me back. Bad Business practice. They are lucky there's not a law suit being filed,.. YET. Apparently this won't print unless I give them a star rating,. but there's no negative 100 stars,. so I am regretfully having to give them one star - even if I don't want to.

First time, bad experience. Salads brown and slimy. Was told they opened up too much salad in the morning, what ever that means. They brought similar salads back so we picked out the bad pieces.
Pizza was good but the salads along with having to remind them when I need more to drink will make this my last time. I wish we would have read the reviews before we ate there. I said goodbye to the 6 7 servers standing around the greeter station doing nothing on my way out. I wonder if anyone from management reads these reviews. I can't image this place will stay open very long.

I wanted this place to be great...wood fired pizza, after all, is one of my favorite things.  Unfortunately, this place fell flat on many levels.

    Pros:  they serve beer

Cons:  long wait times for a table and for food.  Poor, unattentive wait service and really bad, expensive pizza.

Seriously, a Margherita pizza has only four main ingredients, how did they manage to screw them up so bad?  Tomato:  the sauce was like eating a can of three day old tomato paste.  Basil:  chopped to holy hell and not visually appealing at all.  Mozzarella:  not so bad, but nothing great.  Crust:  hard, dense, heavy...like microwave pizza.  So bad.

The other pizza, I forget what it was called, had large globs of goat cheese (ew),  huge clumps of sun dried tomatoes (ew), and what I was told was prosciutto, although it looked like shredded deli ham.  Not to mention the same failed crust.  Horrible pizza.

The decor seemed ok, although there were a bunch of neon lights that were not turned on (sad) and a wine cooler near the back that was completely empty (sad).

Again, the service was really bad, and it didn't help that we waited forever to get our crappy food, and once we ate what we could, we waited an extra 25 minutes before we flagged our waiter down to get our check.  It was very irritating to wait this long, and meanwhile in the pizza kitchen, three "chefs" we're spending their time checking their phones.  Sigh.

Overall, I was very disappointed in the service and the food and will most likely not return again unless I'm ordering something fried or just grabbing a beer.

Went here after seeing a movie, and I was pleasantly surprised.  I thought the food was good, and the service was quite good.  Our server kept coming to us to make sure everything was OK.  I shared a 14 inch pizza with my husband and it was big enough for leftovers.  The crust was a little burnt, but it didn't seem to matter we still kept eating.  I had some wine at the movie, so I didn't need an more, and just had water.  The server kept filling u my water as I drank it, and she also refilled my husband's diet coke, so we were quite satisfied.  If I am at the movies, I would go there again.  I don't always like pizza because it is so doughy, but the wood fired pizza had a nice crust to it.

You would think with pizza being in the name they could at least make good pizza but sadly that is not the case. I usually will eat anything but I just couldn't eat it. I think when a restaurants menu is all over the board it's hard to make anything good.
I felt it was overpriced as well.
We did have a super sweet waitress though.

Nasty food... We were so excited to eat outside by the fountain but the food was disappointing. Salads are made with slightly stale iceberg, fast food quality.
The pizza came with gloppy chewy cheese. Just awful.
My son's piece of pizza had a chunk of blue plastic baked into the crust. The waitress just said "oh sorry" and that was it.

Food is somewhat overpriced and extremely salty and cheap tasting, "Heinz" ketchup bottles were refilled with crap knockoff ketchup and the Noise was unbearable. We ordered a Pizza and club sandwich. The pizza wasn't bad, but the sauce was a bit to overpowering and sweet, nothing fancy. We will not be returning to this restaurant. keep reading to find out more.

    turn off  #1.
We ordered the olive and flat bread plate as an appetizer and could not finish it because the flatbread was so salty.

    turn off  #2
The Club sandwich was the absolute worst club I have ever tasted. Low quality meat and nasty american cheese, all of the ingredients seemed very processed and just not good at all.

    turn off  #3.
The French fries that came with the sandwich, (which you have to pay extra for) were so unbelievable salty I could swear I felt my blood pressure going up as I ate them.

turn off #4. (this was a huge turn off for me) The bottles of ketchup are labeled "Heinz" ketchup but are actually refilled with some form of nasty tasting lumpy knockoff ketchup, I was appalled at this and quite frankly it pissed me off.

    turn off #4.
The restaurant is extremely loud to the point that it was uncomfortable and annoying.

