So, it's a knock-off of Pei Wei (quick casual Asian) except they gratted our check for 18%! If you aren't familiar with the quick casual concept, it's like Starbucks adding a tip to your bill before they make your coffee, or in this case McDonald's - just for ringing in your order. Way to piss off your customers immediately! So, most of the food came up quickly, except they forgot one of the appetizers, so that came out after the entrees. The flavors were good but the portions for the prices were just okay. We had to wait for the cashier to take takeout orders before helping us. They were out of some of the stuff we initially tried to order. The tables were all either dirty or wiped down with a soaked cloth so you had to clean yourself a seat no matter what. It was not busy, either, so...yeah. Might be being generous with two stars.
Review Source:Me and a friend went here for dinner last night. We been looking for good chinese for me and good sushi for him, and we found Bambu :)
When we came it was very busy, but the service was fast and friendly. We ordered drunken noodle and couple sushi roll they are called Shusirrito Fiesta roll and Ocean roll. Here what we found : the place is super clean, service was great, they have reasonable price with great amount of food, food came out quick and hot and above all the food was so so good! We were just very happy we tried Bambu and we definitely are going back soon ^^
And also they have Monday night sushi! We should check out this sushi deal next week :)
All i can say about Bambu is great place, great food and great service ^_^
I agree with previous post that they do need help in the Customer Service/Training area.
This is my 3rd visit to Bam Bu and it serves the purpose of me being able to get thai food without making the longer drive to Littleton to go to Wild Ginger which is wonderful. Â However, each time, I have asked what is in the vegetable mix, as I don't like snow peas, at all. Â Each time, this question is met with utter confusion by the order taker and the others that she asks, so I end up ordering something without the mix. Â Today, I did get clarity from someone that was standing nearby on the phone that worked there that it included peas and I could order only broccoli, which I did. Â And of course, I got drunken noodles with chicken and veggie mix instead of tofu and broccoli which I ordered. Â The food took so long to get to me, I ate what they gave me but I'm on the fence on whether or not I'll go back.
Customer Service needs improvement.
The first time I wanted to try this place, I was shot down by the Manager who told me "We aren't taking deliveries tonight. I'm not sending anyone out. It's too busy". Not the greatest first impression.
The food, not bad. IMO, it's another Chinese restaurant.
I had the Bambu Salmon in ginger sauce. It was good. The second time, I tried the Fire Chicken. Fire, no joke. I love spicy food, but didn't think this dish would give me heartburn. If you're looking to set your esophagus on fire, this will do the trick.
I may order from them again in the future, but definitely not in a rush to do so anytime soon.
I have been here twice and both times the food has been oversalted. Â Not only that, but none of their foods are exactly Asian or fusion or whatever they want to be known for. Â I ordered noodles the first time and then thai basil chicken the second time. Â Not exactly what I would call "authentic" or even "fusion." Â All I can think about is too much salt and the awkward service I received. Â The same cashier just sat there and stared at me while I placed my order. Â I probably won't make it a point to come back but if I ever get snowed in or stuck without a car, I know there is slightly OK food I can count on without heading to any of our favorite fast food places.
Review Source:Bam-Bu is an asian fusion restaurant that is counter service only. Â I tell you this because I could never figure out if this was a sit down place or fast casual (I hate that term, but that is what it is). Â So because it is a counter service place AND smack in the middle of DTC (DTC Blvd between Belleview and Orchard), it is the perfect lunch spot. Â
They have lots of booths and a small, but varied menu with everything from sushi to pho to thai. Â The line can get long, but it moves fast. Â If you are getting take out figure on waiting a good 10m-15m while they make you up something fresh (next time I will probably call ahead).
I love their drunken noodles. Â They aren't stingy with the chicken and give you a decent variety of veggies. Â I will say when you take it to go that sometimes the noodles tend to clump together (probably because they serve it so hot and it finishes cooking in the to-go container). Â However, that is a little thing. Â
It really was well priced and perfect for a quick lunch! Nice big portion size too! Â I would recommend it if you are looking for a fast, casual meal - no frills. Â It is probably hovering around the 3.5 star mark, but I am rounding up :)
I never would have known this place is here. I drive by this area all the time and I have not once even noticed it. Â Anyway, I am thankful to a friend who introduced me to it, because I really enjoyed my food.
