Their masala dosa is absolute perfection - the dough is crispy and well-seasoned, while the potatoes and the sambar complement it amazingly. I haven't had a better dosa anywhere. I also love their samosa chaat. However, this place needs a serious renovation. It is downright ugly and does not appear very clean, at all.

Excellent food for the price. Atmosphere is not the best, but who cares? I live 5 min. away and take it out to eat by the fireplace. My favorite is Palak Paneer (Spinach pureed with chunks of cheese) Healthy and tasty! Yummy. I am not a Hindi, but I am trying to eat more vegetarian and this place makes me forget about meat for awhile. Really nice old guy who cleans up. He teaches me some Hindi words while I am there. Not sure if he is family, but he is always smiling and friendly. I am glad this is so close to home. It would take me forever to cook this type of food and I work 70 hrs/week, so I try to get here 1-2 times/week. Thanks Bangalore Express! ; D

Great quality food for vegetarians .
Suited very much as a fast food Indian restaurant.
Veg biryani and the chat items  served here  are one of the best I' ve had in recent times. Reasonably priced The service is great too..
A restaurant that is in the middle of nowhere, but was an amazing find:)

How have I been living in New Jersey for 4 months and only just discovered the Indian joints on Route 27?  Just glad I started at one of the best.

Get your hot, fresh tasty dosas here.  Fresh sambar to boot.
    Authentic, home cooking.

This was a totally random stop for me (a very uncharacteristic one at that).

I didn't order enough to completely judge their indian food, but I thought their Lentil Bonda was well made and their Mango Lassi was great as well (although I was disappointed it came in the tiniest cup!) Counter service is nice and food comes out quickly. Nothing was mindblowing but I could tell that they made good quality Indian fare.

All in all-- since I didn't order much--- it's 3 stars. But the extra star is for the kind and sweet elderly indian man who brought me water to drink while I was waiting to get take-out and even helped me throw away my cup. :)

I enjoyed this place! Not exacty the cleanest, but one of the best tasting. I've tried a few things here, and they are reasonably priced for the taste you're getting. It's a pow on your pallet (make sure you like indian food BEFORE going to Bangalore since it is authentic indian flavors)!

Do not EAT there, it will ruin the tasty experience since the odd paint color, heat and tables don't make for a wonderful culinary experience, the dosas deserve more credit.

    Try:
The dosa (which is a flat pancake-crepe-like thing) with different topics (potatoes is a classic), and a few sauces can't remember the sauce names but they give it).
Samosa Chaat (a fried potato turnover mixed with yogurts, chutney and a spicy

4 stars only because they mispelt BangAlore (kudos to my wife for noticing that)

Other than that, the food was fantastic.  As Random D stated, this is one of the many Indian food spots along Rte. 27.  However, the food was really good.

At any South Indian place, I use the Sambhar (the lentil gravy) as my yardstick to judge how well they cook other stuff.  (DISCLAIMER: I'm not a South Indian, so I'm sure South Indians will be quick to comment on my yardstick....but oh well..that's what they have disclaimers for).

The sambhar here was fantastic.  It was better than any South Indian places I've been to in NJ.  Added to that, the Idlys were quite soft and the dosa had just the right ratio of crisp:chew that made this a memorable place.

The owner was very friendly, and while the place was pretty empty when we went (Sunday morning after thxgiving), it seems to be pretty popular

Bangalore express is one of those many Indian restaurants that is out in Route 27. Not to be confused with Balaji Express which is not too far away from this place - this place serves Indian "Chaat" items for most part. We ordered a variety of chaats from here - samosa chaat, pav bhaji and Vada Pav were pretty good (not excellent- very good), everything else was ok except Bisi Bhela baath - the sambar rice stuff which was pedestrian ( don't trust a Gujarati chef to do a south Indian food!). There is hardly ANY space for one to sit down and eat. So, better to carry out food (which is what we did).  Definitely a good place for a very quick bite.