*Save yourself the disappointment and go to "Ava Roasteria" next door for a really good, fresh, quality ingredients sandwich in a quiet upscale caffe setting.

(note) I'm not affiliated with "Ava" in any way.

Not wanting to eat at Cinetopia before a movie, I hit up this place for dinner.  I sat at the bar with my husband.  It's a busy bar, but we still got good service for eating there.  They had a drink menu somewhere, but we never looked at it, since the bartender said the drinks weren't very good and asked what I liked.  He came up with some sort of drink similar to a pina colada on the rocks.  It wasn't the best drink, so i'm still curious what types of drinks were on the drink menu.

We also had the 10 inch pizza, which was pretty delicious.  it might've been sitting for awhile, since it wasn't piping hot when it was brought to us.  We also had an entree sized BJ salad.  The ingredients were fresh, but was one that I could make at home easily.  I didn't even want to know what we paid for all of this, so I let my husband pay.

I don't think I'll be back here again.  There are other restaurants in this complex that are better and its a drive from where I live.

The service here is really weak, sitting in the bar is the best shot if you can find a seat.  The food is great but if you sit outside the bar we are finding a long wait time and not good service.

With a name like B.J. Willys, I was a bit hesitant to go in. I expected this place to "blow". The name itself is screaming to be made fun of-so how good could this place really be? Not to mention it is located smack dab in the middle of yuppy "family-land". Fortunately, (for this review), I just had a baby and needed a place to go on one of the hottest days yet this year that I could have a beer and sit outside with my fiance and little one. They have prime outdoor seating for people with kids. Let me emphasize this point. People WITH KIDS. If you do not have kids, I hope you are tolerant because there is a marvelous fountain 10 feet away for kids to play in. It gets busy, and if you are sitting in the outdoor section, kids will be running by you throughout your meal. I thought it was great. Pre-kid, I would have been a bit annoyed.

Ok, enough about the name and outdoor seating. No drink menus, so the poor waitress had to list all 15 or so beers offered, and by the time she was through wit her list, I forgot most of what she had told me so I settled for a wonderfully strong Long Island (GREAT if you don't have/don't like kids and are sitting outside). We waited a bit too long for our appetizer (Garlic Cheese Bread). It was cheesy, but not that garlicy. The cheese was a bit "rubbery" but I am thinking that might have been because it was woodfired? I am not an expert on woodfired food yet. I'd probably order that again, but not after I tried all the other sides first. Then our pizza came out. We got the 10" Italian. The ham was burned to a crisp on the edges, possibly another woodfired effect? I would have preferred it not burnt, but it was good none-the-less!

The staff seemed a bit "douchy" (I'm talking about the men). One was even singing some sort of R&B love song that I am hoping he thought no one would hear. He had a good voice though, just not the right time and place for love songs. I have to give him credit though, he was good looking, had a great voice, but was totally awkward with his customers! He tried way too hard and seemed like he was almost flirting with the female at the table (who was most certainly with her husband). I did like our waitress though-she thought our baby boy was adorable, so she got a good tip.

Price was way too high. Our 10" slightly-burnt pizza was $15.99!!

OK, so forget all my sarcastically honest humor, this place was good and I'm going back. I forgot to ask if they have a full bar and if what kind of shots they make. Maybe next time I'll get a BJ for old time's sake and take it with no hands from between my fiance's knees!

I love the concept & really want  to see this succeed as it is in my backyard.  It is located in the trendy Progress Ridge shopping area  (It's right across from Big Al's - which I am also set to review soon).