I ordered pho (you all know how much I heart my pho) and it was really great! Very flavorful, but one thing to note for you really strict vegetarians or vegans, they use beef broth in all of their versions of pho. I'm not uber strict when it comes to broth, so it ain't no thang for me.
Ok, so the only drawbacks to me were: Â
1. The environment...not exciting or even homey feeling. It's got a bland interior and man do they need a decorator up in there to make this place cool and trendy. It feels like a jack in the box inside.
2. The staff was nice, but seemed really inattentive. We also had a slight problem with a http://restaurant.com certificate we used for our meal because it seemed like she wasn't going to accept it or was confused as to what it was...and that just makes it awkward on us.
Overall, good food, maybe just take it to go?
I really like this place. Â I have come here many times, and have always been satisfied. Â It does break my "under $10" lunch rule, but you can easily make the lunch into two meals, so it is not a big deal. Â The Drunken Noodles and the SouthEast Curry (with Tofu) are my staples, and have always been good. Â I order mine medium, and they tend to be just the right amount of spiciness. Â This place can get busy at times, so try to hit it just before or after the lunch invasion.
Review Source:This place is really good. I usually get the tofu spring rolls and I like the sauce they use as something different than peanut sauce. Â I would not recommend the sushi, I had the salmon roll that just did not taste very fresh. The curries are OK but a little oily. What is fantastic is the Thai spiced soup and I get it hot. Just wonderful and a meal in itself. Staff is very friendly too!!! I come here about once every two weeks.
Review Source:Stopped by Bam-bu this weekend and at first I thought the place was closed because the parking lot was empty. Soon when we walked in we saw that one other table was there so that's a good sign right?
Well, kinda.
Honestly, I had no close what the deal with Bam-bu. I've stared at it lustfully during my commute home every day wanting to stop in but never enough time. I was surprised to see it was like Pei Wei in regards to how you order and how their menu is set up. The only draw back? It's not like Pei Wei, it's much smaller, more casual and with a smaller selection on the menu. I was craving a salad so I got the Tropical Salad with chicken and I can say one thing for sure, they hook you up with toppings! It had everything and had a generous portion of chicken as well however I was bummed to see that the lettuce was shredded lettuce, like the kind you make cole slaw with and not whole salad leaves or even chopped spinach. The salad was good but not $9 good. I wasn't completely overwhelemed with the experience but would go back to out a hot noodle dish for lunch or something when I'm in the mood for something quick.
I'm a huge fan of Bam-Bu, and am really glad to work so close to it! Â It's a great lunch spot, being quick and reasonably priced with healthy options. Â I love the no tipping policy, and that they will make you something else if you don't like your dish. Â Huge plus for customer service. Â Plus, they're always very accommodating to my annoying requests (like no onions, or add broccoli) and do so with a smile.
On to the important factor: the food. I've been twice so far, and had the soba noodles with chicken and the beef vindy w/ brown rice. Both were amazing. I love how they ask you what level of spiciness you want...although "really spicy" seems more like mildly spicy to me. Thank goodness for the condiment bar, where I can add as much Sriracha, chili-garlic sauce, and jalapeños as I want! Â
I am quickly becoming a regular customer here, so it's great that they have a frequent customer punch card. Â I can't wait to go back to try something else on their fabulous menu, and work my way up to a free meal!
I used to love this place and would go here for lunch often. But recently they switched over ownership from my understanding. I went back in here recently for a quick grab and go lunch and noticed that all their prices have been raised. You get the same amount of food and it taste pretty much the same, but you just pay more now. I was like what the heck. So I have decide that this knocks BamBu down a little. The old owner could server the same food you are but without the sock-it- to-ya kinda price. What gives?
So I don't know if I'll be going back as often.
OH AND THEY TOOK AWAY LIME LYT. What used to be Bambus version of frozen yogurt.
Meh... it's not really bad, but it's nothing super exciting. Â I appreciate that you can find a variety of vegetables in most of their options, but none of the meals I've tried have been that special. Â
Whenever I've tried to eat here for lunch, it's taken way too long to fit within a 1 hour lunch. Â Even going early doesn't seem to work. Â Maybe I'll call ahead next time?
Well, color me surprised.
The other day i was forced to eat here by the co-workers. I ordered a fried rice, without much expectations. But this time i ordered it hot. And it came. It was piping hot! My tastebuds exclaimed and sang a ferocious battle song! It was unbelievably flavorful. I like this place, if just for this one dish.
