What's not to love about Bamboo House! My family and I have been coming here to eat for over 10 years, even though we're Latino, we can't get enough Pho & their famous chicken wings. In which I do have to admit... In trying to figure out the famous recipe in my own kitchen. I've come VERY close ;) Â They have recently renovated the interior of the restaurant, and it looks cozy and warm. They dimmed the lights a bit inside, added tall booths, new wood floors. Not a huge makeover , but a gentle facelift. And the food , same ... Delicious ...consistent awesomeness !
Review Source:Best restaurant in the universe. Â You may drive by it if you live here and never take a second look. Â When you walk in you are greeted uniformly by the workers and/or family. Â Neon lights and a TV in the background contribute to the decor; the interior aesthetic is dire-yet the food is so good you don't even notice. The food transcends everything. Â I am Buddha at Bamboo House.
I want to preface by saying the first dish I ordered here was so good, I have never ordered ANYTHING else. Â I have come with other people and they enjoy what they have as much as I do, and I have sampled what they have, but it is impossible to order anything but #20 because it is so amazing. Â Everyone raves about the chicken wings, scallion pancakes and soups, but I can't get enough of #20 Banh hoi, a Vietnamese dish with rice vermicelli-a sponge like accompaniment-with scallions, a side of fresh lettuce, mint, Asian coriander, the kicker is the pork in amazing sauce sprinkled with peanuts. Â You take all of these ingredients and wrap them in clear rice paper rolls that you get to dip in hot water they bring you. Â They serve the most delicate Jasmine tea with the meal as well, and the portions are enormous. Â The price is phenomenal, if you aren't a pig you almost always have leftovers.
My girlfriend always gets a vegetarian dish, it is essentially a spicy bamboo shoot and lemongrass dish that is served with braised gluten and a tasty sauce, however she substitutes the gluten for lightly fried tofu and loves it. Â She always gets the same thing, you can't really explain the sauces there, they are so good, the need for salt and pepper is not necessary, her dish comes with a perfect white sticky rice, they don't have brown rice, but who cares, you can splurge here it is such a treat. Â It's nice that they have Sriracha on the side at every table as well, although you never need it. Â
Also, it's BYOB, it doesn't get better! you have an amazing meal and bring your own bottle, it's a total wet dream.
Go there and indulge.
THE END.