The development houses a bunch of nice little shops, a Cineteopia and a New Seasons as well as, well, a bunch of places I haven't gone to quite yet.

I have wavered between 2 stars and 3 stars because if you compare this place to the  other places nearby (Big Al's, Vinetopia, Fudruckers and such) it is the cream of the, er, crop.  Don't forget this is a pricey part of Tigard/Beaverton being the back side of Bull Mt.  I've tried it a total of 4 times since I began this review (I am fast to try it, slow to write it) and I am definitely sure it is......DRUM ROLL.....between 2 and 2.5 stars.

Darn it!!  I see so much here, want to be more than just the DUCHESS of this place at 4 measly visits, but I can see they need to address some important things.

1ST VISIT:  My fiance and I stopped in for a mid eve dinner (715pm).  Professional and attractive staff.  Bustling night with sun peeking in the floor to ceiling windows that face the reservoir.

1ST IMPRESSION:  SOME SERIOUS MONEY WAS PUT INTO THE PLACE

We were seated close to a sunny window - a too sunny window if you can believe that - so bad I had to ask to be moved as the shades didn't block the sun from the table.   No biggie, still quite excited to be here.  The manager tried to pull down a shade, but it didn't cover any of the light, so we moved.

Menus were presented, choices were perused and eliminated.  Quite pleased with the menu, though some descriptions were a bit vague (weird flatbreads).  But the choice for starters was done - Bacon Wrapped Chorizo Filled Jalapenos won out!   The price was a 12 dollars crazy for only 4 of these tasty (HOT) treats!  Still, would pay the price to enjoy them again.  The cider/balsamic reduction that is drizzled over these little babies is really yummy, too.  Wow, this is looking pretty decent.

I asked the friendly (but quite new - 2nd day) waiter if he had any recommendations, but he was unable to help.  So I went with a Chicken Marsala with fresh roasted veg and pasta.  The dishes both were well presented and freshly made. Too bad his arrived 5 minutes before mine.

BUT - It looked so good I forgot all about the delay.

Let me tell you, the veg part of my dish was incredible - fresh brussel sprouts (I adore!) mushrooms and more seasoned and roasted to perfection.  The chicken was cooked perfectly - tender & moist - and it was such a let down that the Marsala sauce was SO sweet (waaaay waay too much Marsala) such that I was not eating at all and my partner was thoroughly enjoying his.  I tried to just eat it but I could not.  Dan asked for the manager (same guy again) and I explained my predicament -the very excellent quality the side components of the dish, but it seemed that no one tasted the sauce before it was sent out.  The manager said he was a trained chef and he knew that their sauce was too sweet - ? - if you know why wouldn't you change it?

However, he was apologetic and the second order I placed was good - fish tacos - fresh, flavorful - quality, but not fantastic.  Price were uneven - some too high, but service was friendly.   We overall had a nice night and if I had written my review then I would probably have given it 3 stars.  But, instead, I went back again 3 more times (I so want to like it, I really do) and each time there was some LARGE oversight mixed in with otherwise good things. (LARGE OVERSIGHT examples:  Sitting in bar and being ignored by 3 employees and 1 manager to the point that I had to get out of my seat and walk the five feet to the bar to place my order!.  Diff visit - waiting 15 minutes for a takeout box for my leftover pizza and being given a tiny box that wouldn't hold 1 piece?  I had to wait another 5 minutes for the correct box.   A seeming inability to pull off one service for me and my dining companions (a varied group) without some sort of hitch.  Each time it went terribly wrong I ended up talking to the same manager - who acts like he's never met me before?

I get the feeling that the manager/staff could use some training and a lot more spot checking (tasting - please taste) would really help this place reach it's potential.  If they got it together I can easily see a four star rating, but I find this place frustrating because I see how much money and time the owner has invested and the lack of polished execution is what will keep it from succeeding expectations.    Please pay attention to the details.  They really are what make or break you.  Given the price point, the consistency and service needs to improve.