It's like the Thai version of Chipotle! Â (except the food is good).
There are a lot of options and the ones I've tried have all been good. Â I like the fact that if you ask for something spicy, it comes spicy. Â Non of that "mall hot" BS.
We're not saving babies here, I mean it's semi-fast asian food. Â All in all you could do a lot worse on your lunch break.
For a quick, large, and satisfying lunch, Bam-bu is a 4 star place; the lost of 1 star is because they use quite a bit of oil in their dishes...
What I have tried:
- Beef Stew: one of my favorite thing... they usually have a handmade sign near the register if they have it. I usually get it with the rice noodle in the beef stew. Think of it as a heartier (and oilier) version of pho.
- Drunken Noodles: I like their drunken noodles a lot but if you don't like your dinner with a good mixture sweet and savory, you may not like their drunken noodles as much. I like it because it is sweeter and they add bell peppers. Again, big portion and oily.
- Mandu: Ok, not super memorable.
And they are really nice... They once gave me and my coworkers sample of the beef stew and, ever since, I am hooked.
I stumbled upon this restaurant on the way to eat at Illegal Pete's which is in the same shopping center. Â When I caught a glimpse of Bam-Bu, I thought to myself...that's not how you spell bamboo, how can you bamboozle your fellow people into such a place! Â So, with that thought in mind, I had to go inside to see what this place was all about. Â
They had a decent variety for an asian fusion place including dumplings, cheese wontons, pad thai, drunken noodles, sesame chicken, and curry dishes. Â I ordered the Pad Thai and my friend got the Drunken Noodles. Â I got my dish and it tasted great! Â However, when I took a bite from my friend's Drunken Noodles, i immediately regretted my order. Â It was so good that I almost cried.
Get the Drunken Noodles. Â Get eeeeet.
I just finally made it out to Bam-bu! Going in with pretty low expectations (sorry, but a lot of fast Asian food = not so great), but came out totally impressed!
Bam-bu has a variety of food on their menu = rice dishes, noodle dishes, salads, frozen yogurt!! oh my!
I've tried many of their foods, but particularly love their cabbage salad (I know, it sounds SO appetizing, doesn't it?).
Froyo... cheap if you don't want toppings, can add up if you do (I think they charge .50-1$ per topping).
I got very good service when I was here - pretty quick for such a busy place; and once, they messed up my food = gave me a free entree for next time! :)
Asian fare and yogurt in one place, yes please!
I'm not the biggest fan of Asian Fusion cuisine, but I'll put that aside and dine at Bam-bu when I find myself in the DTC area. Â I used to work as a hostess at a restaurant up in Westminster and would thoroughly enjoy eating their curry because of how sweet and coconutty it tasted. Â Ever since quitting there, I've been trying to find a place with the same sweetness. Â (I know these strong sweet notes are not accurate of a traditional curry, but I love my sugar). Â This is where Bam-bu delivers. Â I love their pad thai and curry because of the stronger sweet, coconutty flavors. Â
Their froyo (lymlyt) I think, is the best tasting in Denver. Â It's a wonderful balance of sweet and sour (the original flavor) with a good, "stiff" consistency. Â It really reminds me of our traditional Asian yogurts, which may be why I love theirs so much.
Presentation of their entrees are cute and fun, good portions, and clean dining room. Â
Thumbs up for fusion fare.
I love this place. It's so good.
I get the Brisket Pho and it's awesome. If anyone likes pho they'll know that this place does a pretty great job. It comes out piping hot, the broth has great salinity (I think that's the correct word), it's spiced with onions, cilantro and some other things that come together like a warm blanket for your tummy wummy.
Others that frequent this establishment with me when we're trying to escape the white collar prison that is the DTC enjoy the fried rice, Indian food and the Pad Thai.
I love the concept of having everything from Asia. I think it's pretty original. It also seems like a concept that would be hard to pull off logistically, but they do a pretty good job. The only reason they don't get five stars is that sometimes there is a long wait. But i think they've been improving. I've gone every week for about four months and have noticed a trend that they are picking up the pace. However, once it took a really long time - but the owner gave me a free meal for the next time. YES Yum yum for my tum tum time!
First and foremost, there is no excuse for having fast food style seating and the aesthetics of a cannery or a Vietnamese sweat shop when I'm spending $10 for lunch.