Came back here, ONLY with the intention of having drinks. The poor hostess did not have good front desk manners. We were told they couldn't seat two tables at once, even though we pointed out that there were 6 empty tables outside where we requested to be sat.

A waitress stood next to her confused. We took a pager and were told it would be ten minutes but it beeped before we walked out the door. Was that really necessary?

We were seated with a menu that didn't even list if they had soda, let alone a drink menu. When our server came, without water, we asked for a drink list and the poor young man clearly had no previous experience as a server.

Instead of just saying 'Sure' and bringing us the wine list, he asks what kind of drink list we want and there's a lot of 'uh.........um.........' and he tells us how the beers rotate so there is no list but if we wanted he could tell them to us. Could he not have just brought the wine list and said 'the beers on tap are X, Y, Z and the bartender can make anything you like.' Seems simple, right?

As soon as he walked away, we got up and left the patio. Apparently this place isn't good for food OR even JUST a drink!

The first thing I need to say about this place is that it is a RIP-OFF. If I was reviewing on...

    price/value alone: 1 star.
food quality alone, isolated from price: 2.5 stars.

I've was teetering on 2/3 stars for my review, because the interior and location is pretty nice, and at least the service I experienced on my visit was very attentive. Overall, this place probably deserves 2.5 stars, but I don't think that the value and quality here is good enough to warrant a full 3 stars.

Let's talk about price: $20 for a 14" pizza. This might be the smallest 14" pizza I've seen, and with it's thin crust certainly the least filling. I'd call it a *slightly* over sized personal pizza, and I think most guys could easily (and I do mean easily) take down one on their own. For $20. That's some expensive pizza.

Now if you know Portland, you know of the pizza gods in Portland: Apizza Scholls, Wy'east Pizza, Oven & Shaker, Pyro Pizza, Ken's Artisan Pizza, Give Pizza a Chance, Escape from New York Pizza. ALL of these spots listed (even the least of my favorites on that list) offer MUCH better pizza for MUCH cheaper.

Sure, we're in Beaverton, not the food utopia that's known as Portland. OK, fine. If you're used to pizza in this area, BJ's is better than Godfather's or Domino's, but ranks below someplace like Bellagio's or Pizzicato. However, they charge more than anyone else (even Pizzicato), probably because they use a wood fire oven and have a nice interior. But in my eyes, it doesn't justify it.

Reading the reviews, I came in with pretty low expectations, thinking my pizza would be a burnt, tasteless mess. This was not the case. We had a group of 8 people and all the pizzas we ordered came out with an appropriate amount of crust char (remember, this is wood fired pizza... some crust charring is normal). The flavor was nothing special and nothing to write home about, but I didn't leave feeling like I had a ton of complaints. It was just average pizza. Don't take that as a compliment though, because it's pretty hard to mess up pizza.

I will say that Pyro Pizza in Portland offers very similar wood fired pizza that is WAY better, and gives you a similar sized pizza for less than HALF the price. Granted Pyro is a food cart, so if I compare to the very cool and classy sit down Ken's Artisan pizza, you get MUCH better wood fired pizza in a MUCH cooler environment for $11-$13/pizza. And Apizza Scholls, who has arguably the best pizza in the entire NW, serves up a massive pie for $20 that simply kills BJ's in both the quality & quantity department.

Which really just begs the question, why are they charging more than any other pizza place in town for mediocre pizza? Why are they charging more than the BEST pizza places in downtown Portland, and why would I ever want to come here and drop $20 on a small, mediocre personal pizza?

Oh, and side note: from our group of 8, I head second hand that the non-pizza items were not very good. One friend (who has VERY low food expectations and loves suburban food chains that I think suck) commented that their burger was disappointing. Which means I would probably hate it with the passion of a thousand firey suns.

Oh, and random 2nd side note: for a big restaurant like this, why do they have a one-at-a-time guys bathroom (and a TINY girls bathroom). Seriously? What is this, a coffee shop? There were 4 people in the hall waiting to use the restroom on a weekday night when the place was half empty. I'd hate to have to take a pee here on a Friday night. Come on guys.

We live within walking distance of Progress Ridge, and were very excited to have a new place to eat.  We walked there last week wih our neighbors for happy hour, and were were unimpressed.  They didn't have a beer listing, and with 12 beers on tap it would be nice to be able to look at all of thim in a list.  The food was okay, not bad, but maybe a little overpriced.

Today, my husband and I ordered a pizza to pick up. WAY overpriced.  The pizza definitely wasn't worth $20.  And, we ordered extra sauce, which could not possibly have been executed, there wasn't even normal sauce on there.
we also ordered the flatbread with roasted garlic and brie.  The flatbread was under cooked, as was the garlic.

The restaurant's website has no way to leave feedback.
I don't think it is likely we will return.  I just don't perceive any value for the money.

Bottom line at the top - A good alternative to Vintopia if your in Progress Ridge to see a movie and has one of the best fondues outside a fondue restaurant.

My friends and I were planning to get to the pub for the happy hour on Saturday before our movie but were there at 6:04 and the staff said the computer is programed to stop HH pricing on the dot. When asked how long to be seated in the normal restaurant area it was the typical 40 min that has been quoted to many other reviewers.  The server was quick to mention with the end of HH there was immediate seating in the bar area.

Once we all got seated the waitress was over for a drink order and to answer any specific questions. One of the first bar orders was planters punch, a drink much more famous on the east coast. The drink was unknown to the bartender who was then asked to make a fruity rum based drink and did a great job on putting something together.

For our meal we tried the Chicken Caesar Salad, Ridge Burger, Pesto Pasta, and the fondue with sausage. the Caesar had a good volume, was well dressed, and the chicken was just about perfectly done. Ridge Burger came with sweet potato frys for a little extra and tasted good. Pasta was served in a wide bowl and had a good amount of sauce for well prepared pasta.

I would recommend this place for the items we ordered, I have not tried the pizza yet so cannot comment about that yet but we are planning to go back to give them a try especially when waiting for a movie.

Wood fired everything isn't the ticket. Actually it has limits.  I scanned the menu for something good, the pizza selection was esoteric and not up my lovely date's alley, so we ordered separate. I chose the wood fired meatball sub with tater tots and she ordered the chicken parmesean.  Standard fare like this shouldn't be too hard to successfully reproduce.  We waited for our meal and chatted, but there weren't any complimentary bread sticks or anything, just an empty table, so minus points for that. When our food finally arrived, it looked ok, the cheese was nicely melted, but the bread on my sub was burnt.

Read my lips BJ Willys - Burnt cheap bread sucks!

Back to the yelpers - the meatballs and the cheese was good and I just left the bread.  Amazingly my tots were falling apart.

BJ Willys - How hard is it to dump the bag into the deep fryer?

My date's meal was in similar condition.  Chicken parmesan shouldn't be burnt, but hers was.

It's a good thing my date loves me, because picking BJ Willys wasn't winning me any points.  Fuddruckers is in the same shopping center, just go get a burger instead.

    It's a 2.5.Good call Yelpers, I agree.

We headed here for lunch after another perfectly lovely movie experience at nearby Cinetopia.

I saw yummy pizza on Food Netowrk with Guy Fieri and Pioneer Woman over the weekend, and was kind of craving the stuff. But I live on the West Side. This is a conundrum.

    Try a new place?

    Ok.

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we wanted to eat outside, so approaching the patio, I asked a server if we could sit at an empty table. No, he said, you have to go in through the hostess station. So we took our limping child ( in an air cast) through the not so close front door, and asked the hostess, she said, well maybe... but... by the time we got near the patio, another family had snagged the last open table.