The seating comfort was just atrocious. If they wanted me to get the hell out in five minutes or less, they should have just posted a sign on door. It almost feels like they took some of the old seating from the old Sauce restaurant that was there (which was freakin' awesome) and then went to a yard sale for the rest. Think I'm crazy? Take a look at the modified half booth / half chair seating.
As for the food, it was actually pretty delicious. This was the ONLY thing keeping this place from getting two stars. Yes, the seating and atmosphere was THAT BAD. I had the Pad Thai. Flavorful? Check. Good portion for the money? Check. Fresh ingredients? Double check.
It might be worth going back, but I definitely will not be eating in. There is a nice porch outside, but I might just pay someone to go in for me.
OK, Bam-bu, here you go - Four Stars! Â
You pay up front here, so I thought I get the stars out there right away. Â I read the previous Yelp reviews, and decided this would be my dinner spot tonight. Â
As it was a Saturday, I was the crowd. Â I ordered the Crab & Cheese Wontons and the Sesame Chicken - medium spicy and a Thai Iced Tea - $15.77. Â So far so good. Â I got a glass of water and walked over to my chair, where I met the young lady bringing me my food. Â Fastest kitchen in the West? Â Wow, that was quick!
The food was simply delicious. Â The wontons were great, the Sesame Chicken was outstanding. Â I was hungry and ate all the Sesame Chicken and five of the six wontons. Â It was a lot of very good food for the money.
Friendly staff, great food at reasonable prices - it's a winner! Â I'll be back to try their other offerings. Â The good reviews here on Yelp for Bam-bu are well-deserved.
(PLEASE, READ WHAT I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE YOGURT... YOU YOGURT SNOBS).
I went on a Sunday (today) and met the owner, who was working as a cashier. He seemed like a pretty down to earth guy and had a very positive attitude. Apparently he owns the restaurant with his wife (who worked in the back).
The interior decor is sort of whatevers (not a place where you would take a hot date to), but it is charming. I suppose the reason why it was made that way is because this is a fusion place, and it's hard to have ONE style. Â The food; however, was great. The portions were ginormous and tasty. Though the menu sort of has pretty much EVERYTHING, I feel like they don't lack in taste. ACTUALLY, to be completely honest, this place totally reminded me of the restaurant Out The Door in San Francisco. I see a lot of similarities (if you're from the Bay Area, you would know what I am talking about).
I liked it and don't feel reserved giving it 4 stars (the fro-yo machine helps too). The frozen yogurt is like a mixture of Pinkberry and Red Mango. Not quite as tart as Pinkberry, but not as sweet as Red Mango. It is the perfect balance.
PS: the Pad Thai is good.
FROYO fROYO FROYO
It takes all my willpower to not stop there when I pass it EVERY SINGLE DAY going to and from work. No, I am serious. I have been waiting for a good froyo place (though this isn't technically a froyo place, it's really the best thisng about it, and their food is great too...) to open up close by to where I live (even though I was well aware of the dangers) and quite frankly, i am surprised it took so long.
If you follow them on twitter, sometimes you can snag some deals and they also mention what their new flavors are. They usually have plain and then something else like acaà or pomegranate, blueberry or green tea...etc. They have tons of toppings, among my favorite are the mochi (i don't know if i am spelling that right) which are these soft, rice marshmallows, and of course all the fruit! They have kiwi, mango, blueberry, raspberry, coconut, plus other toppings like nuts and the rest are escaping me. I personally love mochi and blueberries on plain froyo. A lot of times they will give you samples too. Sometimes I like to pretend I've never heard of froyo and that it's my first time just so I can get a sample. I am sure all that tomfoolery is excessive and that they'd give me a sample anyways, but it feels cooler to pretend. I am confessing this to the world. Cover is blown!
I've also eaten lunch there once. I was with about four people and we all kind of shared between drunken noodles, pad thai and (i think) a noodle bowl. All of it was really good, and decently priced. The froyo is what seems to be a bit more expensive, but it's a weakness I have and the portion sizes are really fair for what you pay.
The owner plus the staff are super super nice there and, I all around love this place. It's quick, it's close, the staff is awesome, and it's a great way to get some really good pan-asian food without having to travel too far. It's easy and delicious, what's not to love about that?