Sigh. This made the princess a bit tearful, and the husband launched into grumpyville.

There were empty tables parked next to full ones ( two two tops together, for two people?) so they could have made some arrangements for the three of us, but they didn't offer, and I was tired of the rejection.I didn't push it. We sat by the window. Eventually (near the end of our meal) they opened the sliding doors, so we did finally get our nice air and sunshine, but it was a tad late at that point.

Our server was a nice young man, he was fine.

It is really really noisy at this place. Between the bare floors and walls, the ginormous loud televisions, the music, the clattering of dishes, the yelling of friends greeting each other, my husband couldn't hear anything and it made for a difficult lunch.I wouldn't recommend taking people who have trouble with ambient noise.

That said. Kid ordered kid's menu nachos, which turned out to be a small pile of chips with melted cheese, a few black beans and a dollop sour cream ( which came with a sprinkle of olives, although not mentioned on the kid's menu), and applesauce, and a beverage for $4.99 even though the kid's menu said $5.99.

If you're going to put olives on a kid's item, you need to mention it. Seriously. Don't do that.

Husband and I shared a City Slicker pizza ( 10 inches). It had proscuitto, goat cheese, fresh mozzarella, basil shreds, pesto sauce, and sundried tomatoes. Allegedly there was roasted garlic, I think... I didn't see any. It wasn't bad. It wasn't great. I think the proscuitto was added after the pizza was cooked, which was unexpected, and the basil leaves were a bit weedy, cut into shreds instead of torn whole like we'd do at home... we love basil, we found that part kinda unappetizing. We also shared a small Caeser salad, which was heavy with dressing, and had some cheddar cheese on it... I don't think there was supposed to be cheddar cheese on it, but husband thought they did it on purpose. The dressing was just ok.It wasn't a beautiful salad. It sufficed.

The iced tea was very good, and they brought us refills when I asked. Princess' chocolate milk was fine.

All in all, we might come here again... but we might not. I don't think it's a bad place, when it emptied out a bit it got a little quieter and was more pleasant, especially when they opened those sliding doors. I could see how a beer or a glass of wine would help, too.

Still searching for artisan, thin, crispy, lovely pizza.Like we had in Rome. Like we had at cheap, run down places in Rome.

I think I might have to make it.

    Pioneer Woman posted her recipe.

Came here for HH for the first time and it was...ok. The selections on the HH is limited and ranges from $2.99-$5.99.

The sliders were ok. The pull pork and the beef sliders were good. The rotisserie chicken was basically cheddar cheese and that was it. Chicken was dry and use of parsley around the plate for decorative purposes is a waste of money and looks.

For $5.99 you can get  personal little pizza during happy hour. Tried the mac and cheese. The macaroni was over cooked and the cheese was a little watery for my taste.

There was a bartender showing off his skills by lighting up two bottles and juggling them around. That was fun, but not sure if thats a good idea.

Overall the service was alright. I'm supprised that as many TV's they had on the wall (six counted) they only showed two channels, TNT (NBA post game) and NBC Sports channel which showed poker...you know ESPN shows sports from todays action.

HH isn't nothing to scream about.

I'll be honest.. It's not the best wood fired pizza I've ever head, but it was pretty damn good. Toppings were good and fresh and the crust was really good: nice and thin, but could have been a little bit more crispy.

The place had only been open for a day when we went, and it was really busy. We were seated quickly though, and our server was super nice and attentive.

We sat at the pizza bar and could watch the team of 5 guys making pizzas nonstop. There were some moments of confusion in there, but they have only been open for about 36 hours at this point, so no worries.
Also saw them making s'mores and toasted sandwiches in the pizza oven, and they looked pretty good!

It's WARM inside this place, and I'm sure that's because they have a 700° oven inside. I hope they have good AC for the summer time. They do have some outdoor seating though.

All in all, I liked it a lot. It's a little spendy, but you are getting a good quality wood fired pizza without having to drive to the other side of Portland.