When we arrived for lunch, there was a middle-aged couple sitting at a booth. I couldn't believe it! A restaurant smack dab in the middle of the Tech Center that was almost completely empty shortly before noon? I was terribly afraid that this lunch recommendation was not going to hold up. . . . not even close! The wait staff was just standing around twiddling their thumbs. Nothing to do?
We ordered our food (Garlic Butter Shrimp & a Noodle Bowl) and drinks. My dining companion works at the high school nearby, so we had less than an hour to eat and get her back to work. Since the only other customers already had their lunches, I figured that only ours would need to be prepared, so we should make it back to school on time.
All of a sudden a whirlwind blew in the door! The clock had chimed 12 noon and what seemed like three nearby businesses and half the high school came in with that southwest wind! Every table, every booth, every chair was filled. All in less than five minutes!
Our food arrived quickly (and was excellent!) with plenty of time to relax, enjoy it and head back to school on time.
Recommendation: Go to BamBu, but go early! This is one place you definitely want to beat the crowd.
3 cheers for froyo in the Tech Center!!!! Â Besides that, this place (according to their website) is over 75% green and I definitely don't have a problem supporting a company like that.
I thought their brown rice and tofu dish, with a fried egg of course, was a tasty and healthy treat.
I've been visiting Bam-Bu since it's opening. It occupies the former Tin Star Mexican restaurant in an out of the way strip mall in the DTC. It's directly across from the Tavern Tech Center.
This is not a Chinese Restaurant. I'd describe it as Asian Eclectic, drawing from Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Indian cuisine. It uses the fast-casual concept so prevalent in Denver nowadays. Most dishes are served with a choice of beef, chicken or tufo.
To date, my usual favorite is the Fried Rice dish, with beef. There is something addictive in the rice that keeps me coming back to that dish. I add a little hot & sweet chili sauce to make the dish pop. Today's choice was Bam-Bu's take on Beef Bulgogi. The marinated beef is on the sweet side, served in a deep dish with a lot of white rice. The dish is an enjoyable change of pace.
Some dishes have misfired. I once tried the pad-thai...: I'll leave that one to the true Thai restaurants in town.
Super clean and inviting from the outside - horribly prepared Chinese on the inside....
I work in the DTC and am always looking for a new place to spend my hard earned lunch dollars - Not sure if I went on the wrong day (given the other reviews posted), but ordering the sesame chicken was a mistake. Hard and tasteless chicken nuggets with goo on them, undercooked rice (yes - I have had excellent Sesame Chicken before).
Will not be going back.
WOW...WOW... oh you didn't quite like that, let's get you something new WOW!!!
Bam-bu is one of the several new restaurants in the DTC that everyone hasn't yet flocked to...and I love it. Â So they are missing the alcohol for the time being (coming at a future date) and the patio isn't packed with your typical DTC'er looking to get smash on the happy-hour drink specials, but what Bam-Bu does extremely well is focus on your only reason for being there. Â A great tasting meal sure to keep you coming back for more.
I first visited Bam-Bu several weeks ago and wasn't sure what to expect. Â Honestly more of an accident as Illegal Pete's was packed and I felt like something new.
Upon walking in you're greeted with a soft modern feel to something Asian, yet not your traditional fried rice and won-tons establishment. Â The menu put together by the owner Tay and his wife is chock full of flavor and some dishes making you want to try everything on the list. Â
Best part about it...go ahead and try something new! Â Bam-bu has a great rule that encourages you to dive into a new dish and if you don't like anything about it after the first few bites, they will replace it with something else...FREE!
On my two visits I've tried both the drunken noodles (Thai staple...can't really go wrong) and the South East Curry Chicken. Â Both dishes were presented gorgeously and full of flavors I wouldn't imagine could go together well. Â Coconut milk and curry? Â Yeah...it works.
Also Bam-bu offers Lym-Lyt. Â Huh? Â Lym-Lyt is a creamy and smooth frozen yogurt treat churned to mouth watering perfection. Â Several different flavors including peach and raspberry are offered with toppings abound. Â I tend to order mine plain with nothing more to top my lovely heap of frozen goodness.
Another fantastic feature of Bam-bu is they are 75% green. Â From the paint on the floors to their recycling minded suggestions, Bam-bu is great for the environment.
For your next DTC lunch, be sure to get into Bam-bu and let Tay know you found him on Yelp!
